Kesha drops sex abuse lawsuit against Dr. Luke to focus on music

LOS ANGELES - Pop star Kesha has dropped her sexual abuse lawsuit in California against record producer Dr. Luke, saying she wants to focus on getting back to her music. The “Tik Tok” singer, who has not released an album for four years, will continue her fight in the New York courts to get out of a multi-album recording deal with Sony Music and Dr. Luke, her attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, said in a statement. “Kesha has dismissed her California action without prejudice while she pursues her appeal and other legal claims in the New York courts,” he said. “Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label.” The 29-year old singer filed a lawsuit in California in 2014 accusing Dr. Luke, one of the music industry’s most successful producers, of rape and emotional abuse during the early stages of her career. Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, has repeatedly denied the claims and has countersued for defamation. But the denial earlier this year by a New York judge of Kesha’s bid to extricate herself from her recording contract sparked an emotional #FreeKesha campaign on social media that earned support from leading stars such as Taylor Swift, Adele and Lady Gaga. Kesha is appealing the New York ruling and in April she released her

DENPASAR - So far the area of rice planting in Bali has not reached the target even though the target of the rise in the acreage, productivity and production has been set in two planting seasons. In the first planting season from October 2015 through March 2016, it could only reach 73,056 hectares of the target set at 79,751 hectares or 91.6 percent with productivity rate of 6.2 tons of milled rice. In the meantime, the second growing season in April 2016 until September 2016 only reached 47.05 percent. “For the growing season of April to September 2016, the rice planting area is targeted to reach 80,374 hectares. As of July 20, 2016 it only reached 37,818 hectares or 47.05 percent. So, Bali is still shortage of 42,556 hectares,” said the Head of the Bali Agriculture Agency, Ida Bagus Wisnuardhana, in Denpasar.

3 Indonesian volcanoes erupt, disrupting some flights

JAKARTA — Eruptions at three volcanoes in Indonesia have darkened skies in parts of the archipelago and disrupted some flights. Mount Rinjani on Lombok Island near Bali, the Sinabung volcano on Sumatra Island and Mount Gamalama in the Moluccas chain of islands have all erupted in the past couple of days. This was submitted by one of the artists, Sengap, when making performance to entertain the public of Timbrah village, Karangasem, in a series of the aci usaba sumbu, Monday night (Aug. 1). The Clekontong Mas troupe consists of five artists. In addition to Sengap, there are also other personnel, such as Sokir, Tompel, Luh Kembung and Luh Cablek. They appear alternately at the meeting hall of the Timbrah customary youth drawing thousands of spectators from the afternoon. Coordinator of the entertainment event, Made Sudarma, said that local customary village deliberately invited Sengap and friends to jazz up the aci usaba sumbu taking place this year for a full week. The entertainment was held due to the participation of the local youth giving a donation to finance the entertainment. “After getting tired with the customary routines, people need entertainment. We think Sengap and friends is the right troupe to be invited,” said Sudarma. Their jokes were quite entertaining that could make the audience linger at the meeting hall until midnight. People quite missed the Balinese joking in combination with the dance and typical geguritan song of the arja operetta. After the popularity of drama gong faded in Bali, it is increasingly difficult to find an artist remaining consistent in the field of comedy. Florida to begin aerial spraying of insecticides to control Zika

CHICAGO - Florida will conduct an aerial insecticide spraying campaign at dawn on Wednesday in an effort to kill mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus, officials in Miami-Dade County said. The campaign will cover a 10-mile area that includes the one-mile-square area just north of downtown Miami that health officials have identified as the hub of Zika transmission in the state, the officials said on Tuesday. On Monday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an unprecedented travel warning, urging pregnant women to avoid travel to the Miami neighborhood at the center of the investigation. The Zika outbreak was first detected last year in Brazil, where it has been linked to more than 1,700 cases of microcephaly, a birth defect marked by small head size that

can lead to severe developmental problems in babies. The virus has spread rapidly through the Americas and Caribbean and its arrival in the continental United States has been widely anticipated. Florida health officials announced another non-travel related case of Zika on Tuesday, bringing the total to 15. The aerial spraying campaign was recommended by the CDC in conjunction with the Florida Health Department to reduce adult mosquito populations that might be capable of carrying the Zika virus. In a conference call on Tuesday, CDC Director Dr. Thomas

