“Alot of these songs come from personal testimonies, things we walked through - good and bad - and the songs that came out of them,” said Bryar Bullock of Paradise, the worship pastor at Freedom Life Church, when announcing the release of “High Praise,” a new album produced by Freedom Life Worship. “All of these songs are songs that we regularly sing at our church on Sundays, and we did a night where we sang all the songs live and hit the record button. The album is the result of that.”
The new worship album, released on Jan. 9, features six
original songs written in-house, and one cover song. “The teamall of the singers and musicians - put together the album. They volunteered their time and talents to create the sound,” noted Caleb Masteller of Cochranville, creative
director at Freedom Life.
“The music that we put out is songs that we wrote together as a team that really capture the heartbeat and the sound of church and our worship team,” Bullock added. “We were singing these songs on

Seventy-four years ago, Dennis Denenberg received services from the Society of Crippled Children and Adults that profoundly affected him and changed the course of his life. At the age of 4, Denenberg received speech therapy that turned a weakness into a strength.
It’s the kind of story that the
organization, now known as Schreiber Center for Pediatric Devel opment, has routinely authored over the last nine decades.

“I really garbled my words; it wasn’t just a stutter,” said Denenberg, clearly and succinctly. “You could really not understand what I was saying. My time at Schreiber opened the door to a successful K-through-12 experience. It opened

Although he previously presented a program virtually, this will be the first time that Klingensmith has visited the school in person. “He presented a program two or three years ago, and it was very well received,” noted school social worker Meredith Burnett. “At that time, the format was different. We did a round robin with different presentations, and almost everyone went to his presentation.”
Child care will again be provided for this session as it was previously. “We had a number of

and crafts and games for children,” said Burnett. “(Child care was provided) so it would not be a barrier for people to come.”

Sunday mornings and really enjoying them and hearing a lot of feedback about how much (the congregation was) enjoying worshipping to these songs.”
The goal of producing the album was to share the church’s music with congregation members, as well as the community. “First, we decided to put them together so church members could worship whenever they wanted to in their cars or their homes,” said Bullock. “Secondly, we thought it would be a blessing to people outside the walls of our church. We didn’t want to limit it (to Freedom Life members). We wanted people to listen and worship and encounter the presence of God through the songs.”
Bullock. “It takes a village to do something like this. There were so many people who had a part of this. It wasn’t one individual. It was a collective effort to pull it off.”
Many of the songs on the album were written more than a year ago, and they were recorded on one evening in March 2025. “Everything you hear and what we took pride in is that (we used) 90% of what was recorded that night ‘as is.’ There was not much that had to be touched up,” Bullock added. “We opened the doors and said everyone is welcome to come. It was a live recording, and it turned into a worship night where people could be a part of it and sing and worship with us.”

the door to college, and I became an educator and a nationally recognized speaker. Schreiber changed my life. I’ve become involved as a donor and a volunteer.”
A 78-year-old resident of Manheim Township, Denenberg is believed to be the oldest living Schreiber patient. He’s also leading an initiative to find any former Schreiber patient who is older than him, someone who would relieve him of the unofficial title of Schreiber’s oldest living patient.
“I am, at this point, the oldest living client that we know of,” said Denenberg. “We’re trying to find out if I am truly the oldest or if there is someone else we can honor.”
Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development, which is located at 625 Community Way, Lancaster, is searching for its oldest living patient as part of a celebration commemorating 90 years of service to the Lancaster County community and surrounding counties. That oldest living patient will be honored at Schreiber’s 42nd
annual gala, set for 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at DoubleTree Resort, 2400 Willow Street Pike, Lancaster.
As part of getting the word out about the search, officials of Schreiber have contacted supporters through newsletters, emails and social media; written letters to the editors of local newspapers; and appeared on podcasts and radio shows and in television segments.
“(Schreiber’s) work is really critical,” said Denenberg. “They never give up on a child. Their goal is to get children to a point where they don’t have to come to Schreiber anymore.”
Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development provides services like physical therapy, occupational therapy, education services, parent services and, of course, speech therapy, to about 2,000 kids from Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks, York, Chester and Dauphin counties each year. Over the years, Schreiber has served tens of thousands of children with disabilities.
“There are some amazing
stories of Schreiber success which may have never happened without its intervention,” said Denenberg. “It’s a place you can bring your child, and their services have expanded greatly over the years. I think there’s still a lot of room to grow in terms of public awareness. I think parents spread the word. (Schreiber officials) want to reach as many children as possible. There’s clearly room for Schreiber’s image to be put into the community more forcefully.”
An advocate and an ambassador, Denenberg has been one of Schreiber’s top “duck salespeople” for one of the organization’s most lucrative fundraisers, its annual Rubber Duckie Race and Festival, which this year will be conducted from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. One of Denenberg’s personal resolutions for 2026 is to become more involved with the organization that was so instrumental in his development.
“I actually want to work with children. I just have to get my clearances,” said Denenberg. “I admire the
goal of helping children to become their best. They may be children who are neglected because of their disabilities. Children with disabilities have incredible potential. Edna Schreiber and her assistants gave me such a gift. I’m forever grateful. I don’t know what my life would’ve been like without that speech therapy.”
Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development was originally established as the Society for Crippled Children and Adults in response to the polio epidemic. Edna Schreiber led the organization’s efforts for 31 years before retiring in 1967.
During the late 1980s, the organization shifted its focus toward more specialized pediatric therapy for infants, children and adolescents with developmental delays and disabilities.
“I hope people realize what a gem Schreiber is,” said Denenberg. “The people at Schreiber and the clients are real heroes.” For additional information, go to www.schreiber pediatric.org.

