Chris Brown suffers seizure from emotional stress Associated Press Writer
LOS ANGELES — Grammy-winner Chris Brown has suffered a seizure brought on by intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, his publicist said Saturday. The “Look At Me Now” singer suffered a nonepileptic seizure early Friday morning while he was working in a Los Angeles studio, Nicole Perna said by email. Perna said Brown’s doctor attributes the episode to “intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity.” The doctor examined the 24-year-old but he wasn’t hospitalized. The singer has been on felony probation since the 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown has been in and out of court since the Rihanna assault, making reports on fulfilling the requirements of his five-year supervised probation term. A judge revoked his probation last month and ordered a hearing in a May 12 hit-and-run case, in which he is suspected of rear-ending a car stopped at a red light in the San Fernando Valley. Brown allegedly refused to give the other
driver his license or insurance information. The driver of the other car said Brown was polite at first, but a confrontation arose after she kept demanding identification. The woman said she took a picture of Brown and a passenger, “and then they went ballistic,” shouting expletives and grabbing at her camera before speeding off. The woman said she didn’t know who Brown was until a friend called and told her about an online report of the incident. In February, the Sheriff’s Department investigated a fight between Brown and singer Frank Ocean at a recording studio, but Ocean declined to pursue a battery case against Brown. The same month, Brown crashed his Porsche while being chased by paparazzi. Brown won a Grammy in 2011 for Best R&B Album with “F.A.M.E.”

DENPASAR - Seasonal migrants or the urbanite from outside Bali went home to their own village during the Eid al-Fitr festivity. Most of them lived and worked in Bali. For Balinese people, the existence of those seasonal migrants sometimes help them in undertaking the trade activities, construction, sales and other jobs. The seasonal migrants from outside Bali dominated by Javanese make most of job opportunities that are not taken by local people of Bali a fertile field for them. Balinese community seems reluctant to take certain job opportunities. People still prefer to take certain types of job and ignore the existing opportunities that should be taken, so that they were taken by migrants from outside Bali. The urbanite tends to take informal sector, while Balinese society still prefers to take formal sector. Some job opportunities in informal sector are traders of meatball, satay and fresh salad with fried chicken or fish, denoting a favorite delicacy in Indonesia. In Bali, these job opportunities are taken by those of Javanese ethnic having mental
immune and do not hesitate to sell culinary products like meatballs, satay and fresh salad. Up to now, the opportunity to sell these foods across Bali is almost dominated by Javanese. We should begin to think and open our eyes so there is an axiom ‘Balinese sells land to buy meatballs, while Javanese sells meatballs to buy land.’
Ida Ayu Alit Laksmiwati, a lecturer of demographic anthropology, said there should be a synergy between the local government and the government where the urbanite came from so that it could suppress the excessive arrival of the urbanite. She confirmed that a good mutual cooperation among the local governments could reduce the number of excessive increase in the population and opened up job opportunities to be taken advantage by local workers. The increasing number of the urbanite each year would result in various impacts on their destination such as crime, slums, unemployment and poverty. As a real example in the field, many human resources of Bali worked as hotel employees, while the hotel owner or manager came from outside Bali. Such phenomena should be considered together and native residents should rise up and become the leader and king in their own region. (dgk)

Thousands of pilgrims throng Goa Lawah Temple
Sarasvati feast was an important moment for Balinese Hindus. Celebration of the descent of the Vedas as the Hindu scriptures was filled with the implementation of belief and devotion by carrying prayers to a number of sad kahyangan and kahyangan jagat temples in Klungkung. As seen in the Goa Lawah on Saturday (Aug 10), thousands of pilgrims from across Bali thronged the temple used to venerate Lord Maheswara. An officer of the temple, Putu Juliadi, said last Saturday that pilgrims started booming from the morning. As consequence, the traffic at Karangasem - Klungkung road section was crowded and moved slowly. Even, by the midday more and more pilgrims occupied the
parking lots around the temple. Putu Juliadi estimated if it would happen until the evening. “Booming pilgrims have become a common sight in the Goa Lawah Temple, especially during religious holidays such as Sarasvati, Shivaratri and others,” he said. According to him, it indicated the rising awareness of the Hindus in enhancing their belief and devotion to God. However, his party hoped the rising awareness of the devotees should be balanced with the implementation of religious teachings that reflected a religious man. He said it was necessary to be reminded in order that people’s emotional intelligence would not be getting degraded by the habitual behavior that did not reflect the religious man. (kmb31)

