BERLIN - French actress Isabelle Huppert said on Saturday she was pleased that women were speaking up about their experiences of sexual abuse and harassment after staying silent for so long. Huppert, who has starred in more than 100 films, was speaking at the Berlin film festival, where a movie called “Eva” in which she plays a high-class prostitute is premiering. There is a growing debate on sexual harassment driven by the #MeToo movement on social media and Time’s Up, launched by more than 300 Hollywood industry figures in January in response to sexual assault and harassment allegations against powerful men in entertainment, politics and other fields. “I have looked on everything that has happened with this movement with a lot of sympathy and hope because it’s so long that all this stuff should have been said and it finally has been said for the last few months,” Huppert said. “And that’s been one of the reasons why I’ve been doing cinema - to speak of women in a certain way - and personally speaking I’m very happy that some things have finally been brought out into the open, definitively I hope,” she added. French actress Catherine Deneuve and 99 other French women signed a column in Le Monde in January saying the #MeToo campaign had gone too far and was fuelled by a “hatred of men”.
But the movement is in the limelight at this year’s Berlinale - several discussion events are being held, guests can visit a counselling corner, and festival director Dieter Kosslick has said some films were cut from the programme due to sexual abuse allegations against people involved. On Saturday, European film industry workers launched a campaign called “Speak Up!” to try to put an end to sexual harassment and abuse being tolerated in workplaces. It encourages people to point out incidents of sexism, harassment and abuse of power and wants to ensure businesses know what inappropriate behaviour and sexual misconduct is. “Eva” is one of 19 films competing for the Berlinale’s Golden and Silver Bears to be handed out on Feb. 24. Directed by Benoit Jacquot, it tells the story of young man called Bertrand who shoots to fame with a manuscript he stole from a dead writer. Bertrand is under pressure to write a second piece that will enjoy the same kind of success so when he meets the attractive yet distant Eva he begins transcribing their conversations to form the basis of his next literary work. DUBAI - All 66 passengers and crew were believed to have been killed in a plane crash in central Iran on Sunday, an airline spokesman said, after the domestic flight came down in bad weather in a mountainous region. Operated by Iranian carrier Aseman Airlines, the plane crashed near the town of Semirom after taking off from Tehran’s Mehrabad airport, news agency ISNA quoted emergency services spokesman Mojtaba Khaledi as saying. The ATR-made plane was on a flight to the southwestern city of Yasuj and a spokesman for the airline said there were 60 passengers and six crew aboard. “All... on board were unfortunately killed,” Aseman spokesman Mohammad Taqi Tabatabai told state television. Rescue helicopters were unable to land at the probable crash site because of heavy fog and emergency workers were searching the mountainous area

Opposition to reclamation of Benoa Bay
Economic goals must not sacrifice nature
DENPASAR - During a protest against the planned reclamation of Benao Bay that was held outside the gubernatorial office on Saturday (Feb.17), rock band Navicula played their song entitled law mafia: “The entrepreneurs have conspired with the authorities. They may be rich but they are lacking. The laws are engineered for the rich. The commoners become victims”. This protest was the latest in a series of innumerable others like it that included art and culture organized by ForBALI and the Association of Customary Villages (Pasubayan) Rejecting Benoa Bay Reclamation.
Navicula’s song Law Mafia is found on their compilation album entitle “Bali Gerak” which translates as “Bali Moves” but means something like Bali stands together. This album was released as a form of protest against the plan to backfill some 700 hectares in Benoa Bay.. “Presidential Regulation No.51/2014 was engineered to allow a conservation zone to
be rezoned for utilization”, said Navicula’s vocalist Robi. According to Robi, protesting against the planned reclamation of Benoa Bay is a struggle of conscience and does not violate the law because it is in line with the 1945 Constitution. Basic principles of the state have mandated three things related to development in Indonesia (including Bali): development projects must be based on the benefits, independence and sustainability. “Development in Indonesia must be based on the principle of benefit. This means that many people benefit, that their live;s benefit not just a few rulers, corporations or groups”, he explained. The principle of independence, continued Robi, in this case relates the coast as one of the Indonesia’s greatest assets because of the vast sea. The nation must protect all its assets – not only the sea but also the forest, its local policies as well as indigenous people. “The third guiding principle of development is sustainability, which of course includes preserving the environment”, he added. It’s total non sense. In my opinion, it does not make any sense”, he said. Thousands of people took part in the protest against the reclamation of Benoa Bay under the banner “Tolak Reklamasi”. The mass of peaceful protestors walked from the East Parking Lot of Renon Square, Denpasar to the gubernatorial office where a giant 150 meter long cloth was unfurled. “On the long cloth we wrote ‘The fire of our rejection the Benoa Bay Reclamation’ indicating that the passion to oppose the reclamation plan is alive and well and we believe it strongly”, said coordinator of ForBALI, I Wayan ‘Gendo’ Suardana. Gendo explained that August 25, 2018 is the deadline for the extension of the location permit issued by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to the investors of the reclamation project. If by August 25, the impact analysis of PT. TWBI has not been approved by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the location permit expires and the investors can no longer continue their planned reclamation of Benoa Bay. So far, PT. TWBI’s impact analysis has still not been approved because the socio-cultural impact criteria has not been met given that the local community and adjacent customary villages of Benoa Bay have clearly stated their disapproval of the proposed plan. “Legally, it should end (on August 25, 2018—Ed), but we do not know what other maneuvers might be played because base on our experience for the past 5 years there always seem to be ways for the ruler to provide an opportunities for the reclamation project”, he said. Gendo gave the example of Presidential Regulation No.45/2011declaring Benoa Bay as a conservation area having been revised with Presidential Regulation No.51/2014. This can serve a a political lesson for the people. People can see for themselves the behavior of their leaders in the face of investment -whether the ruler will be defeated by owners of capital or not. “If there are such maneuvers again, I am confident this will become a bad precedent in coastal and marine governance. Farmers at Subak Bekutel present banten pejati to reduce pest attack
Many paddy farmers today prefer to use chemically-based pesticides to repel pests from their crops. However, there are subak (irrigation cooperative) groups that still use traditional methods to prevent the spreads of pest that attack their paddy plants, including presenting banten pejati offerings at the temple adjacent to their farmlands. village, Susut, Bangli, I Wayan Tata, explained that in Subak Bekutal, the farmers conducted a notification ritual at Dugul and Masceta Temples that are located near their paddy fields. He said this tradition is a legacy that has been passed down from generation to generation. “When a pest attack hits the paddy fields, all our farmers present offerings in the notification ritual
at the two temples. We use banten pejati offerings. This ceremony is only held when there is a pest attack in the fields. Otherwise, we do not hold this ceremony”, he explained. According to Tata, the ceremony is meant to appeal to God whose manifestation abides in the temples asking that the pest attacks be reduced. Every new moon in December (tilem keenem) the farmers also
carry out the nangluk merana ceremony which serves a similar purpose of asking that the pest attacks be reduced so that the farmer’s paddy plant scan grow well. “Naturally pest will attack paddy fileds, however if we do the notification ritual and the nangluk merana ceremonies, there are less pests. We saw this just a few days ago, in Subak Bekutel where the paddy plants were being attacked
by mice and such. After doing the notification ritual at Dugul and Masceti Temples, there was a marled reduction on the amount of pest compared to before the ritual”, he said. Admittedly, many farmers in Bali prefer to use chemical pesticides as there are more practical and faster. Traditional ways of expelling pests are being abandoned. (nan)

