SELF LOVE IN THE AGE OF NOISE
ThatNeverPauses
There is a peculiar exhaustion that defines modern life. It is not always physical, nor is it easily explained. It comes from the constant hum of information, comparison, expectations, and invisible pressures. We wake up to screens, work through screens, relax through screens, and often measure ourselves through screens. In a world louder, faster, and more connected than ever before,, many people are quietly wrestling with a deeply personal challenge: feeling at peace with themselves. Self-love — once treated as a poetic idea or a wellness buzzword — has become one of the most necessary psychological skills of our time. Not because humans have suddenly grown more fragile But because life has grown more demanding, more visible, and more mentally crowded. Today, loving oneself is not indulgence. It is resilience.
By Aniksha Rachamalla
TheSilentRelationshipThatShapesEverything
Every individual lives two lives: the one visible to the world, and the one unfolding internally. Beneath achievements, appearances, and social roles exists a constant dialogue — the voice through which we interpret our successes, failures, and sense of worth.
This inner relationship quietly influences everything:
How we respond to setbacks
How we perceive criticism
How we handle comparison
How we treat our bodies and minds
How we navigate relationships
Yet, paradoxically, it is the relationship most people neglect.
We are taught how to build careers, maintain social etiquette, pursue ambition but rarely how to coexist gently with our own thoughts. Self-love, at its essence, is the art of cultivating that internal alliance.
Why Self Love Feels Unnaturally Difficult Today
It is not about thinking highly of oneself at all times.
It is about refusing to become one’s own harshest enemy.
Loving oneself sounds instinctive, but modern culture has complicated the process in subtle yet powerful ways.
The Era of Relentless Comparison
Never before have humans been so exposed to other people’s lives. Through social platforms, we witness curated glimpses of success, beauty, productivity, and happiness — often stripped of context, struggle, or imperfection.
Comparison, once limited to small social circles, has become infinite. We compare careers, lifestyles, relationships, fitness journeys, vacations, possessions, even emotional states. Over time, this habit reshapes perception. Contentment begins to feel conditional. Progress feels insufficient. Satisfaction feels delayed.
What remains largely invisible is a simple truth: No one publishes their confusion, self-doubt, or ordinary days with equal enthusiasm.
Comparison thrives on incomplete information.
When Productivity Becomes Identity
Modern society reveres busyness. Being overwhelmed is normalized; resting often requires justification. Many individuals subconsciously internalize a belief that equates worth with output:
If I am not achieving, improving, or producing — am I falling behind? This mindset, though widely accepted, carries a psychological cost. Human value becomes transactional. Rest breeds guilt. Slowness breeds anxiety.
Self-love challenges this narrative by reintroducing a radical idea: Existence itself is not a performance metric.
The Validation Loop
External validation has become instant, measurable, and addictive. Likes, comments, reactions — digital signals that can subtly influence mood and selfperception. While approval is a natural human desire, dependence on it destabilizes self-worth.
Self-love, by contrast, builds internal stability — a sense of worth not constantly negotiated with the outside world.
The Myth of Perfection
Modern life frequently markets perfection disguised as aspiration. Perfect bodies, perfect careers, perfect routines, perfect lifestyles. Perfectionism, often mistaken for ambition, fosters chronic dissatisfaction. Perfection is static and unforgiving.
Growth is dynamic and imperfect.
Self-love thrives only in the latter.
The Quiet Damage of Self-Rejection
The absence of self-love rarely announces itself dramatically. Instead, it reveals itself through everyday mental patterns:
Persistent self-criticism
Difficulty accepting compliments
Fear of failure or judgment
Chronic overthinking
Reluctance to rest
Emotional burnout
Constant comparison
When individuals treat themselves with consistent harshness, even success can feel fragile. Achievements may not translate into fulfillment if self-approval remains elusive. Without self-acceptance, nothing ever feels fully sufficient.
Reframing Self Love: Beyond Clichés and Comfort
Self-love is often trivialized into aesthetic rituals or motivational slogans. But authentic self-love is rarely decorative. It is deeply practical and, at times, uncomfortable.
It involves:
Setting boundaries that others may not immediately understand
Acknowledging emotional needs without embarrassment
Accepting limitations without shame
Allowing imperfection without self-condemnation
Choosing long-term well-being over short-term validation
Self-love is not passive self-soothing. It is active self-alignment.
The Modern Practice of Self Love
Self-love in today’s generation must coexist with digital life, ambition, competition, and constant stimulation. It is not about withdrawal from society but about psychological balance within it.
1. Curate Your Inputs, Protect Your Mind
Mental well-being is profoundly shaped by what we repeatedly consume. Digital environments influence thoughts, comparisons, and emotional states more than we realize.
