WASHINGTON - Australian actor and “Thor” avenger Chris Hemsworth is the world’s sexiest man, the US magazine People said Thursday. The honor was announced on the late night US TV show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on ABC and in the magazine itself. With his face at first masked and his voice digitally modified, Hemsworth, 31, speaking from Australia, toyed with playful yes-or-no questions from the American TV audience. Kimmel’s instructions and teasers to his crowd: “If you guess correctly, the sexiest man alive will make love to you, so this is big. I will give you three clues. He is sexy, he is a man, he is alive.” Is he in a band? No. Over age 35? Wrong, again. “Are you hairy?” a bearded, balding man in the audience asked, smiling. “Just up here,” the still un-
known masked person asked, gesturing to his head. Fast forward: the audience zeroed in on the guy as a nonAmerican, buffed dude who is an actor that has played a superhero in the movies, wielding a hammer: Thor in the Marvel Studios superhero movies? Bingo! Hemsworth’s award was a small facial mirror. “Anything you would like to say to the men who lost, specifically Matt Damon?” Kimmel asked, referring to the popular American actor. “I like everything there is about being sexy, to pursing the lips the right way to squinting at the essential time. Thank you, Matt, and all the other previous intelligent men. This is based on
an IQ test, not just the physical appearance,” the actor said. Asked if there was anyone he wanted to thank, Hemsworth said, “my parents, I guess, for putting this together.” In this week’s People cover story, Hemsworth told People he thought it was “pretty funny” when he first heard word of his new status. He is married to Spanish actress Elsa Pataky and they have three children. “I think you’ve bought me a couple of weeks of bragging rights around the house,” he told the magazine. “I can just say to her, ‘Now, remember, this is what people think, so I don’t need to do the dishes anymore, I don’t need to change nappies. LOSANGELES -Arnold Schwarzenegger famously made it big in Hollywood from humble -- and foreign -- beginnings. But he was hardly the first newcomer to strike gold in Tinseltown. From Charlie Chaplin’s 1917 film “The Immigrant” to 1990’s hit “Green Card” and 2011’s “A Better Life,” the story of Tinseltown has long been a tale of immigrants, whose lives are reflected back on screen. Be it Jews arriving from -- or often fleeing -- eastern Europe, the Italians and Irish bringing their distinctive styles, or British actors landing plum roles in the latest blockbusters, the path is well trodden. “Beyond the Jewish emigres, (the entertainment business) has benefited from all of America’s great immigrant tribes,” Tom Nunan, a film producer who teaches at the University of California, Los Angeles told AFP. These included “the black Irish humor, the Italian operas, the dance traditions of South America and Spain .. All influenced first Broadway, then our film and TV traditions,” he told AFP. The list of foreign actors drawn by Hollywood’s bright lights is like a Who’s Who of Golden Age showbiz: Audrey Hepburn (British/Dutch), Cary Grant (English), Sophia Loren (Italian) or Zsa Zsa Gabor (Hungarian). The link between immigrants and Hollywood goes all the way back to Tinseltown’s founding in the early years of the 20th century. As waves of newcomers arrived, the early silent movies were the perfect entertainment for masses who didn’t speak the language, and had just enough spare change for the cheap seats. The original Hollywood moguls were all Jews from central or eastern Europe. Universal was founded by Germany’s Carl Laemmle; Hungarians Adolph Zukor and William Fox started Paramount and Fox Film Corporation; Russian Louis B Mayer launched Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, while the Warner Brothers hailed from Poland. DENPASAR - The price hike of diesel fuel and gasoline is surely followed by some new problems. They include the rising price of basic necessities and declining purchasing power of the lower middle class. Even, it ultimately affected the increase in the poverty rate. MANGUPURA - The ratio of traffic density in South Badung faces critical condition. It happens due to high growth in vehicle that is not comparable to the road network. On average, the visit ratio of road in South Badung reaches 0.8 percent alias it has already approached the threshold of congestion. The Head of the Badung Transportation, Communications and Informatics Agency, Wayan Weda Dharmaja, said the crowded traffic and even congestion in South Badung was difficult to avoid. Imbalanced growth of vehicle to the road network was one of the main factors. “Road network with the growth of vehicle in South Badung has the ratio of 0.2 percent to about 12 percent, so that the road capacity may not be able to accommodate the vehicles,” he said. To add to the road network in South Badung was difficult to realize. This former Spokesperson of Badung government mentioned that it was required extensive land, while the price of land in South Badung had been so
