LAS VEGAS - A 25-year-old scientist representing the District of Columbia was crowned winner of the Miss USA pageant on Sunday, the second consecutive year that the contestant from the nation’s capital won the annual competition. Kara McCullough, who holds a degree in chemistry and works at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, triumphed over 50 other contestants, including first runner-up Chhavi Verg, representing New Jersey, to claim victory in the contest which was held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. For her question as one of three finalists, McCullough was asked about healthcare rights, and replied that affordable healthcare was a privilege for people who held jobs. The response drew some stinging criticism on social media platforms such as Twitter, but also had its defenders. “Twitter is like a war zone,”

posted one user, referring to opposing reactions to the winner’s remarks. McCullough also took hits for saying she does not call herself a feminist, preferring “equalism,” before adding “Women, we are just as equal as men, especially in the workplace.” The pageant’s other finalist, Meridith Gould, represented Minnesota. DENPASAR - Sanglah Hospital is taking precautions against malware virus that has attacked two hospital network systems in Indonesia. “We are still making anticipation to prevent it,” said Nining Setyawati, Director of General Affairs and Operations of Sanglah Hospital, on Sunday (May 14). TABANAN - The development of tourist accommodation is currently focused on Badung. Investors are still eyeing Badung as a strategic location in terms of investment for tourism development, in this case the tourist accommodation like hotel. Construction of hotels more focused on Badung must certainly be reviewed again because many negative things can occur due to population density, environmental damage and the limited source of water. Deputy Regent of Tabanan, Komang Gede Sanjaya, argued on Friday (May 12) that in terms of tourism development there should be equality in Bali. The equity certainly raises many positive things where one of them is economic equity. “This equity can also suppress the number of congestion occurred all this time,” he said. Tabanan itself has the potential in terms of building tourist accom-

modation like hotel because it has tourist destinations having been well known to domestic and international travelers. Though having the potential, added Sanjaya, the government will further focus on the development of accommodation by more optimizing the role of society and the importance of environment such as tourism village concept, eco-tourism and environment-based tourism. Admittedly, investors are still competing to invest in Badung in terms of accommodation development. Nevertheless, Sanjaya continued that Tabanan will not insist on attracting investors to Tabanan to build tourist accommodation. According to him, the district government prioritized investors that focus on the development of tourism villages and apply environmental tourism. “In essence, Tabanan is more focused on tourism featuring natural charms,” he concluded. NASA delays debut launch of $23 billion moon rocket and capsule

CAPE CANAVERAL - NASA has delayed the first launch of its heavy-payload rocket until 2019 and decided against an idea floated by the White House to put astronauts aboard the capsule that is set to fly around the moon, the U.S. space agency said on Friday. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration had hoped to launch the Space Launch System, or SLS, rocket in November 2018. The rocket will send the deep-space Orion capsule on a high lunar orbit. The launch is part of NASA’s long-term program to use the rocket to get astronauts and equipment to Mars. In February, at the behest of President Donald Trump’s administration, NASA began to weigh the implications of adding a two-person crew for the trial flight. The conclusion of the study was to wait until a second flight before adding a crew, NASA Acting Administrator Robert Lightfoot said. The research “really reaffirmed that the baseline plan we have in place was the best way for us to go,” he told reporters on a conference call. Adding systems to support a crew would have cost NASA $600 million to $900 million more and would likely have delayed the flight to 2020, he said. Even without a crew, the SLS will not be ready to blast off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida un-

til 2019, Lightfoot said, adding that the agency would have a more specific timeframe in about a month. The delay would push back the rocket’s second flight beyond 2021, said NASA Associate Administrator William Gerstenmaier. The delays are largely due to technical issues encountered during the development of SLS and Orion, as well as tornado damage to the rocket’s manufacturing plant in New Orleans. By the end of the next fiscal year on September 30, 2018, NASA will have spent $23 billion on the rocket, capsule, launch site and support systems, according to an audit by NASA’s Office of Inspector General. That excludes $9 billion spent on the mothballed Constellation lunar exploration program, which included initial development of the Orion and a second heavy-lift rocket. Initially, the SLS rocket, which uses engines left over from the space shuttle program and shuttlederived solid rocket boosters, will have the capacity to put about 77 tons (70 metric tons) into an orbit about 100 miles (160 km) above Earth. Later versions are expected to carry nearly twice that load. “We’re really building a system,” Gerstenmaier said. “It is much, much more than one flight.” (rtr)

