PROTECTION WITH PETS NOW we are all obliged to self-quarantine in our homes, some of you may be wondering what rules apply to our furry fourlegged friends. For those

with pets at home, this is the article for you. Firstly, it is important to note that neither dogs nor cats are carriers of the COVID-19. Maria Van Kerk-

to pets nor from pets to humans.” Social media is littered with fake information so stick to reliable news sources; pets cannot transmit the virus to humans so please do not abandon them. However, there are still some guidelines on how to care for your pet during this difficult time. Although the quarantine requires all residents to restrict their freedom of movement, the government has taken into account that almost 50 per cent of households in Spain live with a pet. Therefore, the government has allowed for petowners to take their dog(s) for a walk, as long as they do not take advantage of the circumstances. This

means avoiding all social contact, no walking with friends or large groups. You must walk your pet alone, as going for a stroll with a partner or child may incur sanctions from the police. This is because walking your pet is a necessity and exception to the quarantine rules, it is not meant to be a leisurely activity. Some hygiene guidance to take into consideration when caring for your furry companion is to always wash your hands after petting your animal, and to avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Clean their paws and tail before getting home just as an extra precaution. If you do test positive for coronavirus, find someone to

take care of your pet. If this is impossible, make sure you regularly wash your hands, avoid physical contact and wear a mask in the animal’s presence. Although they cannot transmit or catch coronavirus, it’s important to maintain the correct hygiene measures with your pets. It is always better to be safe than sorry. CAN AND CAN’T DOS SPAIN’S 15-day official state of alert due to the major coronavirus crisis means the government has imposed extraordinary restrictions countrywide on movement and daily life to protect public health and safety, contain the spread of Covid-19 and to reinforce the public health system.

• Staying at home and exceptions

Everyone is expected to stay inside their homes unless they have a valid reason for going out. People are allowed to circulate on public streets to buy food, pharmaceuticals and essential goods, for assistance at medical centres and to get to and from their workplace. The circulation of private vehicles for the above and to fill up at service stations is allowed. Activities have to be carried out individually, with the exception of accompanying people with a disability or for another justifiable reason.

• Education

All public and private schools, universities and education centres have been closed, but online educational activities or distance learning continue where possible.

• Open and shut

All businesses have had to close with the exception of those selling food and drink and essential items, pharmaceuticals, medication, and hygiene products, the press, vehicle fuel, technological and telecommunications equipment, animal food, and launderettes. The doors are closed to all museums, libraries, monuments, entertainment venues, sports facilities and leisure outlets.

• Civil and religious ceremonies

Any civil or religious ceremony has to be in accordance with the measures on avoiding gatherings of people, and with the guarantee, people are at least one-metre apart from each other.

• Public transport

Public transport is still running to enable people to get to work if they have to and to access basic services. Operators are required to take measures to ensure passengers are well separated and to clean vehicles daily in accordance with Health Ministry recommendations.

• Enforcement and fines

Law enforcement and State Security forces are ensuring compliance with extraordinary restrictions. People who do not obey the rules could face fines of up to €600,000 or even a one-year prison sentence in the most serious of cases.

TRAVEL ADVICE UPDATE THE FCO has updated its Travel Advice to state that from Tuesday March 17 until the end of the State of Alarm, Spain is closing its borders to those who wish to enter the country, with some exceptions. The land borders remain open for those leaving Spain. At present, air and maritime borders will remain open following the restrictions put in place by the Spanish government in response to the outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19). On March 14, the Spanish government introduced a State of Alarm, which imposes significant restrictions on movement throughout Spain in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Transport services will be operating at reduced levels. Public gatherings are banned, most shops, many businesses and all schools and universities are closed, and residents have been instructed to remain at home as much as possible. There are limited, specific exceptions to the requirement to remain at home, in particular

in order to buy food or other essential items, to return home to the primary residence, to go to work if unable to work from home and to carry out caring or similar duties. Urgent measures A NUMBER of urgent measures have been adopted by the Spanish government in a bid to protect the public after coronavirus plunged the country into an official ‘state of alarm.’ The moves are aimed at preventing the spread of the virus, maintaining social protection for employees and the self-employed and ensuring the supply and best distribution of medicines and health products. As such, workers who are infected with COVID-19 or forced into periods of isolation for their own protection, will be eligible for temporary incapacity benefit. The European Council held an extraordinary meeting on March 10, during which Heads of States identified four priorities. Firstly, to limit the spread of the virus. Members reiterated ‘as a maximum priority’ the health of citizens must be protected, and that all actions be based on scientific and health authority recommendations, with proportionate measures. Secondly, the consistent