Tourism villages in Badung beautified
Two tourism villages in Badung County namely Kiadan and Pangsan will be beautified. Badung government allocates hundreds of millions of rupiahs for the arrangement and development of the two tourism villages located in Petang subdistrict. The project under supervision of the Badung Tourism Agency is under tender process in the Badung Electronic Procurement System (LPSE). Estimated value of the project reaches IDR 289 million. Spokesperson of the Badung government, AA Raka Yuda, recently said the arrangement and development project of the rural tourism was the continuation of the previous project existing in Badung County. Last year, a number of
arrangements to rural tourism were also performed such as to Sangeh village. It aimed at preparing adequate facilities and infrastructure in the tourist objects across the Badung County. Especially for Pangsan village, the Badung government would build a number of facilities and infrastructure such as gazebo, restrooms and road hardening, especially in the tracking rate. Meanwhile, at Pangsan would be performed a repair to tracking path and the making of stage for presenting typical local tourist attraction. Further, he said that other than tourism village, a number of tourist attractions would also be arranged such as the outside area of the Uluwatu tourist attraction as well as the construction of toilets in a number of tourist attractions. The Gerbang Samudra 2 Passenger Motor Vehicle (KMP) ran aground in the waters about half a mile from the pier. The vessel was sailing from Ketapang Harbor around 09:00 a.m. Since the voyage from Ketapang to the waters of Gilimanuk, the vessel had no problem. However, when approaching the moving bridge of pier 1 at Gilimanuk, it was blown by quite strong wind. Such conditions caused the vessel boarded by hundreds of passengers to be swept away. Captain Lauma, the vessel’s skipper, had difficulty to sail against the currents when moving and berthing at the pier. At approximately 9:45 a.m., the vessel was swept away and could just be stopped after the wheel was stuck in the lighting tower at approximately half a mile from the pier. Based on information, other than carrying 148 adult passengers, the vessel was also carrying 58 children. Meanwhile, the vehicle freight was fully occupied by private vehicles consisting of 13 private cars, a pickup truck and 42 motorcycles. Unluckily, such an effort did not work where the vessel remained afloat and could not move. Additionally, it did not release the anchor because it was worried to make it stuck in the shipyard lighting. Having found the Gerbang Samudra 2 vessel ran aground, the Jembrana Marine Police directly came down to location by boat. Since the vessel was long stuck, it was then decided to evacuate the passengers by using rubber boat of SAR team and rescue boat of Marine Police. Operations Division Head of Jembrana Marine Police, Nengah Gelgel, said the evacuation was meant to calm down the passengers and anticipate something worse to happen. A number of passengers were dropped through the vessel side door. The officers gave priority to children and women. The evacuation was quite stressful and some children even cried as being afraid. One of the passengers, Nurhayati, looked panic even though she had been calmed down by the officials. She claimed to be panic because it
was too long afloat and knew if the vessel ran aground. The passengers evacuated by rubber boat of SAR were dropped at the freight pier, while those carried by boat were dropped at the pier at Gilimanuk Bay. Afterward, they were delivered to the harbor by using bus owned by the IX/Udayana Military Regional Command at the scene. The harbor authority (ASDP) then gathered the evacuated passengers in the VIP lounge while waiting for the evacuation of the vessel. The process of passenger evacuation was carried out for several times using two boats. Besides, the ASDP also provided them with lunch. Up to Saturday afternoon, the vessel still ran aground because the vessel was still stuck and needed a diving to release the wheel. The officers were also still waiting for high tide in order to facilitate the vessel evacuation. Apparently, it needed a tugboat to pull the vessel. Operations Manager of the ASDP Gilimanuk, Wahyudi Susianto, said the vessel ran aground due to strong winds. Evacuation of the passengers was done first, while the vehicles were still on board until the vessel could be evacuated to the pier. (kmb26)

Ayana’s farm is located on 32 hectares of land in Bon Village, Central Bali, some 75 kilometers from Jimbaran. Aside from albesia, which is widely used in reforestation programs as it grows to full maturity within five years, the farm also produces pineapples and oranges and wild kopi luwak coffee beans, which are offered on Ayana’s menus. In addition to the 40,000 trees at the farm, 10,000 albesia trees, tropical trees and fruit plants have been planted in the gardens surrounding Rimba at Ayana’s 77-hectare property in Jimbaran. Rimba has an on-site greenhouse, organic fruit and vegetable garden and large herb garden which will supply ingredients for its state-ofthe-art Cooking School.
Balinese Temple Ceremony Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

Hundreds at funeral for brothers killed by python

CAMPBELLTON, New Brunswick — Hundreds of people attended the funeral service Saturday for two brothers who were killed by a python while they slept at a friend’s home above an exotic pet store. Four-year-old Noah Barthe and his 6-year-old brother Connor were eulogized during the service at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Campbellton, New Brunswick. Campbellton Deputy Mayor Ion Comeau said the family decided that the brothers would be buried together in a single casket. The two boys were found dead Monday morning after a 100-pound (45-kilogram) African rock python escaped its enclosure in the apartment where they were staying. Police say the snake slithered through a ventilation system located above its tank and fell through the ceiling into the living room where the boys slept. Preliminary autopsy results show the boys were asphyxiated by the python. The Rev. Maurice Frenette told
the boys’ parents, Mandy Trecartin and Andrew Barthe, that their lives have been changed forever in ways no one else can imagine. “We all try to understand the best we can, but you know, no one here can feel what you feel. But I am sure that everyone here feels for you, for what you are going through,” he said. Questions still surround the circumstances of the boys’ deaths, but before the service Frenette said the funeral was a time to help the family. “We’re not here today to make any judgment or to try to find an answer to the inquiry, but we are here to take a pause and to be with the family,” he said. “Today we want to basically be there for them and tell them of all the love we will try to share with them during this
time of sorrow.” In front of the altar was a photo of the two boys, their heads leaning against each other with broad smiles on their faces. The boys were remembered for their love of video games, playing outdoors and the differences in their personalities. Winfrey earned $77 million in the year ending in June, according to Forbes magazine. “She said: ‘No, no, no, you don’t want to see that one. You want to see this one. He said more and more people
from China came to Bali to enjoy its unique arts and culture and natural panorama. A a total of 187,633 people from China came to Bali in the first semester this year rising 15.09 percent from 163,030 in the same period
last year. He said China contributed 12.57 percent of total foreign tourists to Bali reaching 1.49 million in the first six months of this year. The Bali provincial administration expects the number of tourists from
China would increase to 400,000 this year or by 10 percent from 300,000 last year. The target is set based on the estimate from the Chinese Consulate General in Surabaya, East Java, that one million Chinese tourists would come to Bali this year. The number is actually very small compared to the total number of Chinese conducting overseas trips every year that reaches 75 million.
Bali meanwhile has set a target of receiving up to 2.28 million tourists this year, which is lower than last year’s realization of only 2.94 million. It is optimistic though that it would be achieved because the realization until the end of the first semester has reached 1.49 million. Bali has increased promotion efforts to potential sources of foreign tourists such as China, Suarsa said.

He noted that although the departure terminal was crowded with returning travelers, the number of passengers arriving at the
domestic arrival terminal was also high. Data from the airport command post indicated that the flow of returning holiday travelers began to increase on Friday, as domestic passengers leaving from the airport reaching 13,732 travelers. “They were transported by 110 airplanes, including three additional planes,” Ketut said, adding that the number of passengers rose by 28 percent, compared to the same period last year, which reached 10,705 people. He added that returning holiday travelers left Ngurah Rai airport for Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung.