A subtle yet powerful form of self-love is selective exposure. Unfollow content that triggers inadequacy or unhealthy comparison. Engage with material that educates, inspires, or genuinely enriches perspective. Attention is a psychological resource — protect it consciously.
Modern culture emphasizes timelines: success by a certain age, achievements by specific stages. Yet human lives unfold under vastly different circumstances.
Self-love involves respecting individual pacing. Progress delayed is not progress denied.
Life is not a standardized race.
speak to themselves in ways they would never speak to others.
Self-love begins with linguistic shifts. Instead of: “I am a failure.”
Consider: “This attempt did not work, but I can learn.”
Instead of: “I am behind.”
Consider: “My journey is unfolding differently.”
Thought patterns shape emotional reality.
4. Normalize Rest as Necessary, Not Earned
Rest is frequently treated as a reward rather than a requirement. Yet cognitive clarity, creativity, and resilience depend upon recovery.
Self-love recognizes human limits without attaching guilt.
Rest is not laziness. It is maintenance.
5. Practice Boundaries Without Apology
Boundaries are often misunderstood as rejection or selfishness. In truth, they are mechanisms of self-preservation. Saying “no,” protecting time, and limiting emotional overextension are acts of psychological maturity. Self-love requires acknowledging that constant availability is unsustainable.
6. Accept Imperfection as Structural to Growth
Perfectionism paralyzes. Fear of mistakes discourages experimentation, learning, and self-expression.
Self-love permits error. Mistakes are not character flaws; they are developmental data.
8. Allow Emotional Complexity
Strength is often misinterpreted as emotional suppression. Self-love involves acknowledging vulnerability without equating it with weakness. Sadness, confusion, anxiety, and uncertainty are not personal deficiencies — they are universal human experiences. Emotional honesty fosters resilience.
The Paradox of Confidence in the Digital
Age
Confidence today can be deceptive. Visibility may simulate self-assurance while concealing insecurity. External projection rarely reflects internal peace. Self-love stabilizes confidence beyond circumstances. It produces a quieter, less performative sense of self — one less dependent on comparison or approval.
Self Love as a Lifelong Evolution
Self-love is not a destination reached through a single realization or transformation. It is dynamic, fluctuating, and continuously negotiated across life stages.
There will be seasons of clarity and seasons of doubt. Moments of confidence and moments of insecurity. Self-love does not demand constant self-admiration. It demands consistent self-loyalty.
A Gentle Closing Reflection
Modern life encourages relentless improvement — better careers, better appearances, better lifestyles, better productivity. Amid this pursuit, individuals often forget a quieter necessity: maintaining a compassionate relationship with themselves. Self-love is not about believing you are extraordinary.
It is about understanding you are inherently worthy — even in ordinary, imperfect, uncertain moments. In a world obsessed with optimization, selflove becomes a stabilizing force. A reminder that growth need not be driven by selfcriticism, nor ambition by self-rejection. You are not required to become someone else to feel enough. You are not a project awaiting perfection. You are a person deserving patience. And perhaps the most freeing truth of all: Self-love is not about feeling confident every day.
It is about refusing to turn against yourself on the difficult ones.
People’s Take
Pooja – Parent
Self-love took on a completely different meaning after I became a parent. Earlier, it was about personal goals and selfimprovement. Now, it’s also about not losing myself while caring for everyone else. There’s this silent expectation that parents should always be selfless, but I’ve learned that constantly neglecting your own needs only leads to exhaustion and resentment. For me, self-love is allowing myself rest without guilt and remembering that my well-being directly affects my family’s well-being.
Siddharth Kothamasu – Business Analyst
In the corporate world, you’re almost programmed to chase the next milestone — appraisal cycles, promotions, performance ratings. I used to tie my self-worth entirely to how productive I was. If I had a slow week, I felt guilty. Over time, I realized how exhausting that mindset is. Self-love, for me, became about separating who I am from what I achieve. It’s understanding that rest isn’t weakness and that my value doesn’t fluctuate with quarterly results. That shift didn’t reduce my ambition — it made it healthier.
Rishika Bhanuri – Co-Founder
+ Creative Head At OO7- Luxury Menswear Clothing
Working in luxury fashion, you’re constantly surrounded by ideals — perfection, aesthetics, aspiration, image. It’s an industry built on refinement, which can subtly blur the line between creativity and self-pressure. Early in my journey, I often tied my sense of worth to how well a collection was received or how flawlessly an idea translated into reality. Over time, I realised how fragile that made my confidence.
