One of Boyle’s stated aims was to showcase “the best of us” — and ever since the

Beatles and the Rolling Stones appropriated American blues, country and rock and remade

them into something new, the best of British has been music.

Music ran like a river through Boyle’s “Isles of Wonder” extravaganza, which depicted a Britain brutally wrenched from its rural past by industrialization and upheaval before being thrust into a fast, uncertain, exciting new world — all propelled by the throb of homegrown music. It began gently, with Ed-

ward Elgar, the hymn “Jerusalem” and “Danny Boy” — but soon started to rock. Olympic ceremonies often play it safe. But Boyle, who brought in the electronic duo Underworld as musical directors, gave his show a cheeky edge. The Sex Pistols, once the outrageous face of punk, were included with their song “Pretty Vacant.” Boyle even slipped in a few bars of the Pistols’ snarling “God Save the Queen” (“the fascist regime”) early on — although he respectfully did it before Queen Elizabeth II herself had entered the stadium.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Charlie Sheen says he’s not insane anymore. Instead, these are good days for the “Anger Management” star, he declares, with his FX sitcom half-way through its initial 10-episode run and poised to get an order for 90 more. Sheen told reporters Saturday that the prospect of continuing is as “exciting as hell,” and added cheerily, “I don’t think 90’s gonna be enough.” With the expected pickup, FX plans to bring aboard Sheen’s dad, Martin Sheen, as a recurring cast member. He will play the father of Charlie Goodson, the anger-management therapist played by Charlie Sheen. The veteran movie actor, who also

played President Jed Bartlet on the drama series “The West Wing,” is guest-starring on an “Anger Management” episode that airs Aug. 16. “I think that was the best episode we did,” his son said. Adding Sheen’s father to the series “will give an extra dimension and make it a multi-generational family show,” FX boss John Landgraf said in making the announcement. The production schedule would call for filming a total of 100 episodes in just two years. This kind of costsaving routine means no time for rehearsals, said executive producer Bruce Helford. “The actors get the lines, we see the scene, the writers make changes, the actors go to makeup, cameras are blocked, we come back together and shoot the scene,” he explained.

At first, the cast members “felt like basically they were on the ledge. Thousands of people witness naga banda procession Bali Post

GIANYAR — The center of Ubud town was thronged by thousands of people who wanted to witness the cremation procession of the Ubud royal family, the late Tjokorda Puta Dharma Yuda on Saturday (Jul 28). With the use of a naga banda (symbol of royal cremation), it then looked different from the ordinary procession. For carrying it, aside from involving the local residents of Ubud, it also involved a number of military personnel. Even, at the carrying location of the naga banda, other than the Ubud royal family, it was also seen the Udayana Military Commander, Maj. Gen. Wisnu Bawa Tanaya, in camouflage uniforms giving encouragement to the bearers. The man from Mengwi, Badung, is the son-in-law of the deceased. Flooding and landslides hitting several areas of Lemukih village, Sawan subdistrict, last March in fact still leaves a suffering to local residents. Although a number of emergency bridges have been built, residents are still hard to go out of the village because some roads are still cut off and utterly impassable. Customary hamlet chief of Buah Banjah, Lemukih village, Ketut Winda, when receiving the help from the readers of Bali Post on Thursday (Jul 26) said there were a number of major roads at Lemukih were in badly damaged condition due to landslides and flash floods few months ago. Several road sections nearly cut off so that vehicles passing through them should be careful if they did not want to fall into the precipice. Even, a road vanished at Buah Banjah. It avalanched into the abyss and was totally impassable whereas it was the main road for Lemukih residents to reach the Denpasar-Singaraja road section. According to him, it was a very important access to market the agricultural products to Pan-

