Lancaster County Cruisers plan annual car show

The car show will feature a variety of vehicles, from classic cruisers to new motorcycles. BY ADRIAN ESCHENWALD

ancaster County Cruisers will host its 23rd annual car show at the Willow Street Fire Company, 2901 Willow Street Pike, on Saturday, July 1. The rain-orshine event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it will benefit local nonprofit organizations in Conestoga and Quarryville.

Registration will be available for a set price on the day of the show, and the first 150 participants to register will receive a dash plaque. Owners of any vehicle from classic cars to motorcycles to trucks may register for the show. Over 40 trophies, which are provided by the local businesses that sponsor the event, will be given out during the show. Lancaster County Cruisers will present a

President’s Trophy as well as a Best of Show Trophy. Music will be provided throughout the day by disc jockey Jeff Primaldi. Food will be available to purchase from two food trucks, and desserts will be sold by an ice cream vendor and a baked goods stand. Every year, the club donates a portion of the funds raised by the show to

Solanco Neighborhood Ministries’ food bank in Quarryville. In recent years, Lancaster County Cruisers also decided to use the show to support the Building Bridges Foundation at Anderson Farm in Conestoga. Building Bridges offers equine therapy services to veterans who are experiencing PTSD from their time in the armed forces. “Helping the

food bank and Building Bridges Foundation makes all the work everyone in the club does worthwhile,” said Richard Lanham, a member of Lancaster County Cruisers and event coordinator for the car show. “We also want to thank Willow Street Fire Company for allowing us to have our car show there for all of these years.” Lancaster County Cruisers

will operate a booth at the event to offer information on the club and applications for membership. The club is open to car enthusiasts of any kind; owning a vehicle is not a requirement to join. The members of Lancaster County Cruisers meet once every month to plan the club’s event, coordinate trips to car shows and discuss vehicles that are for sale. See Car show pg 3

About three years ago, first responders were called to the scene of an accident on Little Britain Road, just down the street from Britain Hill Venue and Winery. Debbie Helm, the owner of the venue, witnessed EMTs, firefighters and police officers rush to the location. Helm recalled the tragic outcome of the accident, which resulted in multiple injuries and deaths, but also remembered the courage of the emergency personnel who responded. “It was very traumatic for those first responders. We could see (the accident) from our winery, and it made me realize See First responders pg 8

Building on a successful 80-plus-year history and as a way to meet the needs of the community, West Fallowfield Christian School (WFCS) will add ninth and 10th grades this fall, and another grade level will be added each of the two years afterward. “In the 2025-26 school year, we will be able to say we offer classes for preschool through 12th grade,” said WFCS principal Heather Furlong. Registration is currently underway for grades nine and 10, which will

follow a traditional model, meeting in person on Mondays through Fridays. Like the other grades, classes will include art, music, physical education, Bible, Spanish and electives. WFCS, which formed in 1941, currently offers preschool through eighth grade, but a decision was made to add grades nine and 10. “Together the board and the administration heard the needs of our community,” said Furlong, explaining how the decision came about to offer the additional grades. “It has always been a vision and See WFCS pg 2