as well as a chance to treat your tastebuds and spare the sinuses! The wasabi (a root imported from Japan) is actually grated at your table using a traditional shark skin board. A bamboo brush carefully collects the residue of fresh paste and, after waiting five minutes for the complete kick of the wasabi to develop, just add it to your fish and experience the flavour sensation. Fresh wasabi still packs a punch. It’s strong and hot but without the lasting burn of horseradish and thankfully, minus an assault on your sinuses! But you need to indulge quickly, as the full, somewhat herbaceous flavours of this fresh condiment disappear after twenty minutes! The Signature Rolls at Finns Sushi Bar are almost too pretty to eat. Whether you’re a slave to social media or not, you’ll want to snap a pic of this before you sample it, however, one taste of their Dragon Roll and you’ll soon forgo any artistic appreciation for the sake of a screaming tummy! Portions are generous and prices reasonable but freshness and flavour are the real winners of each dish.

Many spa businesses in South Kuta alleged to be unlicensed
MANGUPURA — Many spa businesses in the area of South Kuta are alleged to have not owned the permit. Such condition was revealed after municipal police team of South Kuta carried out a raid for several times.
Meanwhile, the ‘getting up in the morning’ operation held on Monday (Feb. 12) found there are 13 spa businesses that cannot present their permission. In the meantime, the businesses are only given coaching so as to immediately submit their respective permit. They are given tolerance for one month. Otherwise, they will be imposed with sanctions and will be on trial with misdemeanor claim. Squad Commander of South Kuta Municipal Police, Wayan Suharyana, when asked for his confirmation on Tuesday (Feb. 13) said that from the raid against the spa business carried out so far, the operation is estimated not to have reached 40 percent of the existing spa businesses in South Kuta area. From the spa business having been recorded, most of the licensed spa businesses are located on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai. Suharyana asserted that all businesses should have licensing documents. Without such licensing, the business concerned can be categorized to be illegal, and must be disciplined. His office hoped the related businesses to immediately submit their permission if they do not want to be disciplined. “We have boosted data collection and coaching for tourism supporting businesses since about a week ago. Although each year has its own unique elements, some traditional aspects have grown over more than a century: Carnival Parades by day and by night; Flower Battles; fireworks and the burning of an enormous King. The Carnival King leads his Carnival Procession through the streets, with around twenty floats taking the theme of the year. The King is accompanied by more than fifty giant-headed puppets, the Grosses Tetes. Making the papier-mache fig-
ures uses centuries-old techniques, and the painting is done by specialist craftspeople. Costumes are created to dress each character, the more flamboyant the better. Just one puppet can weigh over two tons and tower over the watching crowds at twelve meters high. A king must have a queen, and she is selected from a bevy of local beauties for the honour. Her duties range from posing for Carnival photos to throwing posies of flowers from a float for the Flower Parade. So she needs to be able to keep that lovely smile all day and into the night’s revelries.
Parades take place on three or four afternoons or evenings a week during the Carnival period, and most are free, so you can save your cash for some luxury shopping or a more upmarket hotel. There’s always an admission charge for the Bataille des Fleurs, but it’s well worth shelling out for. The final weekend of the Carnival in Nice includes a popular Bartenders Race, and the year’s Carnival King is burned in the sea on the last night, followed by a fantastic firework display. DENPASAR — A fire incident occurred in the Building Unit V of the Bali’s governor office on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 13). The incident was known around 17:30 local time exactly after the Open Plenary Meeting related to the drawing of the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor in a series of the Bali gubernatorial election 2018 held by Bali Electoral Commission (KPUD) in Wiswa Sabha Utama Building of gubernatorial office. Location of the building on fire is behind the Wiswa Sabha Building. Unit V consists of three floors. On the first floor sits the Press Room, Public Relations Bureau and BPD Bali Office. Then, on the second floor are the Legal and Human Rights Bureau, and the Government Bureau on the third floor. As seen on Tuesday, a thin white smoke came out of the building, especially from the third floor. Over time, the intensity of smoke was getting thicker and closed visibility. The color was changed into black, before finally emerging flames from the west side of the building.

