Indesign,Iammostinterestedinmakingthingsbeautifulwhilealso functional.Ibelievethattheabilitytoappreciatebeautyintheworldis somethinguniquelyhumanandvitaltothehumanexperience.Sincethedawnof timewehaveusedourabilitytoperceivebeautytocreatetheworldasweknowit: creatingavarietyofarttomakeourlivesfullerandmoreenjoyable.Wecreate beautifulthingstoappreciatethecomplexityoflifeandourownexperiencesby elegantlycombiningorderandchaosinawayonlyhumansandnaturecan.
Fundamentally,designisintendedtomakeourlivesbetterandmore enjoyable,soIammostinterestedinachievingthisbyemphasizingnotjust function,butalsobeauty.Aswearehumanswhoyearnforbeautyinourlives,I believethatmakingdesignscomplexandaestheticallypleasingthings,should alwaysbeapriority.
Inarchitecture,forexample,peopleinteracteverydaywithdesigns,soa designthatuserscanfullyenjoy,evenjustbylookingatit,isessential.Bycreating beautifulbuildingthatalsosuccessfullyservetheirpurpose,peoplecanappreciate andenjoymorebeautythroughouttheirlives,whichIthinkinthelong-run makesahugeimpactongeneralsatisfactionandhappiness.Plainand unappealingdesignscanreallymakeanenvironmentevokesadnessanddespairin people'shearts:beautyisnotsomethingtobeignored.

Throughpracticingmanydifferentarchitecturaldrawingsinthiscourse,Ilearnednewwaysto observetheworldaroundme.BythinkingabouthumanoccupationandhowIfeltinaspace whiledrawingthem,Igotbetteratconsideringtheuserexperiencewhilethinkingofaspace.I discoveredhowandwhydifferentpartsofthesamelocationcanlookverydifferentandgiveoff verydifferentexperiencesasaresult,whichisessentialtotakeintoaccountwhiledesigning structures.Ialsodevelopedmyabilitytoaccuratelydrawperspective,whichhelpedmebeginto understandbuildingsaroundme’sstructuremoreandrecognizeitinmydailylife.Itwasalso interestingtolearnmoreaboutsectionsandelevationsastheyarehelpfulinseeingbuildings fromnewperspectivesthatcaneasilybeoverlookedwhiledesigning.

Ilearnedhowlightcanreflectthroughan object,especiallyglass.Thisactivity requiredmetobeveryattentivetoshadows ofvariousshapesandsizeswithintheglass whale,alongsidetheverylighthighlights wherethelightshonethrough. Additionally,asthisactivitywasalsodone withwatercolors,whichcannotbeerased, Ilearnedtopaintslowlyandcarefully.Imadesuretostartwithlightlayersandaddindeeper valuesdiligently.Overall,thisactivityhelpedteachmehowtopaycloseattentiontolightvs shadowsandhowtobepatientandcarefulwhiledesigning/makingart.

Reflection
Thisfinalprojecthelpedmelearntheimportanceoflettingyourselfexperimentindesign.Firstofall,asI wasnewtoRhinoatthebeginning,everythingItriedwasnewandunfamiliar,butthroughexploration,trial anderror,andnotbeingafraidtofair,Iwasabletoeventuallymaterializemyvision.Additionally,Ijust reallyletmyselfexploremanynewpossibilitiesinmydesignitself.Iexperimentedwithmanythingssuchas elevationanduniqueroofshapesthatIneverhadtriedbefore.WhenIfeltlikesomethingmightbebettera differentway,Iletmyselfchangemydesign;evenifitwasdrasticallydifferent,Ididn'tholdmyselfbackand waswillingtoexploredifferentperspectives.Studyingbeesinspiredmetocreateastructurethatsomewhat mimickedtheexperienceofabee,soIcreatedmypaviliontoresembleabeehivethroughitshexagonaltiles aswellastheorganicshapedesignedtomaximizeairflow.Attemptingtointegratebeesintomydesignsalso reallyhelpedmydesignprocessasitgavemeamorecleargoaltostrivefor,promptingmetopursueavariety ofuniqueideassuchasthehoneycombpillars.Overall,Ilearnedthisprojecthashelpedmeunderstandthe valueofchallenges.Challenges,whethertheyarelearninganewprogramorfollowingspecific guidelines/restraints,provideexcellentopportunitiesforgrowth.Theypushyoutoaction,canserveas excellentinspiration,andprovidenewconceptstoexplore.
