Jane Krakowski is heard in the one-hour season premiere on Sept. 14, with a second episode immediately following. “The Simpsons” returns for its 26th season on Sept. 28. Fonda plays Mr. Burns’ girlfriend, while Willem Dafoe voices the part of Bart’s bullying teacher Mr. Lassen. Offerman and Silverman are heard in other episodes. NEW YORK — The summer box office continued to lack mojo, as the R-rated “Sex Tape” failed to turn on moviegoers on a weekend where “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” maintained its rule. 20th Century Fox’s science fiction sequel outmuscled a trio of new films to top the North American box office for the second-straight week with $36 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The acclaimed sequel to 2011’s reboot of the chimp franchise has now made $139 million domestically in two weeks. Its closest completion over the weekend was the home-invasion horror thriller “The Purge: Anarchy,” written and directed by James DeMoncaco. Universal’s low-budget sequel to last year’s surprise hit, “The Purge,” opened with $28.4 million, down from the $34.1 million the original scared up on opening weekend. Nikki Rocco, head of distribution for Universal, though, noted the stronger competition this time around and the overall “depressed” business at movie theaters. Weekend revenue was down 24 percent from the same weekend last year, continuing a cold summer for Hollywood that’s more than 20 percent off the pace of the summer of 2013. But “Anarchy,” which imagines an America where all crime is legal for 12 hours every year, was made for only $9 million, making it immediately profitable for Universal. MANGUPURA - Kelan customary village sent a letter to the president of the Republic of Indonesia related to the reclamation plan of Benoa Bay. In essence, the letter contained the firm rejection of Kelan villagers as the reclamation plan was assessed to only hurt the people. As planned, the letter would be brought in person by Chief of Kelan customary village, I Made Sugita, to the State Secretariat, Jakarta, Monday (Jul 21).

The letter to be sent to the president was No.0148 /DAK /VI/2014 dated June 30, 2014 with the subject of rejection against the reclamation. location of the reclamation plan,” said Made Sugita accompanied by deputy chief I Nyoman Parta and environmental section head I Wayan Yuda, Sunday (Jul 20). Sugita revealed the letter was the result of the public meeting of Kelan villagers. It was held on June 29, 2014 in Wantilan hall of Kelan customary village. The meeting discussed the work program of customary village, where one of which discussed about the Benoa Bay reclamation plan. Results of the meeting were carried in the minutes of meeting No.0102 / DAK-BA/ VI/2014 dated June 29, 2014, that expressly on behalf of customary villagers of Kelan, Tuban village,

Kuta subdistrict, the customary village rejected the implementation of reclamation. The meeting was attended by all customary village apparatuses, representatives and association of temple priests of Kelan and all villagers. In the minutes of the meetings were also appended their signatures. On the basis of the decision of the community, Sugita also said that his party did not want any of the parties trying to pass the reclamation plan. His party also rejected any intervention attempting to influence the attitudes of Kelan customary villagers that had expressly rejected the reclamation

plan of Benoa Bay. In this case, Sugita questioned about the invitation for him as chief of customary village to attend a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) held by the Center for Sustainable Development Studies, Udayana University, to be held on July 25, 2014 in the main conference room of the southern building of Bali Culture Agency. “The invitation is in connection with the assessment of the socio-cultural aspects of Benoa Bay region in responding to the development of activities in the region. Measles spread, avoid with immunizations

DENPASAR - A traveler from Germany was found dead in a villa at Sanur Kauh, South Denpasar, Saturday (Jul 19). Mrs. Heike Bartsch, 46, was found lying in the bathroom covered in blood. Meanwhile, police still performed an investigation. As information gathered, based on the investigation at crime scene on Jalan Batur Sari Gang VIII/16 Sanur Kauh, South Denpasar, police found blood spots on the shower floor where the victim’s body was found. “As provisional estimate, the victim died of hard impact, so there were spots of blood on the floor,” said a police source, Sunday (Jul 20). The finding began when Mrs. Nicole Laughlin, 45, came to the victim’s residence around 2:00 p.m., Saturday (Jul 20). “Nicole was contacted by the victim’s employee

in Bima (NTB), asking for help to check because the victim did not pick up the phone and replied to the text messages,” he explained. Since the door was locked, this woman from Switzerland came into the victim’s residence by jumping the fence. When checked, Mrs. Heike Bartsch was found lying in the bathroom, precisely at the rear shower. “The victim was found lying, naked and still held the shower,” he said while adding that the victim was then rushed to Prima Medika Hospital, while the incident was reported to South Denpasar Police. Chief of South Denpasar Police, Nanang Prihasmoko, when asked for his confirmation justified the finding of a woman from Germany who died in the bathroom. Balinese Temple Ceremony Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

