Parkesburg 250, a ne wly formed organization that will present a three-day celebration in Parkesburg to commemorate America’s 250th birthday this summer, has planned several upcoming fundraisers. Proceeds from the events will be used by the group to help with the three-day event, set for Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5, in Parkesburg’s Minch Park. The group’s first scheduled fundraisers are bingo games and pancake breakfasts. Bingo will be held on Fridays, Feb. 13 and March 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parkesburg VFW, 406 W. Fourth Ave. There will also be food offered for sale, prizes and an opportunity to win gift baskets. To reserve a spot at an upcoming bingo, email parkesburg250 @gmail.com. Tickets will also be sold at the door. “At every bingo, we have been running 12 bingo games with prizes. Plus, we are doing five baskets at every bingo,” said Casey Wyatt, a member of the Parkesburg 250 committee. “There is a potential of 17 things they can win at every bingo.” Those who would like to donate items for the prize baskets are asked to contact the group via the aforementioned email. Pancake breakfasts will be held on Saturdays, Feb. 21 and March 21, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the VFW. A fee will be charged per person. The breakfast will include all-you-can-eat pancakes, fruit, bacon or sausage, coffee and tea. Parkesburg 250, which has

I try to do adoption events weekly at this point,” said Bauer. Adoptable dogs on hand at the event included Zeke, Benny and Charlie Brown. “These are puppies. Once they hit a certain (age), it is harder for them to get adopted,” Bauer noted. Bauer said that events can be a very good way to find potential adopters. In fact, Tiny Tim, now renamed Willie Nelson, found his forever home after meeting a family at the gathering in Honey Brook.
