What a season for the Tamarac Red Dragons soccer team! For 2 2 years , Coach M J. Bosco has led many of Tamarac ’s youth programs through wins , losses , playoff runs and rebuilding seasons . The goal has always been the same: have fun and compete for a championship, which this program has always accomplished

This year was extra special! By the second week of practice, it was clear this team was different. The players came together quickly as a true TEAM and went undefeated all season. They played with heart and determination, especially for their teammate who was injured. Every game, and especially the championship game, was played with passion, fun and fire as they fought to win it all for their friends and themselves. Congratulations , Red Dragons!

Did you know that the Tamarac B uilding Depar tment is accredited by the International Accreditation Ser vice (IAS)? The IAS is a nonprofit organization that evaluates agencies against rigorous , well- defined standards . Its accreditation process is aligned with criteria established by the International Code Council (ICC), the organization responsible for developing adopted building codes . This distinc tion is especially valuable because it eliminates guesswork , which is helpful given that requirements var y by cit y. Only 29 building depar tments nationwide are IAS-accredited . While Florida has hundreds of municipalities and counties , only a dozen have earned this prestigious accreditation . In Broward Count y, only one building depar tment has achieved this honor, Tamarac ’s

So, what does this mean for homeowners in Tamarac?

IAS-accredited departments are rare and recognized as top-tier in terms of permitting efficiency, inspection quality and internal quality management systems. Our mission is to leverage modern technology to enhance productivity while ensuring strict compliance with building codes and regulations. We are committed to reviewing plans efficiently, streamlining the permitting process and delivering timely, accurate ser vices. Through innovation and continuous improvement, we also educate the public and the construction industr y on current codes and procedures, supporting sustainable growth and well-planned development.

To better ser ve our communit y, we’ve made several improvements to the Tamarac .gov website, including the addition of a Permit icon that provides direc t access to ever y thing related to the building permit process This feature was designed with clear goals in mind: save time, reduce inperson visits and simplif y permitting

Licensed contrac tors can now complete paperless registration and be added to our system within one day. They can apply for permits online, upload

required documents and complete submissions without ever visiting our office - of ten within 4 8 hours . Contrac tors and homeowners can also check inspec tion times by 8 a m . on weekdays

Additionally, the website offers a comprehensive applications and forms section, providing jobspecific requirements For example, selecting the windows and doors option will display a checklist of required documents, eliminating guesswork, which is helpful given that requirements vary by City

We’ve also par tnered with Broward Count y to integrate the ePermit OneStop link on our website. This resource provides step -by-step guidance for processes such as asbestos cer tificates , transpor tation concurrency and environmental review, and notices of commencement, which saves valuable time for contrac tors and homeowners .

The Tamarac B uilding Depar tment is powered by highly skilled plan reviewers and inspec tors committed to delivering successful, codecompliant projec ts . To help your project move even faster, we encourage you to share our website and its resources with your contrac tors This simple step can streamline communication and significantly shor ten the permitting process , which is of ten delayed by missing or incomplete documentation .

Our office is located at 6011 Nob Hill Road and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a m . to 4 p.m . if you need assistance.

s Independence Day nears , communities across the United States eagerly anticipate fireworks illuminating the night sk y. Yet, amid the excitement, a sobering realit y lurks: the dangers of mishandled fireworks . With more than 3 1 , 30 0 repor ted fires ignited by fireworks in 202 2 and an estimated 1 0, 20 0 firework related injuries in the emergency room around J uly Four th , it ’s critical to always put safet y first.

It ’s not just adults who fall vic tim to these hazards; children younger than 15 years of age have the highest rate of fireworks injuries . As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s freedom , raising awareness of fireworks safet y is imperative Fireworks should be used by trained personnel, but if you choose to use legal consumer fireworks , follow these safet y tips from Tamarac Fire Rescue to ensure your Four th of J uly festivities sparkle with joy, not accidents .

• Never allow young children to handle fireworks Older children should be closely super vised .

• Use glow sticks as a safe fireworks alternative

• Soak sparklers in a bucket of water for a few hours before discarding. Hot items can ignite dumpster fires .

• Always have a garden hose or fire extinguisher handy.

• Only light one device at a time; maintain a safe distance af ter lighting.

• Instead of at-home fireworks , use red , white and blue silly string. It ’s fun for all ages .

• Never re -light or handle malfunc tioning fireworks .

• Never use illegal fireworks

• Never hold lit fireworks in your hands .

• Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol

• It ’s best to leave fireworks displays to the professionals . Family-friendly events like Tamarac ’s All-American Celebration is a fun and safe fireworks alternative

For more fireworks safet y information , visit Tamarac .me/FireworksSafet y.

What began as a tribute to family histor y and Haitian heritage has grown into a recognized South Florida spirits brand centered on culture, stor y telling and communit y connec tion .

Founded by G rammy-nominated singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and communit y advocate Melk y Jean , Saint Sauveur 1972 takes its name from the Saint-Sauveur ship that arrived in South Florida in 1972 carr ying Haitian refugees seeking new oppor tunities . The year is especially meaningful to Melk y Jean , as it also marks when her mother immigrated to the United States .

“ Saint Sauveur represents heritage, resilience, family, and legacy,” Jean said . “ It ’s about honoring where we come from and the sacrifi ces that made our oppor tunities possible ”

Inspired by generations of women in her family who brought people together through hospitalit y and tradition , Melk y Jean created Saint Sauveur to celebrate Haitian culture while fostering meaningful communit y connec tions

Beyond its growing presence in South Florida , Saint Sauveur 1972 is known for its commitment to giving back . Through the C arma Foundation , Jean suppor ts initiatives including food drives , school supply giveaways , scholarships , mentorship programs , youth athletic s , and disaster relief effor ts .

The company has also par tnered with local restaurants and businesses throughout Tamarac and Broward Count y, creating events and experiences that bring residents together through culture, music , food , and conversation .

As Saint Sauveur 1972 continues to expand , its mission remains the same: honoring heritage, celebrating culture, and strengthening the communities it ser ves

“ Tamarac still feels connec ted ,” Melk y Jean said . “ People genuinely suppor t one another here, and that means ever y thing when you’re building something from the ground up.” Residents can look for the Saint Sauveur 1972 booth at selec t Cit y of Tamarac events throughout the year