Frieden expressed concern that vector control efforts so far have not been as effective as hoped. A CDC expert is currently conducting tests in Miami to see if mosquitoes in the area have developed insecticide resistance. Florida had been using two products in the pyrethroid class of insecticides. In its aerial campaign, the state will use a chemical called Naled that has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, according to Joseph Conlon, a spokesman for the American Mosquito Control Association. Naled is from a different class of insecticides known as organophosphates. According to the CDC, the chemical has been widely used to control mosquito populations in the United States, including in Miami, Tampa and New Orleans. (rtr)

NORTH CAROLINA - Compared to schools with mostly white students, schools with higher numbers of Hispanic, black, and lowincome students are more likely to have tobacco retailers and fast-food restaurants in easy reach, researchers say. “Schools are places where we expect to be healthy, supportive environments for kids, but right outside the door (students) could be exposed to unhealthy influences,” lead author Heather D’Angelo of Westat in Rockville, Maryland told Reuters Health in a phone interview. “I was surprised that there were so many tobacco outlets near schools,” said D’Angelo, who at the time of the study was at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. D’Angelo and her colleagues randomly selected more than 18,000 public schools in 97 U.S. counties, then analyzed their proximity to retailers within an 800meter radius – roughly equivalent to a 10-minute walk. They report in the American Journal of Public Health that 40 percent of the schools were near at least one fast food restaurant, 77 percent were close to at least one retailer likely to sell tobacco products, and 38 percent of schools were close to both. Schools with higher numbers of Hispanic, black, and low-income students receiving free and reduced-price lunch were more likely to have tobacco retailers and fast-food restaurants within a tenminute walk. More than 50 percent of schools

with a majority of Hispanic students were within 800 meters of both a tobacco outlet and a fast food outlet, compared to 21 percent of schools with a majority of white students. When researchers took population density into account, they found that every 10 percent increase in the proportion of a school’s Hispanic students was associated with a five percent higher likelihood the school was within walking distance of places to buy both tobacco and fast food. A 10 percent increase in lowincome students was associated with a three percent higher likelihood a school was near both kinds of stores. The researchers also report that fast food and tobacco were more easily accessible for older kids, suggesting “that retailers may be well aware of and ready to take advantage of the autonomy and purchasing power of older youths.” “High schools had 40 percent more fast food restaurants and 24 percent more tobacco outlets within 800 meters than did primary schools and high schools had nearly 1.5 times greater odds of having both” nearby, they wrote. The researchers say theirs is the first study to consider the availability of both tobacco and fast food on the basis of students’ socioeconomic and racial characteristics. The study did not analyze how students get to school, whether they leave campus during lunchtime, or where they live. Nor did the researchers have data on students’ eating habits, or their weight or health status. (rtr)

DENPASAR — Normally the addict will consume crystal meth by means of suction. However, a British tourist with the initials KH alias John, 56, has his own way namely by mixing the crystal meth to turn liquid and is then injected into his hand. The suspect was raided at a hotel on Jalan Sriwijaya, Legian, Kuta, Monday (Jul. 25). According to Deputy Chief of Denpasar Police, Nyoman Artana, accompanied by Chief of Narcotic Investigation Unit, Gede Ganefo, said on Tuesday (Aug. 2) that disclosure of the case was based on information obtained from communities that often see the suspect carrying a syringe. “The investigation is carried out for a week. The suspect applies visa on arrival and is estimated to have overstayed for 11 months,” he said. Last Monday, the suspect was seen by the officers eating at a restaurant in Kuta. After that, the suspect continued to go to hotel and was then followed by the officers. Fear of losing the trails, the officers immediately intercepted and conducted a search. In the motorcycle of the suspect was found a syringe. When questioned, the suspect admitted to have frequently consumed crystal meth. Police then raided the hotel room where the suspect was staying. As a result, it was found four packages of crystal meth in the safety box; four syringe containing liquid crystal meth; five pipettes; 76 empty syringes; alcohol and tape. “The suspect admitted to purchase the drug from someone with the initial K on Kuta Beach for IDR 4 million. He purchased the drugs two days before arrested,” said Artana. The suspect has been living in Bali and regularly consumes these illicit goods. Initially the suspect admitted to have been staying at the hotel for four months. After checked to the Denpasar Immigration Office, in fact, the suspect came to Bali on July 17, 2015. Chief Ganefo added the way how the suspect uses the crystal meth is indeed different from the other addicts. The suspect refined the crystal met by means of crushing and then mixed it with water. After that, it is input into syringe and then injected into her right hand. “The effect is similar to the way of sucking,” he said. (kmb36)