expensive. “Thus, we now need a traffic management. We’d like to focus on the traffic engineering management so that congestion can be minimized,” he said. Traffic engineering management in South Badung was handled by the technical unit of South Badung. A total of 70 officers divided into 4 working shifts were alerted to regulate the traffic for 24 hours. In addition, his party also utilized the technology known as the area traffic controller system (ATCS) which was under construction at the six intersections being prone to congestion in South Badung. Installation of the system was worth about IDR 4 billion. Similar project would also be continued in 2015. As planned, the ATCS would be installed at the nine other intersections in Badung with the budget allocation worth IDR 7 billion. What about another measure such as the application of the 3 in 1? According to Weda, it was just simply a discourse and still needed an in-depth review. “In principle, we are trying to think of a comprehensive solution, not just a partial solution,” he said. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

Researchers who led the new study of nearly 800 gay brothers say their results bolster previous evidence pointing to genes on the X chromosome. They also found evidence of influence from a gene or genes on a different chromosome. But the study doesn’t identify which of hundreds of genes located in either place might be involved. Smaller studies seeking genetic links to homosexuality have had mixed results. The study authors note that animal research suggests a gene located in one region of chromosome X may contribute to some sexual behavior; it’s one of the same regions cited in the new study. Specific causes of homosexuality are unknown. Some scientists think social, cultural, family and biological factors are involved, while some religious groups consider it an immoral choice. Study participant Dr. Chad Zawitz, a Chicago physician, called the research “a giant step forward” toward answering scientific questions about homosexuality and helping reduce the stigma gays often face. Being gay “is sort of like having certain eye color or skin color — it’s just who you are,” Zawitz said. “Most heterosexuals I know didn’t choose to be heterosexual. It used to be routine to give people at high risk for this problem a single antibiotic pill just before dental work, but concerns about overuse of antibiotics led British regulators to end this practice in 2008. The entire public transport in Indonesia, including Bali, will not be operating, Wednesday (Nov 19) starting at 00:00 a.m. during the day. It meant is to remind the government where public transport belongs to its responsibility,” said Chairman of the Organda Bali, Ketut Edy Dharma Putra, as confirmed on Tuesday (Nov 18). According to him, the Organda had taken a stance after the president decided to increase the subsidized fuel price. His party asked in order the government could grant a subsidy for public transport. Currently, the number of public transport in Indonesia only remained seven percent, while the rest was private vehicle. “Naturally, the government must pay attention to the public transport. Moreover, under the Law No. 22 Article 185, it is mandated that government has the responsibility
for the survival of public transport,” he said. So far, he said, the central government had yet issued a decision regarding the proposal of the Organda in order to provide subsidies for public transport. “All this time, there is no an indication, whether the subsidy will be approved or not, so that we try to remind the government by stopping our operation,” he said. He described the fuel price hike would increase the tariff. Meanwhile, the public transportation was no longer demanded by people. Thus, when a tariff increase would be made for public transport, this transportation mode would be sluggish. “The fuel price hike has an impact on tariff. High tariff would affect purchasing power. High tariff will not be affordable to many people, so that the public transport will be no longer demanded and this accelerates the entrepreneurs to go out of business,” he explained. He hoped the government could more sensitive to take a stance, so that the public transport entrepreneurs could get the attention. “It is only seven percent, while Bali only has 2 percent. Ultimately, the public transport, rural transport and inter-provincial city transport will go bankrupt,” he said. Related to the non-economic transport, namely the tourism transport and car rental, it would
