Regarding the system of the mediation, he said that it has been agreed by both side. Pastika was also giving comment on the trial. He stated that he cannot say anything about the process. “I cannot state anything except about press freedom,” he said. The United States is withdrawing 10,000 troops this year, leaving 91,000 on the ground into next year. Another 23,000 are due to leave by the end of September. That will mark the end of the “surge” ordered by President Barack Obama in late 2009 in a bid to reverse the Taliban insurgency, defeat Al-Qaeda and speed up an end to the war, with some 68,000 US forces left on the ground. “We are negotiating with the United States towards an enduring
partnership,” Karzai said on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS.” “That may bring about the presence of some US troops in Afghanistan for the duration of the agreement that we reach, with support to Afghanistan, with training and equipping the Afghan forces.” But he cautioned that troop levels would depend on the specifics of any agreement reached. Balinese Temple Ceremony EVERY Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

BAGHDAD — Even as Iraqis celebrated the departure of the last American troops Sunday, the dangers left behind after nearly nine years of war were on full display. Politicians feuded along the country’s potentially explosive sectarian lines and the drumbeat of deadly violence went on. The last U.S. convoy rumbled out of Iraq across the border into Kuwait around sunrise under a shroud of secrecy to prevent attacks on the departing troops. When news reached a waking Iraqi public, there was joy at the end of a presence that many Iraqis resented as a foreign occupation. In the northern city of Mosul, pastry shop owner Muhannad Adnan said he had a swell of orders for cakes — up to 110 from the usual 70 or so a day — as families threw parties at home. Some asked him to ice the cakes with inscriptions of “congratulations for the end of occupation,� he said.But the happiness was shot through with worries over the future. “Nobody here wants occupation. This withdrawal marks a new stage in Iraq’s history,� said Karim al-Rubaie, a Shiite shopowner in the southern city of Basra. But, he said, “the politicians who are running this country are just a group of thieves.� “These politicians will lead the country into sedition and civil

PALU - A low explosive bomb is found in a traditional market in Palu Selatan subdistrict on Monday morning, the province`s Chief of Mobile Brigade Unit Ahmad Subarkah said here on Monday. “It is an assembled bomb with low explosives,â€? he said adding that the bomb was found by the local people around 05.30 in the morning in front of a traditional market with specialty of selling pork meat. The market itself was located near three churches in the area, Ahmad said. According to information, the market had been hit by bomb earlier in 2005 causing eight casualties and injuring tens of people. Meanwhile, Chief of Palu city`s Police Precinct OfďŹ ce Ahmad Ramadhan said the characteristic of the recently found bomb was similar to the pipe-bomb that was found in Poso district sometime ago. He said the police was still gathering information about the actors behind the bomb terror.

Loving U dersea Nature through photography There are two things to consider in ta ing undersea pictures. irstly, it is related to the time limit in diving, and then the ob ects must be willing to move closer to the photographer. These matters were conveyed by eith Ellenbogen, a lecturer of photography in The ew School for Design, ew or ity, in the International Undersea or shop held in the Indonesia Institute of Arts ISI Denpasar recently. In the one-day workshop held in the Latta Mahosadi Building of ISI Denpasar, Keith explained the GLI¿FXOWLHV DQG FKDOOHQJHV IDFHG in taking the undersea pictures. On that account, Keith who is also a photographer presented various images he had taken from various parts of the world, both Southeast Asia and part of other continents. Such a workshop was unique enough because it offered the integration of marine conservation and artistic color or patterned textures derived from nature. It
was intentionally highlighted in order to become a learning opportunity for students majoring in photography, especially that of ISI Denpasar, where students could learn about photography from the expert who was working in the field. In addition, the workshop was also very good for communicating the environmental issues to students through visual narratives-based conservation. Rector of ISI Denpasar, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Rai S, highly appreciated the implementation of
the workshop as an attempt to make the photography courses go international. Meanwhile, the Head of Photography Study Program, I Komang Arba Wirawan, hoped the workshop could give lessons to love the natural environment through the undersea photography. INGREDIENTS: 4 sml lobsters, weighing about 500 gr each or 1 kg large prawns 5 cups water 2 lemongrass, bruised 2 fragrant lime leaves 4 cups coconut milk few drops white vinegar fried shallots to garnish SPICE PASTE: 5 red chilies, seeded and chopped 3 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped 7 shallots, peeled and chopped 5 cm fresh turmeric, peeled and chopped 5 cm ginger, peeled and chopped 4 candlenuts 1 ½ tsp coriander ½ tsp dried shrimp paste toasted 1 sml tomato, peeled and seeded 2 tbsp oil 1 ½ tbsp tamarind pulp 1 salam leaf 1 lemon grass, bruised PREPARATION: Prepare spice paste by grinding or blending all ingredients except oil, tamarind, salam leaf and lemongrass. Heat oil, add spice paste and all other ingredients. Cook over moderate heat for about 5 minutes, then cool. Wash lobsters and leave whole. Bring water to the boil, add lobsters and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove lobsters, plunge in iced water for 1 minutes, then drain and remove meat. Return shells to the pot of water, keeping lobster meat aside. Add spice paste, lemongrass, lime leaves and vinegar to the water with the shells and simmer until 4 cups of stock remain. Add coconut milk and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain stock and return to pan. Add lobster and simmer for 1 minute. Serve garnished with fried shallots and accompanied by white rice. Helpful hints: if using prawns instead of lobster, peel the raw prawns and put prawns shells 4 cups of water. On August 24, scientists witnessed the spectacular eruption of light and energy thrown off by the birth of SN 2011fe, the brightest and -- at a mere 20.9 million light years away -- closest-to-Earth supernova in over 25 years. One light year is the distance that light travels in 365 Earth days, about 9.46 trillion kilometres or 5.87 trillion miles. “We caught the supernova just 11 hours after it exploded, so soon that we were later able to calculate the actual moment of the explosion within 20 minutes,” said Peter Nugent of the US Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and lead

Silverstone’s ‘masterplan’ gets planning approval SILVERSTONE has received planning permission for its ‘masterplan’, the latest stage in its major revamp programme. Recent years have seen the track layout heavily revised, and a new pit and paddock complex constructed between Club and Abbey, where the start/finish straight is now located. The masterplan stage will see the addition of a new business park, technology park, education campus, three hotels, plus new spectator and leisure facilities. Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Holdings Ltd, hailed the planning
