LOS ANGELES - This is what makes Disney such a powerhouse. “Beauty and the Beast,” the studio’s latest live action update of a cartoon classic, waltzed its way to a towering $170 million debut this weekend, setting a new record for a March opening and solidifying the Mouse House’s status as the dominant player in the film business. No other company can match the streak that Disney is currently enjoying, thanks to a series of multibillion acquisitions that put the likes of Pixar, Marvel, and LucasFilm in its Magic Kingdom.

“Beauty and the Beast” represents another part of Disney’s branded strategy. It’s the latest fairy tale adaptation to hit screens. Others in the lucrative group include “Alice in Wonderland,” which picked up $1 billion worldwide, “Cinderella” with its $543.5 million global haul, and last year’s “The Jungle Book,” which racked up a mighty $966.6 million after finishing its run. Remakes of “Dumbo” and “Mulan” are already in the works, as Disney commits to putting a live action spin on the bulk of its animated properties (Fans of “Treasure Planet” may be out of luck). The latest fairy tale follows Belle, a bookish girl in France played by Harry Potter film veteran Emma Watson, who helps a tortured Beast (Dan Stevens of “Downton Abbey” fame) break out of his shell. In the process she lifts a curse that’s left the Beast’s kingdom populated by talking household items. “Beauty and the Beast” didn’t muck about with the elements that made the 1991 film so beloved. Director Bill Condon kept the basic plot intact, while fleshing out a bit more of Belle’s backstory, and retaining a soundtrack that includes “Be Our Guest” and “Belle.” All those elaborate musical numbers and chatty cutlery don’t come cheap. “Beauty and the Beast” carries a hefty $160 million budget. It should make that money back manyfold after ticket sales are tallied and new lines of princess wear are whipped up to satisfy new generations of Belle lovers. (rtr)

Almost half of Canadians want illegal border crossers deported - Reuters poll

WINNIPEG, Manitoba/OTTAWA - Nearly half of Canadians want to deport people who are illegally crossing into Canada from the United States, and a similar number disapprove of how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is handling the influx, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Monday. A significant minority, four out of 10 respondents, said the border crossers could make Canada “less safe,” underlining the potential political risk for Trudeau’s Liberal government. The increasing flow of hundreds of asylum-seekers of African and Middle Eastern origin from the United States in recent months has become a contentious issue in Canada. There has been broad bipartisan support for high levels of legal immigration for decades in Canada. But Trudeau has come under pressure over the flow of the illegal migrants. He is questioned about it every time he appears in parliament, from opponents on the left, who want more asylum-seekers to

be allowed in, and critics on the right, who say the migrants pose a potential security risk. Canadians appeared to be just as concerned about illegal immigration as their American neighbors, according to the poll, which was conducted between March 8-9. In the United States, where President Donald Trump was elected partly on his promise to boost deportations, 50 percent of adults supported “increasing the deportation of illegal immigrants,” according to a separate Reuters/Ipsos poll that was conducted during the same week in the United States. Illegal migrants interviewed by Reuters in Canada said they had been living legally in the United States and had applied for asylum there. But they had fled to Canada for fear of being caught up in Trump’s immigration crackdown. WARMING WEATHER POSES RISK In the poll, support for deporting the border crossers was strongest among men, adults who do not have a college degree, people who are older and those with higher levels of income. “There are so many people in the

world who want to come in and go through the right channels,” said Greg Janzen, elected leader of a Manitoba border municipality that has seen hundreds of border crossers. “That’s what’s pissing most people off. These guys are jumping the border,” he said. Forty-six percent of Canadians feel the influx would have no effect on safety, while 41 percent said it would make Canada less safe, according to the poll. “Refugees are much more welcomed when we have gone and selected them ourselves as a country, as opposed to refugees who have chosen us,” said Janet Dench, executive director of Canadian Council for Refugees. Of those polled, 46 percent disagreed with how Trudeau was handling the situation, 37 percent agreed, while 17 percent did not know. In January, a separate Ipsos poll found that 59 percent of Canadians approved of Trudeau, while

41 percent disapproved. Trudeau faces no immediate threat, since the next elections are not until 2019. Trudeau’s office declined to comment on the poll, as did the opposition Conservative Party. Brian Lee Crowley, head of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute public policy think-tank, said the number of illegal migrants could spike as the weather warms, and “if people become convinced there’s a large uncontrolled flow of illegal immigrants, I think that will be a very serious political issue for the government.” Canadian authorities dismiss the idea they are being lax. Investor plans to build cable car in geopark area

