Force India is adamant that there is no reason why it cannot emulate the likes of Lotus, Sauber and Williams by challenging at the front in Formula 1 this year - even though it only has one top-six finish to show from 2012 so far. The supervisor of the project from Bali Province Public Works Agency, Putra Susila, clarified that his side needs one day time to repair the collapsing bridge by putting bok culvert concrete drainage also digging using a heavy vehicle. The part that could take time is to tar the road which takes minimal 5 days even so it is assured that by Thursday (7/6) the route will open again. Besides Nyanyi’s bridge, there is another bridge that has to be repaired in the same area with the same condition. The repair will also take place in the next day. Bali Police Criminal Research Directorate managed to capture one elpiji illegalizing last Monday (4/6) and it is not for the first time. This time he was captured while stopped as police suspected he was bringing illegalized Elpiji Gas tubes instead of caught him in the act illegalizing it. Bali Police stated last Tuesday (5/6) that accused named Bambang Prayogo (25) was stopped while passing by Sentanu Street, Denpasa around 3 pm local time. Accused was driving a Suzuki Carry Pick-Up DK 9671 FF that did not have a company name on its surface like other agents and was bringing some gas tubes. From the checking done, accused did not show any documents and so the 11 50 kg gas tubes were confiscated moreover the tubes don’t have any sealing. It is admitted that those gas tubes were sold to customers and an illegalized one. From further investigation, accused admitted that this illegal business have been going on the past 2 years where one 50 kg gas tube sold for IDR 260,000. Head of the Directorate, GPC Eldi Azwar, confirmed this case and accused has violated Section 53 b Law No 22 Year 2001 on oil and gas with possible punishment 3 years jail. (kmb21)

Denpasar- Denpasar city is still graded to have a shortage on middle to high class hotel rooms especially for the coming long holidays which could reach up to 20-30 percent increase as stated by Denpasar Tourism Agency, Putu Budiasa, at Denpasar last Tuesday (5/6). He predicts that there will be a shortage of 1,200 rooms from the total of good representative hotel rooms. In Denpasar right now there are 8,797 hotel rooms which are from 194 budget hotels there are 4,426 rooms, from 28 one starred hotel’s 4,041 rooms while others from small inns. For that there is still an opened opportunity for investors to build a hotel at Denpasar area yet still contributing to the aesthetics, lessening roadsides parking and opening a new working field. Government suggests for tourist accommodation in Denpasar to prepare in giving the best service for tourists in the coming long holiday. Manchester United agree terms for Dortmund’s Kagawa Reuters

Manchester United have agreed terms with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of midfielder Shinji Kagawa, the English Premier League club said on Tuesday, with the Japan international needing to pass a medical and obtain a work permit to complete the deal. United said in a statement they expected the transfer to be completed by the end of June and have already agreed terms with the attacking midfielder, who has been a revelation in Germany over the past two seasons. LONDON - One month on from his appointment as England’s manager even some of his more hostile media critics are beginning to accept the FA chose the right man for the job following two steady wins in his opening two matches. Judging by some of the negative reaction to the FA’s decision to select him as manager and not the popular Harry Redknapp, anyone would have thought he was an inexperienced beginner who had no right to be considered for the job. Nothing could be further from the truth, as a look at the 64-year-old’s impressive CV shows and although not too much can be read into two relatively low key wins against Norway and Belgium, the first glimpses of Hodgson’s organisational capabilities were clearly there to be seen. And by taking charge of a side that, for once, no-one in the normally hysterical English media expects to do well, might just work in his favour. With the pressure off, he might get England to do better than they usually do in major tournaments. By his own admission Hodgson was an average player with Maidstone United, Tonbridge Angels and Crystal Palace reserves in the 1960s but he is far from being an average manager. The England job is his fourth international appointment after stints with Switzerland, Finland and the United Arab Emirates and he has coached in eight countries in all. Hodgson has not been successful everywhere - he was sacked at Blackburn Rovers in 1998 and at Liverpool last season after a sixmonth spell at Anfield.