casari and Bedugul. Since the road was impassable, residents should pass through Singaraja town to market their agricultural products to Pancasari and Bedugul, Baturiti, Tabanan. “Passing through Singaraja surely costs more expensive,” he said. Due to cut off road, said Winda, local people were forced to sell their fruits such as mangosteen, durian and ceroring (Lansium domesticum) to collectors who wanted to come to Lemukih. By all means, the price was cheaper than if residents could bring their own products to Pancasari or Bedugul. “To that end, we hope the new Buleleng Regent can attempt to repair the road as soon as possible,” he expected. Kadek Ardika, said that in general the main road from Lemukih village to Bedugul was indeed in severe damage. The flooding washed away the asphalt layer and only left the stones and soils. For temporary need, the residents built emergency concrete road that could be passed through by motorcycles. Ardika told that before hit by the flooding and landslide, the road had indeed been damaged. At that time, the government actually had measured the road for a repair. However, before the repair was implemented, the landslide and flooding came and damaged the road. As consequence, the condition was getting more severe. “Such severe damage has not been repaired so far,” he said. (kmb15)

BBPOM Bali seized 13,105 packs of traditional medicine containing drugs Denpasar (Bali Post)—

Throughout the year 2012, the Bali Agency of Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) carried out a supervision and inspection against traditional medicine in Bali. As a result, within the first semester, it could seize at least 13,105 packs of traditional medicines containing drugs. Met in her office, the Head of Inspection and Investigation of the BBPOM Bali, I Gusti Ayu Adhi Aryapatni, described the traditional medicines containing drugs were found in the stalls, herbal shops to distributors. Most of them were seized in Denpasar, Tabanan and Jembrana. According to Aryapatni, the traditional medicine was not allowed to contain drugs. Once consumption and in small dose would not probably cause a direct effect on health. However, in bulk, the drugs could cause an accelerated heart rate to peptic ulcer. If consumed in the long term, the drugs could cause a disorder in the stomach, kidney to heart. Some products seized, according to Aryapatni, even had got registration symbol of traditional medicine if they were safe for consumption. However, the producers mostly consisting of cottage industry then violated the trust by adding drugs to their products. “At the examination to get registration symbol, the producers did not add any drugs so that they could pass it. But after obtaining the registration symbol, they added the drugs and sold them to people. It is the function of periodical examination by BBPOM,” said Aryapatni. One of the traditional medicines that had registration symbol but known to contain drugs was the Pronojiwo Pegal Linu (used to relieve stiff). From the

result of examination, the traditional medicine was known to contain phenylbutazone. “This product has got cancelation of registration symbol on June 22, 2012. However, some of the products are apparently still circulating in the community,” explained Aryapatni. According to Aryapatni, the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) had also issued a circular on some traditional medicines having a problem regarding the drug content, non-possession of registration symbol and discontinuation of production. A total of 36 producers were included in the circular. “We then followed it up by conducting regular inspections. Of the 36 manufacturers and products, some are found in Bali,” said Aryapatni. With the mischievousness of producers violating the trust of consumers and registration symbol issued by the BBPOM, Aryapatni urged all the people to be more careful in consuming traditional medicines. She gave a suggestion to recognize the traditional medicine being free from drugs. “Since traditional medicine contains natural ingredients, its effect to the body takes a long time. For example, a slimming medicine will work within one or two days. If the effect works instantly, it should be suspected to contain drug,” said Aryapatni. Of the 13,105 packages secured, they consisted of 125 kinds of traditional medicine dominated by the potency enhancing drugs. The products seized would be eliminated and some were kept for evidence. “For those related to legal cases, we keep them as evidence, while the others were eliminated,” she added. (san)

Balinese Temple Ceremony Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

7 nations face sanctions over endangered species

GENEVA — Seven nations may lose their ability to legally trade tens of thousands of wildlife species after U.N. conservation delegates agreed Thursday to penalize them for lacking tough regulations or failing to report on their wildlife trade. The suspensions against the seven nations — Comoros, GuineaBissau, Paraguay, Nepal, Rwanda, Solomon Islands and Syria — were approved by consensus among the delegates and would take effect Oct. 1. They would prevent the countries from legally trading in any of the 35,000 species regulated by the 175-nation Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, said Juan Carlos Vasquez, a spokesman for the U.N. office that administers the treaty. Delegations to the weeklong meeting of CITES, a treaty overseen by the U.N. Environment Program in Geneva, agreed to trade suspensions against Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, Paraguay and Rwanda based on their lack of national laws for regulating the lucrative wildlife trade. The Geneva meeting’s attendees also agreed to trade suspensions against Guinea-Bissau,

