Be Brexit Ready EXPATS on the Costa Blanca are being urged to be Brexit-ready with the latest online info and a roadshow in Alicante and Murcia. Up to £3 million has been set aside by the British Government to make sure all UK citizens in Spain are up-tospeed with all the facts at their fingertips by October 31. Extra support will be targeted at pensioners and disabled people, as well as those living in remote areas, with mobility difficulties, and those needing help with
language translation or interpretation. British Consul Sarah-Jane Morris said: “As we approach the date when we will leave the EU, we recognise that British nationals may want to speak to us individually about their concerns and to check if there is anything else they need to do. “By going to areas where there are a lot of British nationals, we hope to make this as easy as possible.” UK nationals living in Spain are being advised to prioritise registering as a resident by October 31 and to
sign up for email alerts from https://www.gov.uk/living-inspain and following Brits in Spain on Facebook. Those needing help with their residency applications will be able to find local organisations to support them once the funding has been allocated. Anyone who wants to speak to someone from the Consulate can visit at any point between 9.30am and 2.30pm. A roadshow will hit the trail on September 16 and will be touring towns across the Alicante and
Murcia provinces until October 23. The British Consulate is running the pop-up information stalls outside supermarkets where consulate staff will be on hand to answer any questions about Brexit, living in Spain and access to healthcare.
