Craft fair to feature vendors, homemade food, prize drawings and more
O
ur Lady of Consolation C h u rc h w i l l h o s t i t s 38th annual craft fair on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Schneider Parish Center, 2995 Cemetery Road, Parkesburg. The event will feature a sale of crafts, homemade food, an opportunity to win prizes and a visit by Santa. More than 50 artisans, crafters and vendors will be featured on two floors inside the center. “We have 55-plus crafters this year, and if it’s nice, we will have another five
or six people (set up) outside,” said the parish’s director of religious education, Janice Dagney, who is also one of the event organizers. Offered for sale will be wreaths, wooden flags, candles, jewelry, holiday décor, soaps, candles, crocheted and se wn items , pottery and pet items. “Burnt Timbers Winery will join us this year, and we have the PhillyMead Winery,” said Dagney. “A new little bakery - Flour Girl Breads in Parkesburg - will sell breads.” Visitors will also be able to enjoy a chair massage offered by one of the vendors, and face
painting will be available for children for a small fee. Food items offered for sale will include baked goods, homemade chicken corn soup, chili, gourmet chicken salad and quiches. Santa will stop by for a visit and sit for pictures from 10 a.m. to noon. A nominal fee will be charged. “We did confirm that the Parkesburg Grinch will be visiting,” said Dagney, noting that he will also be available at the same time and will pose for photos. Event to benefit Limeville’s Blessings BY FRANCINE FULTON
Limeville Church, 5783 Limeville Road, Gap, will host a fall craft fair on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also featured will be a silent auction and a sale of food items. The craft fair will be set up downstairs in the church’s fellowship hall. Crafts for sale will include leather jewelr y and leather crafts, custom iced coffee cups and crocheted items. “Someone will sell wreaths, and we have (several) crochet
vendors who make different things,” said congregation member Melanie Shivery, who is organizing the event along with Danae Baldwin. “There will be variety of handmade gifts.” Silent auction items, which have been donated by local businesses, will include tickets to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Hands-on House in Lancaster, Dutch Lanes in Ephrata and the Turkey Hill Experience in Lancaster. “The majority of crafters also donate items for the silent auction,” noted Shivery. Super Bowl champion coach, sports analyst and author Tony Dung y will be the keynote speaker at T he Parkesburg POINT’s annual fall fundraiser. “A Night With Tony Dungy” will be presented on Monday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. at Coatesville A re a S e n i o r H i g h S c h o o l , 1445 Lincoln Highway East, Coatesville. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Dungy is the latest in a long line of sports figures that have spoken at The POINT ’s fall fundraiser. Past speakers have included former NFL players Tim Tebow and Brian Dawkins. The POINT was able to secure the speakers with the help of sports radio talk show host Rob Maaddi, who has a syndicated talk show, “Faith on the Field.” Maaddi will also be featured at the upcoming event.