The awareness of Bangli community to obey traffic signs seems still very low. It is visible from a number of vehicles parked on the edge of Kintamani-Penelokan road section. Even though several traffic signs such as the stop and no-parking signs have been installed, quite a few visitors ignore and deliberately park their vehicles at the location. Even, the vehicles are parked right under the traffic signs.
As observation on Saturday (Aug 10), a number of tourists making a visit to enjoy the beautiful panorama of mountains from the distance parked their vehicle in front of the cave whereas the stop and no-parking traffic signs were very clearly seen to have been installed at the location. Other than motorcycles, cars were also parked there.
One of the local traders, Putu Sudiani, said that vehicles were frequently parked under the traffic signs and had become a common sight. Not only motorcycles, cars were even lined up under the traffic signs. She said the vehicles parked at the location were mostly belonging to travelers that deliberately stopped to enjoy the view of Mount Batur, while the rest belonged to
local residents. According to her, the traffic sign violations frequently occurred when there were no officers on guard. “If there are no officers, many vehicles are parked there,” said the provider of temporary tattoo services. She added the area was rarely guarded by the officers. By and large, they were only on duty until 3:00 p.m. (ina)
The market at Bondalem village, Tejakula subdistrict, caught fire on Friday (Aug 9) around 12:30 a.m. A total of 14 kiosks and 7 shanties of traders absolutely burned. Total loss was estimated to reach IDR 600 million. Information at location told the fire broke out when the market was open. It first appeared in one of the trader’s kiosks. Then, it enlarged and burned the entire market. Assisted by local residents, the traders evacuated their belongings but since the fire continued to grow, the evacuation of goods failed to do. The fire could be extinguished about an hour after the incident. The extinction was carried out by deploying four units of fire brigade from additional post in Kubutambahan and main post in Singaraja town. A total of 46 kiosks existed in the market and 154 traders did selling in the market. Of the 46 kiosks, 14 units of them were scorched. Meanwhile, of the 154 traders selling in the market, only 7 traders whose merchandise were on fire. Chief of Buleleng Fire Brigade, Pasek Sujendra, said his
party received a report and immediately mobilized fire trucks. When they arrived at location, the fire had been huge. Fortunately, it could be extinguished so that they did not burn all the kiosks and merchandise in the market. Meanwhile, the local market management explained the source of the fire was not yet known for sure. Nevertheless, the fire was suspected to happen due to short-circuit of power lines in the area of the market. Afterward, management of the village market immediately made coordination meeting with local village officials to find out a temporary selling location after the Bondalem Market caught fire. Operations Division Head of the Buleleng Police, Ida Bagus Wedanajati, said his party could not ascertain the cause of fire. The officers of Tejakula Police had investigated the incident by examining a number of witnesses. MEXICO CITY — Central America is on track to have one of its worst years ever for the painful, sometimes fatal disease of dengue, prompting governments across the region to mobilize against the mosquito-borne virus. There have been 120,000 suspected cases of dengue reported across Central America so far in the season, which is roughly June to November, when the rains make it optimal for mosquito breeding. The number of cases already is about to surpass the total for all of 2012 in the seven countries from Guatemala to Panama. At least 39 people have died so far, more than the 32 for all of 2012. The disease is endemic to the region, but cases tend to surge every three to five years, and the Pan-American Health Organization says this year’s looks unusually bad. Perhaps the worst major outbreak in the Americas was in 2010, when 132 people in Central America died. Honduras and El Salvador have declared health emergencies to channel extra funds and efforts to prevent the spread of the disease. Other nations are also sending teams of workers across villages and cities to squirt bursts of insecticide at puddles and to lecture citizens against leaving standing water where mosquitoes can breed. “They’re involving people from public health, police and soldiers. It’s an all-out effort to fight the effects of the epidemic,” said Vilma Areas, spokeswoman for the Nicaraguan Health Ministry. At least 17 people have died in Honduras, where more than half the municipalities have registered dengue cases.

