Welcome to ESS Expo 2026 We're thrilled to welcome you to the 2026 edition of the Environmental Services & Solutions (ESS) Expo - the UK's most comprehensive event for the environmental services industry. Brought to you by ROAR B2B, ESS Expo returns to the NEC Birmingham on 16-17 September, and this year we're not just bigger - we’re better connected and more focused on the people driving this sector forward. Building on last year's expansion of the show, 2026 is about deepening the connections between the people, businesses, and ideas shaping resource and waste management, recycling, net zero, water, air, land management, geotechnical engineering, energy, and the circular economy. It's not enough to just bring the sector under one roof; this year, ESS Expo is giving you more ways to meet, network, learn, and celebrate all your hard work and achievements. That starts with RWM Connect, our new flagship networking evening co-hosted with CIWM on the evening of day one, uniting over 900 resource-industry professionals for an unmissable night of networking at The VOX. For the air, water and land management community, we've expanded the EMMA Awards,
recognising and celebrating the innovation, dedication, and hard graft that keeps this industry moving. For the next generation of environmental innovators, our new Start-Up, Scale-Up, Innovation & Investors Network puts emerging businesses and investors in the same room as the industry's biggest buyers. We're also tackling the sector's talent pipeline head-on with a dedicated Careers Fair, connecting employers with the skills the environmental services industry needs to grow. Outside, Waste Trucks Live brings the sector's waste vehicles and technology to life in action, while our new VIP Fleet Professionals Programme gives fleet decision-makers a curated, hosted experience built around their priorities. Together, these new features sit alongside the suppliers, keynote debates, live demonstrations, and policy insight ESS Expo is known for. Dive into this digital preview to explore everything ESS Expo 2026 has to offer, and don't forget to secure your free ticket if you haven't already! We look forward to welcoming you in September.

Two Days, One Show, Everything Environmental There’s a moment every September where the environmental services industry stops being scattered across hundreds of offices, depots and sites, and becomes one industry in one room. This year, that space is bigger and busier than ever. ESS Expo returns to the NEC Birmingham on 16-17 September, bringing seven co-located shows and more than 16,000 professionals together for two high-impact days at the NEC Birmingham. But numbers alone don’t capture what two days at ESS actually feels like because the show isn’t just one event, it’s dozens of them happening at once, and the challenge for most visitors isn’t finding something worth their time, it’s deciding what to prioritise. Out in the Live Demonstration Area, shredders, balers and material handlers run three times a day under real operating conditions - no staging, no simulation, just kit doing exactly what it would do on-site. Nearby, fleet managers get a show built around their specific decisions, with specialist vehicles grouped by application and a VIP programme designed to fast-track the people who actually sign off on procurement. If you’ve got a fleet renewal on the horizon, this is where your shortlist gets made.
And at the centre of it all, as ever, are the world-class suppliers showcasing the latest in sustainable solutions. Hundreds of them line the floor across the seven shows, from the household names anchoring the aisles to the smaller specialists solving one very specific problem for one very specific part of your operation. Whether you’re comparing product ranges, sourcing a new supplier relationship or just seeing what’s changed since last year, this is where those conversations happen face-to-face. This is your chance to see what’s actually on offer, and ask the questions that matter. Step back from the hardware and the conversation shifts to ideas. Across two days, more than 450 speakers take to the theatres - voices from SUEZ, Google, easyJet, Jacobs and the Environment Agency among them covering everything from AI and digital compliance to decarbonisation, green skills and the policy shifts reshaping how the sector operates. It’s the kind of programme where you walk in with one question and leave with three answers you can actually act on.
Then there’s the business of what comes next. A dedicated network for start-ups, scale-ups and growthstage SMEs puts emerging environmental businesses stand-to-stand with the investors, corporate buyers and established players who can actually take them further - timed, this year, right alongside major regulatory change that’s about to reshape how the whole industry handles data and compliance. For founders, it’s a rare chance to be in the room with people who write cheques, not just badges. None of this works without people, and ESS Expo goes further than most shows in making sure the next generation of the sector gets a proper look-in. A careers fair runs alongside a two-day talent programme tackling the skills gap head-on, and the achievements of that next generation get properly marked too - through award ceremonies recognising rising stars, standout changemakers, and the organisations setting the bar across land, air and water.
Local authority professionals get their own dedicated space to trade notes and get direct policy guidance away from the noise of the main floor, and by the time day one wraps, the conversations don’t stop - they just move a short walk down the road, into an evening built specifically for the people who spent the day on the show floor and aren’t quite done yet. That’s the thing about ESS Expo: it’s not a single show to walk around, it’s a network of them running in parallel - live machinery, fresh ideas, investment, talent and people, alongside hundreds of suppliers ready to talk through exactly what your operation needs next. Turn the page to find out what’s on, who’s speaking, and where you need to be across the two days.

