Youth Field Day Invites Kids to Get Outside BY CATHY MOLITORIS

reat things happen when kids get outside. They can discover new skills, develop self-confidence, make new friends and, most of all, have fun. Kids ages 10 to 15 are invited to the 31st annual Youth Field Day, organized by the Lancaster County Sportsmen For Youth. It will take place at the Milton Grove Sportsmen’s Club, 731 Milton Grove Road North, Elizabethtown, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. “We encourage kids and their parents to come to our Youth Field Day if they want to experience a day of outdoor activities,” said Lynn Carruthers, a volunteer with the event. “The 10 stations they will get to experience for 35 minutes each may vary slightly year to year but are typically archery,

The Quarryville Library Center, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, now has a Memory Care bag available for patrons to check out from the library. The Memory Care bag is designed to help people with dementia or other cognitive impairments remember things and have conversations with loved ones. A range of practical exercises is included in the themed kit to encourage mental and emotional stimulation. The kit is designed to elicit any kind of response; it is critical to validate the response regardless of what it is.
