Colorado DJ’s suit against Taylor Swift dismissed in groping trial DENVER - Pop star Taylor Swift on Friday won an important ruling in the trial stemming from her allegation that she was groped by a Colorado disc jockey, with the judge dismissing the DJ’s rival claim accusing the singer of wrongfully getting him fired. The ruling by U.S. District Judge William Martinez left intact Swift’s assault and battery countersuit against David Mueller, who asserts he was falsely accused by the recording star and ousted from his $150,000-a-year job at radio station KYGO-FM under pressure from her. The Grammy-winning artist known for such hits as “Fearless” and “I Knew Your Were Trouble” reacted to the decision with tears of joy, embracing members of her legal team and family members with bear hugs in the courtroom. Mueller sat alone at the plaintiff’s table, appearing somber as he sipped a glass of water. Friday’s decision capped the fifth day of a trial highlighted by vivid testimony from Swift charging that Mueller clutched her bare buttocks during a pre-concert fan reception in 2013 against Mueller’s assertion under oath that he did no such thing. David Swift, a lawyer for Chaquico, in an email said he was pleased his client can pursue his

“core” claim. “It is important to Mr. Chaquico to protect the legacy of Jefferson Starship by preventing unauthorized bands, like defendants in the case, from using the iconic name,” he said. A lawyer for the defendants did not immediately respond to requests for comment. According to court papers, members of Jefferson Starship agreed to retire the name in 1985 after Kantner left. Eight years later, Chaquico allowed Kantner, “and only Kantner,” to use the name in connection with live performances and merchandise,

their use of the name was “related to Kantner’s use,” but this ended after his death. In dismissing the trademark claim, the judge said Chaquico failed to show how the public, and especially fans “more likely to be familiar with the history of Jefferson Starship and its multiple iterations,” would be confused about his involvement. The band was an outgrowth of Jefferson Airplane, which was founded in the 1960s and is remembered for now-classic songs such as “Somebody to Love” and “White Rabbit,” which featured singer Grace Slick. Indian state suspends hospital chief after deaths of 60 children NEW DELHI - The head of an Indian hospital where dozens of children died in recent days has been suspended, as officials traded blame over cash shortfalls that led to supplies of medical oxygen being cut. The government of Uttar Pradesh state, run by India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), suspended the head of the state-run BRD Medical College, Rajeev Misra, late on Saturday and ordered an investigation. Indian media have said the deaths of 60 children, 34 infants among them, were caused in part by oxygen shortages after a private supplier cut the supply over unpaid bills. Hospital officials deny lack of oxygen caused the deaths, saying alternative supplies were found, and blamed many of the deaths instead on encephalitis and unspecified issues related to delivery of the infants. On Sunday, J.P. Nadda, health minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet, visited the hospital in the town of Gorakhpur, 800 km (507 miles) east

of New Delhi, accompanied by the state’s chief minister, Yogi Adityanath. After the visit, the chief minister urged patience until the investigation was complete. “We will know - whether it was because of an oxygen shortage or due to a lack of proper treatment,” Adityanath told reporters. “Those found guilty will not be spared.” Nadda said a team of doctors from New Delhi was working with the local authorities and the federal government was ready to send more assistance. He said Modi was also monitoring the developments.

The issue of the unpaid bills for oxygen supply has become a flashpoint in relations between the hospital and the state government, after the suspended hospital chief on Saturday accused state officials of not answering his requests for money. “I wrote at least three letters,” Misra told television reporters on Saturday, adding that he had flagged the issue in video conference discussions. Reuters was unable to immediately contact Misra for comment. Adityanath, who had visited the hospital on Aug. 9, said no issue of unpaid bills was brought

to his attention and all requests for funds were met promptly.

