OUR HISTORY

We are Candylab, a toy company that revives the glamorous 1950s and 1960s American modernist vibe and carves it into awesome contemporary wooden toys.

As artists, designers and parents we draw on many influences, not least of which is our deep love of classic American Cars and the craftsmanship spirit of mid-century modernist furniture designers. We've created a line of heirloom wood toys that are elegant, and simple, giving kids a chance to create their own stories around the objects they play with.

Years of experimentation, development, testing and relentless encouragement from friends, family and perfect strangers at the playground have resulted in a multitude of designs that we are excited to share.

STAYING SUSTAINABLE

A 5,000-year-old toy, anyone? Ok, that's a bit dramatic, in the sense that it won't be a toy anymore, but the plastic used to make it will still be around. Plastic doesn't ever disappear, it just keeps breaking into smaller and smaller pieces, ending up in living organisms worldwide. Metals, rubber, textiles, and lots of other materials break down completely in nature after some decades. Not plastic. Did you know that more than HALF the plastic worldwide has been produced only since 2008?

We firmly believe that wood as a natural, renewable resource can be just as versatile as plastic when it comes to building engaging and attractive toys. Our mission is to make wooden toys better than plastic ones, with zero compromises.
