DESPITE Spain’s slow but steady progress in de-escalating out of the coronavirus health crisis, there is still a lot of confusion felt by residents in confinement about what rules apply, where they apply and to whom they apply. Thankfully measures are beginning to relax however, finding out which measures apply in which stage has been a headache for many. Firstly, the government said it would only de-escalate by provinces, and this has been the case in Andalucia, however, in other areas of the nation provinces have been allowed to deescalate by sanitary districts. Why has the entirety of Malaga, which only has one sanitary district that does not comply with Phase 1 criteria, been forced to remain in Phase 0? Instead, territories in Valencia and Alicante with a higher incidence of the virus have been allowed to de-escalate separately. Not only this, but the constant backtracking on rules

Initially, the new driving regulations were only applicable to residents in Phase 1, now they apply to Phase 0 as well. At one point, bars and restaurants were only allowed to open their terraces to accommodate 30 per cent of usual customers, after facing backlash they changed this to 50 per cent. Similarly, going to a residence in the same province was only allowed in Phase 2, after facing controversy this has been amend-
ed to Phase 1. It begs the question, how are these regulations being created and enforced? How much backlash must a regulation face before being adapted? What is the final say? These are important questions that business owners and customers must know the answers to if they plan on contributing to the economy and re-activating the notion of ‘new normality.’

Clearing Up Confusion TO make things a little simpler during this complicated time, we have developed an easy to read guide about what you can and can’t do during your deescalation phase: Can I travel to go and see my family or friends? No, if you are in Phase 0 you are not allowed to visit friends or family at their homes. Yes, if you are in Phase 1, you are permitted to hold small social gatherings of up to 10 people, but this must be within the same province. You are not allowed to travel outside of your province to visit anyone. Can I go to the bar/restaurant? No, if you are in Phase 0, bars and restaurants will remain closed to the public, however, you can go and pick up food to take away and eat at home. Yes, if you are in Phase 1, then bars and restaurants with open terraces will be open but at a limited capacity and correct hygiene measures should be abided to. Can I go to the hairdressers? Yes, no matter what phase you are in, businesses which take prior appointments will be open, all you need to do is book in advance.
EXERCISE: Is permitted in bothphases but at regulated times. Can I go to church or my place of worship? No if you are in Phase 0 this will be
closed. Yes, if you are in Phase 1. Can I travel in the car with my family?
Individuals in both Phase 0 and Phase 1 are now allowed to travel with members of their household in the same private vehicle, without using masks and occupying all seats available. However, if you are travelling with a non-household member you must wear a face mask and respect the maximum distance between passengers. Can I go out to do exercise? Yes, in both phases exercise is allowed, however, you must abide to your designated time slot. Children under the age of 14 (accompanied by an adult): From 12.00pm to 7.00pm Individuals over the age of 70: From 10.00am to 12.00pm and from 7.00pm to 8.00pm Individuals over 14 but under 70: From 6.00am to 10.00am and from 8.00pm to 11.00pm Can I take my children out? Yes, in both phases, either to accompany you to do activities permissible under your phase or during the designated exercise hours. When taking your child out for exercise this must be done by a single parent and only a maximum of three children can go out under the supervision of one parent.
Big Park Plan PLANS have been unveiled for what has been described as the ‘largest family leisure park’ in the Mar Menor area. Los Alcazares mayor, Mario Cervera, says that they want to upgrade a green area in Los Narejos into a major public facility. Thirty-six thousand square metres are being looked at, and the area would include a dog park, an exercise zone, as well as picnic and barbecue areas. There would also be a football pitch as well as a kiosk selling refreshments and an extensive car park. Cervera said: “This would become a focal point for outdoor fun and leisure for all of our residents.”

