PACMA said the animals w e re t i e d to ro p e s l i t t l e more than 20 centimetres long which restricted their movement when resting. T h e g ro u p a d d e d t h e way the donkeys were being treated was impacting their health, causing hoof and spine damage. “ T hey work 365 days a year and are never allowed to lie down to rest. During the night they sleep tied in small blocks of up to eight animals in 14 square m e t re s w h i l e h av i n g n o ro o m t o m o v e o r l i e down,” the group said in a statement. “During work hours t h e y a re t i e d , s o m e t i m e for hours, to metal structures while waiting for potenti al customers. T he y have no freedom of movement and cannot meet their own physical needs,” they added.