Self-love, for me, became an internal stabiliser. It’s understanding that creativity cannot thrive under constant self-criticism. Some designs work beautifully, others miss the mark — but neither defines my value or vision. In an environment obsessed with external perception, self-love is what keeps me anchored. It allows me to create from authenticity rather than anxiety, and to embrace evolution instead of chasing unattainable perfection.
HAPPINESS
ACELEBRATION OF JOY, WELL-BEING, AND WHAT TRULYMATTERS
Every year on March 20, the world pauses — if only briefly — to acknowledge something deeply personal yet universally desired: HAPPINESS. Unlike most global observances tied to historic events or political milestones, International Happiness Day feels refreshingly human. It is not about remembering the past; it is about reflecting on how we live, connect, and find meaning today.
But how did happiness earn its own day on the global calendar? And which country consistently ranks as the happiest place on Earth? The answers reveal a fascinating blend of philosophy, public policy, and the evolving science of well-being.
By Aniksha Rachamalla
International Happiness Day, officially known as the International Day of Happiness, was established by the United Nations in 2012 While the idea may sound whimsical, its roots are surprisingly profound The initiative was largely inspired by the tiny Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, a nation that challenged traditional notions of progress. Rather than measuring success purely through economic output, Bhutan introduced the concept of Gross National Happiness (GNH) a framework emphasizing psychological well-being, cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, and good governance.
Bhutan’s philosophy sparked global curiosity: Should nations measure prosperity by wealth alone, or by the quality of human life?
This question resonated deeply at the United Nations, leading to a landmark resolution recognizing happiness and well-being as fundamental human goals. March 20 was chosen for its symbolic significance the March equinox, representing balance and harmony, themes closely tied to the pursuit of happiness
MORETHANAFEELING:THESCIENCEBEHINDHAPPINESS
Modern discussions about happiness are no longer confined to poetry and philosophy Psychologists, neuroscientists, and economists now study happiness with remarkable rigor. Research suggests that happiness is shaped by multiple factors:
Social connections – Strong relationships consistently rank as the greatest predictor of life satisfaction.
Mental and physical health – Well-being is inseparable from how we feel both emotionally and physically.
Purpose and meaning – People who perceive their lives as meaningful report higher long-term happiness
Economic stability – While money alone does not guarantee happiness, financial security reduces stress and improves quality of life.
Trust and safety – Societies with higher levels of trust often score better on happiness indices Happiness, it turns out, is neither accidental nor purely individual it is influenced by social structures, culture, and governance
Year after year, Finland claims the top position in the World Happiness Report, an influential study supported by the United Nations For many, this result is intriguing Finland is not known for flamboyant lifestyles or tropical weather Winters are long, daylight can be scarce, and yet its citizens report extraordinary levels of life satisfaction.
What explains this paradox?
1. Deep Social Trust
Finland ranks among the world’s most trusting societies. Citizens generally believe institutions are fair, corruption is low, and public systems function reliably
2. Strong Social Support
Accessible healthcare, quality education, and social safety nets reduce anxiety about basic needs — allowing people to focus on living rather than merely surviving.
3 Connection with Nature
Finnish culture places immense value on nature. Forests, lakes, and outdoor life are integral to daily routines, promoting mental clarity and stress reduction.
4 Work–Life Balance
Productivity does not come at the expense of personal time. Leisure, rest, and family life are respected cultural norms.
5 Modest Expectations, High Contentment
Perhaps most fascinating is Finland’s cultural mindset: happiness is less about relentless ambition and more about quiet satisfaction, stability, and equality
HAPPINESSAROUNDTHEWORLD:ACULTURALMOSAIC
International Happiness Day also highlights an important truth happiness looks different across cultures
In some societies, happiness is tied to community and family bonds
In others, it is associated with personal freedom and achievement
For many, it is about security, dignity, and opportunity
No single formula exists A bustling city café, a peaceful mountain village, a festival, or a solitary walk all can be sources of joy depending on perspective.
WHYADAYFORHAPPINESSMATTERS
At first glance, dedicating a day to happiness may seem symbolic Yet its significance is deeply practical.
In an era marked by rapid technological change, economic pressures, and mental health challenges, the observance serves as a gentle reminder:
Progress is not solely financial
Well-being deserves policy attention.
Emotional health is as vital as physical health.
Collective happiness is a legitimate societal goal.
Governments, workplaces, schools, and individuals are encouraged to rethink priorities to ask not just “How much are we producing?” but also “How well are we living?”
SMALLREFLECTIONSFORINTERNATIONALHAPPINESSDAY
While global reports and policies shape the broader conversation, happiness often begins with ordinary, deeply human moments:
Reconnecting with someone you’ve been meaning to call
Spending time outdoors
Practicing gratitude
Resting without guilt
Helping someone else
Simply slowing down
These are not grand gestures yet they form the architecture of everyday joy
THEQUIET POWEROF HAPPINESS
International Happiness Day does not demand celebration in the traditional sense. It invites awareness It asks us to examine how modern life shapes our minds, relationships, and sense of fulfillment.