Fathers and father figures and their special guests are invited to attend a Father-Daughter Sweetheart Ball that will take place at Freedom Life Church on Friday, Feb. 27, from 7 to 8 p.m. Men are encouraged to bring their “sweetheart,” whether that is a daughter, granddaughter, niece or another young lady.
The Sweetheart Ball, formerly known as the Daddy-Daughter Dance, has been renamed this year to reflect the fact that girls are welcome to bring guests other than their fathers. Additionally, attendees
are asked to enjoy dinner before heading to the church.
“We changed the name because the event changed slightly. Previously, we offered a meal for attendees, but the attendance has grown over the years beyond our capacity to seat all individuals at one time,” explained Angie Dearolf, Freedom Life communications director. “So this year we are encouraging families to go out to eat before arriving at Freedom Life for the Sweetheart Ball.”
“We also wanted to reduce the emphasis of ‘daddy-daughter’ since there is an invitation for

all girls to attend with their father figures, whether it is a biological relationship, or not,” she added.
In addition to music and dancing, the event will include a photography booth, a craft station and a special card-writing station where fathers and father figures can write a personal note of encouragement for their “sweetheart.” The goal of the event, according to organizers, is to remind the girls that they are loved and valued, as well as to create lasting memories.
The evening will conclude with dessert.
Past attendees have enjoyed the dance, and some of them have attended for many years. “The Daddy-Daughter Dance has been one of the most meaningful traditions in our family,” said Derek Weidman. “I’ve had the privilege of taking my oldest daughter every year since she was 6, and now she’s 16. I’ve also taken my younger daughter since she was 5, and she’s now 8. Year after year, it has created moments we still talk about.”
“My daughters have looked forward to it every year for the past years. My oldest is now 19 and my youngest is 11,” added Fred Montney. “They ask every year if we are going. It’s a great time to spend with your little princess and make unforgettable memories.”
Participants last year included Nate and Mackinlee Carson, who enjoyed each other’s company as well as other attendees.
“It makes me happy to see her enjoy herself with

friends and (enjoy) just our time (as well),” said Nate. “I like that I get to go out to church with my dad,” added Mackinlee.

He has presented internationally on how social media, screen time and digital pressures can impact young people’s mental health. To learn more, visit www.shape thesky.org.
During the program, Klingensmith will discuss TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram; practical, reallife strategies for parents; resources for cyberbullying; and technology contracts and setting expectations. “A technology contract would be between parents and the youths - what the usage expectations are and whatever the family would agree to,” noted Burnett. Burnett said the program is particularly relevant right now with the surge of technology and social media and its effect on students. “This generation of parents are the first to have to navigate youth having the world at their fingertips on smartphones and other devices, and this brings challenges for parents,” she stated. “It’s an important topic. There is a lot of information out there, but

it’s (important) to get good information.”
