LOS ANGELES — Bill Cosby was sued Tuesday by a Southern California woman who claims the comedian molested her in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion around 1974 when she was 15 years old. Judy Huth’s sexual battery lawsuit does not specify how much she is seeking from Cosby, who has in recent weeks faced renewed accusations that he drugged and sexually assaulted more than a dozen women over many years. It is the first lawsuit Cosby has faced claiming sexual abuse since 2005. Huth’s lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, however, is the first time a woman has gone public claiming Cosby abused her when she was underage. A second woman told Pittsburgh television station KDKA last month that Cosby drugged her to the point of unconsciousness in the 1980s when she was 15. Huth’s lawsuit states that she and a 16-year-old friend first met Cosby at a Los Angeles-area film shoot and the comedian gave the girls drinks a week later at a tennis club. The lawsuit states that Cosby took them to the Playboy Mansion

after several drinks, and told the teenagers to lie and say they were 19 years old if asked. Her lawsuit states Cosby forced her to perform a sex act on him with his hand. An email message sent to Cosby’s attorney Martin Singer was not immediately returned. Singer has denied previous accusations or said the women raising the claims in interviews had been discredited. Singer’s statement does not apply to a lawsuit brought in 2005 by Andrea Constand, who claimed Cosby drugged and molested her at his suburban Philadelphia mansion in 2004. Constand, who worked for the women’s basketball team at Temple University, and Cosby settled the case before trial. Cosby, a Temple alumni, resigned from the university’s board of trustees on Monday. He had been the school’s public face, appearing in advertisements, fundraising campaigns and delivering commencement speeches. The accusations have put a significant dent in Cosby’s recent comeback efforts, forcing the cancellation of shows on his comedy tour and prompting Netflix and NBC to shelve projects featuring the comedian.

Firstly, it was related to economic aspect where a building should not make a competition or harm the people’s economy. “This aspect will affect the economic sector of society, especially the local community who has already managed homestay,” he said. Then second was social aspect where it should not generate social

jealousy. Then, in terms of cultural aspect, the investment should respect local wisdom. For example, the existence of a budget hotel was adjacent to the temple and cemetery. Actually, the temple and cemetery contained local wisdom such as cremation and piodalan or temple anniversary. It would be contrast to the budget hotel that did not appreciate local wisdom. “The last one is environmental aspect. It can be compared whether the existing budget hotels have been in conformity with the Bylaw of Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW), such as the ratio of building area to the open space or environment and the height of building. So, it can be cross-checked to each hotel,” he continued.

AMLAPURA – The increasingly prevalent billboards plastered on busy intersections, are hung with total disregard to motorists safety. One example is the billboard on the corner of Jalan Veteran and Jalan Untung Surapati, which entirely obscures the traffic lights there. Many motorists have complained after having been caused difficulty by this obstruction. Motorists coming from the south cannot see the traffics lights at all. Road user, Ni Nyoman Supadmini, said on Tuesday (Dec 2), that such obstructions were not only disturbing but also dangerous. Supadmini is quite shocked that such a condition has been left unattended. “It’s really troubling for those driving from the south,” he said. Karangasem legislator, I Wayan Geden, also spoke up on the matter of this annoying billboard. As he often passes this intersection, he frequently has to honk at the motorist in fornt of him who is unaware that the light is green. Only the red light is visible and this only when it is on. “As a result, there is a lot of honking at motorists heading north,” he said. Meanwhile, the Safety Division Head of the Transportation and Fire Department, I Wayan Sutapa, claimed not to know anything about the traffic light being hindered by the billboard but agreed to look into the matter. ” If the billboard is indeed blocking the traffic lights, it will be dismantled “I do not know yet, but I’ll try to check the location,” he said. SINGARAJA - After approximately three years of operation, the diesel-fueled power plant (PLTD), PT Indonesia Power will be closing its diesel power plant this year. The decision to terminate the power plant was made because the power supply of the Java-Bali submarine cable network now has four additional power circuits allowing and additional power supply of 330 MW. Termination of the operation to the 156 units of diesel engines began in July 2014. located in the same area as the steam power plant at Pemaron, Buleleng County. After preparing the land, and technical requirements over a period of about two months, the diesel power plant started operating with a diesel generator rented from a PLN subsidiary in Java. The contract for the generator was valid for one year. The remaining supply neede is being provided by the four circuits of the Java-Bali submarine cable with a capacity of 330 MW, as well as The Gilimanuk power plant (130 MW), the Pesanggaran power plant (124 MW), and the operations from the rented diesel power plant at Pesanggaran (238 MW). With this electric power supply, the peak load of electricity in Bali can be dealt with. Preparations for electricity reserves are being made in anticipation of the increase in peak load. “Now, we only contribute 90 MW to meet the peak load and when coupled with the supply of the Java-Bali submarine cables,

Balinese Temple Ceremony Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. Access to HIV meds is making the AIDS virus lose punch Agence France-Presse MIAMI - The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) may lose its ability to cause AIDS over time as more people take anti-retroviral drugs to keep the infection at bay, researchers said Monday. The study appears in the peer-reviewed US journal the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Researchers enrolled 2,000 HIVinfected women in Botswana and South Africa in the study. They found that women in Botswana no longer benefited from the protective effect of a gene variant, HLA-B*57, which typically means people progress more slowly than usual to full-blown AIDS. However, they also found that the loss of this protection wasn’t necessarily bad, because it was accompanied by a reduced ability for HIV to replicate, making the virus less powerful, or virulent.