MANGUPURA — Who knows if the favorite chocolate in Germany and France originates from Bukit Gumbrih, Jembrana? Gede Ngurah Oka Perdana is one of the participants of the Interfood Exhibition held on March 1618, 2017 in Nusa Dua Convention Center. Participants of the largest food and beverage festival consist of prominent companies and have successfully become the market leader in the food industry in Indonesia. Due to such uniqueness, many young people do not want to pursue profession as a farmer, whereas they have been already given complete knowledge on economic calculation. The market of chocolate here especially in Bali is available. Horeca still uses compound chocolate that is no longer authentic. It is composed of many mixtures including chemical substance,” he continued. Oka Perdana also explained that he participated in the Interfood event to introduce to Horeca about the Bali original product whose flavor definitely exceeds the existing chocolate in the market in general. Oka Perdana said that currently he still peddles cacao en masse for the ingredient of pastry, baking and sauces. “Some people having got involved in this industry are willing to use our products. BANGLI — The Batur geopark area in Kintamani draws the interest of investors. This time, an investor who intends to invest is Bali FT. Initial assessment has been carried out with the government of Bangli. This foreign investor is planning to participate in the tourism development of Kintamani by building a cable car. Head of the Bangli Investment and Integrated Services, Made Alit Parwata, stated on Sunday (Mar. 19) that Bali FT already delivered the intention to make investment in Bangli recently. As a preliminary illustration presented, Bali FT plans to build a cable car in the caldera of Mount Batur with the start at the post of climbing tour guides association of Mount Batur (P3GB). However, Alit Parwata cannot explain in details about the length of the route. “It is just provided in short preview,” he explained. Alit Parwata said that in principle the government of Bangli very much welcomes the presence of investor who will build a cable car in the geopark area. He said that the investment will greatly help the tourism development in Kintamani. Existence of the cable car in the Batur Geopark is also believed to give a multiplier effect to the surrounding communities. However, he claimed to still conduct a study and prepare the regulations considering the land to be used for the investment mostly belongs to the forestry agency and BKSDA. On that account, his service must also make coordination with relevant stakeholders regarding the form of cooperation. In this process, the district government will also conduct outreach to local communities to anticipate the problems that may occur in the future. “Under the direction of the regent, we are asked to address this immediately. In the meantime, the investor hoped the agreement should have been accomplished by December 31,” he explained. When asked about previous the investors having conducted similar assessments without clear follow up, Alit Parwata said that there are obstacles causing investors to invest in Bangli to finally cancel. Actually Bali is categorized into agricultural area because approximately 70.74 percent of the existing land remains potential for agricultural and livestock activities. Based on the data from the Indonesian Farmers Association (HKTI) of Bali, the farmland areas in Bali are currently cultivated by 408,114 farmers. However, the area of paddy field harvest has steadily decreased from 153,228 hectares in 2000 to 80,000 hectares these days. “This has direct impact on the decline in rice production, but its productivity remains 5.5 tons per hectares. The average land ownership is about 0.35 hectare per family,” said Chairman of the HKTI Bali, Prof. Dr. Nyoman Suparta, in Denpasar on Sunday (Mar. 19). Suparta saw that paddy field conversion in particular into residential use has become so massive

in every region of this Island of the Gods. The land conversion occurs at the extent of 600 hectares to 1,000 hectares per year. When the land conversion had occurred, it is very difficult to restore them to the original condition. “We will attempt to increase the acreage of farmers’ land. Currently, the cultivated land only reaches 0.35 hectare per farmer family.