supply of medication. It was agreed to entrust the Commission with the analysis of the public’s needs and the implementation of initiatives to avoid a shortage, in collaboration with industry representatives. Thirdly, the promotion of research, in particular for the development of a vaccine. And fourthly, deal with the socio-economic consequences. The Union and its members pledged to make use of all resources to support workers and small businesses. To respond to these priorities, the European Commission is working on two fronts sanitary and economic. On the health front, a number of actions have been announced. These include the coordination of measures through daily conferences with the Ministers of Health and Interior and the organisation of a team of epidemiologists and virologists from different Member States to propose guidelines at European level. An inventory of protective equipment and available

breathing apparatus is being drawn up, together with an assessment of production and distribution capabilities. And there will be a strengthening of a European initiative to fund specific research on coronavirus, with €140 million of public and private funding for vaccine research, diagnosis and treatment. The Spanish government approved measures on Saturday which means self-employed workers infected with coronavirus, or in forced quarantine will be eligible for financial aid. The pledge of support is reportedly ‘unlimited’ and will mean that self-employed workers who are forced to stay at home will be considered in the same way as employees on official sick leave by the Department of Social Security. Employers and people who work on a freelance basis will be able to postpone their Social Security payments for three consecutive months in areas and sectors which will be outlined by the health authorities. The contributions will be deferred for 12 months.

Residency fraud arrests POLICE have made 10 arrests as part of an investigation into residency fraud in El Ejido and Roquetas de Mar. Police said the detainees included the heads of a network dedicated to providing and managing documentation for foreigners in Spain who did not have the necessary paperwork to qualify for residency permits. The investigators discovered the network was charging non-EU citizens between â‚Ź500 and â‚Ź2,200 to obtain fraudulent contracts and documents so they could regularise their situation in Spain. Police first started looking into the possible fraud in November last year with the collaboration of the Almeria Immigration office. The investigation established that residency and work permit requests for exceptional circumstances were being presented by

Slum on fire TWO young men suffered serious burns when a fire broke out in in the early hours of last Thursday morning in a slum area of San Isidro in Nijar. The emergency services evacuated the victims, both Moroccan nationals, to the Torrecardenas hospital in Almeria City. They were subsequently transferred to the serious

burns unit at the Virgen el Rocio Hospital in Sevilla. Witnesses told the Guardia Civil that the blaze had been set off by someone mishandling a gas canister, which caused an explosion. The Guardia reported that a patrol headed to the district following alerts to the emergency services of a situation in the area. At first sight there was

CAUSE: The Guardia said some witnesses reported someone had mishandled a gas canister and caused an explosion.

At this stage an individual emerged from the dwelling with burns on his face and extremities, before passing out on the ground. Officers got him to a safe position and called for emergency health assistance. At the same time, neighbours warned officers that they believed there were more people inside the shack. In the dark, and avoiding the flames and dealing with the smoke, as well as negotiating their way past illegal connections to the power supply, the officers went in and discovered a burning gas canister. They managed to douse the flames and get it outside in order to prevent further explosions. With the help of another patrol which had arrived by this time, the Guardia evacuated 40 people, including children, from their homes as a safety precaution. This was when they came across the second victim with burns all over his body. They immediately requested urgent medical assistance.

THE Diputacion de Almeria has announced a financial package to help councils adopt measures to prevent coronavirus. The administration President Javier A Garcia extended the Emergency decree, with the consensus of all the political groups, with the aim of providing local authorities with the economic and logistic resources they need to adopt contention measures.

Wave of support FOLLOWING the national Government declaration of a ‘state of alarm’ for at least 15 days to combat the spread of coronavirus, residents and holidaymakers in Benidorm have pledged their support to local businesses, health care professionals and all those affected. Ed Cullen said: “Our thoughts are with the people who live and work in Benidorm at this time. Yes, we have been inconvenienced by losing our holidays, yes, we have lost money... but this is a short term issue for us. “For the businesses in Benidorm, this could have long term repercussions. Think about others at this time. Good luck to all the ‘locals’ in Benidorm." Cat Sanders added: “Here’s hoping that when all this confusion is over and the virus is contained, that we can all go back to Benidorm. We will be celebrating by going to pubs, restaurants and the beach. Spending money, being kind and tipping the waiters and cleaning staff who will be really struggling the next few weeks. Benidorm is our second home, a place we all love. It’s true that we need to take this virus seriously. It’s capable of causing severe illness, death, and drastic long-term changes to how we live and work. It could even cripple the economy. It’s easy to stay focused on those calamities as they seem to be the only topics covered on the news. But those thoughts would be counterproductive. Obviously, there are things you need to know about the coronavirus outbreak to protect yourself and those around you, but you do not need to become a COVID19 expert, nor do you need to hear about every unpleasant detail from dawn until bedtime.