Nepal, Rwanda, Solomon Islands and Syria based on their failure to adequately report what they are doing to regulate wildlife trade, as they are required to do under the CITES treaty. To avoid the sanctions, and the prospect of losing millions of dollars in commerce, the seven must now draw up the required legislation or submit their missing annual reports to CITES by Oct. 1. According to CITES, about 97 percent of the species it regulates are commercially traded for food, fuel, forest products, building materials, clothing, ornaments, health care, religious items, collections, trophy hunting and other sport. The other 3 percent are generally prohibited.

If I had been drinking something at the time, I would have spit it all over my screen. That’s because I was reading a laptop buying guide that was so superficial, so full of errors, half-truths and oversimplifications, that I couldn’t believe my eyes. I won’t name any names (cough, The New York Times), but this was my favorite gem: “Most flash drives still exceed 300 gigabytes, which is enough for most people.” Um, actually most SSDs start at 128GB. If I were a parent reading a guide like that heading into the back-to-school season, I would have just thrown up my hands and did some eerie eeny-meeny-miny-mo at Best Buy. But you don’t have to. Just follow my simple buying tips. 1. Choose The Right Size Although 15-inch laptops tend to be the cheapest, 13- and 14-inch models are better for students on the go because they usually weigh under 5 pounds, making them much easier to transport to and from class. If you’re shopping for a high school student who will be using the system mostly at home, a 15-incher will be fine, but even then they’ll probably want to easily move it from room to room. A smaller 11-inch laptop will often do the trick, but it’s not as practical back at the dorm, where your student would probably want to plug it into a bigger monitor. 2. Pay for Premium Design One feature back-to-school shoppers tend to overlook is the look and feel of the laptop and materials used. Dang Khayangan Amerthasari Temple

Trace Back a Pilgrimage of Ancient Sage

Amerthasari Temple located about 1.5 km south of Negara town is one of the Dang Khayangan temples in Jembrana. From time immemorial to the present, the temple situating amid the customary settlement of Lokasari, or precisely Mertasari hamlet, Loloan Timur, Negara, is venerated by the subak members. It is reflected at the beginning of each planting season. To keep away their plants from diseases, residents are always saying prayers and starting their activities from the temple. It is a universal temple because it is used to venerate a great religious teacher, Danghyang Nirartha and closely associated with his pilgrimage to the Island of Bali. Building of this temple has been renovated in 1961 but in 1965 the temple building was abandoned and the renovation was totally discontinued. Ultimately, on July 14, 1976, the entire building collapsed as hit by earthquake. After that, four customary villages were responsible for the temple existence, namely the BB Agung, Puseh Agung of Banjar Tengah village, Kertha Jaya customary village of Pendem village, and Lokasari customary village of Loloan Timur village. At the beginning of the Merthasari Temple and before the renovation in 1965, there was only one temple located under a large banyan tree. Priest of the Merthasari Temple, Mangku Nendra, said that previously there was a small pond around the temple. After the renovation, the pond was moved and a meru shrine

was established. Now, it has been added with a Padma shrine on the pond. Meanwhile, water of the pond is taken modernly from the ground with the depth of about 15 meters, and then flowed under the Padma shrine. As a matter of fact, it was named Amerthasari Temple. However, for consideration of easier pronunciation, it was then called Merthasari. The current temple priest, denoting the third generation, mentioned the meaning of Amerthasari was that Amertha meant the whole foods, while Sari meant the essence. Mangku Nendra is the successor of the previous temple priest, namely Nengah Netra who was also his deceased father. Meanwhile, the first was still unclear because the temple was still not restored at that time. At the moment, the Dang Khayangan Amerthasari Temple has some shrines, namely the Ratu Nyoman, Padmasana, Meru, Pepelik, Taksu and Dewa Ayu Manik Galih dedicated to venerate the Goddess Sri. Genesis of the temple has something to do with Danghyang Nirartha. When arriving in Bali, Pedanda Sakti taught religion at Gede Perancak Temple where currently the Dang Khayangan Perancak Temple has been moved to Tanjung Tangis. At that time, he asked the monkeys where there was another village. The monkey responded by facing north and there laid a village called Budeng. There lived black monkey or Ijah. As soon as arriving at the village, he asked again where there was a village, and the monkeys were

