Curricula Analysis a project by ESTIEM: a non-profit organization for European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management estiem.org
July 2023
The Curricula Analysis Project aims to provide stakeholders with detailed information about the current state of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) Bachelors' curricula. Therefore, this project intends to: Improve the international understanding of IEM Education; Provide Universities and Industries insights with the potential of supporting curricula development; Provide (potential) students a platform to explore the different IEM degrees available, to support their degree choices and data-based discussions on IEM Education; Support the development of ESTIEM's offerings to complement IEM students education.
Project background The framework of this project was initially developed in 2019 by the former Vice President of Education of ESTIEM (Duarte Oliveira) in collaboration with Diana Mendes and Rui Lima (professors of the University of Minho). Then the project altered by the Professional Development Committee and the outcomes of the analyses was made public in collaboration with the Analysis Committee.
Curricula analysed Until the current date, our project focused only on Bachelor programs named Industrial Engineering and Management or similar (Industrial Engineering, Business Engineering, etc.). 9 Bachelors programs' analyses can be seen in our dashboards. The programs were chosen mostly based on convenience of the team conducting the analysis, while trying to provide insights on multiple European countries.
How is the analysis done?
Collect the updated version of curricula
Add the basic aspects of the curricula to an internal database
Each course is added to the database and classified into one of the scientific fields*
The data is refreshed in the dashboard, to allow its visualization.
