DENPASAR - Bali Government has not given any reaction and response to the issuance of recommendation in order the Governor of Bali cancelled the cooperation between the Bali Government and PT Tirta Rahmat Bahari based on the permit on the utilization of mangrove forest in the area of Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Denpasar. Spokesperson of Bali Government, Ketut Teneng, had not given clear answer whether the Governor of Bali would undertake the recommendation or the permit would continue. After waiting for nearly an hour in his office on Monday (Nov 12), Ketut Teneng refused to be interviewed and asked reporters to write down the questions. “Simply write down what you’d like to ask. Probably, it (the answer) cannot be given today,” said Teneng to reporters. Even, when asking to give a few comments on the issuance of the recommendation, Teneng claimed if he could not respond it and he hurried to attend a meeting.

Even, Teneng claimed not to know exactly whether the recommendation letter had been received by the Bali Government. “I will check it first whether it has been received,” he said briefly. As known, Chairman of the Bali House, AA Ngurah Oka Ratmadi or familiarly known as Cok Rat, had issued a recommendation to Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, to revoke the permit on the utilization of mangrove forest by investor covering 102.22 hectares of land in the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park at Suwung Kauh, Denpasar. Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, was also forwarded to the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Chairmen of the Bali House and the Regent/ Mayor throughout Bali. The recommendation carried two points. Firstly, it asked the Governor of Bali to cancel the cooperation between the Bali Government and PT Tirtha Rahmat Bahari as set forth in the Governor Decree No. 1.051/03-L/HK/2012. Secondly, it requested the Governor of Bali and the House to always make coordination in making policy related to the utilization and management of mangrove forests in the territory of Bali Province. Hamlet Chief of Baler Bale Agung, I Ketut Sumadiasa, said the six people becoming the victims of the dog bite had been treated with anti-rabies vaccine (VAR). Similarly, the residents who were bitten by dogs in the Morning Market had also been given such a vaccine. One of the residents bitten at the Morning Market was a child of six years old. Meanwhile, the Head of Jembrana Health Agency, I Putu Suasta, confirmed the rabid dog bite cases at Baler Bale Agung. According to him, the incident should be taken seriously. Balinese Temple Ceremony Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion. The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines. In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbulumbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

NEW YORK - Most people getting their cholesterol checked may not need to fast beforehand, a new Canadian study suggests. Researchers found the blood tests showed similar average total cholesterol and “good” HDL cholesterol readings, in particular, regardless of whether patients had eaten recently or avoided food for more than eight hours, as is typically recommended. Eliminating the fasting requirement before cholesterol tests would be more convenient for patients and for labs, which often get slammed

with tests in the morning when most fasting patients come in, researchers said. “There are logistic challenges when you’re going to get a fasting sample on everybody,” said Dr. J. Michael Gaziano, who wrote a commentary accompanying the new study. “It makes long lines and it makes long waiting times, and if that in any way discourages patients from

NEW YORK — New York Times Co. CEO Mark Thompson started his job Monday amid a widening scandal at his former employer, the BBC. When the Times hired him in August, Thompson was hailed as someone who could help the company at a time when print publications are suffering from the loss of readers and advertisers. The deal, which still needs bankruptcy court approval, will come in the form of new loans from Centerbridge Partners, GSO Capital Partners, UBS and JPMorgan Chase & Co, Kodak said in a statement. The financing is contingent on the company receiving at least $500 million for a patent portfolio it has been trying to sell for more than a year, Kodak said. The package should allow Kodak to emerge from bankruptcy in the first half of 2013, Antonio Perez, Kodak’s chief executive, said in the statement. “The significance of this agreement for Kodak is that it establishes a clear path for our emergence as a stronger, more focused company,” Perez said. Kodak will likely be a different company exiting bankruptcy than it was going in. In addition to selling its patent portfolio, Kodak must sell all or part of its document imaging and personalized imaging businesses in order to convert the loan into postbankruptcy financing. Coined by writers of the satirical television show “The Thick of It,” omnishambles has been applied to everything from government PR blunders to the crisis-ridden preparations for the London Olympics. FIFA reform talks on age, term limits, World Cup bids

A FIFA working group began talks Monday which could result in age and term limits for world football leaders, and change how World Cup hosts are chosen. FIFA said a 10-point proposal will now be sent to national federations by the panel of chief executives and legal directors from FIFA and its six continental confederations. The FIFA Congress of 209 countries is scheduled to meet next May and approve ongoing reforms, which were promised by president Sepp Blatter after a series of bribery and bidding scandals rocked the governing body. Proposals under discussion include an upper age limit of 72 for FIFA election candidates and a two-term, eight-year limit for the presidency. FIFA’s 209 member countries will likely be asked to choose future World Cup hosts instead of the FIFA executive committee, which was discredited by corruption allegations linked to the 2018 and 2022 bidding contests two years ago. The panel is continuing work started by a statutes task force chaired by Theo Zwaniger, the former Germany federation leader who joined FIFA’s ruling committee on the same June 2011 day that Blatter, now 76, won a fourth term. Zwanziger’s suggested changes include requiring all FIFA candidates to pass integrity checks before being allowed to stand for office. Zwanziger wants Europe to give up two of its three FIFA vice presidencies, including one shared as a privilege by the four British federations. For future World Cup hosts, Zwanziger’s task force proposed that the full Congress elects the winner from a three-bid slate presented by the executive committee. The next contest, to choose the 2026 host, is unlikely to be decided before 2018. Alonso to drive in charity karting race in Brazil

Felipe Massa says Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso will drive in the charity karting race he hosts every year in Brazil. It will be the first time Alonso participates in the “Internacional Challenge of the Stars” organized by Massa, who says he is also close to announcing that seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher and MotoGP star Valentino Rossi will compete. Schumacher has twice won the charity race, which will take place Jan. 12-13 in the southern Brazilian city of Florianopolis. F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari won the event last year. Other drivers who competed in 2011 included Rubens Barrichello, Nelson Piquet Jr., Jerome D’Ambrosio, Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan. The money from ticket sales goes to local charities.
