The purpose of the Children’s Farm Show is to inform the public about the production of food and fiber and our daily interaction with agriculture.

Greetings

Welcome to the 72nd running of the Manheim Community Farm Show. We’re all so thankful that a few people followed through on their idea of having a farm show in Manheim and got this thing started many years ago.

A lot has changed since that first show in 1954, a new location, new categories of competition, new food stands, and new attractions. But there are 2 things that have never changed, amazing volunteers and incredible community support. This year is no different. Volunteers started planning for this year’s show almost immediately after last year’s show ended. And all through the year, people in the community are offering support and encouragement. The board of directors will never take that for granted and greatly appreciate the role that every volunteer plays, and for many types of support that people in the community provide year after year.

Whether this is your first time at the farm show, or you have been to all 72, I hope you have a great time at the show this year, thanks for attending! If you volunteer an hour during the show or if you’re involved all year long, thanks for doing what you do! And if you support the farm show financially, or through gifts or services, thank you!

Accessibility Service Animals

The Manheim Farm Show welcomes guests with disabilities who are accompanied by a trained service dog, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

We thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a safe and successful visit for yourself, your service animal, the animals participating in the Farm Show and their handlers, and other Fair guests.

The Service Animal is required to have: Valid PA Dog license, Health Check from licensed Veterinarian and all updated vaccinations including Rabies.

A service dog is required to be on a leash, harness, or tether and kept under control by the handler.

Other than animals approved in exhibitions, ONLY WORKING SERVICE ANIMALS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) ARE ALLOWED AT THE Manheim Farm Show.

Under the ADA, “a service animal has been individually trained to work or perform tasks that assist a person with a disability.” Service animals are working animals. Animals whose sole function is to pro vide comfort or emotional support, or therapy do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

Pets, comfort animals, emotional support or therapy animals are not permitted.

For AI biosecurity purposes, no avian birds are allowed on the Farm Show grounds.

IF EITHER AN EXHIBITION ANIMAL OR A SERVICE DOG IS VISIBLY UPSET OR AGITATED BY THE OTHER’S PRESENCE, THE HANDLER AND SERVICE ANIMAL MUST MOVE AWAY FROM THAT EXHIBIT IMMEDIATELY. Signs of agitation include barking, howling, growling, contacting an animal exhibit pen/stall or cage, jumping, climbing, running around exhibit and exhibition animals, and/or erratic mo vements. At no time shall a service dog be in contact with fences, mesh, wire, railings, ropes, or other exhibit barriers.

With limited parking around the high school, we highly suggest all food stand helpers, volunteers and visitors use the shuttle service operating from 9:00 a.m. to close each day. Shuttle is running from the Manheim Brethren in Christ Church located at 54 N. Pennryn Road, Manheim.

Bring a 4x6 photo of a print you would like to paint. Everyone will start the 11/2 hour class together with our MD visiting artist Paul Dorr. All supplies are provided. You will take home our finished project. Check out Paul Dorr paintings on Facebook and his website. Screen Painting is typically painted landscapes, still life's, or other sujects of interest. The artist paints the scene directly onto the metal screen, making sure to remove excess paint from the screen's holes so the screen retains its ability to ventilate. The scene painted on the screen prevents the eye from focusing past the image, giving residents privacy without limiting their ability to look outside.

The animals represent an effort undertaken by the members to learn about the livestock industry and farm management skills. The support of buyers makes it possible for the members to continue their projects in the future and become more proficient in raising livestock.

A. Any individual, firm, businessman, company or corporation has the privilege to exhibit their goods or products in the commercial section of the Farm Show providing they abide by the following rules and regulations:

1. The exhibit must be educational.

2. No concessionaires or gambling will be permitted.

3. All merchandise or goods that have been placed on display shall not be removed at any time during the fair, without permission of the committee.

4. No noise nuisances will be permitted during the exhibition.

5. The exhibitor is liable for any loss or damage of his own property

6. There shall be no fraud or misrepresentation of the products or goods during the exhibition.

7. Exhibitors shall arrange their displays so that they will not interfere with other exhibits.

8. All machines with moving parts and cutting edges are to be guarded by the exhibitor at all times.

B. Booth and Time

1. The booths in the building will be 10' x 10'.

2. Spaces are available inside Building 1, along Farm Show Lane, on the ballfield and in vendor tent.

C. The committee reserves the right to make any alteration necessary for a successful exhibition and sincerely solicits your cooperation and support.