Liquid waste left to flow for two years

MANGUPURA - For almost two years, the waste flowing from drainage channels on Jalan Gelora Samudera in Kuta has not been dealt with. Although the Badung Environment and Sanitation Agency has investigated the matter first hand several times, the problem remains unresolved. As seen on Sunday (May 14), the thick white liquid waste was still flowing from the sewer, although it only flows intermittently. Chairman of LPM Kuta, Gusti Agung Made Agung, is aware of the problem. He has received reports from the public and from travellers enquiring about the problem. If the problem is not dealt with, there is fear that Kuta will become known as an area that does not care about the environment. In addition to polluting the local river, this waste also directly damages the surrounding environment. Relevant agencies have therefore been asked to fully resolve

the problem as soon as possible. “We hope the entire drain can be checked so that it can be made clear where the source of the problem is. Once the drain is closed, we that a written statement will be made”, he urged. Agung affirmed that sanitation and environmental issues are the main focuses of the LPM Kuta at this time. Therefore related agencies are being asked to work together to support this program. During the period of working with LPM Kuta, the issue of waste will also be getting attention with frequent checking and maintaining the environment. This is especially important as Kuta is one of Bali’S tourist destination that surely needs to be well preserved. “Hopefully, the agency will immediate start collecting data. Whether the agency comes down to the field, we will certainly be present during the cooperative work period” he concluded. (kmb23)

U.S. spacewalkers overcome glitch on 200th station outing

CAPE CANAVERAL - Two U.S. astronauts overcame an early equipment glitch to complete an abbreviated spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Friday, accomplishing all the major tasks initially planned for a longer excursion in four hours, NASA said. Station commander Peggy Whitson and rookie flier Jack Fischer began what was expected to be a 6-1/2-hour spacewalk more than an hour late, after a cable supplying power and cooling water to Fischer’s spacesuit developed a leak. The spacewalk was the 200th outing in support of station assembly and maintenance since construction of the $100 billion laboratory, which flies about 250 miles (400 km) above Earth, began in 1998. Fischer ended up sharing Whitson’s spacesuit servicing system, which caused both to burn through their spacesuits’ battery power faster than usual. That prompted the U.S. space agency to shorten the outing and assign the astronauts just one task. The pair breezed through their first priority, replacing a faulty, 200-pound (90 kg) electronics box that routes commands and data to experiments. With time to spare, they then tackled chores slated for the original spacewalk, including installing a cable to troubleshoot a cooling system problem with the station’s $2 billion dark matter detector, mission commentator Rob Navias said. They also attached a debris shield onto an exposed docking port that is being prepared for commercial space taxis under development by Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX, and Boeing Co. It was Fischer’s first spacewalk, and the ninth for Whitson, who last month broke the record for cumulative time in orbit by a U.S. astronaut. “All of the major work has been accomplished,” Navias said. “It’s been an highly successful spacewalk in spite of a somewhat uncertain beginning.” (rtr)

NEGARA - The Ministry of Transportation will officially announce the increase in the the tarif for the ferry crossings on 14 routes throughout the archipelago at 00:00 on Monday (May 15).

Based on information from the past week, there will be an increase of 12.43 percent in the tariffs for passengers boarding ferries, including the KetapangGilimanuk crossing. There will also be a 11.53 percent increase for vehicles. These announcements were made during a recent meeting Ketapang Harbor between the river, lake and crossing transportation services (ASDP), Indonesia Ferry (Persero) and the Directorate of ASDP at the Ministry of Transportation and the Association of river, lake and crossing transportation services (GAPASDAP) of Banyuwangi. The increas from IDR 6,000 to IDR 6,500 for passengers crossing between Ketapang- Gilimanuk is based on the Decision of the Board of Directors of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) following Minister of Transportation Decree No.30/2017 on Tariff of Crossing Transportation. There will also be an increase in the tariff for children from IDR 4,000 to IDR 4,500 , as well as an 11.53 percent increase for vehicles: class I (push bike) will increase from IDR 7,000 to IDR 7,500 while the tariff for class II (motorcycle under 500 cc) will go up from IDR 22,00 to IDR 24,000. The tariff for class III (motorcycles over 500 cc) will go up from IDR 34,000 to IDR 37,000. Then, class IV vehicles (length up to 5 meters) consisting of class IV A chiefly for passenger vehicle will have their tariffs increased from IDR 138,000 to IDR 159,000, while class IV B freight vehicles will have their tariffs increase from IDR 124,000 to IDR 141,000.