Much of the negative reaction to Hodgson’s appointment came from the media, baying for weeks that Tottenham Hotspur manager Redknapp was a certainty for the job. ANGRY PUNDITS

The pundits were angry to be proved wrong, vented their spleen on Hodgson, but now that petty spat is out the way, they seem prepared to give him a chance, and at last a sense of reality may be in the air at last. Capello’s resignation as manager in February, despite an unbeaten qualifying campaign, a series of injuries ruling out key players, striker Wayne Rooney’s two-match ban which rules him out of the first two matches and a lack of flair in the team have all played a part in watering down optimism among the fans.

their region’s exposure to the sun during that exact window of time, and the weather. The Walt Disney Company, in a first for a US media giant, said Tuesday it will ban junk-food advertising on its TV channels and websites from 2015 to help fight obesity among US children. “This new initiative is truly a game changer for the health of our children,” said First Lady Michelle Obama, a champion of better eating for young people who attended Disney’s landmark announcement in Washington. “This is a major American company, a global brand, that is literally changing the way it does business so that our kids can lead healthier lives,” she said. In a statement, Disney said all food and drinks advertised on Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, Radio Disney, and Disney-owned children’s websites would, from 2015, be required to meet its own nutrition guidelines. The rules will also apply during Saturday morning cartoons on the ABC stations owned by Disney, which reach one in four American households from New York to Los Angeles. “The nutrition guidelines are aligned to federal standards, promote fruit and vegetable consumption and call for limiting calories and reducing saturated fat, sodium, and sugar,” it said. Breakfast cereals, for instance, would have to contain less than 10 grams of sugar per serving in order to be advertised on Disney outlets. Kellogg’s Sugar Frosted Flakes, squarely targeted at youngsters, now come in at 11 grams. Among the titles announced were the cooperative platform game “New Super Mario Bros. U” and the amusement-park-themed mini-game collection “NintendoLand.” Nintendo also demonstrated the fantastical strategy sequel “Pikmin 3” and first-person undead-fighting game “ZombiU” from Ubisoft Entertainment. KABUL, Afghanistan — The U.S. has terminated funding for a $20 million project to develop a Pakistani version of “Sesame Street” in response to alleged corruption by the local puppet theater working on the initiative, U.S. officials said Tuesday. The organization in question is the Rafi Peer Theater Workshop, a group based in the city of Lahore that jointly developed the show with Sesame Workshop, the creator of the American series.

NEW YORK — Sheryl Crow revealed that she has a benign brain tumor, but her rep says it’s nothing to be alarmed about. The 50-year-old told an audience about her condition at a recent concert, but her representative, Christine Wolff, said it’s very common. The tumor is a meningioma (men-in-GEE-oh-mah), and it’s typically benign and develops from the protective linings of the brain and spinal cord. Wolff said that Crow is doing great and is healthy and happy. Crow battled breast cancer several years back. She’s currently on a nationwide tour.

The show, which includes Elmo and a host of new Pakistani characters, first aired at the end of last year and was supposed to run for at least three seasons. The U.S. hoped it would improve education in a country where one-third of primary schoolage children are not in class. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. WASHINGTON - Five leading US global companies, including Coca-Cola and Ford, unveiled Tuesday a joint effort to develop 100 percent plant-based plastics in their products, cutting the use of fossil fuels. Coca-Cola, Ford, Heinz, Nike and Procter & Gamble said they were launching a working group focused on speeding up the development and use of 100 percent plant-based PET plastic. PET, also known as polyethylene terephthalate, is a durable, lightweight plastic. All five companies use PET based on fossil fuels like oil in bottles, apparel, footwear and automotive fabric and carpet. The companies pledged in a joint statement “to champion and support research, expand knowledge and accelerate technology development to enable commercially viable, more sustainably sourced, 100 percent plant-based PET plastic while reducing the use of fossil fuels.” The jump on the green bandwagon came after PepsiCo, Coke’s arch-rival, announced in March 2011 it had developed the world’s first PET plastic bottle made entirely from plants. It also came after months of rising oil prices that have squeezed company profit margins. The companies said their new working group, the Plant PET Technology Col-

448 buildings damaged in Sukabumi earthquake Antara

SUKABUMI - The 6.1-magnitude earthquake that hit Sukabumi on Monday has damaged 448 buildings, reported an official of the Sukabumi disaster mitigation office (BPBD). “The worst-affected sub-district is Cidolog. Until now, 12 sub-districts have reported that the earthquake has damaged a number of buildings in their region,” the secretary of Sukabumi BPBD, Tatang, Wednesday. He said that of the 448 affected buildings, 272 are slightly damaged, 153 are moderately damaged, and 19 others - in addition to a grand mosque, an Islamic boarding school and two small mosques - are seriously damaged. “The figure is tentative, because we are