Inside ESS Expo’s Start-Up, Scale-Up, Innovation & Investors Network Early-stage environmental businesses will get direct access to more than 16,000 industry professionals, investors and corporate buyers this September, as ESS Expo launches its Start-Up, Scale-Up, Innovation & Investors Network at the NEC, Birmingham. Running across both days of the show, the zone is built to solve a specific problem: emerging companies with commercially proven technology often can’t afford - or can’t get visibility at - major trade events. The network puts them stand-to-stand with established industry leaders, in front of the venture capitalists, angel investors, banks, private equity firms, legal advisers and public sector buyers actively looking to fund and partner with the sector’s next wave of environmental businesses.
Who’s exhibiting
The Start-Up, Scale-Up Theatre
The zone is open to three groups: start-ups under three years old, scaleups aged three to seven years expanding nationally or internationally, and established SMEs looking for a cost-effective route to new markets or investment.
A dedicated theatre programme across both days runs founders and investors through the realities of funding, growth and exit in the environmental sector.
Confirmed exhibitors already span some of the most active corners of the circular economy. Polytag is tagging and tracing packaging materials through the recycling system to give brands real-time circularity data. Scrapp offers a zero-waste platform that cuts cost and landfill volume through digital waste tracking. Asbestos Cleaning UK brings patented technology capable of stripping 100% of asbestos from contaminated concrete rubble, turning hazardous demolition waste into reusable material. Helix8’s SpectrAI platform gives recyclers and manufacturers AI-verified traceability to prove compliance with EU PPWR rules. Xscindo processes e-waste through closed-loop thermal technology, guaranteeing data destruction while recovering critical and precious metals and eliminating forever chemicals. And with Defra’s mandatory Digital Waste Tracking Service going live on 1 October 2026, Vaste’s feedstock intelligence platform - built to file waste movements in seconds - arrives at exactly the right moment for UK operators. Emissable Ltd and Inviam Biometals will also be featured in the zone, bringing their solutions to the offering.
SHOW PREVIEW
Key themes include building commercial traction and scalable foundations, attracting investment, navigating Seed to Series A funding, identifying the environmental technologies and subsectors drawing investor interest, and assessing the opportunities and risks of corporate partnerships and incubators. A VIP welcome, built around fleet professionals
Waste Trucks Live is the most comprehensive showcase of specialist waste trucks ever brought together at a live event, and it’s arriving at RWM Expo 2026 as your one-stop-shop for fleet decision-making.
Alongside Waste Trucks Live, RWM Expo is launching the VIP Fleet Professionals Programme - a dedicated initiative connecting the UK’s most senior fleet decision-makers with the suppliers best placed to support them.
Rather than working the halls stand by stand, fleet operators, managers and buyers will find vehicles grouped by body type - RCVs, skip & hook loaders, food waste trucks, tippers & tankers, sweepers and specialist bodies - making it straightforward to navigate straight to the applications that matter to your operation. Across the two show days, you’ll be able to see vehicles working, and find build quality, configuration and realworld application are all there to assess in one visit. For anyone with fleet investment or specification decisions on the horizon, that means: • Comparing designs and applications side by side, in a practical setting • Assessing layouts and configurations in a live, operational environment
This isn’t a general visitor pass. It’s a curated experience designed around the needs of people with real fleet decisions to make. Registering is simple: get your free ticket as normal and tick the “Fleet Professional” option on the form. From there, every part of the visit is designed to save you time and put you in the right conversations: • Fast-track entry - your dedicated fleet professional badge arrives ahead of the show, so you walk straight in • Complimentary on-site parking • An invitation-only fleet networking event on the afternoon of 16 September, connecting you with peers and leading suppliers in a relaxed setting • Complimentary refreshments for the conversations in-between
• Putting informed, operational questions directly to manufacturers • Shortlisting faster and reducing risk in the decision-making process • Seeing proven, operational-ready vehicles across multiple waste applications It’s also a chance to compare notes with peers facing the same fleet renewal, specification and compliance challenges - sense-checking decisions with people who understand the day-to-day realities of running a waste fleet, and leaving better equipped to make the call.