BUENOS AIRES - Argentine President Cristina Fernandez faces a mid-term primary election test on Sunday that will show whether she has enough popular support to push for a constitutional change allowing her to run for a third term in 2015. Candidates for legislative elections in October will be chosen in Sunday’s open primary but, with no competition among candidates on the lists presented by each party, it serves more as a survey on Fernandez’s six years in power. The left-wing leader has delivered steady economic growth and was easily re-elected two years ago. But heavy government spending has fueled annual inflation to over 20 percent, and her combative style has upset investors and many voters in Latin America’s third-biggest economy. Fernandez, 60, says she is not thinking about a possible third term but talk persists that her congressional allies want the constitution changed to allow her to run again. For that to happen, Fernandez would have to increase her control of Congress in October, when half the seats in the lower house will be up for grabs along with a third of the Senate. He hoped the leader of Bali could wisely address the polemic related to the reclamation plan and did not impose the will because when the reclamation was imposed the leader would deal with the rejection from Balinese community and the political risk was very high. “Similarly, the investors may not impose their will and should be open to the public,” he said. Further, Ngurah Wirawan reminded the importance of alerting Bali as the haven of investment based on money laundering and the importance of
evaluating the level of investment. Chairman of the LPPM of the Warmadewa University, Dr. I Gusti Bagus Udayana, highlighted the rise of property investment targeting the productive lands in Bali that kindled massive land conversion. As a result, the farmland diminished and food security would get disturbed. Even, it was suspected there was a practice of money laundering-based investment proliferating to rural areas where the employers purchased productive lands so that they would later be converted into properties such as villas. “This condition will cause people to lose their land,” he explained. BAMAKO, Mali — Voters trudged through red muddy roads in Mali’s rainy capital Sunday to choose their next president, a leader who will be tasked with reconciling the country after a coup, separatist rebellion and an Islamic insurgency unraveled one of West Africa’s most stable democracies. The presidential runoff vote between former Prime Minister Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and former Finance Minister Soumaila Cisse is aimed at unlocking some $4 billion in aid that has been promised to help Mali recover. The funds, though, are contingent on a democratically elected government being in place. Keita, known by his initials “IBK,” has run on a campaign of restoring Mali’s honor after a French-led military operation forced the jihadists into the desert earlier this year and paved the way for the Malian military to return to the northern cities it had fled in the wake of the 2012 Tuareg rebellion. Among the first voters in line at one Bamako polling station was Amara Traore, 65, whose orange boubou — a traditional robe — stood out in the early morning rains Sunday in Bamako. “I’ve been here since 6:30 a.m. with great joy, despite the rain, to elect a president who can better lead the country,” said Traore, who was backing Keita. “We are tired of this crisis and the insecurity we have been living with.” Turnout in the first round of voting was nearly 50 percent, though in the northern provincial capital of Kidal where rebel flags still fly, it was a mere 12 percent. Separatist sentiment there remains high, though some within the National Movement for the Liberation of the Azawad had endorsed Keita because of his promise to hold a national dialogue on the crisis there. The presidential election is the first since the separatist Tuareg rebellion in northern Mali in early 2012 sparked anger within the military and led to a March 2012 coup that overthrew longtime President Amadou Toumani Toure. One Indian border guard was wounded after Pakistan Rangers opened fire on a post in Kanachak, some 40 km (25 miles) southwest of Jammu, the winter capital of India’s Jammu and Kashmir state, the Border Security Force said. “It was an unprovoked firing on an International Border post from the other side. However, we responded with utmost restraint,” a spokesman of the Border Security Force said. There was no immediate comment from Islamabad. Tensions along the 740-km Line of Control that divides Kashmir rose on Tuesday when an Indian army patrol was ambushed and five soldiers killed in the Poonch region. The cow, however, was crushed to death under one of the Boeing 737-900’s middle wheels, head of Jalaluddin airport Agus Pramuka told AFP. The pilot, Iwan Permadi, told state-run Antara news agency he could smell “burning meat” as the jet ran over the animal. He said he thought there were dogs in front of the plane as it came into land, “but it turned out there were three cows wandering in the middle of the runway”. Pictures showed the dead cow under the aircraft’s wheel in a field. The plane, which suffered minor damage, had skidded into the field
next to the runway, with its tail still on the runway. All the passengers managed to disembark safely, transport ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan told AFP. The plane had started its journey in Jakarta and also had a stopover in Makassar, on Sulawesi, according to local media. The airport was closed following the incident, disrupting travel plans for people heading home for the Eid al-Fitr holiday in Muslim-majority Indonesia. One small jet managed to take off Wednesday, but the Lion Air plane was still at the edge of the runway, Pramuka said. Indonesia, which relies heavily on air transport to connect its more than 17,000 islands, has one of Asia’s worst aviation safety records. In April, a Lion Air passenger jet carrying 108 people crashed into the sea after missing the runway as it came into land on the resort island of Bali. No one died but dozens were injured. Lion Air could not be immediately reached for comment.
THE HAGUE - The Dutch government said Thursday that it had compensated 10 women whose husbands were executed by its army between 1946 and 1947 on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. In a statement released in The Hague, the Dutch state said it will also publicly apologise for the crimes. “Ten widows have received compensation for the executions of their husbands by the Dutch military,” said the statement. “The ambassador of the Netherlands, on behalf of the state, will present apologies for the summary executions,” it added. The move brings to an end a battle for justice for relatives of the victims. On December 20, 2011, lawyer Liesbeth Zegveld said that the widows were seeking justice for the deaths of their husbands. It was not possible to bring criminal proceedings as the crimes took place too far back. Stefan Bradl is confident the progress he showed during MotoGP’s USA Grand Prix at Laguna Seca was no aberration. The 23-year-old German followed up a maiden pole in the premier class by clinching his first podium, coming home just 2.2 seconds adrift of winner Marc Marquez. Bradl, who beat Marquez to the 2011 Moto2 crown, said such form was not simply a flash in the pan but rather the culmination of gradual but discernible progress with the satellite LCR Honda squad. “It was a fantastic result for us. All over the weekend we [were] really fast, [and] I was able to push every lap,” Bradl said. “I was able to make the pole position, [which is] a great sign that we have good pace. “In the last two or three races we could see that we are progressing better and better, coming closer to the podium. “Finally [we made] it happen. The pressure was high [starting] from pole, but I was cool enough to make a good start, to push from the beginning. “Hopefully the first podium is the most difficult, [and] the next one will come easier.” Bradl said his first rostrum also strengthened his position at LCR, following his own revelation that he does not have a deal in place for 2014. “For the future, for the team and for [team boss] Lucio [Cecchinello] it’s important,” Bradl said. “I’m happy for them. WASHINGTON — Even with a recovering Frank Lampard, Chelsea looks potent heading into the English Premier League season. Lampard and Romelu Lukaku scored in the second half to lead Chelsea to a 2-1 victory over Roma in the final friendly of its pre-season American tour before its Aug. 18 opener at Hull City. Lampard, who has been recovering from an Achilles injury this summer, scored on a 20-yard strike inside the left post to level the score in the 61st minute after Eric Lamela’s opportunistic 21st minute goal put Roma ahead. “I find it hard to put a percentage on it,” Lampard, the club’s all-time leading scorer, said of his fitness. “I feel good. We’ve had a good, strong preseason now, lots of games, lots of training. I think we’re ready. We’ll be ready next week.” The Blues won all three of their friendlies against Italian clubs in the United States, defeating Inter Milan and AC Milan earlier this month before falling 3-1 to Real Madrid on Wednesday. PARIS — Monaco’s expensively assembled side left it late but earned a 2-0 win at Bordeaux in the French league on Saturday, as star signing Radamel Falcao scored on his debut. Stefan Bradl says Laguna Seca progress is real