Experts say that, at the experimental level, human skills are already being enhanced or replaced by robots and other hi-tech substitutes -- and these may become commonplace just a few years from now. “If one had spoken of this 10 years ago, people would have said it’s science fiction. Today, it is a reality,” French ophthalmologist Gerard Dupeyron said of one of the most advanced technologies helping people today -- the bionic eye. Last year, scientists at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore said they had developed a creepy-crawly device inspired by the humble maggot that zaps tumours with electricity and sucks up the debris. The finger-like prototype has multiple joints allowing it to move in several directions, according to a press release from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, which funded the work. The idea for the tiny neurosurgical robot was born from the difficulty doctors have to reach many types of deep-seated tumours in the brain. Researchers were testing the safety of the device in pigs and human cadavers. Inspired by crab pincers, scientists in Singapore created a tiny robot which can access a person’s stomach via the

throat to cut up tumours using miniature claws. One robotic arm holds the tumour while the other slices away, according to the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), which took part in the research. The procedure, that could take as little as 20 minutes, may one day eliminate the need for surgery, which can take hours. The Master and Slave Transluminal Endoscopic Robot (MASTER) has been tested successfully in patients, according to the NTU.

MONTPELIER, Vermont — Marijuana edibles and infused products such as snack bars, olive oils and tinctures have flourished into a gourmet market of chocolate truffles, whoopie pies and hard candies as Colorado and Washington state legalized the recreational use of pot in the past year. The proliferation of marijuana edibles for both medical and recreational purposes is giving rise to a cottage industry of baked goods, candies, infused oils, cookbooks and classes that promises a slow burn as more states legalize the practice and awareness spreads about the best ways to deliver the drug. “You’re seeing a lot of these types of products like cannabis cookbooks,” said Erik Altieri, spokesman for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. “They’ve always been popular among a subset of marijuana, but with the fact that more and more people from the mainstream are able to consume, there’s a lot more interest.” Many pot users turn to edibles because they don’t like to inhale or smell the smoke or just want variety. The plane crashed in rebel-held territory, and the separatists — who are being blamed for shooting down the plane by much of the international community, including the United States — have been accused of preventing emergency workers from retrieving the victims’ bodies. The issue has caused deep resentment in Malaysia, where many have blasted Russian President Vladimir Putin. Even politicians, who on Friday were careful not to point any fingers, seem to be losing patience. “Pro-Russian terrorists have not handled #MH17 victims with dignity. Putin promised PM @NajibRazak he would help. He hasn’t,” Malaysian Youth and Sport Minister Khairy Jamaluddin tweeted Sunday, referring to Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. As people headed to Kuala Lumpur shopping malls on Sunday, their minds were still reeling from the horrific images of the crash site that have inundated television screens here. Many were calling for tough economic sanctions and an international boycott of Russian goods and services. “Our government and the whole world have to do something about this case,” said 27-year-old Nur Zehan Abu Bakar, who works in the education sector. “If not, what will happen to our country? What will happen to (Malaysia Airlines)? To show that we are angry with Russia and if they still continue not to help us, I think the best way is for all Malaysians to boycott Russian products.” Charles Foo, a retiree who was spending time with his family outside a mall, echoed Nur Zehan’s sentiments. “They (Russia) are a big country. We are a very small country, so how much can we do, unless all nations in the world stop buying their goods and whatever,” he said. Malaysia is one of Russia’s main trading partners in Southeast Asia. Russia also is a key supplier for Malaysia’s military, delivering 18 Sukhoi fighter jets to the Malaysian air force over the past decade. James Chin, a professor at the political science unit of Monash University in Malaysia, said he believed it was unlikely that Russian-Malaysian relations would be seriously harmed as a result of the incident, though he added that a lot would depend on the outcome of the official investigation. Some Malaysians said it was important to remain rational and wait for the investigation to be completed. “For now, I will calm myself down and not listen to all the noise,” a 36-year-old dancer, who wanted to be identified only by his family name, Wong, said at a popular Kuala Lumpur shopping district. “There is no point for me to get emotional at the moment. UN to vote on crash resolution