The main body of the missile landed in Japan’s economic exclusion zone, a Japanese defence official said, escalating regional tensions that were already high after a series of missile launches this year and the decision by the United States to place a sophisticated anti-missile system in South Korea. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe described the launch as a “grave threat” to Japan and said Tokyo “strongly protested”. Japan also said its self-defence force would remain on alert in case of further launches. A U.S. State Department spokesman condemned the launch, and said it would “only increase the international community’s resolve to counter” North Korea’s actions. The U.S. Strategic Command said it had detected two missiles, one of which it said exploded immediately after launch. The missile that landed in the Sea of Japan was launched at about 7:50 a.m. Seoul time (2250 GMT Tuesday) from a region in South Hwanghae province to the southwest of North Korea’s capital, Pyongyang, South Korea’s Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement. The launch showed North Korea’s ambition to “directly and broadly attack neighbouring countries and target several places in the Republic of Korea such as ports and airfields”, the South Korean office said, referring to South Korea by its official title. NEGARA — Farmers in Jembrana recently complained because the price of their rice slumped far enough when compared to the previous harvest. Damiri, a farmer from Pulukan village, Pekutatan, said on Monday (Aug. 1) that previously he got IDR 15 million for 0.60 hectare of paddy field. But currently with the same area he could only get harvest worth IDR10 million. According to him, the decline in the price of rice is experienced by all farmers. Allegedly it happened because the supply of rice from Java to Bali is too much. Farmers are said to be unable to reject the price of rice offered by contractor because it is the average price as well as consideration of the age of the rice. When left longer, he

said the ready-to-harvest rice can be damaged. “That price will be even lower. We were forced to accept it although the price is not as expensive as in the previous harvest,” he said. If calculated, his income from the sales of the rice is considered to still suffer losses in terms of the resources released starting from the preparation of the land, seedling planting to maintenance of the rice. The capital for the purchase of seeds and pesticides, he said, has returned despite the price is only that much. However, when calculated in terms of the cultivating cost, it is still considered to lose. In the meantime, the Head of the Jembrana Agriculture, Plantation and Livestock Agency, Ketut Wiratma, when asked for his confirmation he promised to check the slump

in the price of the rice of farmers. He said that to stabilize the price of rice harvest, his agency has been cooperating with the Union of the Indonesia Rice Milling Entrepreneurs (Perpadi) that gets funding. His agency will check it to Perpadi of Pekutatan subdistrict. “There are many factors causing the price of rice to slump, but this is really too much,” he said. According to him, in addition to the abundant supplies of rice due to massive harvest, the decline in the price of rice can also be caused by the incomplete rice ears as the influence of adverse weather condition. If this happens due to massive harvest, it usually occurs between May and June. HTA NI - By the standards of her village in Myanmar’s swampy Ayeyarwady Delta, Than Shin was a prosperous woman. She had 20 acres of farmland on which her family grew rice. But her fortunes changed in 2000 when the military government informed her it was taking possession of her land. Over the next year, Than Shin watched as the fields that for decades had provided her family with a living were cleared to make way for fish farms. Today, Than Shin and her family live in a thatched shack along the main road leading to Myanmar’s commercial capital Yangon. Her 67-year-old husband goes door to door on his bicycle selling soybeans. “We depended on that land our whole lives. When they grabbed it, we had nothing, no income. We had to eat curry made from leaves,” she told Reuters. Than Shin’s story is just one example of what the ruling party of Aung San Suu Kyi says was the systematic confiscation of land from farmers by the army and the placing of that land in the hands of crony companies close to the military junta that ruled Myanmar for half a century. The fish farms that were built on her land were owned by