Nothing can be done and it will be difficult to increase farmers’ income. Therefore, we will strive so that it can be increased to one hectare per farmer family,” he explained. Even though the number of farmer family decreases, added Suparta, the increasing land will be able to improve farmers’ productivity and welfare. (kmb32)

LOS ANGELES — A SpaceX capsule is back on Earth with a full load of space station science samples. The Dragon cargo ship parachuted into the Pacific on Sunday off the Southern California coast. Astronauts set it free from the International Space Station 5½ hours earlier. The Dragon flew to the space station a month ago from the same Florida launch pad used for NASA’s Apollo moon shots. It took up more than 5,000 pounds of supplies and brought back just

as much in completed experiments and used equipment. NASA’s other supplier, Orbital ATK, plans to launch its own supply ship Friday, also from Cape Canaveral, Florida. That one, however, burns up on re-entry. The space station is home to one Frenchman, two Americans and three Russians. (ap)

CAIRO — A massive statue recently unearthed in Cairo and thought to depict one of the country’s most famous pharaohs may be of another ancient Egyptian ruler, the country’s antiquities minister said Thursday. Khaled el-Anani said the colossus discovered last week in a Cairo suburb by an Egyptian-German team almost certainly depicts Psamtek I, a little known pharaoh from the 26th dynasty who ruled Egypt between 664 and 610 B.C. “We are not going to be categorical, but there is a strong possibility that it’s of Psamtek I,” el-Anani told reporters in the front yard of the famed Egyptian museum in the heart of Cairo. Sitting just meters (yards) away were parts of the statue, including the torso and a partial head, which were ferried across the city before dawn on Thursday. The statue was thought to be of Ramses II, who ruled Egypt more than 3,000 years ago. “There is a possibility, albeit small, that Psamtek I reused an older statue that may be of Ramses II,” el-Anani said. Psamtek I, credited for bringing stability to Egypt after years of turmoil, ruled some 600 years after Ramses II and sat on Egypt’s throne for about 50 years. Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great, ruled for around 60 years. The discovery of the quartzite statue has offered a piece of welcome

news at a time when most of Egypt’s 92 million people are struggling to make ends meet amid an economic crisis. The tourism industry has yet to recover from the years of unrest following the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak. Egyptian officials appeared keen to bring international attention to the find. The press conference called to clarify the statue’s identity was held at the Egyptian museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of pharaonic artifacts, and was attended by senior government officials and diplomats. El-Anani allowed the anticipation to build, delivering his remarks after four archaeologists and restoration experts spoke. He said the size of the statue — with an estimated height of some 9 meters (26 feet) and a weight of seven tons — was typical of Ramses II’s era, but that hieroglyphs discovered at the statue’s back-pillar after it was unearthed showed that it was of Psamtek I. “We will not be 100 percent certain that it is of Psamtek I, but give us days, weeks or months and we will be certain,” he said. For now, said the Egyptian museum’s chief of restoration, Moamen Othman, the challenge is to prepare the statue to survive in an environment different from the one in which it was submerged: Water and mud. BANGKOK - A 25-year-old sea turtle in Thailand slipped into a coma on Sunday after an operation to remove 915 coins from her stomach earlier this month. The green sea turtle named Omsin, “piggy bank” in Thai, had been finding it hard to swim normally after swallowing 5 kg (11

lb) of coins thrown into her pool for good luck. Omsin underwent a seven-hourlong operation earlier this month, but concerns rose among Thais after she was rushed to an intensive care unit on Sunday night. “She is in a coma and breathes very slowly,” one of the veterinar-

ians taking care of Omsin told Reuters. “There’s a chance of survival if she can make it through tonight.” Nantarika Chansue, of Chulalongkorn University’s veterinary science faculty, urged people to pray for Omsin in a Facebook post on Monday. (rtr)