CANBERRA — Diplomats said the U.N. Security Council could vote as early as Monday on an Australia-proposed resolution demanding international access to the Ukraine plane crash site and a cease-fire around the area. But Australia and Russia late Sunday were still working out key differences, and Britain accused Moscow of using “delaying tactics.” The resolution calls for proRussia separatists to allow access to the site of the downed Malaysia Airlines passenger jet carrying 298 people, including 37 Australian citizens and residents. It asks for the full cooperation of all countries in the region, including Russia. Australia’s foreign minister, Julie Bishop, said she expects all 15 council members to support her country’s proposal. But Russia’s U.N. ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, said Moscow is concerned the draft “does not accurately reflect the need for an impar-

tial, international investigation.” He said Russia is proposing that the International Civil Aviation Organization, a U.N. agency, take the lead in the investigation. The current proposal welcomes “the decision by ICAO to send a team to assist” Ukrainian investigators. Churkin spoke to reporters on the sidelines of an emergency Security Council meeting on the Israeli-Palestinian fighting in Gaza. He said he and his Australian colleagues planned to stay after that meeting to hold further consultations on the Ukraine resolution. British Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant accused Russia of proposing amendment after amendment to delay passage of the resolution. “It looks like a typical Russian delay in tactics, and one can guess why they want delay,” Lyall Grant told reporters. The resolution also demands that armed groups who control the crash site do not disturb debris, belongings or victims’ remains and cease military activities in the area.

Churkin said Russia had proposed “a cease-fire around the crash site” and that Australia had accepted that idea. He did not say how large the cease-fire area would be. The resolution also demands that “those responsible for this incident be held to account and that all states cooperate fully with efforts to establish accountability.” U.N. diplomats have tweeted that the council will vote Monday afternoon on the proposal cosponsored by Australia, France and Lithuania. Russia has the power to veto the resolution as a permanent council member. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said Australia would view a Russian veto of the resolution “very badly,” adding that “no reasonable person” could object to its wording. “This is still an absolutely shambolic situation. It does look more like a garden clean-up than a forensic investigation,” he told reporters.

President urges presidential election loser to concede

JAKARTA - Indonesia’s outgoing leader on Monday came within a whisker of telling retired general Prabowo Subianto to admit defeat so that the country’s most bitterly fought leadership contest could be resolved. Prabowo has almost certainly lost the July 9 election but on Sunday cried foul and demanded the Elections Commission investigate vote cheating before he would accept its result. The Commission is due to announce the result on Monday or Tuesday. “Admitting defeat is noble,” President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono told reporters in a clear reference to Prabowo. A protracted wrangle over the election outcome could undermine confidence in Southeast Asia’s biggest economy which has seen strong investment in recent years. Private tallies of the 130 million votes show Jakarta governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo won by about five percentage points over Prabowo who has spent the last 10 years preparing for his presidential bid. Prabowo’s recalcitrance has led to fears his supporters might turn violent and some have threatened to rally outside the Elections Commission (KPU) office in central Jakarta ahead of the official result, which under law must be declared by July 22. The national police and military have

deployed nearly 300,000 personnel across the vast archipelago of 240 million people. Security has also been beefed up around the KPU office but there has been no word of any violence. “We don’t anticipate the KPU to be a hot spot for violence,” national police spokesperson Boy Rafli Amar told Reuters. “At the same time, we ask the public not to assemble there so that the KPU officials can continue their work in a conducive atmosphere.” Candidates can lodge complaints with the Constitutional Court, which has been done by the losers in the previous two presidential elections. The Court has to return a verdict on any challenge within two weeks. The verdict cannot be appealed. “If there is someone who does not accept the official result, I would advise them to peacefully go the constitutional route,” said Yudhoyono, who hosted both candidates for dinner at the presidential palace on Sunday night. KPU officials said reports of irregularities have been investigated as recommended by the election watchdog. They said the number of disputed votes numbered in the thousands.