COVID19 self test SPAIN’S Ministry of Health has created a coronavirus ‘self test’ online. Concerned members of the public can check symptoms and there is a questions and answers section related to COVID19. The interactive test has been developed by health personnel, and ‘provides the population with an agile and immediate system in which to find updated information on issues related to the coronavirus.’ A Conselleria Sanidade health spokesperson said: “The fact that the test customises answers through specific questions, makes it possible to offer recommendations adapted to the particular situation of each person.” There are four options, depending on the scenario - the option for people with possible symptoms, another for those in isolation offering advice, a third with recommendations for people who have tested positive and a fourth offers general information. It will run alongside other Ministry of Health initiatives, such as the freephone 900 400 166. Coronavirus crisis impact THE Euro Weekly News spoke to Costa Almeria residents, visitors and business owners in Mojacar to get their views on the coronavirus crisis. “I think the whole world has gone completely mad and it’s all just media hype. The beach ban just seems completely ridiculous,” visitor Tammy Sebire told EWN. Her friend Paula Jeeps agrees. Paula and her husband, who are renting in Mojacar while house hunting, are staying upbeat though. She said they plan to enjoy themselves and “just carry on with the G&Ts! “Knowing what’s happened in Italy they should have done it sooner. I think it’s the only way to stop it,” commented ‘swallow’ Carol Fisher on the drastic restrictions under the state of alarm, despite question marks about whether she and husband Allan can get back to the UK from Santander next month. Carol is not daunted by the “enforced staying in” as long as she has access to basic necessities as she has plenty of hobbies, although bird watching enthusiast Allan is less happy. One issue Carol and Allan did raise was dog walking, and whether that was going to be difficult. Geraldine and Brian Jones are in their 80’s and like the Fishers spend winter in Costa Almeria and summer in the UK. Geraldine’s main concern is not knowing how long the coronavirus crisis is going to last and whether they’ll be “trapped” in Spain

Road maintenance actions beefed up THE Diputacion de Almeria has announced it is beefing up maintenance of the provincial highway network with a €500,000 investment. Public Works deputy Oscar Liria said the administration has awarded a works contract which will mean additional actions to those

already carried out by the provincial highway service with the aim of maintaining the 1,200 kilometres of road making up the network in optimum condition. The new investment brings the total allocated to provincial road maintenance this year to nearly €2 million.

Liria said the administration regards highway maintenance as a priority. “Provincial highways are real generators of opportunities because they guarantee mobility, also the transport of agro-food production, and the flow of tourists,” the deputy commented.

An intense day of training GUARDIA CIVIL operating on the Costa Almeria underwent an intense day of training covering updates on actions to be taken in cases of missing persons. Officers from all the provincial units took part in the initiative. The aim was to familiarise them with the contents of the 2018 Secretary of State for Security Instruction and regulations on implementation to improve preparation and response in the activation and operation of disappearance early alert systems. The training included information about ‘Centro Nacional de Desaparecidos,’ responsible for putting out details and statistics about missing persons cases in Spain, the GREA Andalucia Emergencies Group’s resources for dealing with such cases, and the technical and logistical support. Another particular issue included in the day was the protocol for cases of child and other high risk disappearances. Personnel from GREA, the Guardia Civil Air Service, the Judicial Police and Citizen Security were the event trainers. Also taking part in the day was the SOS-Desaparecidos organisation: the president Joaquin Amills gave a presentation about how to deal with, protect and orientate the families of people who disappear and the importance of coordinating resources.

