THE INCUBATOR, A SPACE FOR STUDENTS AND CO-WORKERS STUDENT HOUSING AND CO-WORKING SPACE Montpellier, France 3rd year, 2018. Group of 3. Mr Rehault. *Winner of the student competition for the rehabilitation of the Student housing of Vert-bois in the category «environmentally friendly».
During my sixth semester of study, a project was organized as a competition among all third-year students. We were to design student housing in the parking lot of an existing campus. My group and I decided to propose a building that included bioclimatic concepts. We chose to make buildings that were composed of a greenhouse between two blocks of housing, allowing for natural heating in the winter and a ventilation stack in the summer. Finally, to provide social interaction, we included a co-working space that would be shared between students and a diversity of workers.

SOUVENIRS CEVENOLS, BEYOND A CAMPING... CAMPING, PUBLIC SPACE AND HOUSING Pont-de-Montvert, France 5th year, 2019. Group of 2. Mr Perris
Located in a small village in the south of France, this project concerns the rehabilitation of the local campsite which has become dilapidated. With my partner, we designed a building that would not only meet the tourist demand for accommodation, but would also provide facilities to meet the needs of the inhabitants of this small village all year long. It contains permanent housing that is missing in the village, an amphitheater and a public square to host the events organized by the many associations. The idea was to create a building that would be in continuity with the urban development of the village but also to border the road and offer a protected and peaceful camping area for tourists.

CHANAC, REVITALIZE A TOWN CENTER ASSOCIATIVE COUNTER, CO-WORKING SPACE, WORKSHOPS FOR ARTISTIC RESIDENCIES AND A PARTICIPATIVE VEGETABLE GARDEN. Chanac, France 5th year, End-of-study project 2020. Personal project Mr Maraval. Digital version of the thesis: https://issuu.com/enzodaval/docs/plaquette_pfe_issuu
Chanac is a small village located in the heart of the Lozère region. It is characterized by a village center built in the Middle Ages and with typical architecture of the region. Its center, for a long time the heart of its village life, is gradually losing its attractiveness. Following an in-depth analysis of the context, a mixed program is proposed to revive the village center by connecting the villagers and encouraging the reception of new population within the territory of Chanac. Designed in a dynamic of continuity with the architectural language. The local vernacular has thus been a landmark on which a contemporary dimension has been attached. The project also takes advantage to the maximum of sustainable solutions. The materials chosen in short circuit and the implementation of bioclimatic principles come to put forward the considerable qualities of the site and what it can bring to the energy efficiency of the building.

FROM VERNACULAR TO BIOCLIMATIC IN TROPICAL CLIMATE, AN AWARENESS MASTER THESIS Montpellier, France 5th year, 2020. Mr Devillers
During the last year of my master’s degree, I chose as my thesis topic the transition from vernacular to bioclimatic architecture in tropical climates. I studied the definition of the vernacular, the impact of the industrial revolution on it, and the lessons that the modern movement has taught us. I also explored what bioclimatic architecture means in tropical regions and what techniques and approaches shape this way of design. Throughout the thesis, I conducted two case studies located in New Caledonia, one on Kanak culture, specifically a traditional village, and the other on one of Renzo Piano’s most emblematic buildings: the Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center.

A BUILDING FOR A NEW START IN LIFE CENTRE EDUCATIF FERME Montsinéry-Tonnegrande, French Guyana 2021 Cottalorda & Pérès Architectes From the schematic design to the construction documents
During my time at Cottalorda & Pérès Architects I was responsible for this building project aimed at reintegrating young people with difficult backgrounds into society. An extremely interesting project from the point of view of the program but also considering the context in which it is implanted. The tropical climate of Guyana pushes us to give as much importance to the exterior design as to the interior design. Natural ventilation, natural lighting and security within the building were the client’s key words.

Over the course of five months I was responsible for the competition of beacon restauration workshops and offices for the French Office of Biodiversity (OFB) and customs of the harbor next to the project. The significant program of this building was a real challenge for me. I was in charge of the exchanges with engineers and the company that were in our team. I was also drawing the building as he was evolving throughout the course of the competition.

During this competiton we were asked to design 10 units for the french army. The project site was very steep and the reglementation was restrictive. GIVE A NEW LANDMARK TO APATOU ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER AND POLICE STATION Apatou, French Guyana 2021 Cottalorda & Pérès Architectes Competition
The aim of this competition was to design an administrative center for the town of Apatou. It was an urban project as well as a architectural project. Located in the center of the city the idea was to make it a landmark by linking a soon to be public space and the town hall. We also wanted this building to be a gathering place for the inhabitants so we created a large public space in front of the administrative center. Architecturally speaking we integrated two massive patio in the building to improve natural ventilation and natural lightning.

MODERN VILLA IN THE HILLS VILLA Rémire-Montjoly, French Guyana 2021 Cottalorda & Pérès Architectes From schematic design to design development
For this project, the client requested a three bedroom villa in the hills of Remire-Montjoly, the style was to be «modernistic and cubic». For this project, I was in charge of the design during the first phases of the project. Built on two levels, the idea was to arrive in the first floor where we had the garage and a sewing room. On the second floor, the living area opens up to the view next to the sleeping area where all the bedrooms are located. I incorporated wood panels into the facade, which will give a light and shadow effect to the interior.

The variety of projects I have had the chance to work on has given me an idea of the diversity that is architecture. From the contact with the client to the exchanges with the engineers and companies I worked with, I learned to have a sense of responsibility and to develop my autonomy. I know there is always more to learn in this field and that is what drives me to want to discover more in every project I work on.