Southern Split RESIDENTS in the south of Alicante Province woke up last Monday (May 11) to find a split bet w e e n d i ff e re n t p a r t s o f t h e region. That’s down to which health department area was allowed to go through to Phase 1 of the national relaxation of the State of Alarm. The Orihuela and Torrevieja health departments were given the green light, but that wasn’t the case for the Alicante and Elche departments. This meant that Guardamar, Quesada, Torrevieja, Pilar de la Horadada, and the Orihuela Costa could enjoy a much greater freedom of movement and the chance to enjoy a drink at a bar terrace, whilst the previous Phase 0 rules still applied to the two health areas north of them. The decision was taken by Spain’s Health Ministry based on Covid-19 infection rates, with the figures in Alicante and Elche apparently not good enough for the national government.
Lost Aid A PATIENT who lost his hearing aid in a Murcia hospital has been given €1,200 compensation. A legal ruling found that the aid went missing when his bed linen was being changed in the ICU of the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital in November 2018. The Legal Council of the Region of Murcia said that because he was in the ICU, his personal items were responsibility of the hospital, and not of the patient’s family.
Pilar Prang A MOPED collided with a Pilar de la Horadada police car, but the rider didn’t hang around the scene. His bike had false number plates, and he gave police the slip as they chased him on foot around the town’s streets.
GUARDIA CIVIL: Are checking up. The mayors of Crevillente and Santa Pola have called for an explanation over the decision, as a lot of effort had gone into preparing businesses and bars to be reopened. Residents in the Phase 1 areas of Orihuela and Torrevieja are free to travel between the different towns of each health district, but there is a slight catch.
The Guardia Civil in Alicante and Local Police forces like Orihuela and San Fulgencio have confirmed that you cannot go out of your own health area, unless you can prove you have a good reason to do so. That means that in some cases, travelling between adjoining municipalities is not allowed. It’s led to a bizarre situation on the

Lo Crispin urbanisation in the Algorfa municipality, where since mid-March and the start of the State of Alarm, residents were ordered to use local supermarkets just a few hundred metres away in Quesada. Since the start of the week, that is no longer possible as Lo Crispin and Quesada lie in a different Phase 1 health area. So as opposed to being fined until last weekend for not using local supermarkets, Lo Crispin residents now face penalties for doing the same right now! Supermarket journeys from the urbanisation now entail travelling north to Almoradi, which is an 18-kilometre round-trip. The Algor fa Council Facebook page has been flooded with comments from Lo Crispin residents who find the whole situation ironic and senseless. Lesley Russell-Smith posted: “We’ve had two months of shopping in Quesada, and now its illegal.”

HAIRY dogs have been keeping groomers busy in Alicante Province for over the last week. Besides humans having to give hairdressers a miss until the country’s State of Alarm rules were relaxed at the start of May, pet owners have been putting up with their pooches unable to get a trim for over two months. That proved to be an even greater problem as temperatures started to climb at the end of April, with dogs needing their important pre-summer clipping. Individual groomers, as well as vet practices that offer a service within their premises, are unsurprisingly saying that business has been very brisk, now that they’ve been allowed to reopen.
La Manga Rescue WORRIED neighbours in La Manga helped to save the life of an elderly resident. The man had not been seen for a day, and so concerned people phoned the emergency services to see if he was in any difficulty. It was just as well they did make the calls, as the 79-year-old man, who lived on his own, had collapsed on his
bedroom floor. A Guardia Civil patrol arrived and looked through a window to see that he was lying in an unconscious state. San Javier firefighters broke down the front door, and the man was found alive, but in a bad state, having suffered a head injury. He was taken to hospital in Cartagena.
NEW STAFF: The majority have been cashiers and fresh produce workers. REGIONAL supermarket cooperative Consum has announced it will take on 5,000 extra workers for the summer across its 450 supermarkets in Alicante Province and the Valencia region. Since the State of Alarm began in mid-March, Consum has recruited 2,605 new employees and made 2,273 extensions to workers’ shifts. The majority of new staff have
been cashiers and fresh produce staff. With this new recruitment drive “the cooperative generates more than 7,600 new jobs,” the company said. Consum has now started checking the temperature of all its workers, and an average bonus of €283 was paid to each employer in the March payroll.

Masks compulsory SHOPPERS using the regional Consum supermarket stores in Alicante Province will have to wear face masks from next Monday (May 18). In preparation, Consum have said that they are selling packets of masks at €9, which are made of hygienic
cloth and are reusable. Consum have put up signs at their entrances outlining their policy change over the compulsory use of masks, which will now be worn in addition to gloves, and customers having to wash their hands with gel.

