ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR EXPOSITORY PREACHING The Centre for Expository Preaching seeks to provide pastors, teachers and ministry leaders with a firm grounding in expository ministry through seminars, courses and workshops on biblical exposition. Handling the Word Effectively Most churches recognise that effective faithful preaching and teaching of God’s Word occupies a central role in the local church. Yet many also readily acknowledge that, while leadership and ministry training programmes abound, intentional training and nurturing of preachers and teachers who can rightly and effectively handle the Word remains one of the most pressing needs in the local church.
6 CORE PRINCIPLES 1 Staying on the line of Scripture, never straying above or below. 2 Letting the Bible shape our frameworks rather than letting our frameworks shape our ‘interpretations’ of the Bible. 3 Teaching the emphasis of our text well by first apprehending the structure. 4 Understanding how the original audience understood a text in order to know how it applies today. 5 Understanding the whole book in order to better handle each specific text. 6 Showing the Gospel at every point in order to teach the Bible as Christians.

Expository Preaching Seminar Organised annually in conjunction with the KVBC Bible Conference, this is an ideal introduction to expository preaching for budding preacher-teachers and a refresher for seasoned ones on principles and issues pertaining to expository ministry. Workshop on Biblical Exposition (WBE) A two-day workshop to grow confidence and competency in rightly handling God’s Word.

Commitment About 4 hours of contact time and another 3-5 hours of preparation time weekly. A typical week during the course is as follows: Exposition & Q&A 9.00am Instruction 1 9.40am 10.20am Break 10.30am Instruction 2 / small group exercises 12.00pm Close Assessment Students will be assessed according to three sections: 1. Weekly study questions 2. Small groups work – practice talk, outlines, big idea presentations 3. Reading reports (2,000 words)

Registration Each module costs RM1,900 to run. Through sponsorships, CEP offers subsidised fees of RM650 per module.