MANHEIM FARM SHOW LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES

NEW: Any changes to the 2027 Manheim Farm Show 4-H and FFA youth livestock sale eligibility and sale numbers will be announced on Nov 1, 2026. Information will be shared via email and on our Manheim Farm Show social media and website. 4-H leaders and FFA Advisors will also be notified.

I. GENERAL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITOR INFORMATION

To contribute to a successful Farm Show, ALL livestock exhibitors are requested to sign up for volunteer shift(s). Use the Sign-Up Genius app to volunteer on the “Barn Crew”. Stalls and pens will be set up and bedded on the Monday evening before Farm Show. It is mandatory for all swine pens to be cleaned out and bedded on Wednesday.

Entries accepted thru Showman App Only

Deadline: Sept. 10, 2026

The new PDA updated VCPR form is posted in the Showman App.

Additional dry shaving and mulch will be available during the week to keep pens dry. Good housekeeping in the barns and grounds is essential in providing a safe and inviting experience for our visitors and fellow livestock exhibitors and their families. Livestock exhibitors and their stall areas will be observed during the week to select a Good Housekeeping recipient for each species based on:

* Animal areas clean and safe *Educate the public about the livestock being exhibited.

* Promote the agriculture and livestock industry

• All decisions on rules will be made by the livestock committee and the decisions will be final.

• Animals showing sign of illness at entry or during the Farm Show will be dealt with on an individual basis in accordance with the Show Ring Code of Ethics and in consultation with our Farm Show veterinarian if necessary. Our Manheim Farm Show designated veterinarian is Dr. Cindy Faulk.

• Please see Livestock Chart on page 32 for summary of all dates and entry information.

• Please read the animal department pages for guidelines and requirements specific to each species.

• All exhibitors must be present when animals are shown and sold unless prior permission is granted.

• To be eligible to show & sell the exact weight requirement listed for your species must be met.

II. YOUTH LIVESTOCK EXHIBITOR ELIGIBILITY & SALE QUOTAS

1. Eligibility Youth 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale Animals:

Youth exhibitors must maintain an approved current year 4-H/FFA project book and the current year project(s) will be verified to the Manheim Farm Show by their respective FFA advisor or 4-H leader. A youth who is a 2026 member in good standing of a Lancaster County 4-H livestock club for their species being shown or Lancaster County High School Ag-Ed Program/FFA chapter AND resides or attends school in the Manheim Central, Donegal, Hempfield, Elizabethtown, Manheim Township, or Warwick School Districts is eligible to compete.

2. A three (3) percent sale price deduction will be made on all selling livestock exhibits. This deduction will be used for advertising, equipment and buyer appreciations costs.

3. 2026 Youth Livestock Sale Animal Quotas

“BIG SPECIES”: Dairy, Dairy Beef, and Beef

“SMALL SPECIES”: Lambs, Goats, Hog and Rabbit Pen

A. ONE dairy beef steer OR ONE market beef "big" to show and sell.

B. Up to THREE TOTAL "smalls" in addition to showing and selling a “big”: Goat, lamb, hog, rabbit pen quota: maximum of TWO in any goat, lamb, hog species or ONE rabbit meat pen.

C. IF an exhibitor is not showing and selling a “big” beef or dairy beef they may show and sell FOUR TOTAL "smalls" with a maximum of TWO per species or ONE rabbit meat pen

D. Youth Dairy Cattle are not included in the maximum number of animals to be shown and sold.

E. Youth Rabbit Market Pens

Each exhibitor is allowed a single meat pen and it counts as part of the exhibitor limit on “small” species.

For an exhibitor to show and sell a meat pen, they MUST be a member in good-standing of the Lancaster County 4-H Rabbit Club or their school’s FFA chapter to be sold at the Youth Livestock Auction.

A Meat Pen consists of three rabbits of the same breed, weighing between 3.5 and 5.5 pounds each, and not older than 70 days/10 weeks in age.

Meat pen rabbits must be born on exhibitors’ property on or after July 27th, 2026.

All meat pens will be sold at the livestock auction on Friday, October 9th.

BREEDING LIVESTOCK

Sheep and Beef: The same youth eligibility requirement as sheep and beef market livestock. The Committee reserves the right to limit the number of entries if space becomes limited.

Rabbits and Cavies (Guinea Pigs)

Youth exhibitors must reside or attend school in Manheim Central, Donegal, Hempfield, Elizabethtown, Manheim Township, or Warwick School Districts to be eligible to compete in Rabbit Breeding classes.

