I began with Equip Gospel Ministries in 2012 while I was attending SMACC2 as part of their Tuesday Night Training initiative. I was a young Christian at that time, and was hungry for more of God’s word. At St Mary’s, the pastors always encouraged us to ensure that we’re not just full of zeal for doing ministry, but that we were also prioritising growing in the knowledge of Christ that our zeal would be properly guided. It came to no surprise how Equip’s courses came to play a crucial role in my Christian growth. The 11 years that I’ve spent learning with Equip and all their lecturers have not only given me tools that I now use regularly in my ministry work, but it has also shown me how good theology is never divorced from godly living. In fact, Equip has made such an impression on me that it’s become the natural choice for my Masters in Divinity. I first heard about Equip through friends who had gone through some of the courses. It seemed a good place to start as I searched for a place to begin serious study of the Bible. Since then, Equip has been a place that helped me see God’s big plans, given me skills to search the Bible for myself and challenged me to review and fully own my faith. The Zoom classes have been a platform for open discussions with brothers and sisters in Christ as we wrestle with understanding important doctrines weekly. Equip has been one of the ways that God has used to show me how wonderful, perfect and amazing He is. As the lessons unpack what is in the Bible, one is left in awe of God who is absolutely sovereign over every tiny detail, including you and me. I thank God for the wonderful opportunity that I may attend the theology courses that Equip has to offer. The courses provided a very solid foundation to gaining biblical knowledge and in shaping my theological understanding. I am truly blessed for the opportunity to study God’s word at Equip Gospel Ministries. As I seek to understand the Bible better through the courses I have taken, I find the lessons adopted by Equip to be very helpful. Along the way, I have learnt to be patient and to persevere as the lessons taught reminded me to be faithful in what we do. It is such a wonderful privilege to study the Bible and I really enjoyed the courses I have taken.

I truly give thanks to our Almighty God as I have been given the opportunity to learn His Word especially through Equip Gospel Ministries. It has been an amazing journey being able to attend classes with the flexibility. I would also like to thank my instructors, my parents, my brothers and sisters in Christ, and my family members for their endless support.

Giving the utmost glory to our Lord Jesus Christ who has led me to Equip and gave me the many nudges to enrol. I want to take this opportunity to honour a teacher. His course was my second Equip course. Haven’t yet gotten over what “exegetical”, “a type of Christ” – when I first heard it, I thought it was “atype”, I felt I enrolled into an advance Promise to Fulfilment class. Sitting in front of the screen listening to him teach the Word – it was as if, I’ve never really ‘read’ the Bible. It was when we went through the Book of Ruth – that I finally could ‘see’ what it really meant by “the whole Bible is about Jesus”. A short book, that I’ve never read much but remembered it being taught as how a marriage would look possibly look like. How mind-blown I was that it was so much more than a love story. His teaching helped me read and see the true love story and how the story foreshadowed the salvation God has for all his people including the Gentiles. Todd Bordow, thank you for imparting your knowledge and with much humility, demonstrate how I could read and study the Word. Till we meet again. I confessed my sin and asked Jesus to be my Lord and Saviour back in my secondary school days. I have always thought that Sunday School materials as well as some books and commentaries would be able to take me through my Christian life... until I was asked to preach!

Presently, I am enjoying being cocooned studying His Word at my pace, under Equip Certificate Course. I am not good at it but I guess I am still learning and thankful for God's providence.

My first encounter with Equip courses was through a friend’s sharing of a post on an upcoming Romans course. After seeing some good reviews about the course, I decided to give it a try. That year was 2021, mid- May. I started of with 2 certificate subjects - Bible Overview and the Gospel of Mark. JIREH KHOO Preliminary Certificate in Theology

Equip courses have been very beneficial in my spiritual growth, especially in times of emotional distress from spiritual weakness. God uses this learning platform to speak to me when I needed it most, restoring my personal fellowship with Him. I still remember Tim Phillips taught about not drifting away from the truth we heard from Hebrews 2 during one of the Doctrine 3 classes. I was very enlightened, not because this is new to me, but because God used Hebrews 2 to speak to me when I was struggling with sin. Equip courses have become my regular ‘spiritual food’ I need for God’s Word. Equip courses also help to discern the Word of God better. It built up a solid foundation for me, rooted in the bible and gave me the tools for faithful interpretation of the Word. With this, I am able to identify teachings that appear to be true, but actually contain falsehood underneath it. Not only that, I am able to explain and teach more clearly, and be more precise in how I articulate my words when expressing my faith to others. Surely, the courses’ emphasis on training students in biblical theology helps us to understand both OT and NT as a unified whole Word of God, so that we can appreciate the bible better. To those who are thinking of studying with Equip, enjoy learning under God’s word! Be impacted!

