Time To Change
Ptarmigans are members of the grouse family that spend most of their lives on the ground at or above the treeline. They change colors to camouflage themselves from predators and match the seasonal colors of their environment. It’s now time for them to turn white, with white bellies and white wings for better protection from their predators in the snowy white landscape that is on the way. Photo by Christopher B.
