Harrison Ford to reprise role in ‘Blade Runner’ sequel

LOS ANGELES - Harrison Ford is set to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in a sequel to the dystopian, neo-noir “Blade Runner,” more than 31 years after the film first premiered. Ridley Scott directed the 1982 movie, which was adapted from the Philip K. Dick novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.”

Alcon Entertainment announced Ford’s role Thursday and said Scott will serve as an executive producer on the sequel. Production on the film will begin in the summer of 2016. Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, and Michael Green have written a script based on an idea from Fancher and Scott. The story will take place several decades after the events at the conclusion of the 1982 film. A director has not yet been confirmed for the project. (ap)

Bruce Willis laments sudden end to action-thriller ‘Wake’

LOS ANGELES — Bruce Willis is not saying “Yippie-ki-yay” about the cancellation of his latest film. A spokesman for Willis told The Associated Press Friday that production of “Wake” was suddenly halted this week when financing fell through, and the actor is concerned that crew members who joined him “in good faith” are left jobless. Publicist Paul Bloch said the

company responsible for financing the film didn’t deliver the promised funds, so production of the actionthriller was indefinitely suspended. Shooting began earlier this month in Cleveland. Benaroya Pictures did not return calls and emails seeking comment Friday. “Wake” was also to star Ben Kingsley and Ellen Burstyn. (ap)

Liam’s post-Oasis band Beady Eye recently broke up as well but he is quick to dismiss any suggestion of a reunion with his 42-year-old brother. “The answer is no,” he says. His new album “Chasing Yesterday”, his second since the band split, is released on March 2 and features his signature combination of layered guitars and elliptical lyrics. The star is full of enthusiasm for the life of a solo artist, perhaps recalling the arguments and dramas which accompanied Oasis’s global success, selling 60 million albums

and scoring hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. “It’s more rewarding, it’s more fulfilling. I like being in charge of everything,” he says. “I just write songs and I collect the songs together and I make an album out of them.” Gallagher is now a 47-year-old family man with three children who is more likely to be found watching his beloved Manchester City than indulging a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. His legendary bile towards musicians whose work he does not rate has not diminished with age.

“Beyonce, not for me. My wife loves her but she’s got no taste. Katy Perry? Even my daughter hates her and she’s 15. Sam Smith? Not for me,” he says. “Traditional rock stars are like wild animals -- Mick Jagger or my brother,” he adds. “They don’t give a fuck. Modern rock stars, Alex Turner (of Arctic Monkeys) or Sergio from Kasabian, they do give a fuck, they care about their hair style, they care about what they think.” He is more forgiving towards Oasis’s old Britpop rivals Blur, who this month announced their

first new album in 12 years, “The Magic Whip”. “I think it will probably be very good if it in any way represents what Damon (Albarn, Blur’s frontman) has been doing recently,” Gallagher says. “Old groups are great but what really lets old groups down, they don’t fucking write good songs any more.” He does not even rule out working with Albarn in future. “I would like to. We’re both gonna be busy boys for the next couple of years. But you never know,” he says. (afp)

Noel Gallagher looks to the future with ‘Chasing Yesterday’

LONDON - Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher is putting his past behind him, releasing a new solo album, ruling out a reunion with his brother Liam and even being nice about one-time arch-rivals Blur. Oasis split five years ago after nearly two decades of fractious sibling rivalry between guitarist Noel and his younger brother Liam, the band’s frontman. “I haven’t seen him for about five months but we text quite a lot. It’s usually him insulting me,” laughs Gallagher, during an interview with AFP in London.

A Kuta community leader, IGN Sudiarsa, revealed that based on his observation, Kuta tourism was still in normal condition. Foreign tourist visits were also relatively similar to the same period last year. “It remains mediocre. Indeed, as in previous years from February to March is the period of low season,” said the chief of Legian customary village. Kuta community, added Sudiarsa, greatly regretted the threat of the Australian government. Such attitude was judged excessive especially considering the death penalty for the two Australian citizens had been in accordance with the applicable laws in Indonesia. However, Sudiarsa was confident

that Australian citizens would be mature enough to address the issues because it originated from the cases of drug-related crimes. His party also hoped the threat of the Australian government would not affect the number of Australian tourists visiting Bali. Moreover, all this time many Australian tourists had considered Bali, especially Kuta, as their second home. Unworried

Meanwhile, not long ago Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya, responded to the threats posted by Australian government to boycott travelers to Indonesia. “Tourism has the base of people to people, not government to government. So, it is

expected when parents fight, children are still playing together, such a thing is also expected to happen in this case,” said Arief. Arief expected the people to people relationships including the socio-cultural relations between the people of Indonesia and Australia could still be well maintained. So far, his party monitored there was no significant effect related to the threats announced by the Australian government. Nevertheless, Arief expressed to carefully comment for fear of worsening the situation. “Necessarily, we should not say that we do not worry because they will be likely to prove, but in practice our children will play happily. It can be

he would not correct the target for foreign tourist arrival from Australia or remained on the figure of 1.2 million foreign tourists until the end of this year. “There will be no correction of targets because statistically it does not go down. It has no impact but this does not necessarily mean that we challenge,” he explained. Earlier, Vice President Jusuf Kalla expected the tourism-related industries to improve performance considering the development of tourism in Indonesia still lost out compared to our neighboring countries, while Indonesia had everything such as the beauty of nature, unique culture and history. “Indonesia is more complete. What is lacking so that this great country

is visited by less tourists?” asked Kalla. Kalla underlined about the things that hindered the entry of foreign tourists. According to him, the administrative problems should be improved such as by multiplying visa on arrival and free visa, improving immigration services, making attractive provision, doing good promotion as well as reducing cost. “Tourism is not only advertising but also good news. Bali has complete potential such as sea, mountain, infrastructure and hospitality,” he said. (kmb25/010) News can also be heard in “Bali Image” at Global Radio FM 96.5 from 9.30 until 10.00 am.