Triathlon plans THE provincial government has unveiled the planned dates and venues for this year’s Almeria Triathlon Circuit, although the days w e re s e t b e f o re t h e announcements on restrictions on public gatherings and the postponement of events in a bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. As it stands, trails are scheduled to take place in the provincial capital on March 26 and April 26 in the provincial capital, on May 10 in Vera and on September 26 in Tijola. The Cuevas del Almanzora event has already taken place. The Diputacion de Almeria says it wants to promote sport in all the province’s 103 municipalities and triathlon makes up just part of its broad programme of different sporting disciplines. Yes, a few things are challenging. But we can excel in our chosen specialised subjects/obsessions. Her’s is the planet. Whether you agree or not with her views. We should all agree that it is great she has found her purpose and confidence, so young. Because for many of us girls, teenage years can be the most difficult and confusing. The social norms that are expected of us don’t come easy. So, we tend to ‘fake it.’ Which is exhausting to keep up. That causes a lot of anxiety. This got me thinking about other social norms

I find odd because of my condition. Small talk is one, it seems so pointless. British etiquette too. Why are their unwritten rules about how you should eat and talk at a dinner table? It doesn’t make the food taste any better! Also, people invading my personal space. One of the things that the Coronavirus has forced us all to do is ‘social distancing.’ Standing apart from each other. I think it’s great! I’ve never understood why random strangers feel the need to invade your personal space if they’re not forced to. People who walk too close behind me really irritate me. It’s not that I think they will do something bad to me. I just don’t want them there! It’s just a shame the virus isn’t forcing people

not to tailgate on the roads here too! That’s another thing that winds me up. It’s so rude and dangerous, regardless of my Asperger’s! Because of my condition, I also have a few sensory issues. Smells and sounds can be heightened. Another silver lining of the virus is that people are wearing masks. Bad breath is one of the things I hate the most! Anyway, Coronavirus, or not. We should respect each other’s boundaries and health. Don’t cough and sneeze into the air, ever. Wash your hands regularly too. Brush your teeth too! We shouldn’t have needed a pandemic to remind of these simple things! Quite frankly, people seem to have lost their manners!

Dead baby arrest THE gruesome discovery of the body of a new-born baby in a rural area of Vicar last week led to the arrest of a young woman believed to be the mother a few hours later, Spanish media reported. According to Spanish press the detainee lives in a very humble property surrounded by greenhouses and smallholdings in the Las Cimillas area, and earns her living as a farmhand. POINTS BASED DRIVING LICENCE VALID DRIVING LICENCE You can legally drive in Spain with your existing driving licence for the first two years of residence, but after six months you must register your details with the provincial traffic authorities. At the time of publishing this article, UK nationals can exchange their UK driving licence for a Spanish driving licence. However with the Brexit process, we recommend you stay up to date via the gov.uk website. Driving licences need to be renewed every 10 years up to the age of 65, and then every five years. POINTS BASED SYSTEM Spain has a driving licence points system. Drivers start with 12 points and can loose points for fines depending on the severity of the offence. Once you loose all 12 points, you loose your licence for six months. A

traffic offence can be between two to six points, with a maximum of eight points in one day. If an offence is severe, it may result in the temporary loss of licence. Keeping all your points will help reduce your vehicle insurance premiums. Some of the offences where points are lost; driving while using a mobile phone or over the legal alcohol limit is six points. Whilst driving without a seatbelt is three points. FULL LOSS OF POINTS If you lose all your points, you will need to complete a road awareness course of a total of 24 hours that can be attended over your six to12 month ban period. And sit a driving theory test. You can check how many points you have by going to the Direccion General de Trafico (DGT) website, and create a password.