be made a new tariff scheme to suit their market share. “For non-economic vehicles, it will be drafted, while the tariff increase for tourist transport and car rental will be calculated by stakeholders. Perhaps, they will increase in appropriate with the market share,” he said. Regarding the strike plan on Wednesday, Edy Putra Dharma had informed the chairman of Organda throughout Bali. As had been known, the number of vehicles in Bali continuously increased. It also kindled traffic congestion, especially in the city of Denpasar and surrounding areas. The data of the Bali Revenue Service (Dispenda) per December 31, 2013 indicated if the number of vehicle reached 3,037,665 units. Meanwhile, the number in the year 2014 had not been updated, so that it would surely increase. Earlier this month an association of private schools in Pakistan held an “I am not Malala” day, condemning the young Nobel laureate for what it called her support for controversial novelist Salman Rushdie. Tuseday’s event was organised by the Rahid Shaheed Foundation, a charity organisation founded after the only son of former provincial information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain was gunned down by militants. The rate increase agreement was proposed by the Group Head of Catur Karya Bakti Segara, Lovina, Putu Budista, Tuesday (Nov 18). A number of fishermen who regularly delivered guests to see dolphins agreed to raise the rate. Nevertheless, not all fishermen enforced the same rate. Around Lovina Beach, there are five fisherman groups. “Responding to the fuel price hike, we are planning to raise our rate. CANBERRA - President Francois Hollande on Wednesday confirmed that two Frenchmen had been identified as suspects in an Islamic State video showing the beheading of Syrian prisoners, while slamming “brainwashing” of the young. The men are seen in the brutal clip released by the IS group on Sunday which features the killing of 18 Syrian prisoners and a US aid worker. “All we can say for now is that there were two French people,” Hollande told a press conference in Canberra alongside Australian leader Tony Abbott. “One has been categorically identified and the other one is in the process of being identified.” French prosecutors have confirmed the first was 22-year-old Maxime Hauchard from Normandy in northern France but the identity of what they said was a possible second Frenchman was not given. Hollande said it was not clear exactly what role the men played in the beheadings and that “the judicial system will have to establish this”.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said in Paris that Hauchard left for Syria “in August 2013 after a stay in Mauritania in 2012”, after reportedly becoming radicalised online. Around 1,000 French nationals are thought to have taken part in the conflict in Syria and Iraq, with 375 currently there, the government has said. At least 36 have died. TOKYO - The Bank of Japan on Wednesday held on to its upbeat view that Japan’s economy was recovering, despite GDP data that showed the country had unexpectedly slipped into recession, forcing a snap election. Wrapping up a two-day policy meeting, the central bank kept policy unchanged -- after expanding its already huge stimulus package last month -- as investors eye BoJ governor Haruhiko Kuroda’s press briefing later in the day. Markets want to see what Kuroda says about the government’s decision to delay a sales tax rise next year, after a levy hike in April slammed the brakes on growth just as the deflation-plagued economy appeared to be turning a corner. The BoJ chief -- who was hand picked by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe -- has repeatedly called on Tokyo to follow through on tax rises, which are aimed at generating fresh revenue to pay down Japan’s enormous national debt. “With regard to the outlook, Japan’s economy is expected to continue its moderate recovery trend, and the effects including those of the subsequent decline in demand following the front-loaded increase prior to the consumption tax hike are expected to dissipate gradually,” the BoJ said in a statement. Despite its bullish view on the overall economy, the bank was more cautious on inflation expectations, saying that they “appear to be rising on the whole from a somewhat longerterm perspective”. “The tone of the statement turned
more optimistic with regards to the economic outlook. While board members noted that some weakness on the production side remained, they upgraded their views on exports, housing investment and private consumption,” said Marcel Thieliant from Capital Economics. “However, the BoJ now expects inflation to remain at current levels of 1.0 percent for the time being, rather than to pick up as in previous statements.” Thieliant added that “the statement suggests additional stimulus in the near-term is not on the cards”. In forex markets, the yen weakened further with the dollar at a seven-year high of 117.30 yen after the announcement, up from 116.83 yen in New York. The BoJ’s decision means it will keep trying to pump cash into the banking system at an annual pace of 80 trillion yen ($682 billion), a scheme designed to stimulate the economy. Last month, the bank surprised markets by ramping up its vast monetary easing programme by as much as 20 trillion yen annually to the current level. It also slashed its economic growth forecast by half and trimmed consumer price expectations as a much-touted 2.0 percent inflation target looked increasingly out of reach.