I joined the Bible Overview in 2019, and what made this experience even more special was the fact that my family decided to study it together. I vividly recall the hustle and bustle of our Saturday evenings as we rushed from our children's Boys’ Brigade activities to attend the 10-week session. We would discuss the weekly lessons over dinner, and any spare moment became an opportunity to share what we had learned. As exams approached, our dining table transformed into a study area, with Han Meng patiently answering our children’s questions, strengthening our faith and deepening our understanding of the Bible. The pandemic in 2020 posed new challenges. However, I am grateful to Equip for adapting to the circumstances by offering online classes. This adjustment allowed me to attend even more courses with ease, deepening my knowledge and strengthening my faith. Inspired by what I've learned, I have encouraged not only my children but also my dad and church friends to embark on their own study journeys. We are now collectively exploring Early Church History, sharing our insights, and deepening our bond in Christ. Lastly, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated lecturers at Equip. Your commitment to faithfully teaching the Word of God has been a guiding light on our spiritual path. May God be glorified through our continued pursuit of knowing Him and deepening our love for Him by loving others.

KATHLEEN TUAN Preliminary Certificate in Theology

Equip’s Certificate in Theology courses has helped me approach my study of the Bible with confidence. In the past, I felt daunted when studying certain Bible passages as some are harder to interpret and I did not know where to begin. I learned that there’s a lot of work that goes into a careful interpretation of a passage but, at least now, I have a framework for doing it. The courses are perfect for lay people like me who want to improve their theological knowledge and skills without getting too technical. The materials, lessons and the way the classes are conducted are beginner-friendly. I specifically enjoyed the bible book studies but also found that the courses on doctrine, apologetics, history and bible interpretation are equally fundamental and helpful. The course titles sound intimidating but, really, the courses are not filled with technical-heavy stuff but real life stuff that we can apply into our daily lives.

By the grace of God, the Certificate of Theology course from Equip Gospel Ministries was introduced to me in 2016 by brother Steven Yong from Faith Methodist Church, Cheras. The study is very interesting, quite intensive, systematic and also challenging. Nevertheless, studying God’s word is a welcome joy for me. It enhances me to be rooted in Christ. Immersing in God’s word is an experiential ALBERT THOO revelation of intimacy with God and also an opportunity to Certificate in increase my faith and trust in Him. Theology It is certainly a memorable seven years of study from 2016 to 2022 to complete the full course of eighteen modules. My enduring effort to study His word comes from Him. He guided and sustained me throughout this entire endeavour. In retrospect, it is the Almighty God who has been equipping me with Bible knowledge. In His sovereign timing, He has now assigned me as a humble vessel to share Bible knowledge with seniors in my present church in 2023. Glory be to God.

Banyak pengenalan akan TUHAN saya dapati hasil pengajaran, perbincangan, dan pembelajaran dalam kelas. Dahulu saya mempunyai banyak ketidak fahaman kerana kurang membaca dan kurang belajar Firman TUHAN. Dengan adanya cikgu-cikgu yang berpengalaman, berpengetahuan dan mempunyai hikmat mengajar, saya dapat belajar dari mereka mengenal TUHAN dan kehendak TUHAN dengan lebih dalam dan jelas lagi. Melalui perbincangan dengan rakan-rakan dalam kelas Equip juga, saya semakin yakin dan tahu bagaimana mengabarkan Injil Keselamatan serta berkongsi iman kepercayaan saya kepada orang-orang disekeliling saya. Saya juga semakin mengerti misi Tuhan Yesus supaya sekiranya mungkin ramai orang dapat berpeluang dan mengenal TUHAN dan Juruselamat kita Tuhan Yesus Kristus serta mendapat keselamatan kekal. Saya berasal dari Sarawak dan sudah menetap di Kuala Lumpur sejak Julai 1993. Saya mulai melayani dalam Kebaktian Bahasa Iban sejak tahun 2008. Tetapi pada masa itu saya belum lagi betul-betul mendalami Firman Tuhan dan agak sukar untuk mentafsir dan berkongsikannya dengan jemaat-jemaat di Ministri Iban. Saya amat bersyukur kepada Tuhan Yesus Kristus kerana dalam tahun 2015 saya diperkenalkan oleh Paderi Ministri Iban kita ketika itu Rev. Iben Arang dan Rev. John Layang kepada Thursday Night Training yang diadakan pada setiap malam Khamis di St. Mary’s Cathedral KL anjuran Equip Gospel Ministries. Matlamat Paderi-paderi saya menggalakan saya untuk mengikuti kursus Sijil Teologi ini adalah untuk membolehkan saya belajar tentang Kerajaan Allah dan meneliti FirmanNya dengan lebih mendalam lagi supaya saya dapat mengetahui dan mengkaji Kebenaran Firman Tuhan melalui landasan yang betul bagi membantu dan melayakkan saya untuk melayani dan mengajar Kelas-kelas Muda-Mudi, Baptisan dan ‘Confirmation”, berkongsi di Persekutuan Wanita, Sel, Doa dan seterusnya memperluaskan pelayanan memberitakan Berita Baik kepada masyarakat yang belum mengenali dan menerima Tuhan Yesus sebagai Juruselamat mereka. Bagi saya pula, secara peribadi ingin saya nyatakan matlamat saya untuk mengikuti Kelas Teologi Equip ini adalah untuk “Mengenali Kristus dan Memperkenalkan-Nya kepada semua orang” (To Know Christ And To Make Him Known) (Mat 28:19) Ingin saya kongsikan pengalaman saya dengan saudarasaudari disini bahawa setelah saya mengikuti Kursus Teologi, kehidupan saya semakin hari semakin diubah oleh Firman Tuhan dan saya merasakan diri saya mengalami hubungan peribadi dan intim dengan Tuhan Yesus dan mengenali-Nya dengan lebih dekat. Saya sedar saya seorang yang berdosa dan saya menyedari dan mengakui