facing the west, now becoming the location of the Merthasari Temple. When arriving at the village, he taught the people about agriculture, farming and trade. The Telaga Taman was a very fertile area. Religious life was quite good. In this area, there were five sanctums. In the long run, it turned into Amerthasari village and is now called Mertasari. Now, the temple whose anniversary falls on Anggara Kasih (Tuesday) Perangbakat is venerated by four customary villages namely the Lokasari (Mertasari), Dauh Waru, Pendem and Batu Agung. Mangku added that other than the temple, there was also the Taman Temple that formerly was a pond. “In days of yore, there was a temple located beneath the banyan tree,” explained Nendra. Aside from the six shrines existing today, the temple sitting on the area of 1800 square meters also has a Peselang pavilion to place gamelan instrument, Piasan, storing chamber and the easternmost is pavilion of Banten Piodalan (oblation). In the past, most of the supporting devotees were farmers, but now they are from four customary villages and even from beyond Bali. As the existing plan, this temple area will be expanded to the current parking lot. After the land acquisition, it will become about 3,000 square meters. Renovation and expansion of the temple area will include the temple building, construction of base fence, parking lot expansion, the arrangement of temple landscaping, as well as the wantilan hall. GENEVA - Bali is to be the venue of next World Trade Organization inter-ministerial meeting, the international trade arbiter said. The decision to hold the ninth Ministerial Conference (MC9) in the first week in December 2013 was decided by the WTO General Council meeting in Geneva on July 25-26. Making the announcement late Friday, chair of the General Council Ambassador Elin Johansen of Norway thanked Indonesia for its “kind offer”, which she said was “a clear sign of its commitment towards this organization”. Members would discuss the precise dates of MC9 after the summer break, Johansen added. Representatives from Indonesia said that in the face of the global economic crisis the inter-ministerial meeting could galvanise and strengthen international trade. It could also help relaunch negotiations on the stalled Doha accords, which focus on dismantling obstacles to trade for poor nations, Indonesia said. “In the situation where crisis is still hampering the global economy, Indonesia continues to believe that the multilateral trading system has

a significant role in fostering a fair global trade, sustaining the world economic growth, eradicating poverty and creating job opportunities,” its delegation said. “In this regard, the next MC9 will therefore be very important to re-energize the negotiation process and the progress achieved so far, and to strengthen the multilateral trading system.” It said Indonesia also hoped the exotic ambiance, the warm weather and the hospitality of the people of Bali “will rejuvenate and renew the constructive spirit” of the Doha negotiations. The Doha round of global trade talks began in 2001 but have been dogged by disagreement, including how much the United States and the European Union should reduce farm aid and the extent to which emerging market giants such as India and China should cut tariffs on industrial products. The Ministerial Conference is the highest decision-making body of the WTO and meets approximately every two years. The last one was held in Geneva in December.

Harvest coincides with fasting month Watermelon growers rejoice

Watermelon growers in Buleleng are now rejoicing because the watermelon harvest this year coincides with the fasting month so that the number of orders increases compared to normal days. A watermelon farmer at Subak Nyungsangiang, Kaliasem village, Banjar subdistrict, Wayan Astrawan, Friday (Jul 27), said the demand from his customers in the harvest season of this year, continued to increase. It occurred because the watermelon was often used as one of the menus at the time of fasting break. Other than purchased in person by his customers, the demand also came from collectors buying up his harvest yields. “Yes, the harvest time coincides with the fasting month, so that many collectors buy my watermelon to be supplied to Denpasar and other regions in Bali,” he said. According to Astrawan, the seeded watermelon cost about IDR 2,500 per kilogram, while the seedless one was more ex-