Although being paralyzed since his birth, this young man from Tengah hamlet, Manduang, keeps painting puppet of Kamasan style. Moreover, the puppet paintings he created have been sent abroad and used as postcards by Swiss travelers. To note, Gusti Lanang Agung has a physical disability since his birth. He is the second child of six siblings. Two of his brothers already died, while the youngest brother, Gusti Ngurah Putra Paramana, 9, also experiences the same condition. His younger brother is paralyzed since entering the age of one year. Only two sisters, namely Gusti Ayu Nadia, 13, in the first grade of junior high school, and Gusti Ayu Putri Setiawati, in the fourth grade of elementary school, are normal. His parents, Gusti Ngurah Purwana and Dewa Ayu Adiani, initially did not suspect if Gusti Lanang Agung will have a physical disability. When he was eight months, he could crawl like a normal baby. But after entering the age of one year, his condition continued to decline and could not walk. “My son (Gusti Lanang—Ed) only went to kindergarten. He actually wanted to continue his school but was banned by school because of his condition. At the disabled school, he was often beaten and mocked by his classmates at kindergarten,” said his mother, Dewa Ayu Adiani. Being compassionate with his condition, his parents then bought him books and laptop to study at home. Gusti Lanang is a clever child. He studies autodidactically at home with the help of his parents. Painting puppet of Kamasan style is also carried out by self-taught just by looking at the image samples. There are dozens of Kamasan puppet painting he has created. Unfortunately, when entering the age of 14 years, his condition began to become paralyzed. So, he can no longer work. However, due to his vivacity to still paint, Gusti Lanang then channeled his hobby in painting puppet of Kamasan style through laptop. By simply relying on his thumb and sitting in a wheelchair, he makes a puppet painting by using his laptop. Admittedly, to make a painting by using a laptop is faster than manual painting that only takes him a month. While manual painting will take him up to three months. “The problem only lies in the touchpad of laptop because it can move on its own,” said Gusti Lanang. Meanwhile, his expertise of painting puppet of Kamasan style gets the attention of the Regent of Klungkung, I Nyoman Suwirta. The regent had time to visit Gusti Lanang at his home and saw in person the result of his work. Seeing the skill of Gusti Lanang to paint by using a laptop, Regent Suwirta planned to invite and involve him in an exhibition to show off his work. Thus, his work can be known by wider communities. “While showing off his work, Gusti Lanang can directly make demonstration in the exhibition,” said Regent Suwirta. (wia)

BANGLI - So far, the government of Bangli has not received the distribution of hotel and restaurant tax (PHR) from Badung district. If the distribution has been given, the district government hopes to be given larger portions than other districts for tourism development in the region. This was expressed by the Head of the Bangli Finance, Revenue and Regional Asset Agency, I Gede Suryawan, on Friday (Mar 17). Suryawan said that so far Bangli has not received the distribution of the PHR from Badung government. He did not dare to ascertain the exact amount of it to be distributed by Badung to Bangli district. “Indeed, we have not received the distribution of the tax revenue from Badung district. We are still waiting for it from the Badung district. After being transferred, there

ANKARA - Turkish authorities detained more than 2,000 people over the last week for suspected links to militant groups or last year’s failed coup attempt, the interior ministry said on Monday. has condemned the coup. Seventy people were detained over alleged links to Islamic State, while 28 more were held for suspected ties to “leftist terrorist groups”, the ministry said. North Korean state media announced its latest rocket-engine test on Sunday, saying it would help North Korea achieve world-class satellite-launch capability, indicating a new type of rocket engine for an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The test showed “meaningful” progress, a spokesman for South Korea’s Defence Ministry said on Monday, with the firing of a main engine and four auxiliary engines as part of the development of a new rocket booster. The announcement of the test came as U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was in Beijing at the end of his first visit to Asia for talks dominated by concern about North Korea’s nuclear and missile programmes. “Through this test, it is found that engine function has made meaningful progress but further analysis is needed for exact thrust and possible uses,” Lee Jin-woo, the spokesman for the South Korean defence ministry, told a briefing. North Korea’s state media released pictures of the high-thrust engine test overseen by leader Kim Jong Un, and reported him hailing it as “a new birth” of its rocket industry. A South Korean expert on rocket engineering said the test was ominous. “This was a comprehensive test for the first-stage rocket for an ICBM, and that is why it was dangerous,” Kim Dong-yub of the Institute for Far Eastern Studies in Seoul told Reuters. “It appears that North Korea has worked out much of its development of the first-stage rocket booster.” But Kim said the North had still not mastered the atmospheric re-entry technology needed for an ICBM, so it had work to do before being able to hit the United States. With the prospect of losing easy access to Spain and the wider EU market, Gibraltar’s government says the territory is rebranding itself as a gateway for the U.K. and new markets in northern Africa just across the strait. “It’s unfortunate. A sprawling archipelago with more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia is home to an estimated 50 to 70 million indigenous people, but many do not have formal title to the land their families have lived on for generations.