a company linked to then regional military commander Shwe Mann, who is now one of Myanmar’s most powerful political figures, according to a Reuters review of corporate filings. When Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD) stormed to power in elections last November, its victory was fuelled in part by rural anger over land seizures and the party’s pledge to provide redress. Just days after the NLD formed the first government since 1962 that is not backed by the military, the new deputy agriculture minister told local media that returning land to its rightful owners was the duty of the government. Now the NLD is moving to make good on that promise. The parliament member overseeing the effort, Sein Win, told Reuters the party aims to solve all land-grab cases within one year. That’s an ambitious timeframe. In untangling land disputes, the new government will have to contend with powerful business interests, many linked to the military. That could put Suu Kyi on a collision course with the generals and threaten Myanmar’s fragile transition to democracy. (rtr)

NEW DELHI - India’s upper house of parliament kicked off a debate on a major tax reform on Wednesday that lawmakers were expected to back in a vote later on, as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley faced a call from the opposition not to overtax businesses and consumers. The proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been held up for years by political in-fighting, and its passage would mark a victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he eyes an economic boost for Asia’s third-largest economy. “GST is one of the most significant tax reforms in the history of India,” Jaitley told lawmakers. India is already the world’s fastest growing large economy, expanding by 7.9 percent year-onyear in the March quarter. Economists at HSBC forecast the GST would produce a boost of 0.8 percentage points within three to five years. Yet while the finance minister vowed to roll out the new sales tax as soon as possible, he refrained from committing to a firm date. The vote on Wednesday involves a key constitutional amendment, which requires a two-thirds majority to pass. That will kick off a legislative marathon in which both the federal and state parliaments will need to pass further laws setting the rate and scope of the GST. It’s been a long time coming for the Modi government’s most ambitious reform. The Indian leader had wanted the GST to come into effect this April and hoped to reap its economic dividends in time for his expected re-election bid in 2019. Although the measure enjoyed broad political support, its passage was blocked by differences over its design, now riddled with compromises, that risk diluting its impact. The two-year-old deadlock was broken only after the government offered concessions to the opposition Congress party, which originally proposed the GST while in power but has opposed what it termed as a “flawed” tax. P. Chidambaram, Jaitley’s predecessor and a senior Congress leader, blamed the government for the deadlock. “It could have been resolved in five minutes,” he said. “But the government was rather stubborn.” Chidambaram warned of the risk of “creeping taxation” and urged capping the GST rate by law at 18 percent to ensure it is “non-inflationary, acceptable to public and an efficient way of taxing without tax evasion”. He also asked for safeguards to prevent any tinkering in the rate without the approval from both houses of parliament. Tax experts say that passing further legislation, training tax collectors, setting up IT systems and preparing companies for the new tax regime makes launching the GST by next April, the start of the next financial year, very challenging. If all goes well, they say, a July or October 2017 start date looks more probable.(rtr)

Beef sets, lavish free meals off limits in South Korea graft crackdown

SEOUL - Lavish free meals, rounds of golf and expensive gifts of beef and ginseng will soon be off-limits for civil servants, teachers and journalists in South Korea under a law aimed at clamping down on graft that has long been pervasive in professional life. The anti-corruption law that takes effect next month imposes spending limits on entertainment and gifts, curbing a tradition of hospitality that many restaurants, retailers and farmers worry will deal a blow to business. “It’s making it illegal for those who have the money and are willing to pay more. This is nonsense,” Yoo Byoung-hee, 45, a cattle breeder in Jecheon, south of Seoul, told Reuters by telephone. Yoo was among farmers who protested against the law last month in front of parliament. Boxed sets of beef, especially the prized domestic hanwoo variety, can cost hundreds of dollars and are a staple of giftgiving during the Chuseok holiday next month, as well as during Lunar New Year. Less-expensive gift sets feature items ranging from apples and Spam to shampoo. The anti-corruption law had been debated since 2011 and has been welcomed as a tool to clean up professional life in a country that ranks 37th out of 168 on Transparency International’s corruption perceptions index.

