and events hosted at its facility on Park Avenue in Quarryville. SECA’s 15-acre property includes a skatepark, a basketball court, a playground, a skating rink and a swimming pool. SECA also opens its park to host camping trips, practices for local sports teams, exercise groups and educational classes. Every summer, SECA opens its community pool for recreational swimming, swim meets and youth swimming classes. The pool remains open until L abor Day weekend, after which the pool is closed and the chemicals are removed from the water. The pool season concludes with the annual Doggie Dip event, during which dog owners are invited to bring their pets for a swim. This year,
the Doggie Dip will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7. SECA will host its first Country Stampede from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. Community members may purchase tickets at a set price per person to participate in country line dancing at 7 p.m., as well as various games, prize drawings and a bonfire. “We try to provide different things the community doesn’t have,” said Trevor Marsh, SECA’s director. “There are many things, like our flag football program in the spring, that few other organizations offer in the area. We want to add events that breathe new life into our community.” For more information, visit https://secarec.com or search for “Southern End Community Association on Facebook.
The show will feature Midst the Noise, a local outfit that includes members of Lampeter United Methodist Church’s praise and worship band.