For class V (length of more than 5 meters to 7 meters) consisting of class V A for passenger vehicle the increase will go from IDR 262,000 to IDR 302,000, while class V B freight vehicles will see an increase from IDR 210,000 to IDR 242,000. Vehicles with a length of more than 7 meters to 10 meters belonging to class VI consisting of class VI A for passenger vehicle will see an increase from IDR 436,000 to IDR 495,000 and class VI B freight vehicles will see their tariff go from IDR 247,000 to IDR 395,000. For class VII vehicles (10 - 12 meters long) the increased will be from IDR 458,000 to IDR 505,000, class VIII (length of more than 12 - 16 meters) from IDR 690,000 to IDR 732,000 and finally, for class IX vehicles(length of more than 16 meters) the increase will go from 1,000,000 to IDR 1,045,000. General Manager of PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) of Ketapang-Gilimanuk Harbor Branch, Elvi Yosa, said that the decision to adjust the tariffs is also based on the Decree of the Board of Directors of PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) No. KD.88./OP.404/ ASDP 2017 dated May 2, 2017. Yosa explained that various steps ave been taken to inform the public about the adjustments, including printing banners, handing brochures and posting announcement before the new tariffs took effect on Monday (May 15). The average tariff increase will be about 10.97 for vehicles and an average of 10. 42 for passengers. The smallest increase in of 7.14 percent while the highest is 15. 27 percent. The tariff increase she said took effect on May 15, 2017 at 00:00 and there has been coordination between all relevant stakeholders such as shipping companies and police authorities has also been ongoing. After snorkeling at Lembongan, a Chinese traveler dies SEMARAPURA - A Chinese traveler on behalf of Li Guang Sheng, 68, died after a snorkeling activity on the Song Lambung Beach, Lembongan village, Nusa Penida, on Sunday (May 14). It is not clear what caused this elderly traveler to die. There is an allegation if the victim (Li Guang Sheng—Ed) died of heart disease. Before the incident, the victim had fallen and vomited when rushed to Jungutbatu community health center. Pursuant to field information, before the death, the victim had time to snorkel with four members of his family on the Song Lambung Beach around 09:00. At that time, they were snorkeling under guidance of Gede Sutawan around the local mangrove. After snorkeling around 11:30, the victim then returned to his villa where he was staying with family at Darzan Villa. The victim walked from Song Lambung Beach to his villa. BEIJING - Chinese local authorities from traffic police to industry regulators were hobbled on Monday by a massive global ransomware attack, but the spread of the WannaCry worm in the country appeared less aggressive than initially feared. Dozens of local Chinese authorities said they had suspended some of their services due to the attack that has disrupted operations at car factories, hospitals, shops and schools around the world. However, officials and security firms said the spread was starting to slow in the country, which has the world’s largest number of Internet users. “The growth rate of infected institutions on Monday has slowed significantly compared to the previous two days,” said Chinese Internet security company Qihoo 360. “Previous concerns of a widescale infection of domestic institutions did not eventuate.” Qihoo has previously said the attack had infected close to 30,000

An official from Cybersecurity Administration China (CAC) told local media on Monday that while the ransomware was still spreading and had affected industry and government computer systems, the spread was slowing. MANILA - A Congressional panel of Philippine lawmakers on Monday found an impeachment complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte lacked substance and should go no further, a widely expected outcome underlining the maverick leader’s steadfast legislative support. Committee members unanimously voted to shoot down the complaint by Gary Alejano, a member of a minority block, and will recommend its dismissal by the 292-seat Congress, where Duterte enjoys a super-majority. Alejano accused Duterte of high crimes and betrayal of public trust by concealing assets, supporting summary executions of thousands of Filipinos in his war on drugs, and having a “defeatist” approach towards Beijing’s assertiveness in the South China Sea. The panel’s decision to declare the complaint insufficient in substance came a few hours into proceedings that focused heavily on Alejano’s admission that he had not personally witnessed the drugs-related killings that he was accusing Duterte of sponsoring. Alejano was furious that the panel was unwilling to hear what he said was extensive evidence from witnesses and survivors of drugs-related violence that would prove “the government is killing them”. UK employers plan smallest pay rises since 2013 - survey