Bali police deny issuing sketch of alleged mobile brigade assaulter

DENPASAR - So far, the investigation into the case of the assault and seizure of SS1-V1 firearm experienced by member of the mobile brigade, Ida Bagus Suda Suwarna, at Hotel Ayana Resort, Jimbaran, South Kuta, has yielded not clues. The investigators are still focusing on looking into what really happened. Bali Police have denied having issued a sketch of the alleged assaulter.“We never issued any sketch of the perpetrator. Such a sketch will be issued after the perpetrator has been put on the wanted list. Once again, we reiterate that we have not issued any sketch of the perpetrator”, said the Spokesman of Bali Police, Hengky Widjaja, accompanied by Director of General Criminal Investigation Unit, Sang Made Mahendrajaya, on Friday (Aug. 11). Hengky added that based on the initial report of incident, it is alleged to be a crime. The victim lost his firearm and until now it is under investigation.Hengky also denied that the alleged perpetrator is a foreign national. “It’s too early for us to conclude. Temporarily, the initial allegation of the case is theft with violence. Police are still focusing on the victim’s testimony because it remains inconsistent. “Whatever the victim says will be cross-checked with other evidence including with the CCTV footage, witness’ testimony and so forth. It has not led to the perpetrator nor whether it really happened”, he affirmed. He confirmed that his institution is still looking into to the report ot ascertain whether it is true or not and whether there is a motive. The Bali Police therefor remain hesitant

to reveal any information and continue to try get to the facts of the incident. “We are not sure, so it must be checked first. The vicitims’ bruises may have been due to falling down or other things” he said. The victim himself has not given accurate information because he is inconsistent so there is no conclusion. The victim is the one who knows the most, so please be patient”, said Mahendrajaya.When asked it there was any indication that the victim was poisoned, Mahendrajaya said: “No. The result of the examination of the victim’s vomit the by forensic laboratory indicates that there was no poison involved. Besides, the victim did not vomit blood, just ordinary vomit. Examination of the victim indicated that his head had not been harmed. The victims’ testimony is inconsistent, so no conclusions can be made. The victim will be examined by a psychologist regarding his inconsistent testimony”, he added. Similarly, he did not confirm that the Chief of South Kuta Police, Wayan Latra, has spread an appeal related to the case. “There has been no appeal issued by police, and I do not know who has spread images of the sketch”, he said. Non-cash transactions reach 14 percent in toll road

ZURICH - While Berlin’s Love Parade no longer exists, the spirit of that infamous, raucous, big-hearted street gathering lives on in one of the most surprising places: middleof-the-road Zurich. While Love Parade lacked the logistics expertise, Street Parade Zurich has perfected the science and the art of throwing a day-long musical parZurich ade with 30 love mobiles, 600 DJs or acts, and 7 stages for one million people. Inspired by a television report on the Berlin Love Parade, Zurich mathematics student Marek Krynski asked the city police authorities for the authorization to organize a “demonstration in support of love, peace, freedom, generosity and tolerance” in June, 1992. Marek then went off to Berlin to learn the ropes at the Love Parade and was literally overwhelmed. Back in Zurich and

full of enthusiasm, he managed to get the official go-ahead for the demonstration without too much trouble. The stage was now set for the first Zurich Street Parade. But, before we dive deeper into the Street Parade, let’s give a posthumous shout-out to the Love Parade which doesn’t live on our Fest300 list, although it should be in our Hall of Fame. The Love Parade as a popular event originated in 1989 in Berlin right around the time of the unification of East and West. It grew into the largest moving music festival in the world and led to similar Love Parade-like events happening in more than a dozen large cities around the world. One famous picture from the parade depicts people sitting and dancing on street lamps, trees, commercial signs and telephone booths, which gave the event the

tagline, “the greatest amateur circus on earth.” Unfortunately, the Love Parade was plagued by challenges with the local governmental authorities, a lack of funding, and some weak logistics planning. On July 24, 2010, a crowd rush at the Love Parade caused the death of 21 people, with at least 500 others injured. As a consequence of this, the organizers of the festival announced that no further Love Parades would be held and that the festival was permanently cancelled. Enter: Street Parade

The Street Parade continued the Love Parade’s demonstration of freedom, generosity and tolerance. The world and the music have changed considerably since the first Street Parade in 1992. All the same, electronic music is more current

than ever before and the Street Parade has taken over the mantel as arguably the most highly regarded street music festival in the world. Despite the tough demands it has to meet, the non-profit-making Street Parade Association has succeeded in retaining the basic concept – the “soul” – of the event and of the former techno movement. It is probably partly because of this that international star DJs still appear at the Street Parade free of charge. A Beautiful Location