When the smoke remained thin, some employees were seen standing outside Unit V with a panic face. One of the employees admitted that he just completed the work on the third floor before he finally went down and saw the fire on the second floor. On the third floor, he thought there was no fire source. Some of the employees from the first floor also seemed to save valuables such as cameras, computers, photo and video servers, as well as some photos. An employee of the Public Relations Bureau said that he had just started the computer in his office when he heard an employee shouting from upstairs. Before that, he already smelled something scorched. However, he did not find a source of fire on the first floor. When he wanted to bring a hydrant tube to extinguish the fire upstairs, his steps stopped on the second floor because the fire already enlarged. A fire truck just arrived few minutes after the incident. After that, a row of other fire trucks came along with water cannon. In total, there are about seven fire trucks from Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Denpasar, six from BPBD Badung district and two water cannon from Bali Police Mobile Brigade which were going back and forth to extinguish the fire. Until around 19:00 local time, they still looked to extinguish the fire on the third floor. Around 19:45, two fire trucks came from Klungkung district. So, as a whole there were 15 units of fire trucks and two units of water cannon involved in extinguishing the fire. Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, looked to visit the location when the officials tried to extinguish the fire. He guaranteed there are only a handful of archives in Unit V. The archives are said to be in a safe place at the Archives and Library of Bali Province. “The archives have been saved. They also have backup in the form of soft copy. Now, there is no longer in the form of a lot of paper,” he said. Pastika admitted that this incident was known late because most employees had already returned home. On the other
hand, the age of Building Unit V is also old enough because it was built around 1978 in the era of Governor Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra. He suspected the fire occurred due to electrical short circuit. It is not caused by other things such as sabotage because there was a drawing of serial number for the candidate pair of Bali gubernatorial election. “Do not think too far away, fire incident can happen everywhere. Similarly, our home can be on fire. Probably, it’s time to build a new building,” he explained. In addition to the governor, a number of officials in the Bali provincial government also visited the scene, ranging from the head of the agencies, regional secretary to the Deputy Governor I Ketut Sudikerta. Such incident also attracted the surrounding communities to watch closely the fire fighting process. Around 20:00 local time, the fire was no longer visible. From outside the building, it could be seen a pretty severe damage on the third floor. Head of the BPBD Denpasar, I.B. Joni Ariwibawa, said the fire could be totally extinguished around 20:30. His agency together with BPBD Badung also did the cooling and checking into the building. It just needed the checking by police authority to know the causes and losses experienced by the Bali provincial government. “If we look from outside, the most severe damages occurred on the third floor. The source of fire is still investigated by police, we do not know whether it was from the first, second or third floor,” he said.

In addition to the fire incident in Unit V, one of the shrine buildings located in the northeast of the gubernatorial office was also on fire. It is unknown yet what caused, although there are allegations it was exposed to sparks. Two buildings of elementary schools break down
Legislators deplore low commitment to advance education
NEGARA - Commission A of the Jembrana House of Representatives led by Secretary of Commission A, Ketut Sadwi Darmawan, together with the members consisting of Made Artini, Komang Adiyasa and Siti Ulfa, held a raid on Tuesday (Feb. 13) to elementary schools of SDN 7 Yehembang and SDN 2 Tegalcangkring, Mendoyo subdistrict. At the two schools the legislators found the buildings are collapsed on the roof due to porous lightweight steel. The legislators regretted the lack of commitment to advance education in Jembrana. “Related agencies should take quick response and do not just wait. Be proactive and all elements must be involved as the development must be done together,” said Sadwi Darmawan. Principal of SDN 7 Yehembang, Gusti Ayu Nilawati, accompanied by a number of teachers said the building made in 2008 has started to break down since a year ago. Moreover, it has been inspected by deputy regent of Jembrana. “It was broken last January 31, right on the full moon and when the students were praying. Until now, there has been indeed no handling,” added Gusti Ketut Cakra, another teacher. The building accommodates the fifth and sixth grade classrooms. It is prone to be broken down so that students are now studying in school health unit (UKS) room because the damaged building is emptied. Meanwhile, in SDN 2 Tegalcangkring, the roof of the building also collapsed comprising that of the principal as well as the fourth and fifth grade classroom. Principal of SDN 2 Tegalcangkring, Gusti Ngurah Suardana, said the roof of the building collapsed in December
2017. It has also been proposed to get school improvement. “However, we are told to wait as there will be a team to come down, but only the supervisory officer that came down. Our students are evacuated to the KKG meeting room,” he said. This school is said to be categorized into a core school. On that account, the KKG temporarily moved to SDN 5 Yehembang. Sadwi Darmawan accompanied by other legislators also said that all this time the district government of Jembrana declares the commitment to improve the quality of education. “However, in reality there are still damaged and broken school buildings. Moreover, there are even proposals that have not been addressed,” he said. In the future, it is necessary to study the use of lightweight steel hood for the construction of roof of the building because it easily becomes porous. “It has been porous before 6 or 10 years old. This must be well considered whether it is appropriate to be used in Jembrana or not. I think it is better to use wood again,” he explained. He regretted such lack of commitment. MANILA - Philippine attorney Jude Sabio says he hasn’t been home for a year, steers clear of public events and is forever looking over his shoulder after accusing President Rodrigo Duterte of crimes against humanity. Sabio, a stocky 51 year-old, says he lives in constant fear of reprisals after filing a complaint at the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the wildly popular Duterte, whose administration Filipinos rate as the best performing since opinion polls started in the 1980s. A little-known lawyer until he filed the complaint last April, Sabio argues that the deaths of thousands of Filipinos in a brutal war on drugs is Duterte’s method of controlling crime, and that he used the tactic effectively during his 22 years as the mayor of Davao City in the south of the country. Duterte has repeatedly denied ordering extra-judicial killings while mayor or president and reiterated this month that he would “gladly” go before the ICC. Court Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda had earlier said her office had started a preliminary examination into whether any crimes against humanity had been committed and if ICC had jurisdiction. The step is the first in a process that could take years to complete, if at all. Since it was set up in 2002, the ICC has received more than 12,000 complaints or communications, just nine of which have gone to trial. India’s Income Tax department warned in an internal note seen by Reuters that domestic banks could take a hit of more than $3 billion from loans and corporate
guarantees provided to Modi and Choksi. The arrests, late on Friday, came two days after India’s secondlargest state-run lender said it had been hit by massive fraud, sending its share price tumbling. The accusations against the two relatively junior PNB officials were detailed in the lender’s disclosure, and also contained in a preliminary police report. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also arrested a third person, Hemant Bhat, whom a source described as the “authorised signatory” of the companies tied to Nirav Modi. All three appeared before a hot, packed courtroom in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon, where they
were ordered to remain under police custody until March 3 to allow the CBI to continue its investigation. Still, the industry remains a key hard currency earner. Tourism, another big source of income, nearly collapsed after two militant attacks in 2015. The number of foreign visitors rose by 23 percent in 2017 but is still below pre-2011 levels. The economy has deteriorated further in recent weeks, with hard currency reserves falling to a 15-year low and less than three months’ worth.