Time Limit Claim BAR owners in the Murcia region were allegedly told to have a 45-minute time limit on customers using a table, when they reopened last Monday (May 11). The whole of the area was allowed by the Spanish government to get into Phase 1 of the country’s relaxation of the State of Alarm rules. That saw the return of a terrace drinks service for restaurants and bars, but they were ap-
parently advised by local officials to run a reservation system as well as a 45- minute maximum stay for drinkers. Jose Carlos Cano, who runs a bar in Cartagena said: “It’s nonsense. It’s crazy. It’s absurd.” Cano added that he had no intention of running a clock on his customers, many of whom he regarded as friends.
Getting Ready A MAJOR Alicante Province hotel group has announced some of the plans it will introduce across its locations before it reopens to customers. The Magic Costa Blanca chain has said that it plans to open half of its establishments when transit between provinces is allowed, to at least ensure the arrival of domestic tourists.
The chain will introduce a protocol of hygienicsanitary security measures to be followed by all staff in all of its hotels. Capacity will be reduced throughout the complexes, in common areas and restaurants. LAST weekend’s warm weather across the south of Alicante Province turned into a hailstorm surprise in Torrevieja. Heavy rain, with thunder and lighting, suddenly appeared on Sunday morning, punctuated by
a giant hailstorm in parts of the city. The local weather group, Proyecto Mastral, produced some photos taken of the hail pummelling parts of Torrevieja to bring a distinctly wintry appearance to the area.

The charity’s president, Michele Masson, says they are working on making sure that they get all the necessary requirements and changes done, so that they can welcome any old and new customers. Cover up DRUG FARM: Marihuana buds were found hanging from the ceiling. A SHADY drug dealer and her partner were arrested for covering up her mother’s death. Their lie was discovered by the emergency services that were called while ‘supposedly’ taking the mother for a walk in her wheelchair. The daughter told paramedics that her mother fell ill during the walk; it didn’t take long for them to discover that she had been dead longer. The
couple’s suspicious behaviour raised alarm when the paramedics tried to perform CPR, which led them to alert the police. The National Police carried out a search of their home in Granada to check for any foul play, instead discovering that it was a large-scale drug farm, with accessories of a drug business. They found ‘142 dry marihuana buds hanging from the ceiling,
as well as two rooms dedicated to producing the drug.’ The couple were arrested and charged with drug-related charges. But they have been released as the police do not suspect foul play in the mother’s death. Water Safety THE Spanish National Research Council has conducted a report regarding the safety of bathing in the sea or pools during the coronavirus crisis and ruled that transmitting the virus in this environment is ‘highly unlikely.’ It warns that social distancing should be respected even when enjoying recreational activities in the water. Risk in swimming pools and spas will be less likely due to disinfecting agents which are used to avoid contamination by the influx of users and ‘should be sufficient to deactivate the virus.’ A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl died suddenly last Thursday on a street in the Malaga neighbourhood of El Palo. The events took place on May 7 on Calle Almagro y Cárdenas, behind the football field of El Palo. The emergency services received several calls about the incident. The first to arrive at the scene were Local Police officers, who asked for radio support and demanded a resuscitator. The El Palo health centre,

Their report said that it would take between 12 and 18 months for Spain to return to “normality.” The timings would also depend on when a vaccine is developed and administered. Army experts have produced some sombre reading for politicians and the country’s population. “There will be a second wave of Covid19 in the autumn or winter,” the report said. “It will be less serious than the initial outbreak due to higher immunity in the population and better preparations.” Their analysis also said that a third wave could happen next year, but the effects would lessen still further, especially if a vaccine was available.

Boost to domestic tourism WITH the prospect of a holiday season of closed borders, restricting overseas travel and threats of quarantines, Spain’s travel agencies have stressed the importance of catering to local tourism. The Corporate Association of Specialised Travel Agencies (Acave), the main employer in the sector in Spain with more than 500 associated agencies, has urged the government to boost the promotion of domestic tourism “in order to save some of the summer season and the period after that until the end of the year.” They argue priority must be given to local tourist packages, organised through its agencies to adhere to strict gover nment

Andalucia fuming ANDALUCIA’S tourism and hospitality authorities are furious that Spain’s central government is proposing to introduce hefty fees of between €500 and €3,000 for a ‘Covid-free’ security stamp. Vice president of the Junta of Andalucia and councillor for Andalucia’s Tourism, Juan Marín, stated on May 11 that this is “unacceptable” and is a “cost that the government should take responsibility for.” The ‘Covid-free’ security stamp will basically allow consumers and employees to recognise businesses that have adopted governmentapproved health measures and protocols to prevent the risk of Covid-19 contagion. However, Marín believes this cost should be assumed by the government, particularly for firms in the tourism and hospitality sector that have already suffered huge losses.