pensive, reaching IDR 3,500 per kilogram. A watermelon averagely weighed three to eight kilograms. “The harvest yields are quite good as evidenced by the large size of each piece. There was no disease from the time of planting until harvesting,” he explained. Astrawan also added that Nyungsangiang hamlet, Kaliasem village, had been indeed known as the producer of watermelon since 1997. No wonder, it was then found so many watermelon plants in that area. In each planting season, he contracted the farmland of 0.30 hectare owned by farmer. Such land area was then planted with some 3,100 seedlings of watermelon. A truck contains varied goods including 10 liquid boxes of hydrogen peroxide burnt in Padangbai Habour parking area at Karangasem last Friday (27/7) around 1 am local time. As KP3 Sea Executive Police prepared at Padangbai, they managed to stop the fire before it spread. Head of the Police, PC Dewa Ketut Nila Candra, as permitted by Karangasem Head police, stated the fire was acknowledged first by police who is patrolling. The driver of truck L 9220 UA, Kaerudin from Ampenan, Lombok, was ordered to park his truck

to the side and in one hour the fire can be turned off with the help of fire brigades from Karangasem Transportation Agency. There are no casualties in this incident yet the loss experienced could reach IDR 100 million. The truck was coming from Surabaya about to go to West Nusa Tenggara. The truck contains 539 wood board, 307 shoe boxes, 8 coil chairs, 8 aquarium, 17 plastic coil, 10 boxes of hydrogen peroxide 30 and sandals coil. The causer to the fire is still being investigated and it was stated the fire spread fast in the truck as it contains flammable goods. The remains of the truck is now still on the harbor parking lot. Attacked by dog, toddler face injured Tabanan (Bali Post)-

The dog bite case in Tabanan appearing again as a toddler’s nose is being bitten last Thursday (26/7). The toddler, Gusti Kadek Agung Gading Fernando (3.5) from Banjar Sembung Gede Kaja, Sembung Gede Village, Kerambitan, was then treated at Wings International Hospital, Nyitdah, Kediri, Tabanan. The incident happened around 11 am local time when victim was going to the river with his sibling who owns a dog. It is suspected victim was teasing the dog that is being tied to a tree yet the local race dog attacked victim and caused the toddler’s nose ripped and the face wounded, filled with blood. “When helped, victim was crying in pain,” victim’s grandma, Gusti Ayu Made Sugati (48), stated last Friday (27/7). During the incident, victim’s parents Gusti Ayu Putu Suartini (32) and Sunaryo (40) were working outside the village. Victim was then brought to Tabanan Hospital then had surgery also receiving an Anti Rabies Virus (VAR) and Anti Rabies Serum (SAR). According to Suartini, the dog has been biting

several locals lately yet now it has gone worse. The dog was owned by Head of Sembung Gede, Gede Gusti Nengah Selantara. The dog has been always tied yet always injected with anti rabies injection. Post surgery, victim’s condition got better yet he was experiencing serious wound which caused five stitches has to be given. Worst wound seen on the nose and lip including under the eye as stated by Vice Director of Tabanan Hospital, dr. Luh Gede Sukardiasih. Victim has now been given antibiotic and luckily the scratch and bite did not get to victim’s eyes. The child has eat and drink normally yet doctors still has to supervise his condition as the bite location is near to the head. Post the incident, the dog was then eliminated where Tabanan Animal Husbandry workers checked the Kintamani type dog condition to see if it has rabies or not. “For that we have to take its brain. Then, there was no regulation setting forth so that the Bukit campus could run optimally. For example, the Denpasar campus should no longer be used for any lectures, but should only be used for practice purposes or others. He asserted if the campus at Bukit Jimbaran was not optimized, the Denpasar campus would be getting more crowded. “If the Bukit campus is not optimized, the Denpasar campus like that on Jalan Sudirman will be more crowded. KT said the hackers -- formally arrested on Sunday -- had stolen data such as customers’ names, phone numbers and residential registration numbers for five months since February and sold the information to telemarketing firms. “The number of affected people account for nearly a half of about 17 million customers of ours,” a KT spokesman told AFP, adding the company had alerted police on July 13 after detecting traces of hacking attacks. Yonhap news agency, citing police, said the duo -- including a former veteran programmer at a local IT company -- had earned