Protests broke out across the country in January, with many angry at being worse off than before a 2011 uprising toppled autocrat Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali. The subsequent turmoil has scared off tourists and investors while fuelling unemployment and inflation as the dinar’s value slid by 40 percent. Those demonstrations have stopped, but youths have switched tactics to blocking all the phosphate mines and hitting the state where it hurts most. PARKLAND - A teenager accused of fatally shooting 17 people at a Florida high school was investigated by police and state officials as far back as 2016 after slashing his arm in a social media video, and saying he wanted to buy a gun, but authorities determined he was receiving sufficient support, newspapers said on Saturday. Nikolas Cruz, 19, is charged with committing multiple murders on Wednesday at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. Days after the killings, a somber series of vigils and funerals were being held in and around Parkland, a Fort Lauderdale suburb of about 32,000 people. Mexico helicopter crash kills 13 on ground in wake of earthquake
SANTIAGO JAMILTEPEC At least 13 people on the ground, including three children, were killed when a Mexican military helicopter carrying top officials surveying damage from an earthquake crashed in a small town in the southern state of Oaxaca, authorities said on Saturday. The helicopter, which was carrying Mexico’s interior minister and the state governor, crashed on top of two vans in an open field while trying to land at night in Santiago Jamiltepec after a tour of damage from Friday’s powerful quake. The senior officials survived but 12 people at the scene were killed and another died later in a hospital, Oaxaca’s attorney general’s office said in a statement. Another 15 people were injured. Luis Cabrera, a civil protection official at the scene, said authorities were still investigating the cause of the crash. The 7.2 magnitude quake knocked out electricity in Santiago Jamiltepec, about 28 miles (45 km) from the tremor’s epicenter, leaving the town in darkness Friday night. A journalist on board the flight told local TV that the helicopter had flown in over a clearing next to homes, raising a huge dust cloud before it crash landed.
At a home near the accident site, family members gathered to mourn their loved ones after officials returned their bodies. Many lashed out in anger at authorities. “The governor was supposedly coming to help, but what was the help, the aid, we received? This was the aid,” said Eduardo Juarez, a relative of one victim. Mexico’s defense minister, General Salvador Cienfuegos, arrived at the scene on Saturday and spoke with locals, offering apologies and taking responsibility for the accident. “We will take care of what we have to do and we will do everything in our power to try to remedy this misfortune,” Cienfuegos told reporters. He blamed the late hour and the heavy dust for “disorienting” the pilot, but he said he did not think there had been any “recklessness” by the helicopters’ crew. The earthquake left nearly a million homes and businesses without power in Mexico City and the south and damaged at least 50 homes in Oaxaca. JAKARTA - An Indonesian court indicted radical Islamic cleric Aman Abdurrahman on Thursday over allegations he masterminded from his jail cell a series of attacks in the Muslim-majority nation, including a deadly 2016 gun and suicide bomb assault in Jakarta. Abdurrahman arrived in a Jakarta courtroom under police escort and at least a dozen heavily armed officers stood guard outside as prosecutors read out allegations against him. According to the indictment document, he was on trial for “planning and/or mobilizing others to carry out terrorist acts ... to create an atmosphere of terror among the public”. Prosecutor Anita Dewayani told the court Abdurrahman had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State militant group in 2014 and then urged others to undertake a series of attacks. She cited one alleged plot for a “Paris-style attack” targeting foreigners, particularly French and Russian citizens. Dewayani read out the names of the victims of some of the attacks Abdurrahman is accused of masterminding, including one in January 2016 in which eight people were killed, including four attackers, after suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the heart of the Indonesian capital. He was immediately re-arrested by police last year after serving time in prison for setting up a militant training camp in the Indonesian province of Aceh. Abdurrahman had reportedly also managed to keep spreading his jihadist message on social media from jail. “To put it generally, he is the mastermind behind many of the terrorist acts in Indonesia,” prosecutor Dewayani later told reporters. Chinese New Year reflects our pride in diversity: House speaker
JAKARTA - Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bambang Soesatyo, has said the Chinese New Year celebrations held significant meaning for Indonesia as they showed the nation`s pride in diversity. “Diversity is not only a national treasure but also the spirit of our nation,” Soesatyo said in a written statement released in Jakarta on Friday. He hoped this year`s Chinese New Year (Imlek) celebration would bring wisdom regarding the importance of diversity. Soesatyo said the celebration of the Lunar New Year belonged not only to Indonesian citizens of Chinese descent but also to all people of ethnic Indonesia. “In this year`s celebration, I appeal that we especially pray for nation`s teacher KH Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur,” he said. The House Speaker, who is also a Golkar Party politician, said Gus Dur had set an example for being grateful for the diversity as a blessing and a gift from God Almighty. He further hoped that through the celebration of Imlek, the nation and the state of Indonesia will continue
to advance into a civilised nation, respecting cultural diversity and loving the nation`s sons. Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) tweeted a message to congratulate those celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year and to wish them prosperity this year. The congratulatory message was posted on the president`s Twitter account @jokowi on Friday. “Wishing Chinese New Year 2569 to those celebrating it. Healthy body, peaceful heart, and always happy. Prosperity is always with all of us,” the president wrote on his account at 10.43 am, local time. Some 3,000 people liked the president`s tweet and 1,800 others re-tweeted the message. The first day of the Chinese New Year 2569 falls on Friday, February 16, marking the start of the Year of Dog. Celebrations generally begin on the first day of the Chinese calendar and end on the 15th, which is often referred to as Cap Go Meh. The Lunar New Year, otherwise known as the Spring Festival, is celebrated around the world but the main festivities are organised in China as well as other Asian countries. According to the Chinese 12-animal zodiac system, 2018 is the Year of the Dog, succeeding the Year of the Rooster and preceding the Year of the Pig. (rtr)
Police name five people as suspects in killing of orangutan SAMARINDA - The police in Kutai Timur, East Kalimantan, have named five people as suspects behind the death of an orangutan by shooting in the Kutai National Park. Chief of the Kutai Timur police resort Senior Adjunct Commissioner Teddy Ristiawan stated here on Saturday that all suspects living near the location where the orangutan’s body was found were arrested on Thursday.
“After intensively questioning them, they were declared as suspects on Friday,” he noted. The arrests of the five suspects were made eight days after the police conducted an investigation into the death of the primate found with some 130 air gun bullets in its body. “They are crop farmers and know that hurting orangutans is against the law. They shot the animal, as it had damaged their crops,” he noted.