Stefan Bradl is confident the progress he showed during MotoGP’s USA Grand Prix at Laguna Seca was no aberration. The 23-year-old German followed up a maiden pole in the premier class by clinching his first podium, coming home just 2.2 seconds adrift of winner Marc Marquez. Bradl, who beat Marquez to the 2011 Moto2 crown, said such form was not simply a flash in the pan but rather the culmination of gradual but discernible progress with the satellite LCR Honda squad. “It was a fantastic result for us. All over the weekend we [were] really fast, [and] I was able to push every lap,” Bradl said. “I was able to make the pole position, [which is] a great sign that we have good pace. “In the last two or three races we could see that we are progressing better and better, coming closer to the podium. “Finally [we made] it happen. The pressure was high [starting] from pole, but I was cool enough to make a good start, to push from the beginning. “Hopefully the first podium is the most difficult, [and] the next one will come easier.” Bradl said his first rostrum also strengthened his position at LCR, following his own revelation that he does not have a deal in place for 2014. “For the future, for the team and for [team boss] Lucio [Cecchinello] it’s important,” Bradl said. “I’m happy for them. They did a great job as well, and support me so well.”

BAMAKO, Mali — Voters trudged through red muddy roads in Mali’s rainy capital Sunday to choose their next president, a leader who will be tasked with reconciling the country after a coup, separatist rebellion and an Islamic insurgency unraveled one of West Africa’s most stable democracies. The presidential runoff vote between former Prime Minister Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and former Finance Minister Soumaila Cisse is aimed at unlocking some $4 billion in aid that has been promised to help Mali recover. The funds, though, are contingent on a democratically elected government being in place. Keita, known by his initials “IBK,” has run on a campaign of restoring Mali’s honor after a French-led military operation forced the jihadists into the desert earlier this year and paved the way for the Malian military to return to the northern cities it had fled in the wake of the 2012 Tuareg rebellion. Among the first voters in line at one Bamako polling station was Amara Traore, 65, whose orange boubou — a traditional robe — stood out in the early morning rains Sunday in Bamako. “I’ve been here since 6:30 a.m. with great joy, despite the rain, to elect a president who can better lead the country,” said Traore, who was backing Keita. “We are tired of this crisis and the insecurity we have been living with.” Turnout in the first round of voting was nearly 50 percent, though in the northern provincial capital of Kidal where rebel flags still fly, it was a mere 12 percent. Separatist sentiment there remains high, though some within the National Movement for the Liberation of the Azawad had endorsed Keita because of his promise to hold a national dialogue on the crisis there. Heavy rains kept many polling stations from opening on time Sunday in the capital of Bamako. “There’s a possibility the governor of Bamako will extend the polling stations’ closing hours if he deems it necessary,” said Issaga Kampo, vice president of the National Independent Electoral Commission. In the first round of voting, technical glitches kept many from casting ballots. Voters showed up at polling stations only to find their names were not on the list. Others encountered difficulties obtaining their voting cards ahead of the July 28 first-round ballot. The presidential election is the first since the separatist Tuareg rebellion in northern Mali in early 2012 sparked anger within the military and led to a March 2012 coup that overthrew longtime President Amadou Toumani Toure. The chaotic aftermath allowed the separatists, and later Islamic extremists linked to al-Qaida, to grab control of northern Mali, an area the size of France.