In the end, happiness may not be a destination or a permanent state It is a dynamic experience built from balance, meaning, connection, and perspective
And perhaps that is why it deserves its own day.
CONCLUSION:HAPPINESSASAWAYOFLIVING
International Happiness Day ultimately offers more than a date on the calendar — it presents a philosophy. It gently challenges the modern obsession with speed, comparison, and constant achievement, reminding us that happiness is rarely found in extremes. Instead, it thrives in balance, relationships, purpose, and the ability to appreciate ordinary moments.
The global conversation around happiness, sparked by visionary ideas and supported by growing scientific insight, reveals a powerful truth: wellbeing is not accidental. It is shaped by how societies function, how communities connect, and how individuals choose to live each day
Perhaps the most meaningful takeaway from this celebration is its simplicity. Happiness is not always loud, dramatic, or Instagramworthy. Often, it is quiet — a sense of contentment, security, belonging, or gratitude that unfolds in everyday life
And so, International Happiness Day is less about chasing joy and more about recognizing it — in small pauses, human connections, and the subtle rhythms of life that truly sustain us

World Happiness Day reminds me that happiness today feels very different from what social media shows us. It’s no longer about grand celebrations or constant excitement. For many of us juggling careers, deadlines, and digital overload, happiness is simply a peaceful evening, a good conversation, or a moment without stress. The day feels like a gentle pause button — a reminder that contentment can be quiet, ordinary, and deeply personal
Prakul
AssistantProjectManager
As a project manager, World Happiness Day resonates with me in a very practical way. In a profession driven by deadlines, risks, stakeholder expectations, and constant problem-solving, happiness rarely comes from everything going perfectly — because that almost never happens. Instead, it comes from progress: a milestone achieved, a team pulling together under pressure, a challenge resolved, or even a well-learned lesson from a setback. This day reminds me that workplace happiness is deeply connected to team dynamics, recognition, and psychological safety. When people feel heard, supported, and valued, productivity naturally follows Sustainable success isn’t built on pressure alone; it’s built on motivated and mentally balanced teams. For me, happiness at work is seeing collaboration replace chaos, clarity replace confusion, and resilience replace stress. World Happiness Day is a timely reminder that even in high-pressure environments, small wins, empathy, and appreciation can significantly shape both performance and well-being.
SrilathaRachamalla Pre-primaryTeacher
World Happiness Day feels less like an abstract idea and more like something I witness every single day. Young children experience happiness in its purest form — through play, curiosity, laughter, and tiny discoveries. A new crayon, a shared snack, or a simple compliment can light up their entire world. Working with children constantly reminds me that happiness doesn’t depend on achievements or material things; it thrives in connection, attention, and emotional security. When children feel safe, loved, and encouraged, joy naturally follows. Their excitement over the smallest moments often makes adults rethink what happiness truly means. It is a beautiful reminder that joy is a skill we don’t need to chase — it’s something we already know but sometimes forget.

THEQUIET REVOLUTIONOFCLAY:
WHYPOTTERYISCAPTIVATINGTHE MODERNWORLD
In a time defined by screens, speed, and relentless digital noise, an ancient craft is finding new life in contemporary culture. Pottery — one of humanity’s oldest art forms — is experiencing a remarkable resurgence. From urban studios to weekend retreats, people are rediscovering the simple joy of shaping clay, not merely as an artistic pursuit, but as a deeply personal ritual of calm, connection, and creativity.
What was once seen as a niche or traditional craft has gracefully evolved into a modern lifestyle movement.
A Return to Slow Living
Modern life rarely slows down Our routines are saturated with notifications, deadlines, and constant stimulation. Pottery offers something radically different: stillness
Working with clay demands patience. There is no rushing the wheel, no shortcuts in drying, no instant results. The process itself becomes the reward Hands sink into cool, yielding earth; thoughts begin to quiet. It is an experience that contrasts beautifully with the instant gratification of the digital world
Many enthusiasts describe pottery as a form of meditation a space where time softens and mental clutter dissolves.
The Artistry Behind the Craft
Pottery is far more than shaping mud into vessels It is a dialogue between human touch and elemental forces earth, water, air, and fire
Each piece carries the fingerprint of its maker Slight asymmetries, delicate textures, subtle variations in glaze these are not flaws, but signatures of authenticity The craft marries technical skill with artistic intuition, blending physics with poetry.