However, the orangutan succumbed to serious injuries on Tuesday (Feb 2) at around 1:55 a.m. local time. A team of doctors was only able to remove 48 out of around 130 bullets found lodged mostly in the head of the animal during an operation that lasted from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Doctors also discovered at least 19 old and new sharp object wounds on the body of the animal. (rtr)

GANGNEUNG - American jumping ace Nathan Chen lived up to his reputation on Saturday, redeeming himself with quadruple jumps after a pair of disastrous skates in Pyeongchang and making Olympic history into the bargain with a brilliant free skate. a terrible short skate with a stellar free programme that lifted her from far down the ranks up to sixth place and left her in tears. Chen said that his fall and the other mistakes of Friday’s short programme proved strangely freeing. “Honestly, I wasn’t nervous at all,” the 18-year-old told reporters after his performance, saying that doing so badly led to his decision to add another quad to his programme. “I sort of planned it yesterday after I had such a bad short. I might as well just go for everything right now, I have literally nothing to lose so I might as well just
go for it.” After repeatedly saying that the Olympics were just another competition for him prior to his short skate on Friday, Chen taking part in his first Olympics - ruefully admitted that the expectations and the occasion got the best of him. “As much as I tried to deny it I guess I really did feel the pressure a lot, from especially before the short programme, thinking about medals and all that, things that were completely out of my control,” he said. “That just tightened me up and made me really cautious out on the ice, and that’s not the right way to skate.” Chen said earlier this week that after his
poor skate in the team competition he had gone straight to the rink for 20 minutes of practice that had helped settle his head. But Friday was different. “There was no ice time, or I totally would have (practiced),” he said. “I went home and lay in bed and tried to relax a bit.” In the end, he was philosophical. “I was glad I was able to show myself and everyone else that I can bounce back from a bad performance. But Friday was different. “There was no ice time, or I totally would have (practiced),” he said. “I went home and lay in bed and tried to relax a bit.” In the end, he was philosophical. “I was glad I was able to show myself and everyone else that I can bounce back from a bad performance. Florida school massacre suspect on authorities’ radar in 2016 -media
PARKLAND - A teenager accused of fatally shooting 17 people at a Florida high school was investigated by police and state officials as far back as 2016 after slashing his arm in a social media video, and saying he wanted to buy a gun, but authorities determined he was receiving sufficient support, newspapers said on Saturday. Nikolas Cruz, 19, is charged with committing multiple murders on Wednesday at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. More than a dozen people also were wounded in the deadliest shooting at a U.S. high school. The charges can bring the death penalty, but prosecutors have not yet said if they will seek capital punishment. Days after the killings, a somber series of vigils and funerals were being held in and around Parkland, a Fort Lauderdale suburb of about 32,000 people. The South Florida Sun Sentinel first reported that a video of Cruz cutting his arm posted to the social media network Snapchat in September 2016 raised concerns among law enforcement and at the Florida Department of Children and Families. “Mr. Cruz stated he plans to go out and buy a gun. It is unknown what he is buying the gun for,” said a

Mexico helicopter crash kills 13 on ground in wake of earthquake
SANTIAGO JAMILTEPEC At least 13 people on the ground, including three children, were killed when a Mexican military helicopter carrying top officials surveying damage from an earthquake crashed in a small town in the southern state of Oaxaca, authorities said on Saturday. The helicopter, which was carrying Mexico’s interior minister and the state governor, crashed on top of two vans in an open field while trying to land at night in Santiago Jamiltepec after a tour of damage from Friday’s powerful quake. The senior officials survived but 12 people at the scene were killed and another died later in a hospital, Oaxaca’s attorney general’s office said in a statement. Another 15 people were injured. Luis Cabrera, a civil protection official at the scene, said authorities were still investigating the cause of the crash. The 7.2 magnitude quake knocked out electricity in Santiago Jamiltepec, about 28 miles (45 km) from the tremor’s epicenter, leaving the town in darkness Friday night. A journalist on board the flight told local TV that the helicopter had flown in over a clearing next to homes, raising a huge dust cloud before it crash landed.
At a home near the accident site, family members gathered to mourn their loved ones after officials returned their bodies. Many lashed out in anger at authorities. “The governor was supposedly coming to help, but what was the help, the aid, we received? This was the aid,” said Eduardo Juarez, a relative of one victim. Mexico’s defense minister, General Salvador Cienfuegos, arrived at the scene on Saturday and spoke with locals, offering apologies and taking responsibility for the accident. “We will take care of what we have to do and we will do everything in our power to try to remedy this misfortune,” Cienfuegos told reporters. He blamed the late hour and the heavy dust for “disorienting” the pilot, but he said he did not think there had been any “recklessness” by the helicopters’ crew. The earthquake left nearly a million homes and businesses without power in Mexico City and the south and damaged at least 50 homes in Oaxaca. The state, along with Mexico City, is still reeling from earthquakes in September that killed at least 471 people and caused widespread damage. (rtr)

JAKARTA - An Indonesian court indicted radical Islamic cleric Aman Abdurrahman on Thursday over allegations he masterminded from his jail cell a series of attacks in the Muslim-majority nation, including a deadly 2016 gun and suicide bomb assault in Jakarta. Abdurrahman arrived in a Jakarta courtroom under police escort and at least a dozen heavily armed officers stood guard outside as prosecutors read out allegations against him. According to the indictment document, he was on trial for “planning and/or mobilizing others to carry out terrorist acts ... to create an atmosphere of terror among the public”. Prosecutor Anita Dewayani told the court Abdurrahman had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State militant group in 2014 and then urged others to undertake a series of attacks. She cited one alleged plot for a “Paris-style attack” targeting foreigners, particularly French and Russian citizens. Dewayani read out the names of the victims of some of the attacks Abdurrahman is accused of masterminding, including one in January 2016 in which eight people were killed, including four attackers, after suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the heart of the Indonesian capital. She also alleged he was behind
a suicide attack last year that killed three police officers at a Jakarta bus station and the bombing of a church in Samarinda on Borneo island that wounded four children. Abdurrahman, who wore orange prison clothes with a checkered scarf tied around his head, told the court he understood the charges and did not object to the indictment. His lawyer was not immediately available for comment. The cleric and ideologue is the founder of Islamic State-linked Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), a militant group in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country that the United States has designated as a “terrorist organisation”. He was immediately re-arrested by police last year after serving time in prison for setting up a militant training camp in the Indonesian province of Aceh. Abdurrahman had reportedly also managed to keep spreading his jihadist message on social media from jail. “To put it generally, he is the mastermind behind many of the terrorist acts in Indonesia,” prosecutor Dewayani later told reporters. Police name five people as suspects in killing of orangutan SAMARINDA - The police in Kutai Timur, East Kalimantan, have named five people as suspects behind the death of an orangutan by shooting in the Kutai National Park. Chief of the Kutai Timur police resort Senior Adjunct Commissioner Teddy Ristiawan stated here on Saturday that all suspects living near the location where the orangutan’s body was found were arrested on Thursday.
“After intensively questioning them, they were declared as suspects on Friday,” he noted. The arrests of the five suspects were made eight days after the police conducted an investigation into the death of the primate found with some 130 air gun bullets in its body. “They are crop farmers and know that hurting orangutans is against the law. They shot the animal, as it had damaged their crops,” he noted.