Waste Processing Live: See the Machinery in Action at RWM Expo 2026 Static displays only tell half the story. That’s why RWM Expo 2026 is bringing back one of the show’s standout features - Waste Processing Live, a series of spectacular working waste & recycling machinery demonstrations you won’t find anywhere else. Held in the outdoor Live Demonstration Area, this is your chance to watch shredders, balers, material handlers, sorting technology, fire suppression systems, and more running exactly as they would do on-site - not staged, not simulated. If you’re weighing up new kit for your operation, there’s no better way to see what actually sets one machine apart from another other than watching it work under real conditions, in its intended environment. Confirmed demonstrators so far include JCB, Natural Engineering/Hammel, LiuGong Machinery, Global Machinery Solutions Limited, JMC Recycling Systems - with more to be announced ahead of the show.
When to catch it Demonstrations run three times a day, both days of the show: 10:30 AM | 12:30 PM | 2:30 PM
Why it matters RWM Expo is the UK’s leading event for the waste, recycling and resource management sector - bringing together operators, contractors, local authorities, processors and buyers all hunting for the same thing: equipment that actually performs. The Live Demonstration Area lets the machinery do the talking. Whether you’re sourcing your next shredder, comparing baler throughput, or just want to see the latest sorting tech tested and working live, head to the outdoor area and watch it happen.

Energy Efficiency & Waste Heat Recovery from Incinerators… and More! Modular ORC systems, made in France As a French manufacturer of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) systems, ENOGIA designs and supplies modular solutions to recover heat that would otherwise be lost and convert it into electricity directly on site. Our technology can be integrated with a wide range of applications, including gas engines, biomass boilers and waste incineration plants, helping operators improve overall energy efficiency, reduce electricity purchased from the grid and lower their carbon footprint.
From thermal assessment to commissioning At ESS/RWM, our team will present ENOGIA's expertise in delivering waste heat recovery projects, from initial thermal assessment and system design through to integration and commissioning. We will also highlight several of our UK references and ongoing projects, demonstrating how ORC technology can be deployed on existing facilities with minimal impact on plant operations.
Discover the Smart Power Alliance Alongside waste heat recovery, ENOGIA will also present the Smart Power Alliance, bringing together complementary technologies to help industrial sites better understand, manage and optimise their energy use. Through this alliance, we will introduce energy monitoring and optimisation solutions based on a non-intrusive measurement. These solutions provide industrial operators with a detailed, real-time understanding of how energy is consumed throughout their facilities. Advanced analytics help identify abnormal consumption, inefficiencies and potential energy-saving opportunities, enabling continuous improvement and supporting broader decarbonisation strategies.
Visit the ENOGIA team at ESS/RWM to discover the Smart Power Alliance and discuss your waste heat sources, energy efficiency challenges and opportunities to reduce consumption while generating additional electricity from energy currently being lost.