Dairy Cattle:

1. The Dairy Show will be open to any youth showmen from Lancaster and Lebanon counties, but must prove active membership through an FFA chapter or 4-H Dairy Club.

Dairy exhibitors are required to have a current Youth Livestock Health Quality Assurance training certificate.

2. All eligible youth showmen, regardless of where they live, will be eligible for the “Youth Milk Sale”.

3. There will be three milk sale individuals: Supreme Champ, Reserve Supreme, and Honorable Mention.

III. 2026 REQUIRED LIVESTOCK HEALTH INFORMATION

PA Department OF Agriculture 2026 ANIMAL HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR ANIMAL EXHIBITION

AS OF PRINTING TIME THESE ARE THE LIVESTOCK HEALH RULES. THEY ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. On Site Livestock Inspection

Livestock presented for exhibition will be subject to inspection by show officials at entry and during Farm Show week. Livestock will be rejected if evidence of infectious, contagious or parasitic disease is apparent or if health certifications or identification documentation or tagging is not acceptable.

REQUIRED VCPR & CVI Livestock Exhibition Form Information

1. All Manheim Farm Show livestock exhibitors must have a PDA 2026 updated veterinarian-client-patientrelationship (VCPR) form with the veterinarian’s and caregiver’s signatures.

The updated Jan 2026 VCPR form is posted on the Manheim Farm Show Showman app and PDA website. NEW 2026: Rabbits are required to have a completed veterinarian-client-patient-relationship (VCPR) form.

2. The Certification of Veterinary Inspection (CVI): The (CVI) must be issued within 30 days prior to the opening date of the Manheim Farm Show: Dated Sept 5, 2026 or after.

CVI must include: (a) a statement that all animals are free of evidence of infectious and contagious diseases, (b) state destination as Manheim Farm Show and (c) list only one species on each exhibitor/family CVI.

The CVI and (VCPR) for all livestock (cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, rabbits, and other animals on exhibit) must be PRINTED, SIGNED and PRESENTED to Manheim Farm Show livestock officials prior to unloading and penning of livestock.

The entire RFID ear tag number must be included on the CVI and included in the Showman app online entry.

2026 Sheep and Goat Health Exhibition Requirements from PDA

1. See the CVI and VCPR form requirement above.

2. Individual official animal identification is required for all sheep and goats. Identification used for sheep and goats must be permanently affixed to the individual animal.

Official ID includes any of the following:

(a) A USDA ear tag with a US shield; which includes scrapie program tags, or (b) A legible tattoo with herd and individual identification recognized in an approved USDA Scrapie database, or (c) A breed registration tattoo if the animal is accompanied by a registration certificate and the tattoo is legible.

2026 Swine Health Exhibition Requirements from PDA

1. See the CVI and VCPR form requirement above.

2. Official identification is required for all swine and must be a15-digit (AIN) ear tag starting with “840”. The entire RFID number must appear on the CVI and be entered in the Showman App.

All market swine MUST move directly to a PDA or USDA licensed processing facility OR a slaughter-only market DIRECTLY from the fairgrounds/exhibition property. Absolutely No Market Swine May Go Home.

2026 All Cattle Health Exhibition Requirements from PDA

1. See the CVI and VCPR form requirement above.

2. Official identification is required for all cattle includes any of the following:

(a) An official 15-digit Animal Identification Number (AIN) ear tag starting with “840”, or

(b) A USDA issued National Uniform Eartagging System (NUES) tag if applied prior to Nov. 5, 2024.

(c) Brands registered with a recognized brand inspection authority and accompanied by an official brand inspection certificate, or

(d) Tattoos and other identification methods acceptable to a breed association for registration purposes, accompanied by a breed registration certificate.

2026 Rabbit Health Exhibition Requirements from PDA

IV. ENTERING PROCEDURES

1. ONLINE SHOWMAN APP INFORMATION ALL LIVESTOCK ENTRIES must be entered through the Showman App Entries must be completed by September 10, 2026. • NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED

• The exact and full RFID ear tag number must be on the CVI and entered in the Showmen App

• Clean-Up Fee payment will be collected through the Showman App

• Show Ring Code of Ethics & Photo Release Forms need to read and acknowledged in the Showman App by parents and exhibitors as a part of the online entry.

