John Legend weds model Chrissy Teigen in Italy
Associated Press Writer
NEW YORK — John Legend is officially off the market. The R&B crooner’s representative says Legend married model Chrissy Teigen on Saturday at the Villa Pizzo in Lake Como, Italy. Legend, 34, and Teigen, 27, were engaged in 2011. Legend has won nine Grammy Awards. He released his fourth solo album, “Love In the Future,” last week. Teigen has modeled for Sports Illustrated and is the host of the Vh1 reality competition show, “Model Employee.” She also has a food blog. Legend will launch a U.S. tour next month.
The new owner of the 114-year-old Metropolitan Theater in Iowa Falls had known Jackman for years, and recalled how the Australian actor called him a few months ago to express appreciation for his efforts to restore the famed but rundown theater. “He said, ‘You know, as I grew up in Australia, every little town had a movie theater.’ He said, ‘What happens is, cities start getting the bigger theaters and little towns start losing their theaters.’ He said, ‘I’m so glad that you’re (restoring), because every little community should have a theater.’” Jackman told Whitesell he’d like to visit the theater, which is nestled between several businesses on one of Iowa Falls’ main roads. A few months later, Whitesell — whose adult son is Jackman’s agent — got the green light that Jackman’s Sept. 21 visit would be part of a promotional tour for his new film, “Prisoners.” His other recent film, “The Wolverine,” will play in the building’s second, smaller theater. Jackman will give introductions before the start of each film. “Everyone’s walking around pretty shocked,” said Mark Hamilton, the theater’s publicist. “This is quite big news for people here.” Iowa Falls is a city of about 5,000 people, 60 miles (100 kilometers) north of Des Moines. The theater, built in 1899, originally housed a grand opera house that featured performers like actor Otis Skinner and composer John Philip Sousa. Known first as the Metropolitan Opera House, it was converted into a movie theater around the 1950s and is listed on

the National Register of Historic Places. “It is the dominant thing on main street,” Hamilton said. “It’s a gorgeous building.” The three-story building has multiple stainedglass windows inside, as well as chandeliers and a lobby mural that once graced the ceiling of the original opera house theater. There’s a ballroom on the top floor. After a renovation in 1993, various people managed the building. Whitesell, a retired attorney from Iowa Falls, had admired the building for decades. So he bought it out of bankruptcy in May. While it had remained open, the theater had fallen into disarray over the years. “I kept thinking, ‘I can’t let the theater go down like that,’” he said.

DENPASAR - The Indonesian National Police Headquarters will fully provide support and maintain security in Bali during the holding of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the province next month. “The Police Headquarters will provide full support both in terms of equipment and personnel,” National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo said during a coordination meeting for the holding of the APEC summit here on Sunday. The national police chief said his side would provide assistance for the Bali Regional Police in the form of facilities and other means, including security equipment
and personnel. But he did not give details on the number of police personnel which would be deployed from the National Police Headquarters. “We do not talk about total personnel but no matter how many personnel needed, we will prepare for it,” he said. The police chief called on the people, including groups of people who are opposed to the holding of the summit, to support the
event because it symbolized the trust given to Indonesia to host the summit, where delegates from 21 member countries are expected to take part. “This is a form of trust given to Indonesia to host the summit. We hope the public would know this and would support it,” he added. The APEC Summit is expected to be attended by leaders of 21 world economies. Heads of state who have confirmed participation in the Bali summit included US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. In the meantime, former Taiwanese vice president Lien Chan has confirmed he will represent Taiwan at the APEC Summit.
Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Director of Intra-Regional Cooperation in Asia-Pacific and Africa, Arto Suryodipuro, said at a press conference on Friday that Lien Chan will attend the APEC Leaders Summit on behalf of Taiwan, which is one of the APEC economies. “Except for Chinese-Taipei (Taiwan), we have received confirmations from other nations’ leaders. Taiwan has appointed former vice president Lien Chan to represent their leader,” he said. Lien Chan served as vice president from 1996 to 2000 and represented Taiwan at the APEC Summit 2008.