Researchers also examined the impact of anti-retroviral therapy (ART) on the potency of HIV. They developed a mathematical model, which concluded that “selective treatment” of people with low immune cell counts will “accelerate the evolution of HIV variants with a weaker ability to replicate.” The World Health Organization says there were 35 million people living with HIV worldwide in 2013. The virus has killed some 39 million people since it emerged in the 1980s. “The widespread use of ART is an important step towards the control of HIV,” said Mike Turner, Head of Infection and Immunobiology at the Wellcome Trust, which funded the study. “This research is a good example of how further research into HIV and drug resistance can help scientists to eliminate HIV.”

MIAMI - International researchers said Monday they have made steps toward understanding why the most commonly used drugs for osteoporosis worldwide, known as bisphosphonates, may also prevent some kinds of lung, breast and colon cancers. If confirmed in clinical trials, the findings could accelerate the use of drugs like alendronic acid (Fosamax), zoledronic acid (Reclast, Zometa) and ibandronic acid (Boniva) to prevent tumors or treat them in their early stages, according to two studies in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Bisphosphonates work by blocking the abnormal growth signals that are passed through a family of proteins known as human EGF receptors (HER), the studies found. This, in essence, shuts down the cancer’s ability to spread, and is of particular importance because HER cancers tend to be more aggressive than other types. “Our study reveals a newfound mechanism that may enable the use of bisphosphonates in the future treatment and prevention of the many lung, breast and colon cancers driven by the HER family of receptors,” said lead study author Mone Zaidi, professor of medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. “Having already been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as effective at preventing bone loss, and

having a long track record of safety, these drugs could be quickly applied to cancer if we can confirm in clinical trials that this drug class also reduces cancer growth in people.” Previous research has shown that some breast cancer patients have lived longer while taking the medications to prevent bone loss, and that those who take them also have fewer cases of colon and breast cancer than people who do not take them. About one in five cases of breast cancer is HER2-positive, meaning it contains a protein that promotes cancer cell growth. The medications could have important implications for colon and lung cancer, too, since about 30 percent of cases of non small cell lung cancer and 90 percent of colon cancers are driven by HER mutations. Such cancers often become resistant to treatment. Researchers from China, Italy, Britain and the United States also found that the drugs did not work against colon cancer cells expressing low levels of HER. The studies were done on mice and on cells in lab dishes. Randomized trials in humans are needed in order to better understand the drugs’ effect on cancer.

MELBOURNE - The World Health Organization introduced new cervical cancer guidelines Wednesday, making it easier and cheaper to protect women against one of the deadliest, but most preventable, diseases. An estimated 270,000 people die each year from the cancer, of which 85 percent are in the developing world where many have limited access to healthcare and struggle to afford the vaccine. In launching new guidance at the World Cancer Congress in Melbourne, the health agency said it now recommended nine to 13year-old girls should receive two doses of the HPV vaccine, rather than the previous three. The vaccine prevents infection with the human papillomavirus, the virus responsible for most cases of cervical cancer, and studies had shown that reducing to two doses was as effective as three. The WHO said the change would make it easier to administer the vaccine and cut costs. “WHO’s updated cervical cancer guidance can be the difference between life and death for girls and women worldwide,” said Nathalie

Broutet, a leading WHO expert on cervical cancer prevention and control. “There are no magic bullets, but the combination of more effective and affordable tools to prevent and treat cervical cancer will help release the strain on stretched health budgets, especially in low-income countries.” She added that this could contribute “drastically to the elimination of cervical cancer”. The WHO also recommended that once a woman had returned a negative result in a cervical Pap test, she did not have to be rescreened for at least five years, which would be a major cost saving for health systems.Pap tests in many countries are currently recommended for women every two years once they are 18. An estimated one million-plus women worldwide are currently living with cervical cancer, many of whom have no access to health services for prevention, curative treatment or palliative care. While cervical cancer rates have fallen in much of the developed world over the past 30 years, largely due to screening and treatment programmes, rates in many developing countries have risen, often due to limited access to health services.