One Indian border guard was wounded after Pakistan Rangers opened fire on a post in Kanachak, some 40 km (25 miles) southwest of Jammu, the winter capital of India’s Jammu and Kashmir state, the Border Security Force said. “It was an unprovoked firing on an International Border post from the other side. However, we responded with utmost restraint,” a spokesman of the Border Security Force said. There was no immediate comment from Islamabad. Tensions along the 740-km Line of Control that divides Kashmir rose on Tuesday when an Indian army patrol was ambushed and five soldiers killed in the Poonch region. The pilot, Iwan Permadi, told state-run Antara news agency he could smell “burning meat” as the jet ran over the animal. He said he thought there were dogs in front of the plane as it came into land, “but it turned out there were three cows wandering in the middle of the runway”. In April, a Lion Air passenger jet carrying 108 people crashed into the sea after missing the runway as it came into land on the resort island of Bali. No one died but dozens were injured. THE HAGUE - The Dutch government said Thursday that it had compensated 10 women whose husbands were executed by its army between 1946 and 1947 on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. In a statement released in The Hague, the Dutch state said it will also publicly apologise for the crimes. “Ten widows have received compensation for the executions of their husbands by the Dutch military,” said the statement. “The ambassador of the Netherlands, on behalf of the state, will present apologies for the summary executions,” it added. The move brings to an end a battle for justice for relatives of the victims. On December 20, 2011, lawyer Liesbeth Zegveld said that the widows were seeking justice for the deaths of their husbands. It was not possible to bring criminal proceedings as the crimes took place too far back. Unfortunately, they all huddle in Southern Bali, while the carrying capacity and supporting capacity has been exceeded. When the investment is constantly enforced in Southern Bali, then the gap will be increasingly wider and Southern Bali will be more crowded and congested. Indeed, it is the investor having the money, but it does not necessarily mean that all desires of the investor must be accommodated without paying attention to the carrying capacity of Bali and suitability of the investment with spatial planning. The awareness of Bangli community to obey traffic signs seems still very low. It is visible from a number of vehicles parked on the edge of Kintamani-Penelokan road section. Even though several traffic signs such as the stop and no-parking signs have been installed, quite a few visitors ignore and deliberately park their vehicles at the location. Even, the vehicles are parked right under the traffic signs.
As observation on Saturday (Aug 10), a number of tourists making a visit to enjoy the beautiful panorama of mountains from the distance parked their vehicle in front of the cave whereas the stop and no-parking traffic signs were very clearly seen to have been installed at the location. Other than motorcycles, cars were also parked there.
One of the local traders, Putu Sudiani, said that vehicles were frequently parked under the traffic signs and had become a common sight. Not only motorcycles, cars were even lined up under the traffic signs. She said the vehicles parked at the location were mostly belonging to travelers that deliberately stopped to enjoy the view of Mount Batur, while the rest belonged to
local residents. According to her, the traffic sign violations frequently occurred when there were no officers on guard. “If there are no officers, many vehicles are parked there,” said the provider of temporary tattoo services. She added the area was rarely guarded by the officers. By and large, they were only on duty until 3:00 p.m. (ina)
The market at Bondalem village, Tejakula subdistrict, caught fire on Friday (Aug 9) around 12:30 a.m. A total of 14 kiosks and 7 shanties of traders absolutely burned. Total loss was estimated to reach IDR 600 million. Information at location told the fire broke out when the market was open. It first appeared in one of the trader’s kiosks. Then, it enlarged and burned the entire market. Assisted by local residents, the traders evacuated their belongings but since the fire continued to grow, the evacuation of goods failed to do. The fire could be extinguished about an hour after the incident. The extinction was carried out by deploying four units of fire brigade from additional post in Kubutambahan and main post in Singaraja town. A total of 46 kiosks existed in the market and 154 traders did selling in the market. Of the 46 kiosks, 14 units of them were scorched. Meanwhile, of the 154 traders selling in the market, only 7 traders whose merchandise were on fire. Chief of Buleleng Fire Brigade, Pasek Sujendra, said his
party received a report and immediately mobilized fire trucks. When they arrived at location, the fire had been huge. Fortunately, it could be extinguished so that they did not burn all the kiosks and merchandise in the market. Meanwhile, the local market management explained the source of the fire was not yet known for sure. Nevertheless, the fire was suspected to happen due to short-circuit of power lines in the area of the market. Afterward, management of the village market immediately made coordination meeting with local village officials to find out a temporary selling location after the Bondalem Market caught fire. Operations Division Head of the Buleleng Police, Ida Bagus Wedanajati, said his party could not ascertain the cause of fire. The officers of Tejakula Police had investigated the incident by examining a number of witnesses. MEXICO CITY — Central America is on track to have one of its worst years ever for the painful, sometimes fatal disease of dengue, prompting governments across the region to mobilize against the mosquito-borne virus. There have been 120,000 suspected cases of dengue reported across Central America so far in the season, which is roughly June to November, when the rains make it optimal for mosquito breeding. The number of cases already is about to surpass the total for all of 2012 in the seven countries from Guatemala to Panama. At least 39 people have died so far, more than the 32 for all of 2012. The disease is endemic to the region, but cases tend to surge every three to five years, and the Pan-American Health Organization says this year’s looks unusually bad. Perhaps the worst major outbreak in the Americas was in 2010, when 132 people in Central America died. Honduras and El Salvador have declared health emergencies to channel extra funds and efforts to prevent the spread of the disease. Other nations are also sending teams of workers across villages and cities to squirt bursts of insecticide at puddles and to lecture citizens against leaving standing water where mosquitoes can breed. “They’re involving people from public health, police and soldiers. It’s an all-out effort to fight the effects of the epidemic,” said Vilma Areas, spokeswoman for the Nicaraguan Health Ministry. Candidates for legislative elections in October will be chosen in Sunday’s open primary but, with no competition among candidates on the lists presented by each party, it serves more as a survey on Fernandez’s six years in power. The left-wing leader has delivered steady economic growth and was easily re-elected two years ago. But heavy government spending has fueled annual inflation to over 20 percent, and her combative style has upset investors and many voters in Latin America’s third-biggest economy. Fernandez, 60, says she is not thinking about a possible third term but talk persists that her congressional allies want the constitution changed to allow her to run again. For that to happen, Fernandez would have to increase her control of Congress in October, when half the seats in the lower house will be up for grabs along with a third of the Senate. CAMPBELLTON, New Brunswick — Hundreds of people attended the funeral service Saturday for two brothers who were killed by a python while they slept at a friend’s home above an exotic pet store. Four-year-old Noah Barthe and his 6-year-old brother Connor were eulogized during the service at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Campbellton, New Brunswick. Campbellton Deputy Mayor Ion Comeau said the family decided that the brothers would be buried together in a single casket. The two boys were found dead Monday morning after a 100-pound (45-kilogram) African rock python escaped its enclosure in the apartment where they were staying. Police say the snake slithered through a ventilation system located above its tank and fell through the ceiling into the living room where the boys slept. Preliminary autopsy results show the boys were asphyxiated by the python. The Rev. Maurice Frenette told
the boys’ parents, Mandy Trecartin and Andrew Barthe, that their lives have been changed forever in ways no one else can imagine. “We all try to understand the best we can, but you know, no one here can feel what you feel. But I am sure that everyone here feels for you, for what you are going through,” he said. Questions still surround the circumstances of the boys’ deaths, but before the service Frenette said the funeral was a time to help the family. “We’re not here today to make any judgment or to try to find an answer to the inquiry, but we are here to take a pause and to be with the family,” he said. “Today we want to basically be there for them and tell them of all the love we will try to share with them during this
time of sorrow.” In front of the altar was a photo of the two boys, their heads leaning against each other with broad smiles on their faces. The boys were remembered for their love of video games, playing outdoors and the differences in their personalities. It’s also a land with a sometimes uneasy relationship with foreigners — especially when they aren’t white. Billionaire media mogul Oprah Winfrey says she ran into Swiss racism when a clerk at Trois Pommes, a pricey Zurich boutique, refused to show her a $38,000 handbag, telling one of the world’s richest women that she wouldn’t be able to afford it. Winfrey earned $77 million in the year ending in June, according to Forbes magazine. “She said: ‘No, no, no, you don’t want to see that one. You want to see this one. Because that one will cost too much; you will not be able to afford that,’” Winfrey, appearing on the U.S. television program “Entertainment Tonight,” quoted the clerk as saying. “And I said, ‘Well, I did really want to see that one.’ And she refused to get it.” She brought up the incident during an interview about her new movie, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” which opens next week and focuses on civil rights and race relations in the U.S. She was asked to open up about her own experiences with discrimination. DENPASAR - China has taken over Japan as Bali’s second biggest tourist supplier and strengthened its position as one of the ten biggest countries sending tourists to the island. “China that was ranked third before is now in the second place relegating Japan to the third position,” head of the province’s office of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Gede Suarsa, said. He said more and more people
from China came to Bali to enjoy its unique arts and culture and natural panorama. A a total of 187,633 people from China came to Bali in the first semester this year rising 15.09 percent from 163,030 in the same period
last year. He said China contributed 12.57 percent of total foreign tourists to Bali reaching 1.49 million in the first six months of this year. The Bali provincial administration expects the number of tourists from
China would increase to 400,000 this year or by 10 percent from 300,000 last year. The target is set based on the estimate from the Chinese Consulate General in Surabaya, East Java, that one million Chinese tourists would come to Bali this year. The number is actually very small compared to the total number of Chinese conducting overseas trips every year that reaches 75 million.
Bali meanwhile has set a target of receiving up to 2.28 million tourists this year, which is lower than last year’s realization of only 2.94 million. It is optimistic though that it would be achieved because the realization until the end of the first semester has reached 1.49 million. Bali has increased promotion efforts to potential sources of foreign tourists such as China, Suarsa said.

