FL player Kenny Yeboah visited The Parkesburg P O I N T Yo u t h C e n t e r on Dec. 16 during the agency’s Christmas gift distribution. He toured the facility, met with volunteers and also personally donated winterwear for families in need. Welcoming Yeboah to The POINT was Amy Walton, program director, who pointed out the hundreds of toys that were wrapped and placed in bags ready to be given out. “We have hundreds of kids that come to the youth center, (and parents) call in who need help with Christmas,” she explained. “A lot of the parents ask for hygiene products and clothing, but we all like to NFL player Kenny Yeboah (left) was welcomed by Amy Walton, the program provide gifts for the students. are serving about 90 students this year.” Amy explained that volunteers deliver the gifts to parents in advance, allowing them to place the gifts under the tree for their children themselves. “We fill their orders and pray with them and encourage them for the new year,” she said. Yeboah, who has played tight end for the New York Jets and the Detroit Lions, said he wanted to be part of the Christmastime effort, noting that “giving back to the community is deeply personal” for him. “I just recently played with the Detroit Lions. I am home right now. I got injured, so I am out for the season,” he noted while addressing volunteers and staff members at The POINT. “I wanted to do something for See NFL Player pg 4

Store Staple: Matthew Peifer Celebrates 20 Years of Service With a Smile BY FRANCINE FULTON
Those who shop at Dutch-Way Market in Gap are sure to see the familiar face of Matthew Peifer of Christiana, who was recently honored for working at the store for 20 years. Peifer, whose main job duty is to collect shopping car ts R124384

and assist customers, started at Dutch-Way at age 20. “I had the choice of working in dairy or carts, and I chose carts,” he said, noting that his job choice allowed him to interact more with customers. “I (collect) carts and help people put stuff in their car ts and talk with them.”
“I like working here and helping customers and making them happy,” he added. “Everybody knows me. Some people blow their horn and wave and say hello.” To celebrate the milestone, Peifer earned a monetary bonus and was presented with an insulated mug, engraved with a See Matthew Peifer pg 5