Lake Zurich provides the stunning backdrop for this street festival that started with just 1,000 participants and now has added a comma and three zeroes. Because the route is scenic on the lakeside, it does not interfere with local businesses (one of the big challenges with the Love Pa-

rade) and maybe because it’s in such a relaxed and lovely setting, there’s less litter or ugliness than you’d typically see at an event this size. This event couldn’t have grown into the size it is without attracting a very international crowd. Matthias Roeingh (aka Dr. Motte, who helped organize the original Love Parade) said, “Music knows no boundaries or nationalities,” and Street Parade is a great example of this principle as, in the course of an hour, you might meet people from a dozen different countries and, in some cases, find middle-aged parents enjoying the festivities along with their young adult children. Electronic music may be a way of expressing a political and lifestyle philosophy, but it’s also a great way of connecting with people you care about. (IBP/net)

DENPASAR — Non-cash transactions in toll roads throughout Indonesia just reach 23 percent, while in Bali only reaches 14 percent. After assigned to help overcome the congestion for the sake of tourism and international events, PT Jasamarga Bali Toll is now also asked to participate in succeeding the national non-cash movement program (GNTT) on the highway. So, a few months ago Bank Indonesia signed a MoU with the ministry of public works for a non-cash use agreement across toll road in October. President Director of PT Jasamarga Bali Toll, Akhmad Tito Karim, said that since the construction of the Bali Mandara Toll four 4 years ago, it was also built a noncash toll booths. However, until now the use of non-cash transaction has just reached 14 percent of the 52,000 vehicle volumes crossing the toll road per day. Of the 52,000, 54 percent are cars, 45 percent (motorcycles), and 1 percent (bus). However, as of 1 October, 100 percent of the transactions will use non-cash. The use of non-cash transactions on toll roads is believed to be more time-efficient. Initially, to pay tolls, the toll road users will take 15-20 seconds. However, with electronic money transactions like Brizzi, emoney, e-toll, tap cash, et cetera, the transactions on the toll booth only takes 2 seconds. “If using cash transaction, it must take queue because the transaction is more than 8 seconds,” he said. For that purpose, his management has prepared a prime payment machine and one duty officer for three toll booths. Jasamarga Bali

Toll has 20 booths on Bali Mandara Toll Road, where 11 of which have been automatic toll booths. Next October, all the toll booths will be automatic. Each electronic money issuer has also started selling cards in toll areas. The issuer bank also provides a place for topping up balances. “When making a payment with e-money, the rider can also see the remaining balance on the printed receipt,” he added. He predicted that non-cash payment on the toll road will reduce its income by 5 percent from toll road users. “There has been no conclusion yet how to be able to invite people to use non-cash,” he said. Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia (BI) for Bali Representative Office, Azka Subhan, said that in 2011 the value of electronic money transactions reached more than IDR 981 trillion. Then, it surged sharply in 2016 to IDR 7.063 trillion. At the beginning of the first quarter of this year, it has reached IDR 2.858 trillion. Head of BRI for Bali, NTB and NTT Regional Office, Dedi Sunardi, in a separate location conveyed the readiness of BRI in succeeding the national non-cash movement program in toll road. In the meantime, the owner of palm-leaf manuscript, Jro Mangku Nyoman Purnayasa, said the manuscripts are legacies of his ancestors. The manuscripts are estimated to have been more than a hundred years old. “We have inherited from the previous ancestors. We receive and store them in the merajan (family temple). Indeed we have not had time to open and taken care of them due to our limitations in the manuscript maintenance,” he said. Being not proficient in reading palm-leaf manuscripts, Jro Mangku Purnayasa does not know for sure the contents of his manuscripts. His love is expressed in several books, such as A Brief History of Indonesia and A Brief History of Bali. Tim Hannigan explained that his book entitled A Brief History of Bali tells about the life of Balinese people as well as the influence of Western countries, especially after the arrival of the first Dutch fleet in 1597. In the first history of Bali, writer Willard Hanna captured Bali for centuries as well as Balinese inhabitants struggling to maintain their unique identity amid the onslaught of tourism. However, in Tim Hannigan’s book, he wanted to express his own perspective of Bali, to introduce and promote Bali to foreign tourists. “The aim of this book is not to change the point of view but rather to make the history of Bali more intersin to read, so that people can be more interested and enthusiastic about Bali> said Tim vivaciously.

