In addition, the previous Culture and Tourism ministry now becomes the Tourism and Creative Economy ministry.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced a long-anticipated cabinet reshuffle Tuesday in a bid to reform his graft-ridden government and improve investor confidence during his last term. But analysts criticised the shake-up as a superficial move to boost the president’s approval rating, which slid to its lowest this month in Yudhoyono’s sevenyear leadership. “By and large the reshuffle is not going to make a huge impact on investment. The government has only three more years in its term, and having new ministers coming in is not necessarily going to be efficient,” Standard Chartered economist Fauzi Ichsan told AFP. The president announced changes in the leadership of 12 of the country’s 34 ministries, with trade minister Mari Elka Pangestu to become tourism minister, replaced by the country’s investment board chairman, Gita Wirjawan, a respected former investment banker likely to support bureaucratic reform. “I would like to express once again that the purpose of the cabinet reshuffle is to improve the performance and effectiveness of the cabinet”, Yudhoyono said. “The year coming poses more complex problems and challenges. Criminal Detective Unit of South Denpasar Police led by Chief Unit Nengah Sudiarta managed to uncover a theft case occurred on June 24, 2011. plained on Tuesday (Oct 18) that disclosure of the case was due to hard work of his members. Although it had happened long time ago, the investigators did not just keep quiet. Huge waves hit the coastal areas of Candikusuma, Melaya and Pebuahan, Negara, on Monday (Oct 17) at 11:00 p.m. Local Time. As a result, the Candikusuma pier denoting a tourist attraction completely damaged. Meanwhile, the Baitul Ma’mur mosque at Candikusuma was in danger of collapse and the road to location of Melasti procession was cut off. Additionally, the revetment of grilled seafood stall belonging to Maimunah/H Nasrun and his gazebo were destroyed by the waves. Similar incident also hit the revetment of the seafood stall of H Muzaki, the pioneer of seafood stall since 1997 at Pebuahan where his property was pulverized and eroded by the waves. Uswati, one of the residents of Tirtakusuma Hamlet, Candikusuma, Melaya, said that local residents had been uneasy for three days because the waves were very huge. They crashed the pier, so it consequently shattered and c ut off last Monday night. Even, four anglers from Wanasari, Melaya, were trapped at the end of the pier and nearly drowned. Finally, they could be rescued by the National SAR Agency team. According to her, residents had fed up with the promises of government that would soon overcome the increasingly severe abrasion but no realization to date. He predicted if not addressed soon, the region could be entirely eroded within a year. “This has not been a year, but the impact is so severe like this,� he said. He hoped at least the provincial and central government could see the existing real condition as it was not just a matter of measurement. “Please do not just be studied but without follow-up,� he observed. KRouge trial to hear evidence next month AFP
Cambodia’s war crimes court said Tuesday that it would hear evidence next month in the long-awaited trial of four former Khmer Rouge leaders accused of genocide and crimes against humanity. The UN-backed tribunal will start hearing opening statements from all parties on November 21, followed by evidence presentation on November 28. “This is obviously a moment that the Cambodian people have been waiting for,” said tribunal spokesman Lars Olsen. The accused -- including “Brother Number Two” Nuon Chea and former head of state Khieu Samphan -- deny charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide over the deaths of up to two million people in the late 1970s. Amid fears that not all of the ailing defendants, aged 7 9 to 85, will live to see a verdict, the court last month divided their complex case into a series of smaller trials to speed up proceedings. Next month’s first trial will focus on the forced movement of population and the related charges of crimes against humanity. But the prosecution and the defence will be allowed to address all the charges in their opening statements. The court is expected to announce in the coming weeks whether defendant Ieng Thirith, a former social affairs minister, is fit to stand trial after a medical expert said she suffers from dementia. Nuon Chea, seen as the regime’s chief ideologue, is also contesting his ability to be tried and has said he has trouble concentrating and sitting for long periods. The trial comes as the tribunal, seen as vital to providing some justice for the traumatised nation, is mired in controversy following a judge’s shock resignation on October 9 citing government interference at the court. A senior UN legal official is travelling to Phnom Penh later this week to address those concerns. In its historic first trial, the court sentenced former prison chief Kaing Guek Eav -- also known as Duch -- to 30 years in jail last year for overseeing the deaths of 15,000 people. The case is now under appeal. Led by “Brother Number One” Pol Pot, who died in 1998, the Khmer Rouge wiped out nearly a quarter of the population through starvation, overwork or execution in a bid to create an agrarian utopia.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah, a senior member of the ruling family, has tendered his resignation, reportedly over a graft case, and it has been accepted, an official statement said on Tuesday. “The resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah has been accepted,” State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Ali al-Rashed said in the statement carried by the official KUNA news agency. No reason was given for the resignation of one of the most senior members of the cabinet but Kuwait media said he had quit over an alleged graft scandal involving several MPs and possibly government officials. Rashed himself was appointed as acting foreign minister until a new minister is appointed. Kuwaiti media said that Sheikh Mohammad, who has been foreign minister since 2003, submitted his resignation on Monday and did not attend the cabinet meeting. Balinese Temple Ceremony EVERY Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