In addition to being determined by fate, the resulting plants were also determined by treatment of the cuttings. “Many tangerine farmers in Kintamani are planting the unlabelled cuttings with pretty good results. So, the most important for us is the availability of cuttings at an affordable price,” he added. The U.S. rescue ship Munro should arrive Thursday to help the search effort. The crew included 35 Indonesians, 13 Filipinos, 11 South Koreans and one Russian inspector, according to the South Korean government. It’s believed the ship began to list after stormy weather caused seawater to flood its storage areas, according to officials from the government and the company that owns the ship. The ship left South Korea on July 10 to catch pollock, a winter delicacy in South Korea, according to company officials. Black Friday promotions — coupled with falling gas prices, low-interest loans and hot new vehicles — drove U.S. auto sales higher in November, kicking off what’s expected to be a strong holiday season. Subaru and Chrysler led the major automakers with sales increases around 20 percent on strong demand for their small SUVs. It was Subaru’s best November ever and Chrysler’s best November in 13 years. According to a National Retail Federation survey of 4,000 shoppers, sales were down 11 percent to $50.9 billion over the four-day holiday compared to a year ago. Transparency International released its annual Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), which ranked Sudan, North Korea and Somalia as the worst offenders and Denmark, New Zealand and Finland as the most squeaky clean. It pointed to a rise in reports of corruption in Turkey, which suffered the year’s biggest fall in rank, and low rankings for the major emerging economies known collectively as the BRICs -- Brazil, Russia, India and China.

Tourists from different parts of the world who happened to witness the classic attraction were so stunned and surprised. Many of them immortalized the moment and some even took pictures with the background of nguncang activity. The nguncang troupe was taken from Satakan (community group) of Antapan that indeed had a lot of classic and unique artistries. In such traditional attraction, the housewives did it completely. Tugce Albayrak had been in a coma since mid-November following an altercation at a restaurant in Offenbach near Frankfurt. She died Friday, her 23rd birthday, after her family gave doctors permission to switch off her life support. Albayrak’s funeral will take place Wednesday at a mosque in Waechtersbach in central Germany. The death of the Turkish-German woman triggered an outpouring of public sympathy in Germany. Many have called her a role model for helping victims of violence when others looked away. An uncle, Yasin Albayrak, told The Associated Press that “Tugce passed away in the spring of her life ... She did her best for mankind.”

BHOPAL, India — Hundreds of survivors of the Bhopal gas leak took to the streets Wednesday to mark the 30th anniversary of the world’s worst industrial disaster, with protests demanding harsher punishments for those responsible and more compensation for the victims of the tragedy. On the morning of Dec. 3, 1984, a pesticide plant run by Union Carbide leaked about 40 tons of deadly methyl isocyanate gas into the air of the central Indian city of Bhopal, quickly killing about 4,000 people. Lingering effects of the poison pushed the death toll to about 15,000 over the next few years, according to government estimates. In all, at least 500,000 people were affected, the Indian government says. Thirty years later, activists say thousands of children are born with brain damage, missing palates and twisted limbs because of their parents’ exposure to the gas or water contaminated by it. The disaster remains an open wound in India, where many consider Union Carbide’s $470 million settlement with the Indian govern-

ment an insult. Ram Pyari said the tragedy haunts her life. “Everything was destroyed,” she said Tuesday during an evening vigil. “And my sons and my daughter-in-law died, my leg was amputated. I have to drag myself. These killers did not heed anything. Why are they not brought to court? Why are they not hanged?” In the poor neighborhoods behind the Union Carbide plant, where the worst of the tragedy unfolded some 600 kilometers (320 miles) south of New Delhi, survivors and their relatives and supporters burned effigies of Warren Anderson, who headed Union Carbide Corp. at the time of the leak, and a banner emblazoned with the logo of Dow Chemical Co., which bought Union Carbide. Anderson remained a focus of much of the anger of those who survived the gas leak, a symbol of what they perceive as the lack of accountability of big multinational corporations. Dow Chemical says it has no liability because it bought Union Carbide more than a decade after the cases had been settled.

GOLD COAST, Australia — Chinese swimmer Sun Yang has been banned from training in Australia and his Gold Coast-based coach Denis Cotterell plans to cut ties with the Olympic and world champion following a positive doping test. Swimming Australia high performance chief Michael Scott met with Cotterell last week and advised him that Sun was no longer welcome to train at the facility where Cotterell is based. China’s anti-doping agency revealed on Nov. 24 that Sun, who holds the 1,500-meter freestyle world record, served a three-month doping ban earlier this year after testing positive for the banned stim-

ulant trimetazidine on May 17. Scott said new guidelines had been instituted for any foreign swimmers training in Australia, requiring them to register with the Australian Anti-Doping Agency. “I met Denis last Tuesday,” Scott told the Brisbane Courier Mail. “As a result of that meeting and our policy, Denis has advised the Chinese swimming federation that Sun Yang will not be allowed to train at Miami (Swimming Club) any more or any of our podium centers. Integrity is foremost going forward.