SYDNEY - In a run-down mall in one of Sydney’s biggest Chinese neighbourhoods in 2015, 29-year-old Jizhang Lu showed up at the top-floor offices of a meat export company carrying a carrier bag stuffed with hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash. According to police documents filed in court and reviewed by Reuters, Lu said he made the trip to the shopfront of CC&B International Pty Ltd eight times over three weeks. Each time a CC&B employee would hand him a receipt showing a different company had bought tens of thousands of kilograms of meat. The cash - as much as A$530,200 ($416,840) at a time - was then deposited at a Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) branch, according to the police statement of facts agreed by Lu. But the apparent purchases were fake, and last year Lu was jailed for two years after pleading guilty to helping launder A$3.2 million of what police allege were proceeds from an unidentified international drug syndicate. The court records reviewed by Reuters did not name Lu’s lawyer. Lu could not immediately be contacted directly because he was in custody. The police case against Lu is now one of several being cited by financial intelligence agency AUSTRAC in its statement of

claim against CBA, the largest civil court action of its kind in Australian corporate history. AUSTRAC has accused CBA of “serious and systemic” breaches of money-laundering and counter-terrorism financing rules, alleging the country’s second biggest mortgage lender failed to detect suspicious transactions nearly 54,000 times. It faces fines potentially amounting to billions of dollars. CBA has said it will fight the AUSTRAC lawsuit, saying it would never deliberately undertake action that enables any form of crime. BEIJING - China’s President Xi Jinping said there needs to be a peaceful resolution to the North Korean nuclear issue, and in a telephone call with U.S. President Donald Trump he urged all sides to avoid words or action that raise tensions. Xi’s comments came hours after Trump warned North Korea that the U.S. military was “locked and loaded” as Pyongyang accused the U.S. leader of driving the Korean peninsula to the brink of nuclear war. The Pentagon said the United States and South Korea would proceed as planned with a joint military exercise in 10 days, an action sure to further antagonise North Korea. China’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Xi told Trump a peaceful resolution to the North Korean nuclear issue was essential, and urged calm. “Concerned parties must exercise restraint and avoid remarks and actions that escalate tensions on the Korean peninsula,” it cited Xi as saying. In their phone call, Trump and Xi “agreed North Korea must stop its provocative and escalatory behavior,” the White House said in a statement, and reiterated their mutual commitment to denuclearize the Korean peninsula. It added the relationship between Trump and Xi was “extremely close” and “will hopefully lead to a peaceful resolution of the North Korea problem.”

He added, “We will see what happens. BUSINESS U.S. producer prices record biggest drop in 11 months WASHINGTON - U.S. producer prices unexpectedly fell in July, recording their biggest drop in nearly a year and pointing to a further moderation in inflation that could delay a Federal Reserve interest rate hike. Other data on Thursday showed an increase in the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits last week. The trend in weekly jobless claims, however, remained consistent with a tightening labor market. “Another twist of the screw tighter for this labor market but inflation is not able to gain a foothold in this economy,” said Chris Rupkey, chief economist at MUFG in New York. “The pot is on the stove boiling but no inflation steam is coming out.” The Labor Department said its producer price index for final demand slipped 0.1 percent last month, weighed by decreasing costs for services. That was the largest decline since August 2016 and reversed June’s 0.1 percent gain. In the 12 months through July, the PPI increased 1.9 percent after rising 2.0 percent in the year through June. Economists had forecast the PPI to tick up 0.1 percent last month and 2.2 percent from a year ago. A key gauge of underlying producer price pressures that excludes food, energy and trade services was unchanged last month. The so-called core PPI gained 0.2 percent in June. The core PPI increased 1.9 percent in the 12 months through July after advancing 2.0 percent in June. Though the correlation between the PPI and the consumer price index has weakened, last month’s drop in producer prices could worry Fed officials who have long argued that the moderation in inflation was temporary. Fed Chair Janet Yellen told lawmakers last month that “some special factors” were partly responsible for the low inflation readings. Inflation, which has remained below the U.S. central bank’s 2 percent target for five years, is being watched for clues on the timing of the next interest rate increase. The Fed is expected to announce a plan to start unwinding its $4.2 trillion portfolio of Treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities at a policymaking meeting next month. But low inflation, characterized by sluggish wage growth, suggests the central bank could delay raising rates again until December. It has increased borrowing costs twice this year. The government will release July’s CPI report on Friday. Prices of U.S. Treasuries rose after the data and also benefited from safe-haven trades amid escalating tensions between the United States and North Korea. DUBLIN - Last time British Prime Minister Theresa May returned from a walking holiday, she called what turned out to be -- for her -- a disastrous election. Not this time, it is assumed. But financial markets and an eager public hoping she can provide some Brexit clarity will probably have to balance it with another week of sobering economic reality. Less than 20 months out from Britain’s March 2019 exit date from the European Union, May’s government has yet to agree on what kind of divorce it wants, let alone make any meaningful progress on the terms with EU counterparts. Some detail may come with London expected to publish a number of position papers setting out its negotiating stance on a range of issues ahead of the next round of talks between negotiators in the last week of August. Whether or not they paint a clearer picture of post-Brexit immigration, trade and regulation remain to be seen -- as does the reaction of the EU itself. But the latest economic snap shots next week of wages, retail sales and inflation will probably underline the economic challenge gradually building up. Economists polled by Reuters expect to see inflation tick up to 2.7 percent when figures for July are released on Tuesday before peaking at 2.9 percent in the last quarter of 2017. By contrast, labour market data on Wednesday will show how far pay increases lagged rising prices. The data is projected to show 1.8 percent year-on-year growth for total wages in the three months to June. Thursday’s retail sales report, meanwhile is equally as unlikely to brighten economists’ view that the world’s fifth largest economy will expand by 0.3 percent a quarter on average over the coming year. CHARLOTTESVILLE - U.S. authorities will investigate on Sunday the violence stemming from a white nationalist rally a day earlier that killed one person, injured more than 30, and challenged U.S. President Donald Trump’s leadership.