From minimalist tableware to sculptural art pieces, pottery celebrates imperfection, individuality, and the beauty of the handmade values increasingly cherished in an age of mass production.
Residential Courses: The New Creative Escape
One of the most fascinating shifts in pottery’s revival is the growing popularity of residential workshops and retreats. People are willingly stepping away from their routines sometimes for days or weeks to immerse themselves in clay.
These courses are not just about learning technique. They offer a rare kind of mental reset Participants often describe the experience as therapeutic: waking up to quiet surroundings, spending hours at the wheel, and embracing a rhythm dictated by creativity rather than obligation.
For many, such retreats become transformative experiences a reminder of the joy found in making something tangible and meaningful
Pottery as a Path to Peace
Beyond skill and aesthetics, pottery fulfills a deeper emotional need The tactile nature of clay has an almost grounding effect. It reconnects individuals with physicality in a world dominated by virtual interaction
The repetitive motions centering, pulling, shaping bring a soothing predictability
There is comfort in the process, in the focus it requires, in the silence it creates
It is not surprising that pottery is increasingly recommended as a stress-relieving hobby
The studio becomes a sanctuary, the wheel a gentle anchor.
Shared Creativity: From Friends to Couples
Pottery is also becoming a social experience Studios today are filled not only with solitary creators but with friends laughing over uneven bowls, colleagues bonding beyond office walls, and couples discovering a refreshing alternative to conventional dates
Creating alongside others introduces a unique form of connection. There is vulnerability in trying something new, humor in imperfect results, and shared pride in finished pieces. Unlike passive social activities, pottery encourages collaboration, conversation, and presence.
For couples especially, it offers something rare a moment of playful creativity without distraction.
The Rise of Experiential Hobbies
The renewed love for pottery reflects a broader cultural shift People are increasingly valuing experiences over possessions, authenticity over convenience, and mindfulness over multitasking.
Pottery embodies all of these ideals. It is immersive, sensory, and deeply human. It provides both escape and engagement, solitude and community.
In many ways, the craft’s resurgence signals a collective craving a desire to slow down, create, and reconnect with something elemental

More Than a Trend
While pottery’s popularity may seem like a modern phenomenon, its appeal is timeless. Across centuries and civilizations, humans have turned to clay to create, express, and find meaning. What’s changing today is not the craft itself, but the reasons people seek it. Pottery is no longer confined to artisans or specialists. It has become a universal refuge — accessible, therapeutic, and profoundly satisfying. In shaping clay, people are, perhaps unknowingly, reshaping their relationship with time, creativity, and themselves. And in a restless world, that may be its most beautiful creation of all.
Peop
Padma Home Maker
As a homemaker, my days are full — managing the household, caring for my family, juggling endless responsibilities that rarely pause. Somewhere between routines and obligations, I felt the need for something that was just mine. That’s when I discovered pottery. Working with clay has a strangely calming effect. The moment my hands touch the soft, cool earth, the noise of daily life seems to fade. There is no rush, no pressure, no expectation of perfection. The wheel turns, my thoughts slow down, and for that brief time, I am completely present. Pottery also gave me something I didn’t realize I was missing — a sense of creation that felt deeply personal. As homemakers, we constantly build and nurture, but pottery offered a different kind of fulfillment. To shape something from scratch, to watch it transform under my hands, felt incredibly rewarding. What surprised me most was how therapeutic it became. It wasn’t just about making bowls or cups; it was about patience, acceptance, and embracing imperfections. Every uneven edge or unexpected curve felt like a gentle reminder that beauty doesn’t need to be flawless. Today, I don’t see pottery as an escape from my life, but as something that beautifully complements it.
Student Preet
When we first signed up for a pottery workshop, I assumed it would be slow and maybe a little boring But the moment we sat at the wheels, covered in clay and laughing at our complete lack of skill, it became fun instantly
What surprised me most was how calming it felt. No phones, no pressure just the simple joy of creating something with our hands Our pieces weren’t perfect, but that didn’t matter. The laughter, the mess, and the shared experience made it memorable. Pottery wasn’t just an activity that day it became a moment of pure, stress-free happiness with friends.
Sonali Rachamalla Operations Manager
“Pottery became an experience I didn’t know I needed.”
Between deadlines and a fast-paced work routine, life rarely slows down. Going for a pottery session with my cousin sisters felt like a simple outing at first, but it turned into something far more refreshing. There was something incredibly relaxing about working with clay, laughing together, and being completely present without work or distractions. It felt creative, grounding, and surprisingly therapeutic What I thought would be just a fun activity became a beautiful break one that left me lighter, calmer, and deeply grateful for the time spent together.

Could you share a bit about your background, family life, and what personal values or experiences have most shaped who you are today?