SPAIN’S notorious Franco era henchman and torturer, nicknamed ‘Billy the Kid,’ has died of Covid-19 at the age of 73 on May 7 in Madrid. Antonio González Pacheco was given the nickname of the cowboy outlaw after his habit of spinning a gun on his finger. Regarded as one of the worst torturers in the General Franco dictatorship, he was never charged thanks to the Amnesty Law of 1977,
which granted immunity to crimes committed from the Spanish Civil War through to the mid70’s. González served as a police officer in Madrid under the Franco regime and in 1975, after Franco’s death, he joined the police’s anti-terrorism unit, where he led a campaign against the Basque terrorist group ETA. In 2013, an Argentinian court issued an international arrest warrant on 13 counts of torture as
part of an investigation into Franco-era crimes that included disappearances, forced labour, murders, stolen children, and unlawful detention. That bid failed a year later; the High Court in Madrid rejected an extradition request, saying that any crimes that had been committed had passed. He was even awarded a silver medal in 1977 for his services to the country and a 50 per cent hike to his retirement pension.

Terrorist Takedown OFFICERS from the Guardia Civil in Barcelona have arrested a Moroccan citizen for his association to the terrorist group Daesh. The investigation was coordinated with the help of Moroccan DGST and the FBI. The detainee had been showing clear signs of radicalisation and affinity with the terrorist group Daesh for four years now. His radicalisation was discreetly carried out both in a physical and virtual sense and he had never been identified as a critical actor. However, during the State of Alarm this radicalisation grew more prominent causing authorities to become alarmed. Police hypothesise that this intensification happened as Daesh made a call to all solitary actors who found themselves in western territories telling them to mobilise and carry out attacks. Virtually, the detainee was publicly manifesting his hate for the West on social media and, physically, he was seen breaking quarantine and possibly scouting areas to attack. The investigation determined that he was completely influenced by their propaganda and had sworn his loyalty to Daesh, subsequently causing his arrest as he posed a threat to the general public.

Traveller Quarantine TRAVEL agencies, tour operators, and transport companies are now obligated to inform potential holidaymakers and travellers about the new quarantine measures when selling tickets destined towards any Spanish territories. “People coming from abroad must quarantine for 14 days following their arrival,” stated the Official State Bulletin on Tuesday, May 12. This order established by the Ministry of Health, which comes into force at 12.00am on May 15, aims to enforce a quarantine for people arriving in Spain from abroad, at least until the State of Alarm lasts. It establishes that any person who travels to Spain from abroad, re-

It should be noted that tourism represents 12 per cent of the economy in Andalucia and 13 per cent of employment. According to the ratings agency, the company faces the reality of the maturity of bonds worth €800 million in the latter part of next year and it fears that the bet ting company could end up in default as it already has liquidity problems. debts, but even if its betting shops open within the next few weeks, if there are no significant sporting events for customers to bet on, then cash flow will be more of a trickle. Lack of liquidity coupled with the fact that lenders may well be more interested in backing larger enterprises with greater assets means Codere which employs some 12,000 staff could be in trouble.

Bitcoin devaluation EVERY four years the value of crypto currency bitcoin is halved in a deliberate effort to slow down the number of coins ‘mined.’ At the onset of the coronavirus Covid19 pandemic the value of a single bitcoin dropped to $4,200 (€3,876) but now a few days be fore the devaluation, it has jumped back to just below $10,000 (€9,232). Not a rescue SPANISH Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has warned that loans of €540 billion to be made by the Eurogroup to member states are not a bailout but credit lines to help each
government’s economy. The money is coming from two sources with the European ‘bailout’ fund (ESM) inputting €240 billion, the European Investment Bank is
funding €200 billion. A further €100 billion will be given by the European Commission in order to support measures such as paid furloughs known in Spain as ERTE.

The decision made by both lenders was released after a report from the Corporate Finance Network of accountants suggested that up to 18 per cent of all small and medium sized businesses in the UK could col lapse.