Homelands under threat, Indonesian tribes rally for land rights

LONDON - Prime Minister Theresa May will visit Wales on Monday as part of a plan to engage with all the nations of the United Kingdom before she formally launches Britain’s departure from the European Union. May is due to trigger Article 50 of the EU’s Lisbon Treaty, beginning two years of formal divorce talks, by the end of this month, and her office said she would be visiting Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to hear people’s views. Last year’s Brexit referendum exposed splits that could threaten the unity of the UK, with Scotland and Northern Ireland delivering pro-EU majorities but finding themselves outvoted by the English and Welsh, who were in favour of leaving the bloc. In a sharp challenge to May, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said last week she would be pushing for a fresh independence vote after having been met by “a brick wall of intransigence” in London when seeking for Scotland to have its own Brexit deal. May rebuffed that, saying now was not the right time. Northern Ireland’s largest Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein has also said it wants a referendum on splitting from the United Kingdom “as soon as possible” to unite with the Republic of Ireland. On Monday May and Brexit minister David Davis will meet with Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones and business representatives to discuss how Wales can make the most of opportunities offered by Brexit, her office said. NEW YORK - Norway displaced Denmark as the world’s happiest country in a new report released on Monday that called on nations to build social trust and equality to improve the wellbeing of their citizens. The Nordic nations are the most content, according to the World Happiness Report 2017 produced by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a global initiative launched by the United Nations in 2012. Countries in sub-Saharan Africa, along with Syria and Yemen, are the least happy of the 155 countries ranked in the fifth annual report released at the United Nations. “Happy countries are the ones that have a healthy balance of prosperity, as conventionally measured, and social capital, meaning a high degree of trust in a society, low inequality and confidence in government,” Jeffrey Sachs, the director of the SDSN and a special advisor to the United Nations SecretaryGeneral, said in an interview. The aim of the report, he add-

ed, is to provide another tool for governments, business and civil society to help their countries find a better way to wellbeing. Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden rounded out the top ten countries. South Sudan, Liberia, Guinea, Togo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Central African Republic were at the bottom. Germany was ranked 16, followed by the United Kingdom (19) and France (31). The United States dropped one spot to 14. Sachs said the United States is falling in the ranking due to inequality, distrust and corruption. Economic measures that the administration of President Donald Trump is trying to pursue, he added, will make things worse. “They are all aimed at increasing inequality – tax cuts at

the top, throwing people off the healthcare rolls, cutting Meals on Wheels in order to raise military spending. I think everything that has been proposed goes in the wrong direction,” he explained. The rankings are based on six factors -- per capita gross domestic product, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, social support and absence of corruption in government or business. “The lowest countries are typically marked by low values in all six variables,” said the report, produced with the support of the Ernesto Illy Foundation. Sachs would like nations to follow United Arab Emirates and other countries that have appointed Ministers of Happiness. “I want governments to measure this, discuss it, analyze it and understand when they have been off on the wrong direction,” he said. Scavenger arrested for allegedly molesting 16 children

YOGYAKARTA - A 29-yearold scavenger has been arrested for allegedly molesting at least 16 children in Karanganyar regency, Central Java. Karanganyar Police chief Adj. Comr. Ade Safri Simanjuntak said on Monday that the man, whose name is Fajar, admitted to having abused and sodomized the children, aged from 8 to 10, between 2003 and 2016. “So, some of the victims are now adults,” Ade said, adding that

Fajar was arrested at his house in Ngawoh, Tegalgede subdistrict, on Monday. The police said the arrest was triggered by one of the victims telling his teacher that he was once sodomized by Fajar. “The teacher reported it to the pupil’s parents, and the latter reported it to the police,” said Ade. The scavenger admitted to having offered the victims between Rp 5,000 (37 US cents) to Rp 10,000 or books and shoes. He then raped the

boys at a local mosque, Ade said. A medical examination of two victims confirmed the sexual abuse, Ade said, adding that the police had identified five victims, one of whom was sodomized more than once. “The victim was afraid to report the incident [to the police] because he felt threatened. “We will approach the families [of the rest of the victims] as some parents do not yet know that their children have been the victims of sodomy.”(ant)

NUSA TENGGARA - West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) plans to build a deer sanctuary this year to reverse the decline in the deer population. NTB Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) head Widada said on Monday that the planned 1.5-hectare sanctuary for the animal, which is the mascot of West Nusa Tenggara, will be located in Gunung Tunak Nature Park in Central Lombok.