Analysts reckon it would need a reversal of up to seven million votes to hand Prabowo victory. As it has become increasingly clear that Prabowo has lost, so signs have grown that key supporters may be ready to leave his “permanent coalition” of parties, or join the other side. “The election has been completed and my job is complete. I’ve failed the Prabowo ... ticket,” Mahfud MD, a widely respected former chief of the Constitutional Court and head of Prabowo’s campaign team told media. Members of the biggest party backing Prabowo, Golkar, also appear to be turning against their own chief Aburizal Bakrie, who is a staunch supporter of Prabowo. Bakrie, who heads a prominent, debtladen conglomerate, has been a key Prabowo ally. Indonesia, a member of the G-20 group of nations, was swept by bloodshed in which hundreds of people were killed when strongman ruler Suharto was ousted in 1998 after more than three decades in power. JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) will go ahead with its recapitulation on the results of the July 9 presidential election, although a presidential candidate’s success team has threatened to take the matter to court. “We will continue to hold a plenary meeting based on the schedule and regulations,” KPU Chairman Husni Kamil Manik stated after chairing an open plenary session on the national recapitulation of the presidential election result on Monday. Manik noted that the national recapitulation day on Monday was the second day of the recapitulation, which will be held for three days until Tuesday (July 22). “So, no one can stop us. The recapitulation will proceed,” he stressed. Manik remarked that his side will not pay heed to the Prabowo-Hatta pair’s success team’s threat of taking the matter to court on grounds that the recapitulation process had legal flaws. The warning was issued by the success team rather than the presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, the KPU chairman added. Alamsyah of the Prabowo-Hatta pair’s legal team earlier remarked that fraud had occurred in many regions, so he had given the KPU time until Monday to stop its recapitulation. If it continues with the recapitulation process, the team will take up the matter in the court. On the first day, vote recapitulation was carried out in 15 provinces with the Prabowo-Hatta duo temporarily leading with 13,176,384 votes ahead of the Joko WidodoJusuf Kalla pair’s 12,249,515 votes. According to the recapitulation data, the Prabowo team won 926,869 votes more than those garnered by the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla ticket. The KPU has planned to announce the official result of the July 9, 2014, presidential election on Tuesday (July 22). To ensure security and order, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command will implement a multi-tiered security system during the announcement of the presidential election result. “The KPU compound will be sterilized,” the command’s Deputy Chief Brigadier General Sudjarno noted. At the time of the announcement, the police will cordon off the KPU office to prohibit the entry of people within a certain radius of the building, Sudjarno remarked. The supporters of rival candidates attending the announcement will be stopped at different locations to prevent a possible clash that can arise as the crowds start to gather, Sudjarno added. The command will deploy 3,121 personnel to ensure security during the final recount ahead of the announcement of the final result of the election on July 22, he explained. The July 9 election was contested by two pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates. After the conclusion of the voting process, both the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and the Joko WidodoJusuf Kalla pairs claimed victory. In the meantime, several survey institutions have declared the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo as the winner based on their quick vote counts. Hamilton feared for F1 marshals’ safety

Lewis Hamilton feared for the safety of the Formula 1 marshals at the German Grand Prix when a safety car was not brought out for Adrian Sutil’s spun Sauber. Sutil had left his car in the middle of the circuit after the final corner following a spin on lap 48 of his home race. With the FIA deciding that a safety car was not needed, marshals had to run across the track and push the Sauber to safety while cars raced past at full speed. Hamilton said he was extremely worried about the situation - and recalled the Tom Pryce tragedy from the 1977 South African Grand Prix when the Welshman and marshal Frikkie Jansen van Vuuren were killed in a collision. “I was really concerned for the marshals, really concerned,” said Hamilton. “You come around that corner at serious speed, and then there are marshals standing not far from where you are driving past. For me that is the closest it has been for a long, long time.” Hamilton said that as he was going past the scene, his mind was cast back to video footage he had seen of Pryce’s horrific accident, when the Shadow driver struck van Vuuren as the marshal carried a fire extinguisher across the track to attend to Renzo Zorzi’s parked car. “I used to work at a driving school in Bedford and one day I came in and they had this video playing all the time. I am sure that Van Gaal will make a host of signings before the Premier League season kicks off and we will be looking at a completely different Manchester United team next season. The Red Devils will improve from last season, because let’s face it they could not get much worse. Last season is likely to be a blip for United and with Van Gaal at the helm the Red Devils are now likely to move in the right direction.