TOKYO - A 67-year-old millionairess was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of poisoning her husband with cyanide as it emerged six former partners had already died, in Japan’s latest apparent “black widow” case. Chisako Kakehi has been the beneficiary of a combined 800 million yen ($6.8 million) over the last two decades, Jiji Press said -- insurance money and other assets she received after the seven men’s deaths. Husband number four Isao Kakehi fell sick suddenly at home and was confirmed dead at a hospital in December last year, less than two months after the couple married. An autopsy found highly toxic cyanide compounds in his blood. That came after the September death of a 75-year-old boyfriend,
who fell suddenly ill after the couple ate together at a restaurant, Jiji said. Kakehi’s dalliance with death began in 1994 when her first husband passed away at the age of 54. In 2006 her second husband, whom she had met through a dating agency, died of a stroke aged 69, while the third marriage ended in 2008 with the death of her 75-year-old partner, Jiji said. A boyfriend, believed to have been suffering from some form of cancer, died a year later, and in 2012 her then-fiance met his
fate after collapsing while riding a motorbike. Traces of cyanide were detected in his body, media reports said. Kakehi was arrested Wednesday by police in Kyoto on suspicion of murdering her latest husband. JAKARTA - Indonesia’s central bank raised interest rates Tuesday for the first time in a year in anticipation of surging inflation after the new government increased the price of subsidised fuel by over 30 percent. At a special meeting called following the price increase, Bank Indonesia raised its key rate by 25 basis points to 7.75 percent, the first rise since November last year and its highest level for more than five years. President Joko Widodo announced the reduction in government fuel subsidies late Monday, his first major move to strengthen the economy since taking office last month. The government estimates the fuel price rise will lead to about $8 billion of savings in next year’s budget, money that Widodo plans to divert to overhauling infrastructure and funding policies to help the poorest. But inflation is expected to jump sharply in the coming weeks as the fuel price rise pushes up the cost of transporting goods, and the central bank’s move was aimed at keeping it in check. “Even though there will be a price increase in the short term, Bank Indo-
nesia... is sure that inflation pressure will remain under control and will be temporary,” bank governor Agus Martowardojo said after the more than seven-hour meeting. The bank forecast that inflation will increase to between 7.7 and 8.1 percent by the end of the year. It stood at 4.83 percent year-on-year in October. Despite some concerns that a rate hike could further slow growth, which sank to a five-year low in the third quarter, the bank said it remained confident that its target of 5.1 percent this year would still be achieved. Economists have welcomed the fuel price increase, with Wellian Wiranto, from OCBC Bank in Singapore, saying the cash spent on subsidies “can now be used to build schools for the young and hospitals for the old, rather than being burned in engines of cars idling in traffic jams”. In the meantime, political analyst Komaruddin Hidayat affirmed that the decision to hike the prices of subsidized fuels can garner public support if the government gives assurance that it will divert the funds to productive sectors transparently. “The process (of diverting the funds) must be carried out transparently and be implemented with the set parameters. TOKYO — Baseball and softball’s bid to return to the Olympic program got a boost Wednesday as organizers of the 2020 Tokyo Games considered ways the International Olympic Committee’s reform agenda could impact planning for the event. Wrapping up the second day of meetings in the Japanese capital, IOC Vice President John Coates and Olympic organizing chief Yoshiro Mori spoke on how the 40 proposals released Tuesday as part of IOC President Thomas Bach’s reform agenda could affect planning for Tokyo 2020. The proposals would allow host cities to propose the inclusion of one or more events for their games — a move which would clear the way for baseball and softball to be included in the 2020 Games. Baseball and softball appeared in the Olympics from 1992 to 2008, but IOC members voted to drop them from the program after the Beijing Games — the first sports to be excluded since polo in 1936. The sports were eventually replaced by golf and rugby sevens, both of which will join the program at the 2016 Rio Olympics. “In the case of Japan, including baseball and softball would be a great idea,” Mori said at a news conference on Wednesday. “The two sports are very popular in Japan and having them in the program would be a big plus.” The reforms, called “Olympic Agenda 2020,” will be put to a vote by the full IOC at a special