However, the orangutan succumbed to serious injuries on Tuesday (Feb 2) at around 1:55 a.m. local time. A team of doctors was only able to remove 48 out of around 130 bullets found lodged mostly in the head of the animal during an operation that lasted from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. The economy has deteriorated further in recent weeks, with hard currency reserves falling to a 15-year low and less than three months’ worth.

Two buildings of elementary schools break down
Legislators deplore low commitment to advance education
NEGARA - Commission A of the Jembrana House of Representatives led by Secretary of Commission A, Ketut Sadwi Darmawan, together with the members consisting of Made Artini, Komang Adiyasa and Siti Ulfa, held a raid on Tuesday (Feb. 13) to elementary schools of SDN 7 Yehembang and SDN 2 Tegalcangkring, Mendoyo subdistrict. At the two schools the legislators found the buildings are collapsed on the roof due to porous lightweight steel. The legislators regretted the lack of commitment to advance education in Jembrana. “Related agencies should take quick response and do not just wait. Be proactive and all elements must be involved as the development must be done together,” said Sadwi Darmawan. Principal of SDN 7 Yehembang, Gusti Ayu Nilawati, accompanied by a number of teachers said the building made in 2008 has started to break down since a year ago. Moreover, it has been inspected by deputy regent of Jembrana. “It was broken last January 31, right on the full moon and when the students were praying. Until now, there has been indeed no handling,” added Gusti Ketut Cakra, another teacher. The building accommodates the fifth and sixth grade classrooms. It is prone to be broken down so that students are now studying in school health unit (UKS) room because the damaged building is emptied. Meanwhile, in SDN 2 Tegalcangkring, the roof of the building also collapsed comprising that of the principal as well as the fourth and fifth grade classroom. Principal of SDN 2 Tegalcangkring, Gusti Ngurah Suardana, said the roof of the building collapsed in December
2017. It has also been proposed to get school improvement. “However, we are told to wait as there will be a team to come down, but only the supervisory officer that came down. Our students are evacuated to the KKG meeting room,” he said. This school is said to be categorized into a core school. On that account, the KKG temporarily moved to SDN 5 Yehembang. Sadwi Darmawan accompanied by other legislators also said that all this time the district government of Jembrana declares the commitment to improve the quality of education. “However, in reality there are still damaged and broken school buildings. Moreover, there are even proposals that have not been addressed,” he said. In the future, it is necessary to study the use of lightweight steel hood for the construction of roof of the building because it easily becomes porous. “It has been porous before 6 or 10 years old. This must be well considered whether it is appropriate to be used in Jembrana or not. I think it is better to use wood again,” he explained. He regretted such lack of commitment. MANILA - Philippine attorney Jude Sabio says he hasn’t been home for a year, steers clear of public events and is forever looking over his shoulder after accusing President Rodrigo Duterte of crimes against humanity. Sabio, a stocky 51 year-old, says he lives in constant fear of reprisals after filing a complaint at the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the wildly popular Duterte, whose administration Filipinos rate as the best performing since opinion polls started in the 1980s. A little-known lawyer until he filed the complaint last April, Sabio argues that the deaths of thousands of Filipinos in a brutal war on drugs is Duterte’s method of controlling crime, and that he used the tactic effectively during his 22 years as the mayor of Davao City in the south of the country. Gokulnath Shetty and Manoj Kharat are suspected of steering fraudulent loans to companies linked to billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi and entities tied to jewellery retailer Gitanjali, which is led by Modi’s uncle, Mehul Choksi. India’s Income Tax department warned in an internal note seen by Reuters that domestic banks could take a hit of more than $3 billion from loans and corporate
guarantees provided to Modi and Choksi. The arrests, late on Friday, came two days after India’s secondlargest state-run lender said it had been hit by massive fraud, sending its share price tumbling. The accusations against the two relatively junior PNB officials were detailed in the lender’s disclosure, and also contained in a preliminary police report. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also arrested a third person, Hemant Bhat, whom a source described as the “authorised signatory” of the companies tied to Nirav Modi. All three appeared before a hot, packed courtroom in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon, where they
were ordered to remain under police custody until March 3 to allow the CBI to continue its investigation. Many spa businesses in South Kuta alleged to be unlicensed
MANGUPURA — Many spa businesses in the area of South Kuta are alleged to have not owned the permit. Such condition was revealed after municipal police team of South Kuta carried out a raid for several times.
Meanwhile, the ‘getting up in the morning’ operation held on Monday (Feb. 12) found there are 13 spa businesses that cannot present their permission. In the meantime, the businesses are only given coaching so as to immediately submit their respective permit. They are given tolerance for one month. Otherwise, they will be imposed with sanctions and will be on trial with misdemeanor claim. Squad Commander of South Kuta Municipal Police, Wayan Suharyana, when asked for his confirmation on Tuesday (Feb. 13) said that from the raid against the spa business carried out so far, the operation is estimated not to have reached 40 percent of the existing spa businesses in South Kuta area. From the spa business having been recorded, most of the licensed spa businesses are located on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai. Suharyana asserted that all businesses should have licensing documents. Without such licensing, the business concerned can be categorized to be illegal, and must be disciplined. His office hoped the related businesses to immediately submit their permission if they do not want to be disciplined. “We have boosted data collection and coaching for tourism supporting businesses since about a week ago. The final weekend of the Carnival in Nice includes a popular Bartenders Race, and the year’s Carnival King is burned in the sea on the last night, followed by a fantastic firework display. DENPASAR — A fire incident occurred in the Building Unit V of the Bali’s governor office on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 13). The incident was known around 17:30 local time exactly after the Open Plenary Meeting related to the drawing of the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor in a series of the Bali gubernatorial election 2018 held by Bali Electoral Commission (KPUD) in Wiswa Sabha Utama Building of gubernatorial office. Location of the building on fire is behind the Wiswa Sabha Building. Unit V consists of three floors. On the first floor sits the Press Room, Public Relations Bureau and BPD Bali Office. Then, on the second floor are the Legal and Human Rights Bureau, and the Government Bureau on the third floor. As seen on Tuesday, a thin white smoke came out of the building, especially from the third floor. Over time, the intensity of smoke was getting thicker and closed visibility. The color was changed into black, before finally emerging flames from the west side of the building.