LONDON - British employers plan to increase pay at the weakest rate since 2013, a survey showed on Monday, offering poor prospects for British households already strained by higher inflation since last year’s Brexit vote. Gerwyn Davies, labour market adviser at the CIPD, said weak pay partly reflected British businesses’ long-standing difficulties at raising productivity, and said he expected living standards would fall for many employees this year. “This could create higher levels of economic insecurity and could have serious implications for consumer spending, which has helped to support economic growth in recent months,” . Other indicators of future wage growth, like the monthly REC survey and the Bank of England’s regional agents’ report, have pointed to a dearth of

upward pressure on pay. The government capped annual basic pay rises for most public-sector workers at 1 percent in 2013, after a three-year pay freeze. The CIPD said pay expectations for the private sector held steady at 2.0 percent, but weakened in the voluntary sector and were stuck at 1.0 percent in the public sector. Still, the survey suggested employment will continue to increase in the second quarter, albeit at a slower rate than at the start of this year. Official monthly labour market data are due on Wednesday. GM’s Maven car-sharing service launches in New York

DETROIT — Want to borrow a Cadillac Escalade for your weekend in the Hamptons? Now you can. General Motors Co. launched its Maven car-sharing service in New York on Monday. The service lets members rent a variety of GM vehicles for whatever they need, from a 30-minute errand to a 28day road trip. Maven will park 80 vehicles around Manhattan. Members — who can join Maven for free — can choose an SUVs like the Escalade or the Chevrolet Equinox or smaller cars like the Chevrolet Cruze. Using Maven’s smartphone app, members can see where vehicles are parked, reserve a time and unlock and start the car when they arrive. Prices vary by vehicle, but it will cost about $100 to use a Cruze for a full day. Maven takes care of the insurance and leaves a gas card in the car to pay for fill-ups. For now, Maven members in New York can’t use the cars for gigs like Uber driving or Grubhub food deliveries, since that would require different insurance, said Julia Steyn, GM’s vice president of urban mobility and Maven. But that

capability will likely come in the future. Maven recently launched a separate service called Maven Gig in San Diego that lets drivers rent cars for side jobs. It also has rental agreements in a handful of cities for Lyft and Uber drivers. GM isn’t the only automaker experimenting with mobility services. Daimler AG, the parent of Mercedes-Benz, founded car2go in 2008. It’s now operating in 27 cities in North America, Europe and China. Loyalist troops began advancing towards Bouake, the epicentre of the revolt, on Sunday and sporadic gunfire was heard overnight there as well as at military camps in Abidjan. Ivory Coast has been touted as a post-war success story after emerging from a 2002-2011 political crisis as one of the world’s fastest growing economies. But society remains deeply divided and a wave of mutinies that began earlier this year has exposed the lack of unity in a military assembled from former rebel and loyalist combatants. The 8,400 mutineers, most of them former rebels who said they were promised bonuses for fighting to bring President Alassane Ouattara to power, received 5 million CFA francs ($8,400) each to end the January uprising. But the government has struggled to pay remaining bonuses of 7 million CFA francs. A spokesman for the group said on Thursday they would drop demands for the remaining money, an announcement rejected by many of the soldiers who sparked the current revolt. An Abidjan resident said mutinying soldiers came out of the West African nation’s largest military camp and erected barricades early on Monday, blocking traffic along one of the main thoroughfares in the east of the city. Several schools near the camp did not open and the Abidjanbased African Development Bank, which employs several thousand people - many of them international staff - told its employees to stay home. Even in faraway US, Indonesian seafood enforcer wins acclaim