Football superstar David Beckham looks set to visit Singapore and Indonesia on a promotional tour in the coming weeks, organisers said. Beckham and his LA Galaxy team are “80 percent” confirmed to stop off in Southeast Asia en route to their friendly game
in Melbourne in early December, a promoter told AFP. “We are very close in the negotiations. It’s at quite an advanced stage,” the promoter said, referring to the Singapore leg. “We’re negotiating for the whole team, including Beckham. “We’re just sorting out sponsors. She said tentative dates for Singapore, where Galaxy would meet fans and run a football clinic for youngsters, are December 1-3, adding that the team is also planning a friendly in Jakarta in late November. JAKARTA - Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever has resumed palm oil purchases from Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology (SMART) after the planter adopted new green policies, the Indonesian palm oil firm. SMART, which runs the Indonesia palm oil operations of its Singapore-listed parent Golden Agri-Resources , was given a mixed score card last year in an independent environmental audit after Greenpeace accused the firm of clearing peat land and forests that sheltered endangered species. Major palm oil consumers such as Unilever, Nestle and Burger King stopped buying from SMART because of environmental concerns. The palm oil firm said in February it would work with the government and a non-profit body, and Golden Agri then developed a Forest Conservation Policy (FCP) in collaboration with The Forest Trust (TFT), a nonprofit organisation that seeks to promote green business methods. “SMART has received a purchase order from Unilever today, a decision which SMART views as an acknowl-

The monitoring team led by Hadi Susilo, expert staff of the South Kalimantan governor, made a visit to the project site to observe the development of the steel factory. Hadi said the completion of the factory was actually behind schedule due to technical problems. The technical problem included the late arrival of the power plant components such as broiler which was designed in Germany but produced in China. “According to the company`s explanations the power plant construction has been 58.2 percent completed,” Hadi said.

He said theoretically 30 percent of the sea ecosystem must be prepared for conservation in order to increase productivity of waters and develop their potential. But due to various shortcomings and limits faced by the government and the Indonesian community so far the conservation area has remained relatively limited, he said. “Certainly efforts must be continued to expand the
area to reach the ideal level,” he said. Sudirman said Indonesia is a country with a lot of islands and therefore also has vast waters and so efforts to expand the conservation area could still be done. Indonesia has also been encouraged to produce the world`s biggest marine and fisheries products and therefore real efforts must be continued especially to optimize its marine potentials. As an archipelago with more than 17,000 islands and a coastline of 81,000 kilometer long Indonesia meanwhile is also vulnerable to the impact of climate change. In view of that he said the ministry of fisheries and marine resources is also developing fishery development centers based on small islands especially in the eastern regions which have a large potential to produce fish and other biota products. “As an illustration a small island in Kepulauan Seribu which is managed sustainably is able to produce around 30,000 tons of fish a year. Review: ‘Margin’ depicts collapse with intensity Associated Press Writer
Several movies in the past year or so have tried to get their arms around the unwieldy topic of the 2008 economic collapse. It’s a subject that’s incredibly complicated and, even more challenging for filmmakers, not one that’s inherently cinematic. The documentary “Inside Job” did an excellent job of spelling out what happened in a clear, concise way without ever condescending to its audience, and it earned an Academy Award in the process. Several feature films, including the hit-and-miss “The Company Men” and the operatic “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” have tried to put a human face on the subject with mixed results. Now we have “Margin Call,” which recreates the earliest moments of the crisis with the tight time frame and claustrophobic setting of a play — a David Mamet play, to be specific. First-time writer-director J.C. Chandor depicts this devastating moment of volatility with a patter that’s reminiscent of Mamet: profane and masculine, with rhythmic repetition of certain key phrases that we, unfortunately, can’t repeat here ourselves. It’s a fitting approach given the swagger of the characters in this cruel and competitive world, as well as the pressure they feel once they realize how much trouble they, and the rest of the world, are in. Chandor’s father worked for Merrill Lynch for nearly 40 years, so this is a realm — and a personality type — he knows well. He also
knows well enough to stand back and let the excellent cast of actors he’s amassed do what they do best. He depicts these dramatic developments without any melodrama, but rather offers a steady drumbeat as one person after another comes to the chilling realization that we’re all screwed. “Margin Call” takes place over a 24-hour period, beginning with some slash-and-burn layoffs at a major financial firm. Among the casualties is risk analyst Eric Dale (Stanley Tucci), who passes along to one of his underlings, Peter Sullivan (Zachary Quinto, who’s also a producer), some figures he was studying on his way out the door. His warning: “Be careful.” Peter — who literally is a rocket scientist with a doctorate from MIT — digs a little deeper later that night while the firm’s bad boys are out partying. His realization that Eric was onto something, that the firm is in way over its head and is about to find out its assets are essentially worthless, spreads across his face with a quiet horror. A city prosecutor will recommend Wednesday that the troubled starlet be sent back to jail because she had been ousted from a community service assignment at a women’s shelter. Lohan had been ordered in April to serve 360 hours at the Downtown Women’s Center, an agency that helps homeless women. It is unclear how many hours she completed there, but she was terminated by the center and has been serving hours lately with the American Red Cross. Deputy City Attorney Melanie Chavira will ask that Lohan be found in violation of her probation and be sentenced to jail, city attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan said Tuesday. It will ultimately be up to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge

Russia’s chief prosecutor on Tuesday blamed a recent spate of disasters threatening the future of the International Space Station (ISS) on negligence by the country’s underpaid rocket scientists. The analysis was done with data from 6,000 children in the trial over a 12-month follow up after vaccination. More data is needed from the younger age group -- infants aged six to 12 weeks -- to better assess how well it works in this particularly vulnerable group, experts said. Additional results from the younger set are due next year.

“In rally teams all the way through history it is normal that the best teams will always have good team-mates,” said Sainz. “There is nothing new in these situations, look at Toyota, Lancia, Subaru even Citroen in the past - it was always normal to have strong drivers in the same team at the same time. “For me it is possible to manage two very good drivers and I don’t see why it can’t be done in the future.” Loeb is tied in the lead of the World Rally Championship, with Ogier just three points behind. Citroen and Ogier have publicly stated their support for Loeb in his pursuit of an eighth consecutive drivers’ title. Ogier’s future at Citroen remains the focus of intense speculation, however.
:LOOLDPV PXVW XQGHUVWDQG FDU LVVXHV Rubens Barrichello thinks it is vital that Williams gets an understanding of why this year’s car did not perform if it is to ensure that its 2012 challenger is a big step forward. With Williams enduring its worst ever season in F1, Barrichello thinks the target for the remainder of the campaign is not in improving the current car but in getting to grips on what went wrong last winter. “The car was born bad and there is no way of turning that back,” said Barrichello. “There are ways of massaging and improving it - but the most important thing is not to improve this car, it is to understand what went wrong
and to make the next one better. Otherwise, the next one will be born the same way. It needs addressing. “There are two or three causes of the problem, and that is what makes it an unknown situation. With a different engine and a different guy building it, the car will have a different characteristic anyway. But if they solve the problems of this year in full, the chances of building a much better car next year
are greater.” When asked if one of the biggest problems this year has been the inconsistency of the downforce, Barrichello said: “It is more than that. We have been having problems with the quality of parts, because one day the car could be okay, and the other car with the same wing will not perform in the same way. So we need to address that as well.” Barrichello is encouraged that the arrival of new chief operations engineer Mark Gillan is helping matters and think communication between factory and track is being improved. “The whole
situation of Mark is for the communication to be fully addressed back to the factory,” he explained. “F1 is such a difficult business. You could say that I had a good car, but I am in Japan, it gets to England and it is like, ‘Rubens sort of said he had a good car’ but the phrase could get longer or shorter. It is never straight to the point. And that is the thing that is so difficult to address. “So to have Mark as a brand new guy, actually addressing the problems to Jason [Somerville] and Mike [Coughlan], back at the factory, that is a good thing.”