Hi, I’m Aashritha Mazumdar, based in Hyderabad, and I come from a close-knit joint family that has always been my emotional anchor. Growing up surrounded by love, discipline, and strong values shaped my outlook toward both life and business. I hold a B.Tech degree in Computer Science Engineering and an MBA in Marketing and Operations, but beyond academics, I’ve always been someone driven by curiosity and creativity. I’m an entrepreneur at heart- constantly brainstorming new business ideas, observing markets, and thinking about what I can build next. When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me gaming, experimenting in the kitchen, planning my next trip, or spending quiet time amidst greenery. I also love discovering the artist inside me every now and then whether it’s through aesthetics, storytelling, or simply creating something meaningful from scratch. At my core, I believe in building things with intention- businesses, habits, and a life that feels aligned.
What role has your personal life (such as family support, challenges, or key relationships) played in fueling your entrepreneurial spirit?
My family’s support has been the backbone of my entrepreneurial spirit. My father has always encouraged me to pursue my ideaseven the uncertain ones and never limited my ambition. His belief in me gave me the confidence to take risks and think independently. Watching his journey, his struggles, and his achievements taught me that entrepreneurship is built on patience, consistency, and courage. I proudly say I am my father’s daughter and much of my drive comes from him.
Looking ahead, what are your top professional goals for the next few years, and how do you hope to inspire other women in business?

My vision is to grow Juicy Gossip into a national and eventually a global wellness brand, one that makes health accessible, sustainable, and community-driven. I don’t want wellness to feel intimidating, expensive, or reserved for a select few. I want it to feel simple, inviting, and easy to incorporate into everyday life. Juicy Gossip was born from a very personal belief that taking care of your body should feel enjoyable, not restrictive. In today’s fast-paced urban lifestyle, especially in corporate environments, people often compromise on nutrition due to convenience. I wanted to create a solution that fits into their routine seamlessly- quick, functional, and genuinely nourishing. Beyond products, my vision is to create spaces that encourage both physical and mental well-being. Whether it’s a kiosk in a corporate hub or a larger experiential format in the future, I want Juicy Gossip to feel like a small pause in someone’s busy day, a reset button. A place where wellness feels warm, aesthetic, and approachable. As a woman entrepreneur, I also hope my journey encourages others to trust their instincts and take bold steps, even when they feel unprepared. I started Juicy Gossip in a space where I had no prior experience, but I had conviction. And I believe that’s often enough to begin. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start. You just need clarity of intention and the courage to move forward.
I completed my MBA in 2020 and co-founded a movable homes firm during the COVID period. Despite the uncertainty, we executed several projects across Hyderabad and later expanded to Bangalore. That phase taught me adaptability and perseverance. I later returned to Hyderabad to join my father in our family business while simultaneously building independent ventures. Most recently, I began working on my healthforward wellness brand, Juicy Gossip. Though I had no prior experience in the food and wellness industry, I immersed myself in research and hands-on learning. After hosting a few successful pop-ups, the positive response reinforced my belief in this vision. Building something from scratch in a completely new space has been my proudest milestone so far.
JaneSerena
Could you share a bit about your background, family life, and what personal values or experiences have most shaped who you are today?
My name is Jane Serena Chintha, and I’m a 26-year-old marketing professional, content creator, and founder. I was born and raised in Hyderabad, India, and moved to the UK in 2022 for my MSc in Marketing Management at the University of Aberdeen. That move alone shaped me in ways I never anticipated, it taught me independence, resilience, and the courage to build a life from scratch in a new country.
I come from a family that values education, integrity, and hard work. Growing up, I was always encouraged to think independently and speak confidently, which, ironically, is something I had to relearn when I stepped into new spaces abroad. My upbringing instilled in me strong values: authenticity, faith, perseverance, and the belief that women should take up space unapologetically. One of the biggest experiences that shaped me was navigating identity, being a South Asian woman building a career in Western spaces while still holding onto my roots. That duality shaped my voice, my creativity, and ultimately my purpose. I believe deeply in representation and in creating rooms where women of colour don’t just sit at the table, they lead it.
What role has your personal life (such as family support, challenges, or key relationships) played in fueling yourentrepreneurial spirit?
My entrepreneurial spirit didn’t appear overnight. It was fuelled by both support and struggle.
Moving countries alone was one of the hardest and most transformative things I’ve done. There were moments of doubt, loneliness, and feeling like I didn’t fully belong, especially as a woman of colour in corporate and creative spaces. But those experiences didn’t weaken me; they sharpened my vision.
My family’s quiet belief in me has always been my anchor. Even when they didn’t fully understand the influencer world or creative entrepreneurship, they trusted my ambition. That trust gave me confidence to explore unconventional paths.