When the smoke remained thin, some employees were seen standing outside Unit V with a panic face. One of the employees admitted that he just completed the work on the third floor before he finally went down and saw the fire on the second floor. On the third floor, he thought there was no fire source. Some of the employees from the first floor also seemed to save valuables such as cameras, computers, photo and video servers, as well as some photos. An employee of the Public Relations Bureau said that he had just started the computer in his office when he heard an employee shouting from upstairs. Before that, he already smelled something scorched. However, he did not find a source of fire on the first floor. When he wanted to bring a hydrant tube to extinguish the fire upstairs, his steps stopped on the second floor because the fire already enlarged. A fire truck just arrived few minutes after the incident. After that, a row of other fire trucks came along with water cannon. In total, there are about seven fire trucks from Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Denpasar, six from BPBD Badung district and two water cannon from Bali Police Mobile Brigade which were going back and forth to extinguish the fire. Until around 19:00 local time, they still looked to extinguish the fire on the third floor. Around 19:45, two fire trucks came from Klungkung district. So, as a whole there were 15 units of fire trucks and two units of water cannon involved in extinguishing the fire. Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, looked to visit the location when the officials tried to extinguish the fire. He guaranteed there are only a handful of archives in Unit V. The archives are said to be in a safe place at the Archives and Library of Bali Province. “The archives have been saved. They also have backup in the form of soft copy. Now, there is no longer in the form of a lot of paper,” he said. Pastika admitted that this incident was known late because most employees had already returned home. On the other
hand, the age of Building Unit V is also old enough because it was built around 1978 in the era of Governor Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra. He suspected the fire occurred due to electrical short circuit. It is not caused by other things such as sabotage because there was a drawing of serial number for the candidate pair of Bali gubernatorial election. “Do not think too far away, fire incident can happen everywhere. Similarly, our home can be on fire. Probably, it’s time to build a new building,” he explained. In addition to the governor, a number of officials in the Bali provincial government also visited the scene, ranging from the head of the agencies, regional secretary to the Deputy Governor I Ketut Sudikerta. Such incident also attracted the surrounding communities to watch closely the fire fighting process. Around 20:00 local time, the fire was no longer visible. From outside the building, it could be seen a pretty severe damage on the third floor. Head of the BPBD Denpasar, I.B. Joni Ariwibawa, said the fire could be totally extinguished around 20:30. His agency together with BPBD Badung also did the cooling and checking into the building. It just needed the checking by police authority to know the causes and losses experienced by the Bali provincial government. “If we look from outside, the most severe damages occurred on the third floor. The source of fire is still investigated by police, we do not know whether it was from the first, second or third floor,” he said.

DENPASAR - During a protest against the planned reclamation of Benao Bay that was held outside the gubernatorial office on Saturday (Feb.17), rock band Navicula played their song entitled law mafia: “The entrepreneurs have conspired with the authorities. They may be rich but they are lacking. The laws are engineered for the rich. The commoners become victims”. This protest was the latest in a series of innumerable others like it that included art and culture organized by ForBALI and the Association of Customary Villages (Pasubayan) Rejecting Benoa Bay Reclamation.
Navicula’s song Law Mafia is found on their compilation album entitle “Bali Gerak” which translates as “Bali Moves” but means something like Bali stands together. This album was released as a form of protest against the plan to backfill some 700 hectares in Benoa Bay.. “Presidential Regulation No.51/2014 was engineered to allow a conservation zone to

According to Robi, protesting against the planned reclamation of Benoa Bay is a struggle of conscience and does not violate the law because it is in line with the 1945 Constitution. Basic principles of the state have mandated three things related to development in Indonesia (including Bali): development projects must be based on the benefits, independence and sustainability. “Development in Indonesia must be based on the principle of benefit. This means that many people benefit, that their live;s benefit not just a few rulers, corporations or groups”, he explained. The principle of independence, continued Robi, in this case relates the coast as one of the Indonesia’s greatest assets because of the vast sea. The nation must protect all its assets – not only the sea but also the forest, its local policies as well as indigenous people. “The third guiding principle of development is sustainability, which of course includes preserving the environment”, he added. Gendo explained that August 25, 2018 is the deadline for the extension of the location permit issued by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to the investors of the reclamation project. If by August 25, the impact analysis of PT. TWBI has not been approved by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the location permit expires and the investors can no longer continue their planned reclamation of Benoa Bay. So far, PT. TWBI’s impact analysis has still not been approved because the socio-cultural impact criteria has not been met given that the local community and adjacent customary villages of Benoa Bay have clearly stated their disapproval of the proposed plan. “Legally, it should end (on August 25, 2018—Ed), but we do not know what other maneuvers might be played because base on our experience for the past 5 years there always seem to be ways for the ruler to provide an opportunities for the reclamation project”, he said. Gendo gave the example of Presidential Regulation No.45/2011declaring Benoa Bay as a conservation area having been revised with Presidential Regulation No.51/2014. This can serve a a political lesson for the people. People can see for themselves the behavior of their leaders in the face of investment -whether the ruler will be defeated by owners of capital or not. “If there are such maneuvers again, I am confident this will become a bad precedent in coastal and marine governance. Farmers at Subak Bekutel present banten pejati to reduce pest attack
Many paddy farmers today prefer to use chemically-based pesticides to repel pests from their crops. However, there are subak (irrigation cooperative) groups that still use traditional methods to prevent the spreads of pest that attack their paddy plants, including presenting banten pejati offerings at the temple adjacent to their farmlands. village, Susut, Bangli, I Wayan Tata, explained that in Subak Bekutal, the farmers conducted a notification ritual at Dugul and Masceta Temples that are located near their paddy fields. He said this tradition is a legacy that has been passed down from generation to generation. “When a pest attack hits the paddy fields, all our farmers present offerings in the notification ritual
at the two temples. We use banten pejati offerings. This ceremony is only held when there is a pest attack in the fields. Otherwise, we do not hold this ceremony”, he explained. According to Tata, the ceremony is meant to appeal to God whose manifestation abides in the temples asking that the pest attacks be reduced. Every new moon in December (tilem keenem) the farmers also
carry out the nangluk merana ceremony which serves a similar purpose of asking that the pest attacks be reduced so that the farmer’s paddy plant scan grow well. “Naturally pest will attack paddy fileds, however if we do the notification ritual and the nangluk merana ceremonies, there are less pests. We saw this just a few days ago, in Subak Bekutel where the paddy plants were being attacked
by mice and such. After doing the notification ritual at Dugul and Masceti Temples, there was a marled reduction on the amount of pest compared to before the ritual”, he said. Admittedly, many farmers in Bali prefer to use chemical pesticides as there are more practical and faster. Traditional ways of expelling pests are being abandoned. (nan)