session in Monaco on Dec. 8-9. Barring any surprise, most or all the recommendations are expected to be passed. The reforms could also allow Tokyo organizers to alter their initial plan of having the majority of venues located within an 8-kilometer (5-mile) radius of the Olympic Village — one of the key components of Tokyo’s bid for the games. Under the new proposals, the IOC would allow “the organization of entire sports and disciplines outside the host city or, in exceptional cases, outside the host country notably for reasons of geography and sustainability.” With cost concerns now causing Japanese Olympic organizers to review their initial plans for the venues, the reforms proposed by the IOC could clear the way for them to move some events outside the proposed 8-kilometer (5-mile) radius. During their two-day visit to Tokyo, members of the IOC’s coordination commission visited Saitama Super Arena, a 37,000seat multipurpose venue about one hour north of Tokyo that has been mooted as a possible alternate location for the Olympic basketball competition. “It was a great experience when we went to the Saitama Super Arena,” Coates said. “We are also mindful that it was the sight of the basketball world championships in 2006 and it was very successful.” Coates also suggested that preliminary events in basketball and soccer could be held in cities outside of Tokyo.

TOKYO — Baseball and softball’s bid to return to the Olympic program got a boost Wednesday as organizers of the 2020 Tokyo Games considered ways the International Olympic Committee’s reform agenda could impact planning for the event. Wrapping up the second day of meetings in the Japanese capital, IOC Vice President John Coates and Olympic organizing chief Yoshiro Mori spoke on how the 40 proposals released Tuesday as part of IOC President Thomas Bach’s reform agenda could affect planning for Tokyo 2020. The proposals would allow host cities to propose the inclusion of one or more events for their games — a move which would clear the way for baseball and softball to be included in the 2020 Games. Baseball and softball appeared in the Olympics from 1992 to 2008, but IOC members voted to drop them from the program after the Beijing Games — the first sports to be excluded since polo in 1936. The sports were eventually replaced by golf and rugby sevens, both of which will join the program at the 2016 Rio Olympics. “In the case of Japan, including baseball and softball would be a great idea,” Mori said at a news conference on Wednesday. “The two sports are very popular in Japan and having them in the program would be a big plus.” The reforms, called “Olympic Agenda 2020,” will be put to a vote by the full IOC at a special
session in Monaco on Dec. 8-9. Barring any surprise, most or all the recommendations are expected to be passed. The reforms could also allow Tokyo organizers to alter their initial plan of having the majority of venues located within an 8-kilometer (5-mile) radius of the Olympic Village — one of the key components of Tokyo’s bid for the games. Under the new proposals, the IOC would allow “the organization of entire sports and disciplines outside the host city or, in exceptional cases, outside the host country notably for reasons of geography and sustainability.” With cost concerns now causing Japanese Olympic organizers to review their initial plans for the venues, the reforms proposed by the IOC could clear the way for them to move some events outside the proposed 8-kilometer (5-mile) radius. During their two-day visit to Tokyo, members of the IOC’s coordination commission visited Saitama Super Arena, a 37,000seat multipurpose venue about one hour north of Tokyo that has been mooted as a possible alternate location for the Olympic basketball competition. “It was a great experience when we went to the Saitama Super Arena,” Coates said. “We are also mindful that it was the sight of the basketball world championships in 2006 and it was very successful.” Coates also suggested that preliminary events in basketball and soccer could be held in cities outside of Tokyo.

