n addition to spreading awareness about the dangers of carbon monoxide, the Carly Imbierowicz Foundation continues to provide carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to local families. Most recently, detectors were given out at Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Parkesburg. “We do a Giving Tree every year for families in need. Everybody who we gave a gift to also received a carbon monoxide detector,” explained Janice Dagney, director of religious education. Donna Imbierowicz, who is also a member of the parish, delivered the detectors to the church in time for the Christmas distribution. While there, the children’s choir sang “Let There Be Peace on Earth” and dedicated it to Donna’s daughter, Carly.

Give It to the Goats Local Farm Seeks Christmas Tree Donations BY FRANCINE FULTON
Now that the holiday season has passed and it is time to take down the decorations, do not trash that live Christmas tree! Instead, consider donating it to a group of hungry goats that reside at Rusty Jax Farm in Parkesburg. According to Jacqui Maxwell, who operates the farm with her husband, Russell, goats love eating all parts of the tree, from R124665
the needles to the branches. “They will eat … down to bare tree,” said Jacqui, noting that pine needles provide trace nutrients and minerals and that pine trees act as a natural dewormer. “It also supplements their feed during the winter months when the pastures are barren. In addition to the hay and grain that we feed them, the trees are a help.” Trees should be placed in the parking area at the farm near the Jacqui Maxell (left photo) and her husband, Russell (right photo), are the See Goats pg 5 owners of Rusty Jax Farm.