2. FARM SHOW GROUNDS ENTRY & PARKING

Please refer to Livestock Exhibition Information Chart on page 32 for specific times species can be entered. All livestock exhibitors will be directed to enter the Farm Show grounds via Farm Show Lane Sunday evening. One vehicle at a time will stop at the tent.

No livestock exhibitor vehicles are allowed to park in the creek side gravel lot or around the buildings.

PDA BIOSECURITY:

The PA Department of Agriculture strongly recommends that animals returning home from exhibitions be isolated from other members of the herd or flock for a minimum of three weeks to help prevent the spread of disease and recommends that exhibitors of all animals discuss the health of their animals with a veterinarian on a regular basis.

VI. FARM SHOW GROUNDS

The Farm Show management will take every precaution in its power for the safe preservation of stock and articles on exhibition after their arrival on the grounds. However, management will not be held responsible for any damage or accidents that may occur during the week. Any person(s) found stealing, damaging or injuring exhibits will be dealt with according to the law. Each exhibitor will be solely responsible for any loss, injury, or damage done or arising from any animals exhibited by him or her if such negligence is on his or her part. Any individual, spectator or patron handling animals without the consent of the owner is liable for all damage or injury done to themselves or animals.

No youth exhibitors or non-exhibitors will be permitted to stay overnight on the Farm Show grounds. Dairy exhibitors who will be preparing and caring for dairy cattle overnight must be accompanied by a parent or a parent authorized adult.

Tobacco use by any youth exhibitors (regardless of legal age to purchase tobacco) on Farm Show grounds is PROHIBITED! Any exhibitor who is found breaking this rule will forfeit all premiums. Repeated offenses will be handled on an individual basis by the livestock committee.

Showman of Showman Competition -

3:00 p.m. Arena

The Champion showman from each of the seven livestock shows will return to the show ring to select a champion “Showman of Showman.” The purpose of this competition is to have all our premier showman in one competition for the public to see and recognize.

Four classes of showmanship will be judged with all seven showman competing in each class. The classes may include: Dairy Beef, Market Goat, Breeding Sheep, Dairy Cattle, Breeding Beef, Pygmy Goat and Market Hog. One judge will evaluate the breeding classes and one judge will evaluate the market classes.

Rules:

1. If the Champion showman of a species decides not to take part in this special Showman of Showman competition on Thursday they MUST tell their species chairmen BEFORE the Overall Champion is selected. The Reserve Champion will then be given the opportunity to show in the “Showman of Showman” competition.

2. If one showman wins more than one show no other showman will be invited from those species to the “Showman of Showman” competition.

3. A $50 gift card will be given to each participant in the “Showman of Showman” competition.

4. Each class will be judged with first place receiving 1 point, second place 2 points and so on. Showman will not be physically placed in each of the four classes. Each showman will wear a number on their back. At the conclusion of the competition the scores will be added up. Lowest score wins. If there is a tie, the names of all four classes will be put into separate envelopes. One envelope will be drawn and the lowest score for that class will be the winner. Only first place will be announced.

5. No animal from any of the showman will be used. Evaluation will be based solely on showmanship. No fitting will be considered.

6. Zurin Masonry will sponsor the traveling trophy. If an exhibitor wins the trophy twice it will be retired to that showman.

RULES

1. ENTRIES - All participants must complete an entry form on the Showman app by September 10, 2026. NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted.

2. ARRIVAL AND RELEASE TIME POLICY -

Arrival: All 4-H and FFA members in Manheim Central School District must have their heifers in place by Sunday, October 4, during the 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. check-in.

All dairy exhibitors are welcome to arrive on Sunday, October 4, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. as well. Milking cattle and any non FFA or 4-H exhibitor may arrive Monday, October 5 from 9:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Any animals arriving before or after these allotted times will be sent home.

Release: Cattle may leave Thursday AFTER the Showman of Showman Competition. The Supreme and Reserve Supreme Dairy Cow that are selling their milk must stay through Friday night; release time for these animals will be 10:00 p.m.

3. CARE OF ANIMALS - Exhibitors must see to the delivery of their animals as well as to attend to their animals while on exhibition. Exhibitors are asked to keep manure cleaned up and keep aisleways clean and swept. Signs and displays promoting the dairy industry are not only recommended but judged for good housekeeping.