TOKYO - A 67-year-old millionairess was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of poisoning her husband with cyanide as it emerged six former partners had already died, in Japan’s latest apparent “black widow” case. Chisako Kakehi has been the beneficiary of a combined 800 million yen ($6.8 million) over the last two decades, Jiji Press said -- insurance money and other assets she received after the seven men’s deaths. Husband number four Isao Kakehi fell sick suddenly at home and was confirmed dead at a hospital in December last year, less than two months after the couple married. An autopsy found highly toxic cyanide compounds in his blood. That came after the September death of a 75-year-old boyfriend,
who fell suddenly ill after the couple ate together at a restaurant, Jiji said. Kakehi’s dalliance with death began in 1994 when her first husband passed away at the age of 54. In 2006 her second husband, whom she had met through a dating agency, died of a stroke aged 69, while the third marriage ended in 2008 with the death of her 75-year-old partner, Jiji said. A boyfriend, believed to have been suffering from some form of cancer, died a year later, and in 2012 her then-fiance met his
fate after collapsing while riding a motorbike. Traces of cyanide were detected in his body, media reports said. Kakehi was arrested Wednesday by police in Kyoto on suspicion of murdering her latest husband. She has denied any involvement in his death. “We suspect she did it for money,” a police investigator on the latest death said without giving details of the amount involved. JAKARTA - Indonesia’s central bank raised interest rates Tuesday for the first time in a year in anticipation of surging inflation after the new government increased the price of subsidised fuel by over 30 percent. At a special meeting called following the price increase, Bank Indonesia raised its key rate by 25 basis points to 7.75 percent, the first rise since November last year and its highest level for more than five years. President Joko Widodo announced the reduction in government fuel subsidies late Monday, his first major move to strengthen the economy since taking office last month. The government estimates the fuel price rise will lead to about $8 billion of savings in next year’s budget, money that Widodo plans to divert to overhauling infrastructure and funding policies to help the poorest. But inflation is expected to jump sharply in the coming weeks as the fuel price rise pushes up the cost of transporting goods, and the central bank’s move was aimed at keeping it in check. “Even though there will be a price increase in the short term, Bank Indo-
nesia... is sure that inflation pressure will remain under control and will be temporary,” bank governor Agus Martowardojo said after the more than seven-hour meeting. The bank forecast that inflation will increase to between 7.7 and 8.1 percent by the end of the year. It stood at 4.83 percent year-on-year in October. TOKYO - The Bank of Japan on Wednesday held on to its upbeat view that Japan’s economy was recovering, despite GDP data that showed the country had unexpectedly slipped into recession, forcing a snap election. Wrapping up a two-day policy meeting, the central bank kept policy unchanged -- after expanding its already huge stimulus package last month -- as investors eye BoJ governor Haruhiko Kuroda’s press briefing later in the day. Markets want to see what Kuroda says about the government’s decision to delay a sales tax rise next year, after a levy hike in April slammed the brakes on growth just as the deflation-plagued economy appeared to be turning a corner. The BoJ chief -- who was hand picked by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe -- has repeatedly called on Tokyo to follow through on tax rises, which are aimed at generating fresh revenue to pay down Japan’s enormous national debt. “With regard to the outlook, Japan’s economy is expected to continue its moderate recovery trend, and the effects including those of the subsequent decline in demand following the front-loaded increase prior to the consumption tax hike are expected to dissipate gradually,” the BoJ said in a statement. Despite its bullish view on the overall economy, the bank was more cautious on inflation expectations, saying that they “appear to be rising on the whole from a somewhat longerterm perspective”. “The tone of the statement turned
more optimistic with regards to the economic outlook. While board members noted that some weakness on the production side remained, they upgraded their views on exports, housing investment and private consumption,” said Marcel Thieliant from Capital Economics. “However, the BoJ now expects inflation to remain at current levels of 1.0 percent for the time being, rather than to pick up as in previous statements.” Thieliant added that “the statement suggests additional stimulus in the near-term is not on the cards”. In forex markets, the yen weakened further with the dollar at a seven-year high of 117.30 yen after the announcement, up from 116.83 yen in New York. The BoJ’s decision means it will keep trying to pump cash into the banking system at an annual pace of 80 trillion yen ($682 billion), a scheme designed to stimulate the economy. Last month, the bank surprised markets by ramping up its vast monetary easing programme by as much as 20 trillion yen annually to the current level. It also slashed its economic growth forecast by half and trimmed consumer price expectations as a much-touted 2.0 percent inflation target looked increasingly out of reach.

