Marc Marquez back on track

Marc Marquez completed his first Moto2 laps since last October’s Malaysian Grand Prix accident, during a surprise appearance at Alcarras in Spain. The 2011 world championship runner-up’s attendance was not officially announced, but some BSB riders also testing reported the news. “Pretty cool for Marc Marquez to turn up at Alcarras on his Suter Moto2 bike!” read a Tweet by WFR Honda rider James Westmoreland ? (@Westybsb27). A picture of Marquez riding down the pit lane on an unbranded motorcycle with orange wheels also appeared on Twitter. This [Tuesday] evening, Twitter messages from Repsol (@Box_Repsol) finally confirmed it had indeed been Marquez: “Hello! Today we have good news to give

you: Marc Marquez rode at a good pace at Alcarras and will now train at Albacete. “Earlier today he did a bit of supermoto, and then completed a total of 8 laps of Moto2. :)” A later press release then added further details: “Marc Márquez will be on track in a private test in Albacete this Thursday and Friday. The Repsol rider will head to Albacete tomorrow, having confirmed his positive recovery from eye surgery with time on his Suter Moto2 today. The Spaniard has already received the all clear from doctors following a final check-up this week and many miles onboard a motocross and supermotard bike. “Márquez was back on two wheels today at the Alcarrás Cirucit. After an early morning Supermotard session he under-

took 8 laps onboard his Moto2 bike —in order to make sure that he was ready for a return to testing. The objective in Albacete will be to further evaluate his recovery.” The Repsol Suter star, who won seven races during his rookie campaign, had not ridden a Moto2 machine since suffering eye problems following a practice fall on an unmarked section of wet track at the penultimate 2011 round. Marquez subsequently underwent surgery to cure double vision problems and, although he has been training on a motocross bike, has missed two of the three 2012 pre-season Moto2 tests. The final official Moto2 pre-season test will be held at Jerez from March 19-21, with the season-opening race in Qatar on April 8.

Button: Red Bull won’t have headstart

Franco, Cornish among those with films at Tribeca

Jenson Button has made more optimistic noises about his chances of weren’t very fast. “[This time], we’ve had a good winsuccess in this year’s F1 world championship, confident that his McLaren ter in terms of reliability, apart from team will be closer to current top dogs Red Bull.

Button, who came closest to repeating his 2009 world title when he finished a distant second to RBR’s Sebastian Vettel last year, believes that McLaren is well positioned to challenge its Milton Keynes rival from the opening round, unlike in 2011, when pre-season problems restricted testing and development. This time, it is Red Bull who appears a little unsure of itself, after a planned upgrade for the RB8 - unveiled dramatically to the surprise of the opposition in Barcelona at the weekend - did not appear to produce the desired step forward. “It’s great that they’ve brought a big upgrade because it takes everyone’s attention off our car,” he told Britain’s Guardian newspaper, “They seem to have a very different rear end system than they had before, but just having different pieces of bodywork doesn’t mean it’s a massive chunk of lap time. They’ll be quick, but we don’t know how quick.

“Sebastian is still the favourite because he is the double world champion, but I feel that the field will be bunched up a lot more now. Red Bull won’t have the advantage they had out of the blocks last season.” Button is particularly optimistic given that the various upgrades added gradually to the MP4-27 seems to have worked more than the wholesale change made to Vettel’s Red Bull, a failure on which left the German at the bottom of the Barcelona timesheets. “We don’t need more bits, we’ve got it all on the car already,” Button insisted, “I’m a lot happier with everything compared with last year. We’re not running round scratching our heads wondering what we’d done wrong. Last year, we had problems with the exhaust [but] we also had the problem that we just weren’t very fast, even when the exhaust did work. Maybe that was kept secret, but we just

Saturday, and I feel we are making good progress with the car. There’s nothing I’m afraid of with the balance of the car. It listens to changes, which is really important with a motor car, [and] I’m very happy with the direction we’ve taken with the car and with the package we have.” Despite his optimism, however, Button refused to rule out opposition from anywhere - even Ferrari, which appears to have been struggling to get its 2012 car to behave as it wants. “I’m sure Ferrari can find their way out of a sticky situation – if they’re in a sticky situation,” he insisted, “I don’t really know where they are in terms of pace. [But] we’re all trying new things at the start of the year. One of us will get it right and I’m sure the others will follow suit in the end. They’re obviously on the back foot, but I’m sure they’ll catch up. They have the resources, they have the expertise and they really want and need a good season in 2012.

rupiah. “It is better that the money for the project is given to the education sector,” Wijaya said. The Head of Denpasar Education Council, Putu Rumawan Salain, stated that currently, there is no plan to fix the education world. He thinks that the government should eliminate the project that is not directly related to the welfare of the society.

Denpasar – Bali receive great number of income through vehicles taxes. Behind the great income, there is a concern that it could be some deviation. This can be seen on the letters sent to Bali Post office where they emphasized on the system that giving a chance for corruption.

The sender of the letters explained about the certain account in Bali Bank before being sent to the local account. In the letter, there is information that there is a leak as much as 600 million rupiah since May 1, 2011 until December 31, 2011. If it is accumulated then it will become 72 billion rupiah. The letter also stated that the fund is being use to make com-

panies and to fund the election in 2013. Regarding the information, the Head of Bali Revenue Department, ketut Sudira rejected the idea of the existence of the account. He said that with the online system, the tax will directly go to the local account. “We never in contact with the money and all directly enter the account. There are no temporary account in any bank

but there are an account before enter the government account,” he added. Sudira said the tax revenue is always increasing every year. In 2011, the revenue was 1.5 trillion rupiah, more than the target which was 1.1 trillion rupiah. The number of vehicles in 2011 was 2.5 million and it is kept increasing. In January 2012, the number of vehicles added 296 units. (kmb29)