Donating blood in Spain LIVING in Spain can bring with it an array of issues which may not have been encountered when living in the UK. In Spain, Blood Components and Services are provided by 17 Regional Blood Transfusion Services. Despite their autonomous operations management, every regional service is fully incorporated into a unique and common Public National Health System, supplying a cohesive blood transfusion care to all citizens, residents, and visitors in Spain based on 100 per cent voluntary and non-remunerated blood donation. For more general information, visit www.msps.es. Anyone who has lived continuously in the UK between 1980 and 1996 (a minimum of one year) will not be able to donate blood in Spain due to the risk of transmitting mad cow disease. Similarly, there are restrictions if you have received a blood transfer in the UK. However, each region may have different rules about donation. Call the donation helpline on 935 573 500. Alternatively, visit www.donorsang.gencat.cat to find out if you are eligible. If you are eligible, you can give blood at your local hospital, or via the Spanish Red Cross (Cruz Roja) at one of their clinics, or in one of their mobile units. You can check dates and locations by visiting www.donarsangre.org. A donor card is not necessary to give blood. On the first visit you will have to provide DNI, NIE, passport or a driving licence. If you are already registered in the Blood Bank, you only need a donor card or a document with your name and surname. The process of blood donation takes just 10 minutes in which 450 ml are collected (equating to 10 per cent of the total blood circulation of an adult person). Despite huge technological advances, the only way for hospitals to obtain blood is through the generosity of the public. The blood is carefully screened for disease to make sure it is safe. After a tattoo, you must wait four months to be eligible to donate. After surgery, the exclusion period will depend on the type of intervention. After minor surgical procedures, you cannot donate blood for seven days or until you are fully recovered. After undergoing major surgery, you will not be able to donate blood for four months. REGULATORS around the world are banning the short selling of shares in vulnerable companies due to the coronavirus. In Spain a list of 69 companies listed on the Ibex Stock Exchange have been given this protection in order to ensure that the compa­ nies don’t suffer such a huge crisis in confidence that they go under. The disgraceful images of screaming individuals shoving others, including the elderly, out of the way and grabbing goods off the shelves like marauding animals is I’m afraid merely a reflection on how British culture and values have been dragged down over the last generation or so. If I am able to build a mansion in a town of cardboard houses, I don’t invite all those inhabitants to come and live with me. If they have made no contribution in the creation of my existence they will have no pride, respect or even understanding of my home and will ul-

timately tear it down. Digressing slightly it has just been announced that all those over 70 years of age may be restricted to their homes for up to four months! This could apply both in Spain and the UK. I can only say that if this does occur the decent and caring members of society must do all they can to aid and assist those who are in need and unable to help themselves. Let’s just show by example that the despicable actions of many who have been given succour in Western communities are a primitive disgrace and in no way acceptable in any civilised and caring society. We all have bills to pay and no physical items come for free. We all need a roof over our

head, clothes to wear and food on the table, but we need to learn when to clock off and spend time for ourselves and our family. Work is not our enemy! It only becomes our enemy when we allow it to take over our whole lives. As the saying goes ‘Energy flows where our attention goes.’ The question is, where are you allowing your attention to go? In today’s society, it appears success is measured on status, wealth and fame. We become so trapped and focused on how we believe that working hard and making money means we will be successful but is that really the case? The answer is no! How many of you think success should be measured by happiness, health, being at peace with yourself and surrounded by love and passion? Don’t get me wrong, if your work is something that you truly

enjoy and have a passion for then you are in a win, win situation but if you’re not, then it will always feel like it’s a chore. Do not give up on yourself, please do not think that making a living is all that we are set out to do. There are things that you can do that will enable you to make a living whilst also making a life! You have the power of choice and you can start to live rather than exist! Firstly you have to understand that starting the change is going to be hard work. It is so easy to fall back into old habits as that is what you have trained your mind to believe. Once you accept that you need to be consistent and committed to the change, you will be on the right road. Here are a few steps to help you with your work/life balance: 1. Schedule one thing that you look forward to each day-

This could be anything from 15 minutes meditation, listening to your favourite song, creating a new plan. Whatever works for you! 2. Ask for support - Asking for support doesn’t mean you are weak; in fact it takes great strength. Delegation is the key to success. 3. Concentrate on one thing at a time - whilst it’s great to multi-task, it’s also very exhausting. When you are working, work! When you have family time, focus purely on family time. 4. Set your priorities - Look at what you want your priorities to be, not what you think they should be. As yourself, If I could focus on one thing today, what would it be? Set that answer as your top priority then work on your second, third and so forth.