“We will place 20 to 30 deer within the sanctuary,” Widada said, adding that the deer population in the province was no more than 2,000, scattered around Mount Rinjani, Mount Tambora, Moyo Island, the protected forests in Lombok and Sumbawa, and in breeding centers. In 2005, the deer population reached 6,000 in Lombok and Sumbawa, he added. Illegal hunting, climate change

and habitat destruction were the reasons behind the decreasing number, said Widada. The BKSDA coordinator for forest ecosystem control, Tri Endang, said the ecosystem of the deer sanctuary would be made similar to that of their natural habitat. “Hopefully they will breed well within the sanctuary,” said Tri, adding that the deer reproduction cycle was one year.(ant)

Hamilton’s F1 title bid might prove harder without Rosberg

PARIS — Lewis Hamilton’s bid to regain his Formula One title might actually prove harder without Nico Rosberg around. Rosberg retired days after becoming the 2016 world champion and finally getting the better of Hamilton, ending their acrimonious rivalry at Mercedes just as he got the upper hand. With Rosberg gone, a key factor this season — starting Sunday with the Australian Grand Prix — will be how three-time champion Hamilton gets on with his new teammate. Valtteri Bottas was plucked from Williams after Rosberg’s shock announcement. The calm Finnish driver is seen as the perfect foil for the tempestuous Hamilton, an outspoken driver not afraid to stand up to management. A perfect match in theory, perhaps not in reality. Hamilton and Rosberg had a tense relationship and openly feuded at times, forcing Mercedes management to intervene. Crucially, however, the quick and consistent Rosberg also brought the best out of Hamilton — forcing him to up his pace in qualifying and on race day. Even though he lost the title, at times last year Hamilton’s driving was the best of his career. Some credit for that must also go to Rosberg’s relentless competitiveness. Rosberg quit F1 with 23 wins, but the 27-year-old Bottas has never won a race at this level. He has only nine career podiums and never finished higher than fourth in the championship. If he does not challenge Hamilton in the same way that Rosberg did, then Hamilton’s level might drop. Having conceded a 152-run first innings lead, the tourists were reeling when skipper Steve Smith departed, leaving his team at 63-4 with more than two sessions to go and the hosts confident of a win. But Handscomb and Marsh battled on through the entire second session to first erase the deficit and then ensure Australia were safe by

City’s players, Guardiola revealed, had been moping around the training ground — “they were so, so sad” — since the team’s Champions League elimination by Monaco on Wednesday, and were now facing a direct rival for the top four that specializes in winning heavyweight Premier League games. When Liverpool took the lead through James Milner’s penalty in the 51st minute, City’s resolve was tested again. That his players managed to come out of the game with a point, through Sergio Aguero’s 69th-minute goal, gave Guardiola a special feeling. “It is one of the days I am proud of the most,” an animated Guardiola said. In the first half alone, there was Nicolas Otamendi’s pull on Sadio Mane as the Liverpool forward ran clean on goal, Milner’s clip on the ankle of Raheem Sterling as the City winger looked set for a tap-in, and Ragnar Klavan’s apparent tug on Aguero in the same move. All three were 50-50 calls and not given but City defender Gael Clichy’s foul on Roberto Firmino was clear, with the left back having previously lost his man by slipping over. Milner, a former City player who had been jeered by sections of the home crowd in the first half, sent Willy Caballero the wrong way from the spot for his seventh successful penalty of the season. City’s equalizer was slickly executed, with Kevin De Bruyne delivering a teasing low cross from the right that Aguero tucked home from just outside the six-yard box. Aguero has scored in all five homes games against Liverpool in the Premier League. In an end-to-end final 20 minutes, De Bruyne struck a shot

against the post, Adam Lallana kicked fresh air from close range with the goal at his mercy, and Sterling missed a one-on-one chance. Possibly the best opportunity fell to Aguero in injury time, but he volleyed over from close range. A draw was probably a fair result in the end, keeping the teams in the last two Champions League qualifying places. Chelsea is seemingly running away with the title, so the objective for City and Liverpool is to finish in the top four. Liverpool kept up its excellent record against its rivals in the top six this season, with Klopp’s team winning five and drawing five from 10 games. How the Reds regret slipping up so often against the league’s lowerplaced side. “There is one outstanding, consistent side this year and they will be champions probably,” Klopp said. “The rest fight with all they have for the Champions League.” Fourthplaced Liverpool is four points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United, having played two games more. Unstoppable Mbappe scores twice in Monaco’s 3-0 win PARIS — Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe was so good that even Caen supporters treated the rising star of French football to an ovation when he left the pitch. The teenage striker tormented their team throughout the afternoon, posting yet another remarkable performance in the French league.