The unrest in the southern college town presented Trump with a domestic crisis, with many on both left and right criticizing him for waiting too long to address it and then, when he did so, failing to explicitly condemn the white-supremacist marchers who ignited the melee. “Absolutely we are going to have further demonstrations in Charlottesville, because our constitutional rights are being denied,” said Jason Kessler, identified by civil rights groups as a white nationalist blogger. He did not specify when. Kessler organized the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville against a plan to remove a statue to Confederate war hero Robert E. Lee from a park, saying in a telephone interview those who came in support will not back down. Four people were arrested in the violence, including James Fields, a 20-year-old white man from Ohio being held in jail on suspicion of plowing a car into a crowd of counter-protesters on Saturday, killing a 32 year-old woman and injuring 19, five of them critically. Police have not yet provided a motive for the incident but U.S. attorneys and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have opened a civil rights investigation into the crash, an FBI field office said. Federal authorities were also looking into a heli-

Trump said “many sides” were involved in the Charlottesville incidents, remarks that drew fire from across the political spectrum for not specifically denouncing white nationalists. “We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides,” Trump told reporters at his New Jersey golf course on Saturday. The planned rally stemmed from a long debate in the U.S. South over the Confederate battle flag and other symbols of the rebel side in the Civil War, which was fought over slavery. TUBAN - Indonesia has urged officials to stand up to mob pressure after Muslim and nationalist protesters called for a 30-metre-tall (100-ft-) statue of a Chinese deity erected in a temple complex in an East Java town to be torn down. The brightly-painted statue of Guan Yu, a former general who is worshipped by some Chinese, was inaugurated in July in a temple complex in the fishing town of Tuban and is claimed to be Southeast Asia’s tallest such representation of the deity.

The statue in Tuban, about 100 km (60 miles) west of the city of Surabaya, has been partially covered up after the protests, provoking both praise and ridicule on social media in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country.

“If they ask for the statue to be torn down, authorities cannot bow to such pressure,” Teten Masduki, chief of staff to President Joko Widodo, told reporters. Protesters demonstrated this week outside Surabaya’s parliament against the statue, some wearing paramilitarystyle outfits and waving placards that read “Demolish It” and “We are not worshippers of idols”. Allowing a depiction of a foreign general was “a symbol of treason to this nation,” an unnamed protester said in a video of the rally on news portal Kompas.com. Officials of the Kwan Sing Bio Temple in Tuban declined to comment, but media have quoted residents as saying the statue was good for tourism. Indonesia is a secular state whose constitution enshrines religious freedom and diversity, but there are concerns that rising intolerance threatens its reputation for moderate Islam. Muslims form about 85 percent of the population, but there are

also substantial Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and other minorities. Indonesia anti-graft organisation says death of witness will not derail investigation

JAKARTA - Indonesia’s anticorruption commission said on Saturday the death of a witness in a graft investigation implicating dozens of politicians will not derail its probe. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has already named the parliamentary Speaker, Setya Novanto, as a suspect in the investigation that targets at least 37 people. Novanto has denied any wrongdoing in the the case which dates back to 2009, and centres on allegations that sums ranging from $5,000 to $5.5 million - money generated by marking up the costs of a national electronic ID card program - were divided up in a

room in parliament. The witness, Yohanes Marliem, was reported by U.S. media to have died in West Hollywood on Thursday after a standoff with police involving several hostages. Indonesia’s National Police international relations chief Saiful Maltha told Reuters on Saturday that the U.S. authorities had confirmed Marliem’s death. “We do not know the cause of the death yet,” Maltha said, adding that his team was working with the FBI. Despite the death of the witness, KPK spokesman Febry Diansyah said the investigation would go on.