WASHINGTON — A high school dropout turned seafood entrepreneur is leading Indonesia’s crackdown on illegal fishing, winning plaudits from conservationists and awards as far away as Washington despite her explosive methods. A favorite tactic is seizing foreign fishing vessels and then blowing up the empty boats into smithereens to send a message to her country’s neighbors. Susi Pudjiastuti, honored this week in Washington for her ecological work, has led the charge in destroying hundreds of fishing vessels in the past two years as the Indonesian government’s minister for maritime affairs and fisheries. Her efforts haven’t eliminated a problem that has plagued the archipelago nation for decades, she said, but they have boosted fish stocks and curbed smuggling. Catches of anchovies, king prawns and yellow fin tuna are up, helping local fishermen and reducing food prices, Pudjiastuti said. “What we actually earn also is respect,” Pudjiastuti said in the American capital, where she joined other recipients of the annual Peter Benchley Ocean Awards — named for the author of “Jaws.” She was cited for her efforts in protecting Indonesia’s marine ecosystem, and tackling poachers and organized crime. “They cannot just do anything anymore,” Pudjiastuti added. Whereas 10,000 foreign vessels used to fish in Indonesian waters “like in their own country,” she said the new reality was clear: “Not anymore.” For China and others in the region, sensitive politics also are at play. Indonesia’s uncompromising approach has irked neighbors whose boats have been caught up in the dragnet for operating in seas plagued by territorial disputes. The campaign may partly reflect Indonesia’s desire to show it is in control of its vast territory of 17,000 islands. Pudjiastuti, 52, has won popularity at home as the campaign’s leader, defying initial skepticism when she was tapped as minister in 2014. She had no political experience and hadn’t even graduated high school. But she spent three decades as a seafood entrepreneur and knew the business. She also had run her own charter airline, Susi Air, to distribute and export produce. On taking office, she quickly declared a fishing moratorium for foreign vessels that had often operated under Indonesian flags. “The state’s sovereignty has to be upheld,” she declared. And to ram the point home, Indonesian authorities have sunk more than 300 foreign fishing vessels. In the most recent mass-destruction in early April, Indonesian authorities destroyed

81 empty ships in a single weekend. Most were from Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. In March 2016, a large Nigerian-flagged vessel was caught poaching toothfish and, after being evacuated, blown up with great fanfare. Pudjiastuti posed on the beach afterward with navy officials, their fists raised in the air with the smoking boat behind them. “The visuals and press that comes from her tough practices on blowing these ships up has really helped educate the world,” said Sally Yozell, director of the environmental security program at Washington’s Stimson Center think tank, speaking of the global scourge of overfishing. She recognized, however, the regional frictions of the campaign, which included several incidents last year of Indonesia firing warning shots and seizing Chinese fishing vessels in waters off its Natuna islands. Pudjiastuti also acknowledged some tensions. She said she briefed ambassadors of neighboring countries, including China, before the crackdown and sought support. “Poaching is not a part of good bilateral relations,” she said Friday at the Stimson Center. Indonesian authorities have another 100

seized fishing vessels waiting to be destroying and they are impounding another dozen or so each week, she said. Few are Chinese fishing vessels, which are bigger, faster and often accompanied by the nation’s coast guard, making it harder to police their activities, she added. The United States and Australia are providing support to Indonesia, including satellite technology to help surveillance of waters. Indonesia hopes for Japanese technical help, too. Indonesia isn’t among the half-dozen governments contesting control of reefs and islands in the South China Sea, an emerging Asian flashpoint. But it has reason to be wary of China’s claims. The so-called nine-dash line that Beijing uses to demarcate its expansive territorial claims extends into Indonesia’s internationally-recognized exclusive economic zone, or EEZ, that extends 200 nautical miles off its coast. Pudjiastuti said she is less concerned over the subtleties over Indonesia’s stance than her diplomat colleagues. “For me it’s more clear. Once it’s in my EEZ, that’s my fish,” she said. Her moratorium on foreign fishing vessels ended up playing a pivotal role in The Associated Press’ “Seafood from Slaves”

investigation, which in 2015 helped to free more than 2,000 foreign fishermen enslaved in Indonesia. The AP found their seafood was bound for consumers in the U.S. and other countries, tainting the supply chains of major companies and pet food brands including Wal-Mart, Sysco and Kroger, Fancy Feast and Iams. The moratorium grounded fishing boats that normally would have been almost constantly at sea, giving AP reporters the opportunity to first speak to enslaved fishermen on the remote Indonesian island of Benjina. Once the story was published, Pudjiastuti quickly dispatched a task force to Benjina, rescuing hundreds of abused workers mostly from Myanmar and Cambodia. In a moderate Muslim-majority country, where religious conservatives have growing political clout, Pudjiastuti has defied conventional gender roles. She’s divorced, smokes and has a tattoo. She even inspired a character in one of Japan’s most reputed manga comic books, “Golgo 13.” In one strip, a woman in a beret and sunglasses had an unmistakable resemblance to Pudjiastuti. Nadal overpowers Thiem to win fifth Madrid title