Finns Sushi Bar’s dedicated menu is comprehensive without being overwhelming. Unlike many
sushi restaurants, it does not offer pages and pages of options to pour over, but a succinct selection of flavoursome and fresh food done well. Starters include light and fresh favourites for sharing such as edamame, gyoza and yakitori, as well as the must try menu item for fresh fish lovers - the Uzusukuri. Carpaccio style white fish is sliced impossibly thin, with flavours of the star ingredient accentuated by a delicately infused, truffle ponzu sauce. Ask the waitstaff about the possibility of adding some fresh wasabi (the real stuff mind you, not the grass green, horseradish paste we are all familiar with) and you are in for a visual feast
as well as a chance to treat your tastebuds and spare the sinuses! The wasabi (a root imported from Japan) is actually grated at your table using a traditional shark skin board. A bamboo brush carefully collects the residue of fresh paste and, after waiting five minutes for the complete kick of the wasabi to develop, just add it to your fish and experience the flavour sensation. Fresh wasabi still packs a punch. It’s strong and hot but without the lasting burn of horseradish and thankfully, minus an assault on your sinuses! But you need to indulge quickly, as the full, somewhat herbaceous flavours of this fresh condiment disappear after twenty minutes! The Signature Rolls at Finns Sushi Bar are almost too pretty to eat. Whether you’re a slave to social media or not, you’ll want to snap a pic of this before you sample it, however, one taste of their Dragon Roll and you’ll soon forgo any artistic appreciation for the sake of a screaming tummy! Portions are generous and prices reasonable but freshness and flavour are the real winners of each dish.
It gets even better! The food menu is complemented by a beverage list that includes a Sake selection comprehensive enough to make any serious souse stand up and say “Kanpai!” Having a distinctive style, sake may not be to everyone’s taste but I’ll bet my bento box you’ll really love Finns sake inspired cocktails! If you like your martinis, why not try their Saketini - a mix of chilled vodka, sake and cucumber. Cool as! All sakes are available by the bottle, with a decent selection also available by the glass. BERLIN - French actress Isabelle Huppert said on Saturday she was pleased that women were speaking up about their experiences of sexual abuse and harassment after staying silent for so long. Huppert, who has starred in more than 100 films, was speaking at the Berlin film festival, where a movie called “Eva” in which she plays a high-class prostitute is premiering. There is a growing debate on sexual harassment driven by the #MeToo movement on social media and Time’s Up, launched by more than 300 Hollywood industry figures in January in response to sexual assault and harassment allegations against powerful men in entertainment, politics and other fields. “I have looked on everything that has happened with this movement with a lot of sympathy and hope because it’s so long that all this stuff should have been said and it finally has been said for the last few months,” Huppert said. “And that’s been one of the reasons why I’ve been doing cinema - to speak of women in a certain way - and personally speaking I’m very happy that some things have finally been brought out into the open, definitively I hope,” she added. French actress Catherine Deneuve and 99 other French women signed a column in Le Monde in January saying the #MeToo campaign had gone too far and was fuelled by a “hatred of men”.
But the movement is in the limelight at this year’s Berlinale - several discussion events are being held, guests can visit a counselling corner, and festival director Dieter Kosslick has said some films were cut from the programme due to sexual abuse allegations against people involved. On Saturday, European film industry workers launched a campaign called “Speak Up!” to try to put an end to sexual harassment and abuse being tolerated in workplaces. It encourages people to point out incidents of sexism, harassment and abuse of power and wants to ensure businesses know what inappropriate behaviour and sexual misconduct is. “Eva” is one of 19 films competing for the Berlinale’s Golden and Silver Bears to be handed out on Feb. 24. Directed by Benoit Jacquot, it tells the story of young man called Bertrand who shoots to fame with a manuscript he stole from a dead writer. Bertrand is under pressure to write a second piece that will enjoy the same kind of success so when he meets the attractive yet distant Eva he begins transcribing their conversations to form the basis of his next literary work. DUBAI - All 66 passengers and crew were believed to have been killed in a plane crash in central Iran on Sunday, an airline spokesman said, after the domestic flight came down in bad weather in a mountainous region. Operated by Iranian carrier Aseman Airlines, the plane crashed near the town of Semirom after taking off from Tehran’s Mehrabad airport, news agency ISNA quoted emergency services spokesman Mojtaba Khaledi as saying. The ATR-made plane was on a flight to the southwestern city of Yasuj and a spokesman for the airline said there were 60 passengers and six crew aboard. “All... on board were unfortunately killed,” Aseman spokesman Mohammad Taqi Tabatabai told state television. Rescue helicopters were unable to land at the probable crash site because of heavy fog and emergency workers were searching the mountainous area