still unable to calculate the material losses; the number of damaged buildings could increase later,” he added. The 12 affected sub-districts are Cidolog, Tegalbuleud, Nyalindung, Surade, Warungkiara, Cidadap, Parungkuda, Palabuhanratu, Ciemas, Simpenan, Sagaranten and Pabuaran. Sukabumi district contains 47 sub-districts in all. The Sukabumi and West Java authorities have distributed relief aid to the earthquake victims. Advancement of science of technology does not answer all problems encountered by human life. In agriculture, for instance, modern farmers can now have boosted the quantity of production, even in multiple amounts. On the one had, it’s a great success but on the other hand it still leaves a problem on the decline of environmental and human health quality. Green revolution occurred between 1943 and 1970s through the implementation of chemical fertilizer and good irrigation system has conjured up the rice production. In short term, it became an efficacious medicine to resolve the famine in tropical countries. Few decades later, it had an impact on the reduction of environmental quality, like pollution in water, land and others. Apart from the impact on the environment, it was also had an impact on human health like the rise of some new cancers. Realizing these facts, now Bali has an initiative to become a green province and implement the integrated farming system. Hopefully, implementation of the system could realize the Bali Organic plan and consequently minimize the environmental destruction. Green province campaign includes some aspects, namely green culture, green economy and Bali green and clean. that all economic activities should be in the eco-friendly orientation. These two aspects will empty out into the initiative of Bali Organic. One of the aspects is applied in the agricultural field. Socialization has been intensified while establishing farmer groups. Through breeding local cows, for instance, farmers are expected to get maximal benefits. Other than increasing the number of cows, they will be able to take advantage the cow dung and urine for organic fertilizers. In the long run, it will reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Of course, this endeavor will reduce the production cost that should be spent by farmers and at the same time increase the quality of rice as well as improve the environmental quality. As a matter of fact, simple practice of this concept could have been seen around 1970s. Farmers using cows to cultivate their land could also take advantage of their cow dung. It was spread out onto the rice field and its efficacy could last for at least for two planting seasons. In terraced rice field, it could uniquely be managed by establishing a cowshed in the upper stream. Later on, the collected dry cow dung was channeled to rice field through the water gutter. However, since being urged by the demand to multiple the rice production, farmers left the method. Introduction of hand tractor and chemical fertilizers gradually replaced

the role of cows. The new method was expected to accelerate the land cultivation process. As consequence, cows were only serving as ‘family saving’ for farmers. Simple eco-friendly pest control actually has been proposed in the palm-leaf manuscript entitled “Shri Tattwa or Darmaning Pemaculan.” It has been applied by subak community in Bali from generation to generation until today. However, it seems to put more emphasis on the ritual aspect only, while herbal pesticide or other means of the oblation is only applied symbolically. For instance, bird raids are managed by offering two pieces of ketupat sidayu together with oblation and side dish of yellow dragonfly. Meanwhile, Subash Palekar from India claimed to have developed the vedic-based farming. He has initiated his ‘spiritual farming’ since 1988. In essence he said that God or nature has provided human with everything required to grow plants. So implementing the chemical fertilizers and pesticide means to oppose God and will result in bad impact to human. Cow dung and urine as well as compost are three beneficial ingredients being enough for farming both on irrigated and non-irrigated land. By doing so, he claims it is a ‘zero budget of natural farming’ as in his trilogy book entitled Philosophy of Spiritual Farming. (BTN/punia)

Combine peanuts, garlic, chilies and kencur in a food processor and puree, or grind coarsely in a stone mortar. 2. Place in heavy sauce pan with coconut milk, sweet soy sauce and lime leaves. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring frequently to prevent the sauce from sticking, for 15 minutes. 3. Add limejuice and sprinkle with shallots just before serving as a dipping sauce for satay. Season to taste with salt.

IKAN LELE (Catfish)

OVERVIEW: The whiskered catfish, though not an attractive looking creature, tastes excellent when cooked in this fashion. INGREDIENTS: 1 catfish weighing 350g 1 tsp salt 1tsp black peppercorn crushed 2 tbsp freshly squeezed limejuice 1-cup spice paste for seafood 2 cups coconut milk 1 stalk lemon grass, bruised PREPARATION: Season catfish with salt, pepper and limejuice and marinate for 30 minutes. Deep fry fish over medium heat for 10 minutes until crispy. While the fish is marinating, combine all remaining ingredients in saucepan and bring to the boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, until coconut milk breaks apart and sauce becomes oily and clear rather than creamy. Pour the sauce over the fried fish and serve. Helpful hint: If catfish is not available, replace with any fresh whole fish or follow the same method with any boneless fish fillet.