Key relationships have also shaped me deeply, friends who believed in my ideas before they were tangible, mentors who saw potential in me, and even critics who unintentionally pushed me to refine my voice. Every challenge strengthened my conviction that I didn’t just want to succeed personally, I wanted to build platforms for others like me.
Looking ahead, what are your top professional goals for the next few years, and how do you hope to inspire other women in business?
Over the next few years, my goal is to scale Hometown Media into a globally recognised platform that truly shifts how brands approach diversity in influencer marketing. I want to create sustainable opportunities for creators who often feel overlooked. Most importantly, I want to inspire women, especially women of colour, to stop waiting for permission. You don’t need to see someone who looks like you in a space to enter it. Sometimes, you have to become that person.
If my journey represents anything, it’s this: You can be soft and strategic. Creative and corporate. Traditional and innovative. You don’t have to choose one version of yourself to succeed.
Walk us through your entrepreneurial path so far: key milestones, biggest challenges overcome, and the venture you're most proud of building.
My professional journey began traditionally, I pursued an MSc in Marketing Management at the University of Aberdeen and then worked in marketing for a renowned skincare and fragrance brand, first on the UK market and later on a global scale. That experience gave me corporate structure, strategic thinking, and an understanding of how global brands operate. But alongside my corporate career, I was building my personal brand. As a content creator with over 100,000 followers, I experienced firsthand how underrepresented creators of colour are in mainstream western campaigns. That frustration became the seed for my entrepreneurial venture: Hometown Media.
I founded Hometown Media to bridge the gap between global brands and diverse creators, particularly creators of colour who have left their hometowns and are trying to build something new elsewhere. It’s not just an agency; it’s a community. We aim to create a database of diaspora creators, connect them with brands that value diversity, and build local communities where creators can collaborate, grow, and feel supported.
One of my proudest moments was realising that what started as a personal struggle had evolved into a structured business vision. Turning pain into purpose, that’s what I’m most proud of.
This Women’s Day, I hope more women step into leadership not by imitating existing models, but by building new ones.
VidehaVani
Could you share a bit about your background, family life, and what personal values or experiences have most shaped who you are today?
This is Videha Vani. I come from a close-knit and deeply supportive family that has always encouraged me to explore who I truly am. Growing up, I was an active and curious child. I loved sports, dance, summer camps, and anything that allowed me to express myself. Those early years shaped my confidence and helped me understand the importance of discipline and commitment.
Academically, I initially followed a conventional path. After completing my MPC, I considered engineering like many others around me. But somewhere along the way, I realized I wanted something different, something more creative and expressive. That’s when I made one of the most defining decisions of my life: I chose to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). During my BFA, I was introduced to photography and performance spaces, which eventually led me into modeling and theatre. That exposure changed everything. It allowed me to interact with people from diverse creative backgrounds and helped me discover my true passion. The values that shape me today are dedication, hard work, honesty toward my craft, and most importantly, integrity. I strongly believe in being transparent i.e., both with others and with myself. I also believe in not judging situations or people too quickly. Every experience teaches you something, and I carry that openness with me in both life and work.
What role has your personal life (such as family support, challenges, or key relationships) played in fueling your entrepreneurial spirit?
My entrepreneurial spirit didn’t come from a single moment, in fact, it grew from curiosity. I have always been someone who wanted to try everything. Whether it was dance, sports, learning guitar, exploring new crafts, I’ve always been fascinated by the process of learning. That curiosity became my biggest strength. It taught me that growth happens when you step into unfamiliar spaces.
Family support has played an enormous role in my journey. My parents have stood by me through every unconventional choice I made, especially when I chose arts over a more traditional career path. Their trust gave me the courage to trust myself. My brother and my closest friends have also been my strongest pillars because they constantly encouraged me, celebrated even my small wins, and always help me navigate challenges. Knowing that you have people who believe in you gives you the confidence to take risks. And entrepreneurship, in any form, requires courage, which is much easier to find when you feel supported.
Looking ahead, what are your top professional goals for the next few years, and how do you hope to inspire other women in business?
Looking ahead, my biggest professional goal is to work in powerful films that carry strong messages. I want to be known for the depth and quality of my roles rather than fitting into a stereotypical “heroine” space. For me, quality over quantity will always matter. I want my work to leave an impact.
I also dream of creating a space, perhaps a creative platform or studio where aspiring artists, especially young women, can access opportunities like photoshoots, portfolio building, and mentorship. I know how overwhelming it can be to start without guidance, and I would love to make that journey smoother for others.
Walk us through your entrepreneurial path so far: key milestones, biggest challenges overcome, and the venture you're most proud of building.