DENPASAR - Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali was packed with returning holiday travelers following the Idul Fitry festivities on Saturday, official said. “The returning holiday travelers began to pack the domestic departure terminal of the airport on Saturday, heading for a number of cities in Indonesia,” airport spokesman Ketut Dana said. He noted that although the departure terminal was crowded with returning travelers, the number of passengers arriving at the
domestic arrival terminal was also high. Data from the airport command post indicated that the flow of returning holiday travelers began to increase on Friday, as domestic passengers leaving from the airport reaching 13,732 travelers. “They were transported by 110 airplanes, including three additional planes,” Ketut said, adding that the number of passengers rose by 28 percent, compared to the same period last year, which reached 10,705 people. He added that returning holiday travelers left Ngurah Rai airport for Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung.

Thousands of pilgrims throng Goa Lawah Temple
Sarasvati feast was an important moment for Balinese Hindus. Celebration of the descent of the Vedas as the Hindu scriptures was filled with the implementation of belief and devotion by carrying prayers to a number of sad kahyangan and kahyangan jagat temples in Klungkung. As seen in the Goa Lawah on Saturday (Aug 10), thousands of pilgrims from across Bali thronged the temple used to venerate Lord Maheswara. An officer of the temple, Putu Juliadi, said last Saturday that pilgrims started booming from the morning. As consequence, the traffic at Karangasem - Klungkung road section was crowded and moved slowly. Even, by the midday more and more pilgrims occupied the
parking lots around the temple. Putu Juliadi estimated if it would happen until the evening. “Booming pilgrims have become a common sight in the Goa Lawah Temple, especially during religious holidays such as Sarasvati, Shivaratri and others,” he said. According to him, it indicated the rising awareness of the Hindus in enhancing their belief and devotion to God. However, his party hoped the rising awareness of the devotees should be balanced with the implementation of religious teachings that reflected a religious man. Tourism villages in Badung beautified
Two tourism villages in Badung County namely Kiadan and Pangsan will be beautified. Badung government allocates hundreds of millions of rupiahs for the arrangement and development of the two tourism villages located in Petang subdistrict. The project under supervision of the Badung Tourism Agency is under tender process in the Badung Electronic Procurement System (LPSE). Estimated value of the project reaches IDR 289 million. Spokesperson of the Badung government, AA Raka Yuda, recently said the arrangement and development project of the rural tourism was the continuation of the previous project existing in Badung County. Last year, a number of
arrangements to rural tourism were also performed such as to Sangeh village. It aimed at preparing adequate facilities and infrastructure in the tourist objects across the Badung County. Especially for Pangsan village, the Badung government would build a number of facilities and infrastructure such as gazebo, restrooms and road hardening, especially in the tracking rate. Meanwhile, at Pangsan would be performed a repair to tracking path and the making of stage for presenting typical local tourist attraction. Further, he said that other than tourism village, a number of tourist attractions would also be arranged such as the outside area of the Uluwatu tourist attraction as well as the construction of toilets in a number of tourist attractions. The Gerbang Samudra 2 Passenger Motor Vehicle (KMP) ran aground in the waters about half a mile from the pier. The vessel was sailing from Ketapang Harbor around 09:00 a.m. Since the voyage from Ketapang to the waters of Gilimanuk, the vessel had no problem. However, when approaching the moving bridge of pier 1 at Gilimanuk, it was blown by quite strong wind. Such conditions caused the vessel boarded by hundreds of passengers to be swept away. Captain Lauma, the vessel’s skipper, had difficulty to sail against the currents when moving and berthing at the pier. At approximately 9:45 a.m., the vessel was swept away and could just be stopped after the wheel was stuck in the lighting tower at approximately half a mile from the pier. Based on information, other than carrying 148 adult passengers, the vessel was also carrying 58 children. Meanwhile, the vehicle freight was fully occupied by private vehicles consisting of 13 private cars, a pickup truck and 42 motorcycles. Unluckily, such an effort did not work where the vessel remained afloat and could not move. Additionally, it did not release the anchor because it was worried to make it stuck in the shipyard lighting. Having found the Gerbang Samudra 2 vessel ran aground, the Jembrana Marine Police directly came down to location by boat. Since the vessel was long stuck, it was then decided to evacuate the passengers by using rubber boat of SAR team and rescue boat of Marine Police. Operations Division Head of Jembrana Marine Police, Nengah Gelgel, said the evacuation was meant to calm down the passengers and anticipate something worse to happen. A number of passengers were dropped through the vessel side door. The officers gave priority to children and women. The evacuation was quite stressful and some children even cried as being afraid. One of the passengers, Nurhayati, looked panic even though she had been calmed down by the officials. She claimed to be panic because it
was too long afloat and knew if the vessel ran aground. The passengers evacuated by rubber boat of SAR were dropped at the freight pier, while those carried by boat were dropped at the pier at Gilimanuk Bay. Afterward, they were delivered to the harbor by using bus owned by the IX/Udayana Military Regional Command at the scene. The harbor authority (ASDP) then gathered the evacuated passengers in the VIP lounge while waiting for the evacuation of the vessel. The process of passenger evacuation was carried out for several times using two boats. Besides, the ASDP also provided them with lunch. Up to Saturday afternoon, the vessel still ran aground because the vessel was still stuck and needed a diving to release the wheel. The officers were also still waiting for high tide in order to facilitate the vessel evacuation. Apparently, it needed a tugboat to pull the vessel. Operations Manager of the ASDP Gilimanuk, Wahyudi Susianto, said the vessel ran aground due to strong winds. Evacuation of the passengers was done first, while the vehicles were still on board until the vessel could be evacuated to the pier. (kmb26)