kedatangan Tuhan Yesus ke dunia ini adalah untuk menyelamatkan orang berdosa, “dan di antara mereka akulah yang paling berdosa (1 Tim 1:15). Selepas menghadiri Kelas Equip, saya juga lebih memahami sejarah atau naratif dan rencana-rencana Allah yang terjadi di dalam Alkitab, peristiwa-peristiwa dan watak-watak yang wujud di Perjanjian Lama dan Perjanjian Baru. Saya juga didedahkan dengan metode dan langkah-langkah untuk menghuraikan konteks, membahagi-bahagikan struktur ayat serta mentafsirkan Alkitab dengan betul. Dengan bimbingan daripada tenaga-tenaga pengajar dan rakan-rakan Kelas Equip, saya semakin mengerti apa yang dimaksudkan dengan konsep Alkitabiah, mempercayai, mengakui dan senantiasa berpegang teguh kepada ayat Firman yang menyatakan “Segala tulisan yang diilhamkan Allah memang bermanfaat untuk mengajar, untuk menyatakan kesalahan, untuk memperbaiki kelakuan dan untuk mendidik orang dalam kebenaran. Dengan demikian tiap-tiap manusia kepunyaan Allah diperlengkapi untuk setiap perbuatan baik” (2 Tim 3:16-17). Saya amat bersyukur kepada Tuhan Yesus kerana mempunyai peluang untuk belajar, mengkaji dan menyelidiki seluruh Alkitab secara teperinci melalui Kursus Teologi Equip. Segala Pujian dan Kemuliaan bagi Allah Bapa sekarang dan selama-lamanya. Ucapan syukur kepada Tuhan kerana adanya pelajaran Equip Gospel Ministries dalam Bahasa Malaysia dan juga berterima kasih kepada barisan pengajar di St Mary’s Cathedral KL yang berilmu, telah memudahkan saya secara peribadi memahami pelajaran dengan lebih mudah dan mengukuhkan iman kepada Yesus Kristus. Kelas diadakan secara interaktif dimana kami diberi peluang untuk berbincang topik pelajaran berlandaskan bukti-bukti Alkitab. Bermula dengan pelajaran Tinjauan Alkitab (Bible Overview), ia telah menyemarakkan lagi semangat saya untuk mengikuti kelas-kelas yang akan datang.

Dear graduates, families, friends, and esteemed faculty of Equip Gospel Ministries and KVBC Trust, my name is Frank Nandong. I had the privilege of attending the Bahasa Malaysia Service at St. Mary's Cathedral from 2010 to 2020. However, life took me to Kuching, Sarawak, four years ago. In my decade-long tenure at St. Mary's, my thirst for understanding God's Word led me to actively participate in the Bible Study. Fast forward to the present, I find myself standing here today, having embarked on a transformative journey with Equip Gospel Ministries since 2016, attending classes every Thursday night. As we gather for the 11th Annual Graduation & Thanksgiving Service, it feels like a surreal journey, one that began over 6 years ago when I first embarked on the enriching path of attending Equip classes in Bahasa Malaysia every Thursday night. In these transformative years, I have been privileged to partake in Equip classes that have laid the foundation for my spiritual growth and understanding. These classes, spanning five core subjects including Bible Overview, Old

Testament 1, and Doctrine 1 have been instrumental in shaping my perspective and deepening my connection with my faith. Attending Equip classes has not only been a commitment but a rewarding and flexible journey. The once-a-week schedule allowed me, a working adult, the flexibility to delve into the profound teachings of the Bible at my own pace. It might have taken me two to three months to complete a single subject, but the investment was undeniably worth it, especially for those balancing the demands of work and spiritual growth. I am compelled to recommend Equip Certificate courses to all seekers of knowledge and spiritual enrichment. The accessibility and flexibility it offers make it a beacon for individuals like myself, seeking to navigate the complexities of modern life while staying deeply connected to the teachings of the Bible. As we stand on the precipice of this graduation milestone, it is essential to express heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated educators. To Rev. Tim, Rev. Andrew Cheah, Rev. Iben, and Rev. John Layang – your commitment to nurturing our spiritual growth has been a guiding light on this journey.