See the Surfbee ASV in Action at WWEM 2026 Visitors to WWEM 2026 will have the opportunity to get up close to one of the most talked-about innovations in environmental monitoring, as Xylem showcases the Surfbee Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) on Stand WW-L84. Developed by Australian robotics specialist Surfbee Hydrobotics and introduced to the UK through an exclusive partnership with Xylem, the Surfbee is a remotely operated and autonomous drone boat designed to transform how water quality, flow and river health data are collected. As environmental monitoring requirements continue to increase across the UK water sector, utilities, regulators, researchers and environmental organisations are seeking safer, smarter and more efficient ways to gather high-quality information from rivers, reservoirs and other inland waters. The Surfbee addresses this challenge by combining autonomous navigation with Xylem’s market-leading monitoring technologies. Compatible with YSI EXO water quality sondes and SonTek acoustic profiling instruments, the compact platform can collect detailed water quality, flow and bathymetric data while operating in locations that may be difficult, costly or potentially unsafe to access using traditional monitoring methods.
SHOW PREVIEW
The technology has already been demonstrated extensively across the UK and is now being adopted by several water utilities. During field deployments and customer training events, Xylem specialists have demonstrated how operators can quickly create GPSguided survey missions using a simple Android-based controller, enabling efficient collection of high-resolution environmental data. James Chapman, Environmental Solutions Business Development Manager at Xylem, said: “Using the Surfbee app on an Android controller, we can map precise GPScontrolled missions for high-quality ADCP flow discharge and water quality data collection. It represents a significant step forward in water quality and flow monitoring and opens up exciting opportunities to gain new insights into river and environmental performance.” Growing public and industry attention on river health has highlighted the importance of reliable environmental monitoring. Recent media coverage surrounding UK Rivers and recreational water use has demonstrated the increasing demand for accurate, evidence-based environmental data. While assessments of water quality remain the responsibility of water companies and environmental regulators, technologies such as Surfbee provide the detailed information needed to support
informed decision-making, Section 82 sonde siting and effluent mixing surveys & environmental improvement programmes. At WWEM 2026, visitors will be able to discover how autonomous monitoring platforms are helping organisations: • Monitor river water quality • Measure flow and discharge • Investigate environmental hotspots • Support reservoir and catchment management • Optimise Section 82 monitoring programmes • Improve sonde deployment and effluent mixing studies • Support ecological research and environmental assessments With autonomous navigation, live video streaming, 5G connectivity and seamless integration with Xylem monitoring equipment, the Surfbee represents an exciting new approach to gathering the environmental intelligence required to support healthier rivers and smarter water management. Visit Xylem on Stand WWL84 at WWEM 2026 to see the Surfbee ASV and discover how autonomous sampling is shaping the future of river health assessment.

Dennis Eagle to reveal CrewSense AI camera system for enhanced RCV operator awareness and new ORUS model for organic material collections At RWM, Dennis Eagle and Terberg Matec UK will launch two new solutions designed to support more efficient waste collection operations. Dennis Eagle will debut CrewSense AI at the show, an integrated operational behaviour system fully compatible with Terberg bin lift systems. CrewSense AI provides real-time behavioural awareness in critical working zones to help crews work smarter and more diligently. The AI camera system is designed to address at-risk actions at the rear of the vehicle, helping to enhance situational awareness, reduce near-miss incidents and downtime, alleviate reliance on memory and routine habits, and improve crew confidence. For fleet operators, the system provides accurate and timely incident reports and is readily adaptable to different vehicle configurations. With Simpler Recycling legislation driving increased volumes of organic waste collections, Terberg Matec UK will also unveil the new ORUS 11 HD at RWM. The latest addition to the company’s compact satellite RCV range features an 11m3 watertight, leakproof body essential for organic waste collections. This further expands the business’ popular ORUS portfolio of vehicles, which currently spans from 5m3 to 7m3. Featuring semi-compaction loading and an integral hydraulic lift capable of handling bins from 120 to 1,280 litres, the ORUS 11 HD now offers a market-leading payload of 7,800kg. This makes the vehicle ideally suited to commercial food waste and glass collections, with full dynamic bin weighing and RFID integration capability. SHOW PREVIEW

CHANGE NEVER STOPS. VANDEN DELIVERS CERTAINTY THROUGHOUT. Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), Simpler Recycling, PRN and PERN reform, and digital waste tracking are often treated as separate developments. In reality, they are part of the same shift: a recycling market where evidence, traceability and confidence matter more than ever. Each change brings its challenges.
WHERE VANDEN DELIVERS CERTAINTY DRS: In multiple DRS regions Vanden actively supports on dealing with DRS itself and the material that is outside of scope. Vanden helps by monitoring material flows, identifying dependable outlets and supporting buyers and suppliers as streams shift.
DRS could alter the availability and value of clean PET and aluminium by moving material into new return channels. Simpler Recycling will increase pressure on collection frequency and sorting quality and create uncertainty around material offtake. PRN and PERN reform expose businesses to greater scrutiny, tighter evidence requirements and the risk of buying or relying on evidence that does not stand up. Digital waste tracking will make gaps in documentation, inconsistent records or weak chain-of-custody processes much more visible.
Simpler Recycling: Vanden is actively supporting UK collectors and sorters and reprocessors as they make informed decisions about supply and offtake. PRN and PERN Responsibility: Vanden helps by working through accredited routes, maintaining clear documentation and giving suppliers confidence in the evidence chain. Digital Waste Tracking: When records