KUTA - The Immigration Office of Bali province will deport four foreigners for violating their visa permits, Chief of Supervisory Unit at Bali’s Immigration Office Mohamad Soleh said here on Tuesday. The four foreigners have been identified as Steven Thomas Gibbs (25), Nancy May Evans (23), Nicholas William Thomas Jones (22), all British nationals, and Marina Naloni Bozlee (17) from the United States. According to Soleh, Nancy May Evans will be deported on Tuesday (Nov 18) at 8:00 p.m. Central Indonesian Time while the other three are waiting for their plane reservation tickets. Besides deporting the four, the immigration office has also banned them from entering Indonesia for the next six months. Soleh stated the immigration police arrested the foreigners during a routine raid at the Seminyak area, Bali province. The four were caught working at a store in Oberoi street. “They misused their stay permit. They came to Indonesia through the visa-onarrival facility that does not offer work permits to visitors,” noted Soleh. He added that November 2014 will see 114 foreigners being deported from Bali. Last year, 78 foreigners were deported. While 70 percent of the foreigners deported were Australians, the remaining were from the United States, Russia, England, France, Singapore, China, New Zealand, Venezuela, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Greece, and Kazakhstan.

CANBERRA - President Francois Hollande on Wednesday confirmed that two Frenchmen had been identified as suspects in an Islamic State video showing the beheading of Syrian prisoners, while slamming “brainwashing” of the young. The men are seen in the brutal clip released by the IS group on Sunday which features the killing of 18 Syrian prisoners and a US aid worker. “All we can say for now is that there were two French people,” Hollande told a press conference in Canberra alongside Australian leader Tony Abbott. “One has been categorically identified and the other one is in the process of being identified.” French prosecutors have confirmed the first was 22-year-old Maxime Hauchard from Normandy in northern France but the identity of what they said was a possible second Frenchman was not given. Hollande said it was not clear exactly what role the men played in the beheadings and that “the judicial system will have to establish this”.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said in Paris that Hauchard left for Syria “in August 2013 after a stay in Mauritania in 2012”, after reportedly becoming radicalised online. Around 1,000 French nationals are thought to have taken part in the conflict in Syria and Iraq, with 375 currently there, the government has said. At least 36 have died. The researchers say they found potential links to male homosexuality in a portion of chromosome X and on chromosome 8, based on an analysis of genetic material in blood or saliva samples from participants.
Chromosome X is one of two human sex chromosomes; the other is chromosome Y, present only in men. The study authors note that animal research suggests a gene located in one region of chromosome X may contribute to some sexual behavior; it’s one of the same regions cited in the new study. Specific causes of homosexuality are unknown. Some scientists think social, cultural, family and biological factors are involved, while some religious groups consider it an immoral choice. Study participant Dr. Chad Zawitz, a Chicago physician, called the research “a giant step forward” toward answering scientific questions about homosexuality and helping reduce the stigma gays often face. Being gay “is sort of like having certain eye color or skin color — it’s just who you are,” Zawitz said. “Most heterosexuals I know didn’t choose to be heterosexual. Balinese Temple Ceremony Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

The honor was announced on the late night US TV show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on ABC and in the magazine itself. These included “the black Irish humor, the Italian operas, the dance traditions of South America and Spain .. All influenced first Broadway, then our film and TV traditions,” he told AFP. DENPASAR - The price hike of diesel fuel and gasoline is surely followed by some new problems. They include the rising price of basic necessities and declining purchasing power of the lower middle class. Even, it ultimately affected the increase in the poverty rate. To that end, the Deputy Chairman of the Bali House, Nyoman Sugawa Korry, asked the Bali government to jointly anticipate the impacts and never only depended on the compensation program of central government. “The executive and the legislative must sit together to formulate synergic policies between the policies of central, provincial and county/municipal government related to the program for
