Cornerstone sets annual Walk-Pull for Life BY FRANCINE FULTON
ornerstone Reproductive Health (formerly known as Pregnancy Resources at Cornerstone) will present its ninth annual Walk-Pull for Life, featuring a 5K walk, a flag football tournament, a chicken barbecue and children’s activities. The event, to be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., will take place at Salisbury Township Park, 750 White Horse Road, Gap. Registration for the flag football tournament will begin at 8 a.m. “ We have teams that are from local businesses and churches that come to compete,” said Kristi Martin, Cornerstone’s executive director. “We have professional referees that come in, and our board members will set up the field.” She noted that the Walk-Pull for Life formerly included a walk and a tug-of-war, but that evolved into a flag football event. “(Organizers) wanted to do something unique. You have to ‘pull’ the flags off to play flag football,” Martin explained. Registration for the 5K walk will open at 8:30 a.m. Same-day registrations will be welcome.
among other services. “We have rebranded,” said Martin, noting that the announcement about the name change was made in July along with the unveiling of a new logo. “Our services have changed and evolved over the past couple of years. We felt that reproductive health encompasses everyone and more services rather than just pregnancy resources. We wanted it to be a little more medically focused and encompass more services and include men.” The agency is currently building a mobile medical unit. “It’s like an RV with a doctor’s office in it about the size of a UPS truck,” Martin noted. “It will offer the same services we offer (at the office), including pregnancy confirmation and ultrasound.” To register for the walk or flag football tournament, visit www.pacornerstone.org and choose “About” and then “Events.” The deadline to enter a team into the tournament is Sept. 28. More information about Cornerstone, which is located at 5380 Lincoln Highway, Gap, is available by visiting www.facebook.com/ cornerstonereproductivehealth or calling 717-442-8694.

IN NEED OF FURNITURE TODAY?
According to his mom, Jacqueline Bilder, who is a BridgeWay House board member, Joey struggled with addiction for eight years before he died at the age of 27. “I believe with all my heart that if my son Joey could have connected with BridgeWay, he may still be with us today,” she stated. “Joey passed away in April 2022 from a fentanyl/heroin overdose after doing well in his recovery. I make it my goal to stand with those at BridgeWay House who are doing amazing work and saving lives.” See Community Days pg 2
