Lifeguard assaulted A LIFEGUARD was assaulted on the La Venziola beach in the tourist town of La Manga del Mar Menor while protecting swimmers from a rogue boat. The vessel apparently entered the area strictly for swimmers only, meaning boats are prohibited because of the potential danger to bathers. The lifeguard issued a warning with his whistle which was ignored by the two people onboard the boat which proceeded to break through the protective jellyfish nets. Abandoned newborn A BABY girl has been discovered in a shopping bag, with her umbilical cord left dangling from her stomach at the entrance of somebody’s house in Torre Pacheco.