As for inspiring other women in business, I truly believe in uplifting and rooting for each ther. There is space for all of us to grow. When women support women, we create powerful ecosystems instead of competition. I want to lead by example by being confident, authentic, and supportive. If my journey encourages even one woman to take a bold step toward her dream, that would mean everything to me.
My professional journey truly began when I stepped into theatre. That was a turning point not just professionally, but personally. Theatre helped my family understand how serious and passionate I was about my craft. It was the moment my dreams started becoming real.
Some of my key milestones include performing confidently on stage, stepping into different creative projects, and eventually featuring in television commercials that gave me recognition and visibility. Each opportunity pushed me to grow.
However, my biggest challenge wasn’t external, in fact it was internal. I struggled with self-doubt. I used to overthink, judge myself harshly, and feel underconfident. Learning to believe in myself has been one of my greatest victories. Once I started trusting my abilities, doors began to open.
One venture I’m especially proud of is building myself from scratch in the sense, without industry backing or a ready-made support system. When I started, I didn’t have many people to guide me. Today, people reach out to me for advice, and I share whatever experience and insights I’ve gained. Being able to support and guide others who are starting out feels incredibly fulfilling. That growth, from seeking help to being someone others seek, is something I cherish deeply.

A TOUCH OF INDIA: MODERN LIVING WITH TRADITIONAL ELEMENTS
Ever felt like your home was missing something? Perhaps it's a dose of Indian charm! By incorporating elements of Indian traditional decor, homeowners can add a touch of warmth, character, and personality to their living spaces. From intricate carvings and vibrant textiles to handcrafted furniture and stunning artwork, there are countless ways to incorporate Indian elements into modern design. Join me as we discover how to incorporate traditional Indian decor into your contemporary living space.
1. WOODEN TRADITIONAL DOORS AND WINDOWS
To bring a traditional touch to modern architecture, a great starting point is incorporating Indian-style wooden door and window frames. These intricately designed doors, often crafted from rich woods like teak or rosewood, exude a sense of royalty and cultural heritage, elevating the overall aesthetic of a contemporary living space. By integrating traditional craftsmanship into these elements, the design bridges the gap between modern functionality and cultural depth. Additionally, traditional window frames, often inspired by antique architectural styles, evoke the charm of old-world homes, giving the space a sense of history and timeless appeal.
2. A TRADITIONAL JHOOLA
Another great way to infuse an Indian touch into your living space is by incorporating a traditional-style Jhoola (swing). This timeless piece not only enhances the richness of your interior design but also adds a playful, nostalgic element. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it offers a cozy and unique seating option, perfect for relaxing or spending quality time with family and friends. A Jhoola seamlessly blends comfort and cultural elegance, bringing warmth and personality to your modern home.
3. LOW HEIGHT SEATING
Incorporating low seating sofas is another excellent way to bring a touch of Indian charm into your living space. Drawing inspiration from traditional Indian seating arrangements like diwans and floor cushions, these low-profile sofas create a cozy, grounded atmosphere that feels both welcoming and stylish. Available in rich fabrics, vibrant colours, and ornate patterns, low seating sofas can easily become a focal point while complementing the overall decor.
RUG
To complement the low seating sofas, you can further enhance the Indian aesthetic by incorporating Indian-design rugs and cushions. To take it a step further, adding Kantha stitch quilts draped over the sofa can significantly amplify the traditional Indian vibe. Together, these elements create a harmonious blend of comfort and heritage, enriching your home’s interior with a strong connection to Indian craftsmanship and culture.

Incorporating an antique traditional chest as a tea table or decorative piece can beautifully enhance the Indian theme of your home. These vintage chests, often adorned with intricate carvings, metal accents, and rich wood textures, bring a sense of history and timeless elegance to your space.
Repurposing such a chest as a tea table not only adds functional charm but also serves as a conversation starter, blending utility with cultural flair.
7. INDIAN PAINTINGS
Hanging Indian artwork, such as Madhubani, Warli, Dhokra, or Santhal paintings, is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to infuse a modern space with Indian culture and aesthetic. Whether arranged as a gallery wall or as standalone pieces, they add a layer of cultural depth and artistic flair, making your home feel more connected to India’s diverse artistic legacy.
Another way to bring an Indian touch to your home is by opting for jute blinds instead of modern curtains Jute, a natural and eco-friendly material, introduces a rustic, earthy vibe that reflects traditional Indian craftsmanship. The natural fibres of jute create a raw, organic aesthetic that complements both modern and traditional decor, making them a versatile choice. Plus, these blinds are easy to maintain and durable, blending beauty with practicality for an authentic, eco-conscious Indian-inspired interior
