Welcome to the

MAYOR’S

MESSAGE

Summer 2026 edition

of our Parks and Recreation Active Living Guide.

Welcome to the Spring/Summer 2026 edition of our Parks and Recreation Active Living Guide. As the days grow longer and the weather invites us outdoors, this guide is your gateway to discovering the many ways you can stay active, connected, and engaged in our vibrant community. Inside, you’ll find an exciting lineup of high-quality programs, events, and activities designed to appeal to all ages, interests, and abilities.

This season, outdoor celebrations return in full force. Signature events like Music in the Park and Movies in the Park will once again bring neighbours together to enjoy live entertainment and family-friendly fun under the open sky. We are also delighted to welcome back the Victoria International JazzFest to Bullen Field—an event that showcases incredible talent and draws audiences from across the region. These gatherings are a cornerstone of community life in Esquimalt, and it is always inspiring to see the enthusiasm and support they receive.

Esquimalt Recreation continues to offer a diverse range of programs that reflect our commitment to health, wellness, and lifelong learning. Whether your interests lie in fitness, sports, music, dance, visual arts, or cultural programming, there is something here for you. We also provide leadership opportunities, engaging social programs for older adults, convenient drop-in classes, and a wide selection of specialty summer camps for children and youth.

Our approach to recreation goes beyond physical activity—we strive to support overall well-being by fostering connection, creativity, and personal growth. For those interested in joining our team, Esquimalt Recreation offers a supportive and flexible work environment. We encourage you to speak with our Front Reception staff to learn more about these rewarding employment opportunities.

With activities taking place at the Recreation Centre, Sports Centre, Gorge Park Pavilion, and throughout the community, there is no shortage of ways to get involved. Popular events like Neighbourhood Party in June, Stories in the Park, and Music in the Park continue to bring people together year after year.

On behalf of Council, I invite you to explore this guide and take full advantage of all that our Parks and Recreation Department has to offer this summer.