regularly wash your beard. This is essential, especially during the early stages of growing a beard, as trapped food and skin cells can cause irritation. Try using a conditioner to smoothen out the coarseness and gently pat until dry, being too vigorous with your drying can cause fuzziness and split ends. Learn to find the right kind of beard oil for your facial hair, some may be too heavy, too dry, or too shiny. Always look for natural and organic ingredients like jojoba or argan oils. A FOND FAREWELL DEAR Barry Duke, Thank you for writing the article ‘Heart breaking, the final farewell.’ I am in a similar situation with a rescue dog, as I do not know his true age. I have had him for six years and was told when I took him that he was ‘about five.’ He is about 80 per cent Labrador and suffers with his hips. He is on medication but finding it increasingly difficult to move far. I know I will have to decide soon when to have his life ended and reading your story has been a great help. We owe it to our canine companies to reward their faithfulness and constant friendship by giving them the dignity they deserve. I am a recent widow and also I feel too old to have another dog so this one is very special; although I have had many. I always read EWN and enjoy your input, keep up the good work. Your money or your life CORONAVIRUS is a threat to the global economy as well as to public health. The government must surely now extend the Brexit transition period and take a long-term approach to this crisis. Britain must agree with the EU to extend the Brexit transition period. Businesses and our communities will not cope with any more uncertainty during this outbreak. British companies who trade with the EU do not know what terms they’ll be trading on in less than a year. Add to this the disruption created by Coronavirus and it is reasonable to expect many businesses will not survive. Without decisive action, the government risks leaving us wholly unprepared Today, a large number of people are self-employed, part-time or on zero-hours contracts. That is why we need to think beyond the impact on employers and extend statutory sick pay to the self-employed and those who do not qualify from day one; otherwise many people will simply not be able to afford to self-isolate. This is a public health disaster waiting to happen. Something has to be done to ensure workers are not under pressure to turn up to work when sick, do not lose their jobs if they self-isolate, and receive the sick pay they are entitled to.

Sighs of water A COLLECTION of works entitled ‘Suspiros de agua’ (sighs of water), by artist Pilar Soler Peillet is running at the Adra Centro Cultural. Speaking at the exhibition inauguration, the artist said she had tried to “reveal the sentiment of emptiness and fullness, of duality as a constituent of human nature,” and in so doing, “explore the changing, non-permanent character of things, looking beyond the most evident, diving into the intimate.” As well as paintings, the exhibition features a contemporary sculpture installation with a tree and plaster books. Pilar Soler Peiller is a psychologist by profession, specialising in training and employment. She is a fine arts graduate, with specific training in photography and cultural mediation. She has had practical experience in art therapy, working with people with psychological disabilities who presented psychiatric problems. She has also participated in more than a dozen exhibitions with paintings, photographs and installations. Suspiros de agua runs until May 22.

Clams with Serrano Ham THIS week’s dish could hardly be called a recipe. It’s really just chucking a few ingredients in a pan. The only skill involved is keeping an eye on the clams and serving as soon as they’re open. Leave too long and they will become tough. Although this tapas bar staple is very easy it looks impressive and will have your guests thinking you’re a master in the kitchen! Clams (almejas) are readily available on the fish counters of the local supermarkets. I paid €3.85 for a bag with enough to serve four decent sized tapas. So, not only tasty, but thrifty! In a pan that has a lid

over a low heat for about 10 minutes. While doing this rinse the clams in a colander

under cold running water… discard any that are open and refuse to shut when you tap them. Pat dry with a tea towel. Once the shallots are softened turn the heat up, put in some torn up serrano ham. After a minute add two crushed garlic cloves, after another 30 seconds put in the clams and a glass of dry sherry (a bottle of Fino sherry in the kitchen is very useful). Put the lid on. The clams will start to open after a couple of minutes. Check after three minutes to see if they’re all open. Scatter with finely chopped parsley. Enjoy with crusty bread!

Watercolours centre stage PAINTINGS by some of the leading artists in the province feature in a new exhibition of watercolours at Mojacar’s La Fuente Art Gallery until the end of this month. Local Culture councillor Raquel Belmonte attended last week’s inauguration of the ‘Agrupacion Almeriense de Acuarelistas’ show, taking the opportunity to chat to some of the artists about their work. Association President Maria Mira spoke about the group’s progress since the association was first launched in 2008. She explained the 40 members meet every Friday to work together on their watercolours at El Bajo de Santa Teresa in Almeria. Painting initially under the eye of well-known Almerian artist and association honorary president Visconti, the group has over the years journeyed through the wonderful world of watercolours, which is identified with luminous hues and soft shapes. The association was fortunate to have Visconti’s expertise in guiding them along the way to capture the beauty of the province’s magical corners right up until his 94th year. There are 57 paintings by 22 artists in the exhibition. The most charming corners of Mojacar are strongly represented, as well as other places around Almeria and in different parts of the world. This is is the second time the association has exhibited at the La Fuente gallery. This time there is new lighting which further reinforces the beauty of the paintings on display. The exhibition runs until March 31. Opening hours are Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10am to 1pm. Entry is free.

The council said the main aim was to meet the needs of the municipal agricultural sector in terms of a basic network of communication in rural areas.