LEAPY LEE SAYS IT OTHERS THINK IT I CANNOT personally join in the condemnation and leftie gloating over the British government’s handling of the PPE dilemma. With the growing pressure and need for more and more supplies it is plainly obvious that ministers have been searching far and wide for ways of obtaining these lifesaving pieces of equipment. After all, who would have thought that Turkey of all places would have some means of producing vast amounts of these vital medical items? A number of other countries in the world, seeing a chance of a quick profit, have turned their hand to manufacturing these supplies, is it no wonder that much of it is inferior or not fit for purpose? The most despicable country of all of course is China. With its vast manufacturing ‘robot’ manufacturing capabilities the Chinese are pouring all their efforts into churning out as much

MEDICAL SUPPLIES: Many countries are now manufacturing these. PPE and breathing equipment as possible. Millions of tons are being manufactured from their factories, many of which are springing up virtually overnight. They are hawking their products around the world and, according to reports, ‘customers’ are being given 15 minutes to make decisions on millions of
pounds worth of goods or else it gets offered to someone else! This is a disgraceful state of affairs. It’s almost a take it or leave it scenario. And what about the moral issues? The country responsible for the whole debacle is making billions from the victims of their actions. That’s like demolishing
someone’s house without their permission and charging the owners for rebuilding. What they should be doing is donating all their products free of charge. At least this would go some way to making amends for this scourge of death and misery they have released on the world. Well don’t hold your breath for that scenario; they’re too busy making sure they’re all fir mly on board before the world’s economy ‘gangplank’ plunges into the water. Five weeks ago I wrote that the ethnic areas of the UK cities weren’t taking a blind bit of notice of the gover nment’s advice for social distancing or staying indoors. Mosques were still open and some Imams were telling their followers the virus was ‘not their problem’ and was ‘Allah’s revenge on the Infidel.’ I said at the time that when they began to drop like flies, it
would be a whole different story. Well it’s happened hasn’t it? It is now being reported that those from ethnic communities have up to four times the chance of dying from the virus than their white counterparts. They actually are trying to insinuate that this disease has some kind of racist connotations! What a load of old codswallop. The only reason there are more people dying from the ethnic communities is because the majority consider themselves totally alien from the rules and regulations that govern the country they live in. End of. I do not of course include those from these communities working in the front lines. These are the givers. Unfortunately they are a very small percentage of their compatriots. It’s just important to let them know they are not alone.” Emma has seen a lot of change in attitudes towards death over the years, and even more so now, in the midst of the pandemic. “Death is on people’s minds now, it’s not as taboo a subject as it once was, and people are more open to talking about and planning ahead for it. “It’s important to put an End of Life plan in place, not just because of the pandemic, but also because of Brexit. “We have found that with Brexit and now the pandemic, people are understandably worried as many longstanding companies have gone into administration. I can assure everyone that we have an independent Trust Fund in place to safeguard your plan purchase against this situation occurring.”

While she and the rest of the team have maintained a presence throughout the State of Alarm, she says how it has affected her personally. “My life has changed a lot due to lockdown,” said Victoria. “I have a five-year-old son, He’s at home with my husband. “It’s been hard not being able to go out with my boy. It was his birthday last month and he obviously wanted to see his friends. “He has been fantastic and very understanding of this overwhelming situation. His
school did an amazing job and explained everything before it closed, and we reinforced the message at home too. In truth it’s hard for him to understand in full because he can’t physically see it.” But Emma says she feels lucky and privileged. “The confinement side of lockdown has not really had much of an impact on me. I am fortunate to be able to adapt to a situation and changes in circumstance. “We are all now in a new world and we are all doing our jobs differently and to the best of our ability. “My team and I are concentrating on helping other people who are in a much less fortunate position.”