MADRID - Rafael Nadal consolidated his flying start to the clay-court season by taking a record-extending fifth Madrid Open title on Sunday, battling past a determined Dominic Thiem to win 7-6(10-8) 6-4. The Spaniard, who snapped a sevenmatch losing streak against Novak Djokovic to win their semi-final on Saturday, was given a much sterner test by Thiem than in last month’s final of the Barcelona Open. NASCAR driver Almirola fractures back vertebra in crash

KANSAS - NASCAR Cup Series driver Aric Almirola was released from hospital on Sunday after fracturing a vertebra in a fiery crash Saturday night at Kansas Speedway. The Richard Petty Motorsports driver was airlifted to hospital where he remained overnight for observation. Almirola was conscious and alert

after the three-car wreck on lap 200 of the Go Bowling 400 race while being put on a backboard after the roof was cut out of his No. 43 Ford. Joey Logano and Danica Patrick also were involved in the crash that started when Logano experienced a brake problem that sent him into Patrick’s car. Patrick’s car caught fire and was hit by Almirola’s car.

Logano and Patrick climbed from their cars under their own power and were treated and released from the track’s infield care center. Almirola, though, was cut from his car and placed on a stretcher to be airlifted to the hospital. Richard Petty Motorsports said in a statement Sunday morning that Almirola suffered a compression

fracture to his T5 vertebra -- located in the middle of the back. He is scheduled to fly to his home in North Carolina on Sunday and his driving status is undetermined. “Almirola is mobile and will follow-up with his doctors in Charlotte,” the team statement said. The 33-year-old Almirola, in his sixth full season in the series driving

for Richard Petty Motorsports, is 23rd in the NASCAR Cup standings, 62 points outside the current cutoff for the 16-driver NASCAR playoffs with 17 races left in the regular season. Monaco routs Lille 4-0 to effectively seal French title

PARIS — Monaco celebrated a century of league goals with the win that all but sealed the French title, beating Lille 4-0 on Sunday to leave Paris Saint-Germain needing a spectacular Monaco collapse in order to defend its title. Monaco leads by three points with a goal difference that is +17 better than that of PSG, and also has a game in hand. PSG needs to win its last match and hope Monaco loses its remaining two games by huge margins.

Top scorer Radamel Falcao scored twice and attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva added one to make it 101 league goals and 153 in all competitions for Monaco. Kuyt has last laugh as Feyenoord take title

ROTTERDAM - Dirk Kuyt remembers being ridiculed when he returned to an ordinary Feyenoord side two years ago and said they could win the Dutch title. But the veteran forward, who will turn 37 in July, had the last laugh on Sunday when he scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 home win over Heracles Almelo that clinched the championship on the last day of the season. In a career full of highlights, Kuyt said this title topped the lot. “I knew when I came back two years ago that we could win the championship. And everyone laughed at me when I said so,” Kuyt told reporters as Feyenoord celebrated their first title success since 1999. “I’ve played in a Champions League final and in a World Cup final and at very popular clubs. But this is the best moment of my career,” added Kuyt, who started out at Feyenoord before signing for Liverpool in 2006 and also played at Fenerbahce. Malaysia appoint Vingada as new head coach

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia have appointed Nelo Vingada as head coach of their national side, the football association announced on Monday, entrusting the Portuguese with the task of reviving the fortunes of the team languishing at 158th in the FIFA rankings. The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) did not reveal details of the 64-year-old’s contract but Vingada’s immediate task will be to oversee the 2019 Asian Cup qualification campaign. Malaysia have appealed against playing their June 8 qualifier against North Korea in Pyongyang over security concerns, so Vingada’s first match in charge may be on Malaysian soil against Lebanon on June 13. “I wanted the coach to also be a teacher,” FAM president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said in a statement announcing the appointment of the coach nicknamed ‘The Professor’. Vingada replaces Ong Kim Swee, who has been put