But many worry about its impact on a sputtering economy. The law could wipe out 11.6 trillion won ($10.43 billion) in revenue for sectors including food, golf, consumer and retail goods, the Korea Economic Research Institute said in June. Some groups, including the agricultural ministry, have called for an easing of the rules, which limit the value of gifts to people in the targeted categories to 50,000 won ($45) and meals to 30,000 won ($27). Gifts, meals and entertainment that are paid for in a personal capacity are not covered by the law. It does not apply to members of parliament or much of the private sector. SCANDALS President Park Geun-hye said on Tuesday it was important to mitigate the negative impact of the law while maintaining its core purpose. “Once the law is implemented and transparency and fairness in our society are improved, the effectiveness of our economy will increase and South Korea’s potential

growth may be improved,” she told a cabinet meeting. According to a survey by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission last year, 59.2 percent of South Koreans believed the country was corrupt. Graft scandals are common. Last year, former Prime Minister Lee Wan-koo was convicted after receiving 30 million won ($27,000) in a shopping bag during a parliamentary election in 2013, according to prosecutors. He is appealing. Since the Constitutional Court ruled in favour of the law last month, many restaurants and retailers have been scrambling to adjust, tweaking meal offerings and downsizing gift sets. Dave Yoon, head of Haewoori, the country’s biggest seafood restaurant chain, said it would introduce a 30,000 won multi-course meal once the law takes effect. “Revenue is probably going to go down but we made this decision because we feel like we have no other choice,” he said. “We’ve had so many customers come to us worrying about the law because many of our clients come to Haewoori for business. Haris Azhar not yet named a suspect: Police

JAKARTA - Police deny that the Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Person and Victims of Violence (Kontras) Haris Azhar has been named a suspect over alleged libel. “Not yet. It is too quick to name someone a suspect,” Director of General Crimes of the Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Brig. Gen. Agus Andrianto said here on Wednesday. Agus did confirm that Haris has been reported to police over alleged libel, saying reports were received on Tuesday. Bareskrim is still studying the reports, he said. Meanwhile Haris Azhar said he was not aware of the report naming him a suspect, but said he did know that the military (TNI) and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) have reported him to Bareskrim over his articles. “I was reported to police by TNI and BNN,” he said.

Haris Azhar earlier wrote an article “Rotten Story from a Bandit: Testimony from a Meeting with Freddy Budiman at Nusa Kambangan Prison (2014)”. The article by Haris said notorious leader of drug dealer Freddy, who was among the four drug convicts executed last Friday, claimed to have bribed law enforcement officers with hundreds of billions of rupiahs to protect his illicit business in the country. “Based on my calculation in the years of work to smuggle narcotics , I have given Rp450 billion to BNN officials. I have given Rp90 billion to certain officials of the police headquarters. I even drive using the car of a two star TNI general,” Freddy was quoted as saying in 2014. Haris Azhar admitted to have written the short article and he also said he had given a copy of the

article to presidential spokesman Johan Budi. “I decided to publish the article to send a message that if the government executed this man (Freddy Budiman), it has eliminate a man with significant information to unveil crimes involving officials of state institutions and about hundreds of billions of rupiahs of bribe,” Haris said in a news conference at Kontras. In a regular weekly program of TV ONE television on Tuesday night, a former BNN leader and TNI spokesman regretted that Haris made public his story just after Freddy was dead. They questioned the authenticity of Freddys statement as written by Haris , saying if Haris came up with the story when Freddy was still alive , Haris would be a hero, with big contribution to unveiling a big case.(ant)

Republican rift widens as Trump declines to endorse Ryan, McCain

WASHINGTON - U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump ratcheted up tensions in his party on Tuesday by denying two leading figures, House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan and Senator John McCain, support in their re-election bids. Trump told The Washington Post in an interview that he could endorse neither Ryan, the top U.S. elected Republican, nor McCain, a U.S. senator from Arizona and a former Republican presidential nominee, as they face challenges in their states’ primary contests ahead of the Nov. 8 general election. Both Ryan and McCain had criticized Trump’s feud with the family of Army Captain Humayun Khan, who died in the line of duty in Iraq in 2004 and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery after his death. HONG KONG - Nearly 120,000 units of digital currency bitcoin worth about US$72 million was stolen from the exchange platform Bitfinex in Hong Kong, rattling the global bitcoin community in the secondbiggest security breach ever of such an exchange. Bitfinex is the world’s largest dollar-based exchange for bitcoin, and is known in the digital currency community for having deep liquidity in the U.S. dollar/ bitcoin currency pair. Zane Tackett, Director of Community & Product Development for Bitfinex, told Reuters on Wednesday that 119,756 bitcoin had been stolen from users’ accounts and that the exchange had not yet decided how to address customer losses. “The bitcoin was stolen from users’ segregated wallets,” he said. The company said it had reported the theft to law enforcement and was cooperating with top blockchain analytic compa-