Josefina Navarro, Granada “Fina is a refugee here in Spain but has always looked out for everyone she meets. She has shepherded many of us expats through immigration hurdles, house-hunting and other aspects of daily life, always with an enormous smile on her tiny self. The moment we were allowed outdoor activity, she came to my home with her shopping trolley to pick up some groceries. She took them off to a nearby family in need while swaddled up in her makeshift protective gear. She is a ray of light for all around her.” - Steve Corlew

While others were afraid to leave their homes, Fina risked her own health to work. “A friend of ours had his foot amputated last December. Trish is known for her kind heart, during the past year she has visited patients in hospital and taken food to her elderly customers. Now she has ‘upped her game.’ “She cooks 50 to 100 meals roughly a week for St George’s charity collective who have been feeding people who can’t support themselves. She has arranged for food parcels, bought masks, visors and gloves for community members.
Alison Bramwell, Mojacar “She has not only done so much for the community of Mojacar before the Covid-19 Crisis with her ceaseless charity work of helping the MACS Charity, but for all of us who have been stuck indoors for the past eight weeks, now going into our ninth with her Fitness and Exercise Workouts being posted via Facebook and email. She has truly kept us on our toes with her daily workouts of Zumba, Dance, Pilates and Stretch routines making it fun for All of

Saloua Sfar, Mallorca “I would like to nominate Saloua Sfar who owns a small restaurant, Ma Maison, in Palma De Mallorca. She cooks and has just two staff. “Visiting the local soup kitchen, she was dismayed to learn that they didn’t have enough food and were turning people away even hungry babies. “Most are not homeless, but desperately in need, because of the pandemic. She has raised the money and is providing baby food and free meals to many, many people. “Every Christmas she raises money and enlists the help of other chefs to cook for over 500 children and provide them with gifts. “The woman has a heart of gold and deserves some sort of acknowledgement. “I would like to nominate our golf Society president Mr Neil Kinrade. “Neil has set up a community in Playa Flamenca to help families around the area. He has helped at least 10 families whether it’s paying their bills, rent or sending food parcels. He also helps with medical expenses for people that can’t afford it.
“He donated funds to the staff of our bar as he knew they were waiting over seven weeks for payment from the government. UP until a month ago, we had become completely accustomed to full, constantly topped up supermarket shelves. We could get whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted it. But did we ever actually stop to consider what it took to produce food or where the constant flow came from? Food had become a commodity we no longer had to fight for, it was readily available. However, when the Coronavirus pandemic slapped the world in the face it put certain things, like the need for food, into perspective. Faced with stripped supermarket shelves, closed bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants, reality bit. Some of those in isolation were robbed of their packaged sandwich breakfast, ready meals from supermarkets and easy alternatives from the kebab shop and had to try something new, cooking from scratch, getting inventive and fending for themselves. In doing so nine out of 10 adults report that they are more aware of how much food they are wasting, and over a third of consumers are throwing out less than before the crisis struck. We are learning to value food as well as learning to value our own abilities to handle change and survive. However, we cannot allow ourselves to become complacent. When we return to normality we must carry over this new respect for food and ultimately our new respect for survival.

Dear Leapy, Because of lockdown, I'm here in Brighton & Hove with time to tidy up my office. (I used to run a business, now retired.) My late husband and I bought a little flat in Villajoyosa back in 1982 and I still go there every April and November. I always get EWN when I’m there and enjoy your articles. DEAR Euro Weekly News, The hours given to different age groups of the community is just not working. On the first day that children with a parent were allowed out it seemed like every child was out enjoying themselves, a week on, they have six hours to exercise, where have they all gone, our promenade is now deserted between the hours of 12 and 6, however b e t w e e n 6 a m a n d 1 0 a m t h e s a m e a re a s a re crowded, not only with the designated age group but also some children and very many over 70’s who obviously can’t wait until 10 am to take their exercise. T he t o wn c e nt re w a s a s b u s y a s b e f o re t h e lockdown at midday today, social distancing has d i s a p p e a re d . S h o r t m e m o r i e s ! ! I love jumping on the bus into Benidorm to see drag shows, comedy, singers, but I’m also the British Patron of Vilamuseu. They have a terrific collection with some unique pieces. My favourite era is the Romans, so I love walking over to the Tower of San Josep, the tallest Roman funerary monument in Spain. To thank me for my support (translations, financial) they named the gardens after me. Have you ever been to Villajoyosa? It’s such a vibrant place, fishing fleet, market, I love it. Think twice Dear Euro Weekly, I booked a flight with Ryanair from Alicante to London Gatwick in March. I also booked a hotel and airport parking. I took out Ryanair insurance. The week before I was due to travel I started coughing and felt unwell. On the advice of the Spanish medical contact service, I was advised not to travel, I didn’t. I managed to cancel my hotel and airport parking without any financial loss. I contacted Ryanair insurance provider to advise them, again bef o re m y t r a v e l . N o re s p o n s e t o d a t e . I h a v e emailed them on another two occasions since. Again, no reply. Ryanair is a money-making organisation who think nothing for their customers. The flights were £124.39. Not a great sum but now, as a regular on Ryanair in the past, I would have to think twice about using them again. Regards, Trevor

