The IMEC Corridor and Trieste's role as a European gateway VISION

The future of global trade and Trieste as a key hub for the new international balance

TriBuCity meets with the President of Trieste Summit Association

As President of the Trieste Summit, what makes this project so important to you, and why do you think even the average person should feel involved and interested in the Imec Corridor?

Trieste was founded by decree of the Emperor of Austria with the aim of becoming the Empire's commercial port It grew as a city thanks to international relations, and its population itself is the product of immigration from various areas of the Empire and the Mediterranean I am convinced that Trieste can only continue to have a raison d'être by cultivating strong relations with the rest of the world

Over the past twenty years, we have witnessed a resurgence in the role of the Port of Trieste, largely linked to the fall of the Iron Curtain and the accession of our hinterland countries to the European Union This has fueled strong international interest, which has translated into significant investments in the port In my opinion, maintaining this international attention is a prerequisite for the city and port to continue to enjoy a future of growth and prosperity

This is my vision: a long-term perspective, perhaps not always easy to convey to the political world, which is often oriented towards immediate results But we work with future generations, our grandchildren, in mind