at least 1 billion won (about $880,000) by selling the stolen data. Seven other people were also booked for buying the leaked data for telemarketing purposes, Yonhap said. “We deeply bow our head in apology for having your precious personal information leaked... we’ll try our best to make such things never happen again,” KT said in a statement to customers. Hacking attacks on major companies aimed to gain access to the personal data of their customers is a frequent occurence in South Korea, one of the world’s mostwired nations.

At least 14 pilgrims were killed when a jeep carrying them to a sacred Hindu site in southern Nepal swerved off a highway and fell 100 metres (330 feet) into a stream below, police said on Saturday. The President noted that many investors still complained about poor infrastructures. “We should like to admit that domestic infrastructures are still poor. The government is inviting investors to jointly build infrastructures. Therefore, we need joint technology and research and development centers to develop manufacturing industry,” he said. Fiscal incentives were needed to attract more foreign investors, he said. “There must be good incentives so investors are willing to invest in Indonesia. Rising investment particularly in the infrastructure sector is key to facing AEC by 2015,” he said.

JAKARTA — Efforts to save a beached whale in Indonesia are being thwarted by hordes of spectators and some may have climbed on the creature. One of the rescuers said the 12-meter (39-foot) giant sperm

whale washed ashore Wednesday near West Java’s Krawang beach and attracted hundreds of onlookers who posed for pictures with it. Rescuers tried to lead the whale to sea Thursday, but it washed back to shore after fishing boats packed with paying passengers blocked it from swimming.

Pramudya Harzani from the Jakarta Animal Aid Network said Friday that the whale was dying. He said the whale was scratched and bruised, apparently from people climbing on it. Police are trying to keep people away while waiting for a ship to pull the whale back to sea.

The 38year-old had had been reported in a newspaper as about to pull out of the Games, but she insisted that she will test the injury one more time before making a decision. The organisers of the London Olympics faced a growing storm Sunday over blocks of empty seats at several venues, while British police were reportedly probing an alleged black-market scandal. Local organisers LOCOG and the International Olympic Committee said they were urgently investigating why there were rows and rows of unoccupied seats at venues including Wimbledon for the tennis and the Aquatics Centre. As organisers were overwhelmed with demand for Olympics tickets when they went on sale and thousands of people were left disappointed, the sight of unoccupied seats has sparked anger in Britain. LOCOG blamed the embarrassing sight of unfilled venues on “accredited bodies”, meaning the International Olympic Committee, sponsors and the media who have all been allocated tickets and failed to show up. A source told AFP the local organisers were “extremely frustrated” by the empty seats, and were working flat-out to find a solution. Many fans pointed out that gaps were visible at the Aquatics Centre, normally packed to the rafters for the early swimming action. In contrast, huge crowds lined the streets of London, where tickets were not required, to watch Team GB compete in the cycling road race. Britain’s culture minister Jeremy Hunt admitted the empty seats were “very disappointing” and suggested they could be offered to members of the public. He added: “I was at the Beijing Games, in 2008, and one of the lessons that we took away from that, is that full stadia create the best atmosphere, it’s best for the athletes, it’s more fun for the spectators, it’s been an absolute priority. “LOCOG are doing a full investigation into what happened. I think it was accredited seats that belonged to sponsors, but if they’re not going to turn up, we want those tickets to be available for members of the public, because that creates the best atmosphere. “We are looking at this very urgently at the moment.” One angry punter at the Olympic Park blamed corporate ticket-holders for failing to take up their seats. “It’s not fair. There’s thousands of people who would have got into that swimming pool to watch the races this morning and couldn’t get in,” he told BBC TV. “They’ve (now) panicked about the political situation of the stadium being empty. We couldn’t even get in but people were coming out saying how the stadium was half-empty. “There were thousands of people stood outside wishing to go in.”