No business owner can handle those extra costs to begin with especially when coupled with fewer tables/customers. The cost would then need to be passed on to the customer but that would mean significantly higher costs which many customers simply wouldn’t want to pay. I see it as a way to kill off the cafe/restaurant /bar businesses in Spain, not to support them.
Spain’s Benidorm Reopening Bars as Anger Boils Up in Costa Blanca Towns Forced to Keep Tough Lockdown Laws Andy Rayner Elche has two hospitals, which are responsible for many towns as well as the city itself. The hospitals have coped brilliantly, and Elche as a whole has many less cases than other cities... the problem is authorities worry about a spike, meaning that these two hospitals will be overrun... so strangely to many, and as a precaution they have not let Elche or surrounding towns pass. Rightly or wrongly this appears to be what’s happened to us. Caught everyone by surprise because Elche hospitals have only registered 20 deaths and never once was anywhere near overrun… In fact Vinalopo hospital only ever had a handful of cases, and wasn't really used… Elche General had a Covid ward.

WHAT IS THE LAW OF ATTRACTION AND HOW DOES IT WORK? Oh how wrong was I! The more I read, the more intrigued I was to investigate and test the water. Rhonda Byrne, Author of The Secret explains how the law of attraction is like a magnet. Whatever you think and feel, you attract. Like attracts like! Whether you’re vibrating on a high or low frequency is the primary factor determining whether you successfully manifest your dreams. Given how the Law of Attraction works, you magnetically draw (ie attract) things vibrating on the same frequency. These are things that reflect your internal state. This means that if you work to maintain a high frequency (through positivity, love, com-
passion, and productivity) then you inevitably end up with more good things in your life. Have you ever woke up in the morning, in a bad mood and then everything for the rest of the day goes badly? Adjusting to the ‘New normal’ MS BIPOLAR UP AND DOWN WITH BALANCE UNEDITED
WE hear this phrase being used quite a lot with recent events - the ‘New Normal’.’ So what is it like having bipolar and adjusting to your ‘new normal’?! Having bipolar is a game changer, but you still have the power to decide where to set your goalposts for a fulfilling future. It took a long time for me to come to terms with and accepting the fact that I have a mental illness . But lately, I have been looking beyond my bipolar. With the skills and support to manage my symptoms, I am ready to make the most of my life and my abilities. There’s an end to saying ‘I survived the day.’ Now I’m more focused on what I can do to thrive. I’m not necessarily letting go of my struggle with bipolar disorder, but I am learning to thrive inside of it... I feel more optimistic than I have in a long time. In other words, I am embracing this ‘new normal.’ Basic milestones like keeping a routine, keeping your home organised and staying in contact with friends and family can begin to feel out of reach, being physically fit and healthy. A bipolar diagnosis doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to your hopes and dreams with patience, commitment, and a plan for setting realistic goals you can achieve anything you set out to do. It might take a little longer, and you might need some motivation to get there.
Letting go It’s important to take the time, to give yourself the time to be sad before moving on to make adjustments, before thinking about how you can have a really happy life. When I stopped comparing myself to others , my ‘new normal’ became less painful. I let go of the past and the ‘what ifs’ ‘what if I had done it differently.’ You can’t change the past, but you can change how your ‘today’ is going to be. Keep it real Lower your expectations too much and you’ll stay stuck. Aim too high and failure is almost certain. You need a just-right plan where you want to go with what you’re capable of right now. When a goal starts to take over someone’s time day or night, takes priority over having good relationships, or costs too much money or energy, that’s when you should worry. Sometimes you need to tone things down a little bit, keep it real. A new path Start by being more gentle with, and accepting of, yourself… to a certain extent, we all live wanting other people’s respect, but that craving can be more intense if you’re feeling insecure. A good way to set new goals is to look back at the ones you’ve already met, a lot of times they’ll be things that, six months before, you didn’t think you could do. Just because I have this illness doesn’t mean I have to feel sorry for myself and I don’t want other people to feel sorry for me, either.
