The Mount Joy Area Chamber of Commerce, established in 1939, provides services that strengthen our members, advocate policies that improve the business climate and promote the economic development of the Mount Joy Area.
A Vital Link
The Mount Joy Chamber enables and encourages businesses and individuals to become a vital link and represents the interests of both large and small businesses in the community. The Chamber is a 501 (c)6 and is funded by members annual dues, upgraded memberships and annual fundraisers. The Board of Directors and Teams are members who volunteer their time to make the chamber a great organization.
Visitor’s Center
The Chamber office has been designated a Visitor’s Center by the PA Dutch Convention and Visitor's Bureau. Chamber members’ information (flyers, brochures, business cards) are available for the visiting public as well as maps and visitor's guides.

Monthly Meetings
The Mount Joy Chamber members meet the second Wednesday of each month at The Gathering Place, 6 Pine Street, Mount Joy. There is a minimal fee for lunch, which begins at 11:45 with the meeting and speaker to follow. The meeting is adjourned by 1:00 pm. Reservations can be made by calling or emailing the Chamber office. Mount Joy Chamber monthly board meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each month at noon. Call the Chamber office for location.

Mount Joy Money Gift Certificates
This program is designed to keep business dollars in Mount Joy and support our Chamber members. Mount Joy Money is sold in denominations of $5, $10, $20 redeemable at more than 40 Chamber members’ businesses. At the time of purchase, a list of participating Chamber members is provided. When the certificate is redeemed, the provider is reimbursed. We encourage the community to participate in the program and purchase certificates at the Chamber office all year long.

A monthly newsletter is emailed to Chamber members and includes current topics of interest pertaining to members along with chamber member events.
The Chamber provides the Annual Business Directory, which goes to all residents of the area, as well as to those who request relocation information. All Chamber members are included in the directory and have the opportunity to place an ad in this publication at a reduced cost.
Chamber Welcome Bag
The Chamber Welcome Bag has information, coupons and goodies from more than 50+ Chamber members. Also included in the bag is the Chamber Directory. The bag is handed out by housing communities, apartment complexes, the library, banks, realtors, etc. to people who have moved into the area and also to first-time homebuyers. If you have moved to Mount Joy and have not received a bag, please stop in the Chamber office to pick one up!

Mount Joy was incorporated as a Borough in 1851, and is governed by a Council/Manager form of government. Mark Pugliese is the Borough Manager and Joseph Ardini is the Authority Manager. The Borough has its own comprehensive trash removal and recycling program. Mount Joy Borough Authority operates the area’s water and sewer facilities.

Cove Outlook Park - Mount Joy Township: Located on Old Market Street across from LCCTC campus. There are 30 acres with trails, pavilions and a multi-purpose athletic field.
Florin Park - 151 N . Plum St: Consists of 1 Pee Wee/Little League ball field.
Grandview Park - 300 Orchard Road: Consists of Pee Wee/softball and open space.
Borough Park - 301 Manheim St .: There are ballfields for baseball and softball with a concession stand and pavilion. Kids Joy Land play area with a pavilion you can reserve for a $25.00 fee by calling 717-653-2300, and a basketball court and swing sets.
Memorial Park - 101 Marietta Ave .: 101 Marietta Avenue: There is a gazebo and it is intended as a place of quiet and rest. This park is not to be used for playground purposes.
Donegal Springs Road Park - 363 Donegal Springs Road: Consists of benches and shade trees.
Westview Park - 650 School Lane: Consists of a softball field, basketball court, pavilion (first come first serve), play structures, and playground equipment.
R&J (Melhorn) Park - East Donegal Township - Farmview Lane behind the Milanof-Schock Library: This park contains a full-size baseball field (Adult) with pressbox, concession stand, playground structure and asphalt walking path.
Little Chiques Park - 229 Park Ave .: Facilities include 9 large pavilions with picnic tables*, benches, sandbox, drinking fountains, and many large shade trees. This park is bordered by the Little Chiques Creek. There are walking and hiking areas, fishing access, playground equipment, disc golf course and poles for a volleyball net. Electricity available. *Pavilions must be reserved by calling 717-653-2300. There is a $25.00 fee for each pavilion reserved (with electric $40.00 fee). There is also a $10 refundable key fee.
Main and Barbara Streets Park (Pocket Park): There is a replica/sculpture of the ship Mountjoy.
The Lakes Park - 275 Lakeside Crossing: This park contains a Little League ball field, soccer field, pavilion (first come first served), picnic tables, benches, basketball court, pickleball court, tot lot (playground), and walking path.
Rotary Park: Located between Fairview Street and Old Market Street, this park was developed by the Rotary Club of Mount Joy and has a regulation soccer field, junior midget size baseball field and a Pee Wee baseball/girls’ softball field. A hiking/biking trail traverses the park from east to west.
Old Standby Park: 223 W. Main Street. Opened in fall of 2017. Benches, trees, shrubs, parking. The local Norlanco Rheems Kiwanis Club shares some of the maintenance with the borough.

Early History
The first people to inhabit the Mount Joy area were Indian traders. They traded with the Native Americans who passed through the area.
Following the traders came the settlers. William Penn granted plantations to settlers in the region. Three of those plantations made up
the present-day Mount Joy area. In the early 1800s the plantations were divided into small parcels. This allowed for small villages to emerge.
The Villages
There were three main villages that made up the Mount Joy area in the early 1800s. The village of Richland encompassed the western part of the original borough, and Springville became the Florin Ward. A village named Mountjoy made up the eastern section of today’s borough. Mountjoy was named after a ship that saved starving Scots-Irish of Londonderry, Northern Ireland in 1689. Twenty years later, those same people came to this area, and brought their beloved name with them.
In 1851 the villages of Richland and Mountjoy, as well as the surrounding smaller villages, combined to form the Borough of Mount Joy. In 1963 Florin was annexed, and the Borough of today was complete.
The Historical Society is a great resource on Mount Joy history and offers many opportunities for research. The museum houses many displays of Mount Joy artifacts and local business memorabilia.

Milanof-Schock Library is your award-winning neighborhood library. Begun as a Girl Scout project in 1962 and awarded the title “Best Small Library in America” by the American Library Association and the Gates Foundation in 2006, Milanof-Schock Library strives to be a dynamic destination for a connected community. If you think people don’t use the libraries anymore, you haven’t been to a library lately. Your library card does so much more than allow you to borrow books! Your neighborhood library has an ever-expanding collection of ebooks, audiobooks, podcasts and databases as well as public computers and Wi-Fi in the building and things to borrow like books [surprise!] and movies on DVD. In the building or online, Milanof-Schock Library provides materials and programs to connect with all age groups and income levels by providing free educational resources and programming.

Milanof-Schock Library’s building exists because of bequests from Anne Milanof and Clarence Schock and a long, long list of generous people who donated to a $1.2 million dollar capital campaign in 1999.