“We are confident with the evidence we have,” Diansyah told Reuters on Saturday. Indonesian domestic newspaper Kontan on Saturday published recent quotes from Marliam saying he had feared for his safety. Novanto, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) and chairman of Indonesia’s secondbiggest political party, Golkar, was named as a suspect in the case last month. MANGUPURA - Ever wanted to see what the writers were talking about when they crowned Bali “the island of the gods”? The coffee beans, both Arabica and Robusta droop from branches, starting green, then ripening into sunset yellows, oranges and reds. Picking the red berries is quick work, but it is just the beginning of the process. Farmers then sundry the coffee beans, turning them regularly. When they are dry, the beans are husked. Roasting is next, in the village ovens, and lastly grinding, releasing heady aromas which remind us what all the hard work was for. Kiadan Pelaga is surrounded by forest including native bamboo, ricefields, rivers and gorges. It offers some beautiful trekking, enhanced by the local understanding provided by your guide.

Fans pay big money for Mayweather-McGregor tickets

Fight fans attending the much-hyped boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and mixed martial artist Conor McGregor will have a chance to rub shoulders with the stars in Las Vegas -- but it won’t come cheap. The least expensive ticket listed on reseller StubHub is going for an eye-watering $1675 with two weeks to go until the Aug. 26 fight which pits undefeated boxer Mayweather against the UFC’s lightweight champion in a 12-round super welterweight matchup. “Usually for these large events it’s comparable to a Super Bowl. There’s going to be a lot of stars at these events, especially in the high-priced ticket range, the ringside seats,” StubHub spokesman Cameron Papp said. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime, bucket-list event, so the die-hard Mayweather and McGregor fans are usually going to find their way to the event.” The fight has not yet sold out, with high face values and a lack of access seeming to have slowed down demand. Yet Leonard Ellebre, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, dismissed concerns about the fight’s popularity earlier in the week. “This isn’t a damn Rolling Stones concert. They’re the only thing that sells out in seconds, he

LONDON - Mo Farah’s aura of invincibility after six years of unrelenting success was finally cracked in his very last major track race on Saturday as he lost his world 5,000 metres title to Ethiopia’s Muktar Edris. Seeking a fitting end to his matchless long-distance racing career before moving to marathon running, the 34year-old Briton’s bid for a fifth straight global 10,000/5,000m double was scuppered as he had to settle for the silver. Yet even in defeat, Farah demonstrated his champion’s spirit as he fought back in the dying metres when it looked as if he would be shut out of the medals completely. In a thrilling finale featuring four athletes careering towards the line, Farah snatched back second place behind Edris, who clocked 13 minutes 32.79 seconds after a searing final lap of 52.6 seconds. “I gave it all but I had nothing left at the end,” a crestfallen and emotional Farah said. “It’s been a long journey but it’s been incredible. It doesn’t quite sink in until you compete here and cross the line - I had a couple of minutes to myself - that this is it.

“To be honest with you it takes so much out of me. It’s not an excuse, but it took a lot more out of me than I realised.” It was a glorious win for 23-year-old Ethiopian Edris, the fastest man in the world this year, who had lost all his five previous meetings with Farah. Yet just like Usain Bolt in the 100 metres the previous weekend, it did look a race too far for the weary Briton. The Bundesliga club said on Sunday it would keep Dembele’s ban for missing training in place after the player was told he was initially suspended until after Saturday’s first round German Cup tie against amateurs Rielasingen-Arlen. “Our focus now is to have a concentrated preparation for the start of the Bundesliga (next week),” Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc said in a statement. “Obviously Ousmane Dembele has the opportunity to do individual training separate from the team.” Dembele is seen as a potential successor to Neymar at Barcelona, after the Brazilian’s record 222 million euro ($262.32 million) move to Paris St Germain earlier this month.
