INTERVIEWS
Each applicant will be required to attend an in-person interview with the Student Advisor/School Director which includes a tour of the facility, information on program requirements, mode of delivery, attendance expectations and grade requirements for graduation Students will be asked to provide documentation to satisfy Admission Requirements (listed below) prior to being asked to sign the Alberta Student Enrolment Contract.
STANDARD ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
● An Alberta high school diploma, verified by transcript, or non-Alberta Canadian equivalent, verified by transcript, or CAEC (previously GED). Students must have achieved a minimum of 60% in mainstream Grade 12 English.
● Transcripts of international students who have received their high school diploma outside of Canada will be verified through International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or World Education Services (WES) to be eligible for admission to the proposed program.
MATURE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
● Mature students must be at least 18 years of age.
● Mature students must complete the Canadian Achievement Survey Test for Adults (CAST) Level 3 with a minimum score of 615. We offer the CAST Test for a fee at the School - please inquire.
Canadian Language Benchmark Requirements:
Intermediate 6-7 CLB. The scores need to be consistent in Reading, Writing and Listening and meet the minimum requirement, however Speaking can be slightly lower. For example, Reading, Writing, Listening must be 5 (intermediate) or above for IELTS Score but Speaking could be accepted in the 4 range (low intermediate) as students can complete classes without giving verbal presentations for grading in class. If a single general overall test score is submitted, it must meet the minimum requirement.
The scores in the table above are what have been registered with the government as TEI minimum requirements for ESL students applying for the programs . The chart is a general guideline to measure scores submitted. Students must still be interviewed in person to gauge ability to attend programs. If a score is received from a test not listed above, research will need to be done to determine equivalency prior to acceptance.
SECOND ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS:
English Language Learners must demonstrate proficiency by completing the following English Assessment Exam: IELTS with a minimum overall band score of 6 with no band less than 5.5 in academic reading, 5.5 in writing, 5.5 in listening, and 5.5 in speaking tests. If English proficiency test are in IELTS, they must translate to the required band in CLB.