Ayana’s farm is located on 32 hectares of land in Bon Village, Central Bali, some 75 kilometers from Jimbaran. Aside from albesia, which is widely used in reforestation programs as it grows to full maturity within five years, the farm also produces pineapples and oranges and wild kopi luwak coffee beans, which are offered on Ayana’s menus. In addition to the 40,000 trees at the farm, 10,000 albesia trees, tropical trees and fruit plants have been planted in the gardens surrounding Rimba at Ayana’s 77-hectare property in Jimbaran. Rimba has an on-site greenhouse, organic fruit and vegetable garden and large herb garden which will supply ingredients for its state-ofthe-art Cooking School.
Balinese Temple Ceremony Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

Chris Brown suffers seizure from emotional stress Associated Press Writer
LOS ANGELES — Grammy-winner Chris Brown has suffered a seizure brought on by intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, his publicist said Saturday. The “Look At Me Now” singer suffered a nonepileptic seizure early Friday morning while he was working in a Los Angeles studio, Nicole Perna said by email. Perna said Brown’s doctor attributes the episode to “intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity.” The doctor examined the 24-year-old but he wasn’t hospitalized. The singer has been on felony probation since the 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown has been in and out of court since the Rihanna assault, making reports on fulfilling the requirements of his five-year supervised probation term. A judge revoked his probation last month and ordered a hearing in a May 12 hit-and-run case, in which he is suspected of rear-ending a car stopped at a red light in the San Fernando Valley. Brown allegedly refused to give the other
driver his license or insurance information. The driver of the other car said Brown was polite at first, but a confrontation arose after she kept demanding identification. The woman said she took a picture of Brown and a passenger, “and then they went ballistic,” shouting expletives and grabbing at her camera before speeding off. The woman said she didn’t know who Brown was until a friend called and told her about an online report of the incident. In February, the Sheriff’s Department investigated a fight between Brown and singer Frank Ocean at a recording studio, but Ocean declined to pursue a battery case against Brown. The same month, Brown crashed his Porsche while being chased by paparazzi. Brown won a Grammy in 2011 for Best R&B Album with “F.A.M.E.”

Jolie, Marvel superheroes bewitch Disney expo ANAHEIM, California — Angelina Jolie cast a spell on the crowd at the D23 Expo. The star of the upcoming film “Maleficent” appeared on stage at the Disney extravaganza for a Saturday presentation promoting the company’s upcoming assortment of live-action films. “Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favorite,” Jolie told the crowd of 4,000 fans about her role as a real-life rendition of the “Sleeping Beauty” villainess. “I was terrified of her, but I was so drawn to her. I wanted to know more about her.” Jolie said her daughter, Vivienne, who turned 5 years old last month, was cast in the film as a young version of Princess Aurora, mostly because she was the only child who wasn’t afraid of Jolie in her horned attire on the set. “One little kid even said, ‘Mommy, please tell the mean witch to stop talking to me,’” said Jolie. DENPASAR - Seasonal migrants or the urbanite from outside Bali went home to their own village during the Eid al-Fitr festivity. Most of them lived and worked in Bali. For Balinese people, the existence of those seasonal migrants sometimes help them in undertaking the trade activities, construction, sales and other jobs. The seasonal migrants from outside Bali dominated by Javanese make most of job opportunities that are not taken by local people of Bali a fertile field for them. Balinese community seems reluctant to take certain job opportunities. People still prefer to take certain types of job and ignore the existing opportunities that should be taken, so that they were taken by migrants from outside Bali. The urbanite tends to take informal sector, while Balinese society still prefers to take formal sector. Some job opportunities in informal sector are traders of meatball, satay and fresh salad with fried chicken or fish, denoting a favorite delicacy in Indonesia. In Bali, these job opportunities are taken by those of Javanese ethnic having mental
immune and do not hesitate to sell culinary products like meatballs, satay and fresh salad. Up to now, the opportunity to sell these foods across Bali is almost dominated by Javanese. We should begin to think and open our eyes so there is an axiom ‘Balinese sells land to buy meatballs, while Javanese sells meatballs to buy land.’
Ida Ayu Alit Laksmiwati, a lecturer of demographic anthropology, said there should be a synergy between the local government and the government where the urbanite came from so that it could suppress the excessive arrival of the urbanite. She confirmed that a good mutual cooperation among the local governments could reduce the number of excessive increase in the population and opened up job opportunities to be taken advantage by local workers. The increasing number of the urbanite each year would result in various impacts on their destination such as crime, slums, unemployment and poverty. As a real example in the field, many human resources of Bali worked as hotel employees, while the hotel owner or manager came from outside Bali. Such phenomena should be considered together and native residents should rise up and become the leader and king in their own region. (dgk)