nies to track the stolen coins. Last year, Bitfinex announced a tie-up with Palo Alto-based BitGo, which uses multiplesignature security to store user deposits online, allowing for faster withdrawals. “Our investigation has found no evidence of a breach to any BitGo servers,” BitGo said in a Tweet. “With users’ funds secured using multi-signature technology in partnership with BitGo, a lot more is at stake for the backbone of the bitcoin industry, with its stalwarts and prided tech under fire,” said Charles Hayter, chief executive and founder of digital currency website CryptoCompare. The security breach comes two months after Bitfinex was ordered to pay a $75,000 fine by the U.S. Commodity and Futures Trading Commission in part for offering illegal off-exchange financed commodity transactions in bitcoin and other digital currencies. Brazil to deploy military to tourist sites, stadium security lax

Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes said deploying the military to the Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain would free up police to patrol other areas of the city during the Games, which run from Aug. 5 to Aug. 21. Speaking at the inauguration of the center for international police cooperation, which allows countries competing in the Games to share information on security threats, Moraes said agents with handheld metal detectors would check visitors to the Christ the Redeemer statue, which sits atop the Corcovado mountain at the center of the city. “The two (tourist) points where we’ll deploy the armed forces are Corcovado and the Sugarloaf Mountain,” Moraes told reporters. The military will also patrol strategic points in Rio such as energy, water and telcommunications installations, airports and tram stations. Concerns over possible attacks at the Games jumped last month after Brazil detained 12 people on suspicion of links to the Islamic State militant group. Police said they were monitoring some 100 suspected Islamist militants, particularly in the porous southern border region with Paraguay and Argentina. However, the minister said that the chances of any attack were “minimal.” The security operation for the Games will include a total of 85,000 police and soldiers. However, at the main Olympic stadium on Tuesday, an X-ray machine to scan visitors was not connected and there was no bar code scanner to check Olympic accreditation. Organizers last week canceled the contract of the relatively unknown security firm, Artel, which was supposed to check credentials and bags at the entrance to stadiums, replacing them with military police reservists. Sp rt Arce gets second chance in charge of Paraguay

ASUNCION - Paraguay have named Francisco Arce as their new coach, giving a second chance to the 45-year-old who failed to set them on course for a place at the 2014 World Cup. “Francisco Arce, new coach of the Paraguayan national football team, welcome Chiqui,” the team announced on its official Twitter account.

Arce replaces Argentine Ramon Diaz, who resigned after Paraguay’s group stage elimination at the Copa America Centenario in the United States in June. The former Paraguay right back, who played at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, will be looking to see the team through to the 2018 finals in Russia. Paraguay, who reached four successive World Cups between 1998 and 2010 where they progressed to the quarter-finals for the first time, are a lowly seventh in the South American qualifying group after six matches. They picked up nine points under Diaz and are four points

behind leading pair Uruguay and Ecuador before their next matches at home to Chile and away to Uruguay in the first week of September. The top four teams after 18 matches qualify for the finals while the fifth goes into an intercontinental playoff for one more berth. “I accept that our first time was not good,” Arce told a local radio station about his first spell in charge. “We have acquired more solidity in the five years that have passed.” Arce, who had barely hung up his boots when he took the job in 2011, has since being sacked a year later won the Paraguayan league title with Cerro Porteno in 2013 and Olimpia in 2015. As a player Arce, nicknamed “Chiqui” (little one) for his slight build, won the South American Copa Libertadores with Brazilian sides Gremio in 1995 and Palmeiras in 1999 having won three Paraguayan league crowns with his first club Cerro Porteno.