4. GOOD HOUSEKEEPING AWARD SCORING: 4-H AND FFA MEMBERS ONLY

A. Adequate bedding and properly packed, level pack, straw clean and bright 10 points

B. Animals attractively arranged and correctly spaced (not too close or far apart) 10 points

2. Appearance and Attitude of Exhibitors

3. Care of the Exhibit

A. Animals are clean and well groomed 15 points

B. Aisles are clean and neat with adequate width for spectators 10 points

C. Bedding clean and dry, shows evidence of frequent reworking 10 points

D. Feed and equipment stored neatly (out of sight) and is clean 10 points

(Inspections will be made unannounced daily, winners announced Friday night) Total: 100 points

* No microwaves, canopies or other large inconvenient items will be allowed.

* All milk must be dumped after milking. No milk leaves the premises. No exceptions.

*Anyone staying overnight to care for their animals must comply with the chaperone policy.

5. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS - All cattle must be accompanied by a “Certificate of Veterinary Inspection” (CVI) signed by an accredited veterinarian. Health chart must be issued after within the 30 days prior to the opening date of the MFS: Sept. 5, 2026. Cattle must be immunized against IBR, PI3, and rabies. Must have a rabies certificate.

6. FEEDING AND BEDDING - Shavings will be provided through the week.

7. GROOMING - Exhibitors may only use grooming products that are FDA approved for use on meat and milk producing animals when fitting any animal for show. Unapproved products may contain ingredients that result in unacceptable residues. Any exhibitor found using an unapproved product will be disqualified and stripped of premium earnings.

8. SUBSTITUTIONS - All substitutions should be filed with the chairman (Allyson Heckman) before the day of check-in and include a new entry form with the information of the new animal. It is up to the discretion of the chairman to allow a late notice substitution.

9. 2026 DAIRY SHOW CLASSES

A. Youth Showmanship Contest:

3. Exhibitors must enter exhibits SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2026 between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. ONLY. There will be a CLEAN UP FEE OF $7 PER ANIMAL which is required to be made with the entry forms.

4. Market exhibits will be weighed on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2026 at entry and selling animals will also be tagged. Classes will be determined at that time according to the weights received. All market exhibits must weigh between 50 and 110 pounds. Each exhibitor may not sell more than 2 market goats.

5. Age of exhibitor will be determined as of October 3, 2026.

6. A 3% deduction will be made on all selling exhibits. This deduction will be used for sale advertising, equipment maintenance and buyer appreciation.

This show is open to any youth, ages 5-18, who resides in or attends school in Manheim Central, Donegal, Hempfield, Elizabethtown, Manheim Township, or Warwick school districts.

The Meat Pen Division is only open to youth who are maintaining a 4-H or FFA rabbit project.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. New for 2026: Official entry forms: All participants must enter their animals using the Showman App by Sept. 10, 2026. No late entries will be accepted.

2. All exhibitors will be required to sign the Manheim Farm Show Exhibitor Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Attestation form at entry.

3. Rabbit and Cavy exhibitors must complete a Show Ring Code of Ethics form on the Showman App. and New 2026 Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) *signed by vet and exhibitor is required. The VCPR simply means you have a veterinarian who cares for your animal if needed.

4. To prevent the transmission of RHDV2 among rabbits, animals that have traveled to another state within the last 90 days, whether purchased or shown there, must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection from an accredited veterinarian, dated after September 25, 2026.

5. If any animal presents with signs of illness upon entry or at any time during the show, exhibitors will be asked to remove the animal(s) from the grounds. The Manheim Farm Show is not responsible for any animal that develops illness following exhibition at the show.

6. Single rabbit entries will be received on Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

7. Each exhibitor is allowed a single meat pen. For an exhibitor to show and sell a meat pen, they MUST be a goodstanding member of Lancaster County 4-H Rabbit Club or their school’s FFA chapter. A Meat Pen consists of three rabbits of the same breed, weighing between 3.5 and 5.5 pounds each, and not older than 70 days, or 10 weeks in age. Meat pen rabbits must be born on exhibitor's property on or after July 27, 2026. All meat pens will be sold at the livestock auction on Friday, October 9th. Furthermore, Meat Pens now count as part of the exhibitor limit on small species that can be shown and sold at the Farm Show for 2026.

8. Breeders rabbits and cavies must be picked up on Thursday between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

9. Coop numbers will be temporarily marked in the animal’s right ear at the time of entry.

10. Exhibitors will be responsible for feeding/watering their own animals at least once a day, or planning with another exhibitor to do so. They will only be watered by the Farm Show volunteers in the case of an extreme emergency.

11. Exhibitors are required to clean their pens. Bedding will be provided. There will be a bedding fee of $1 per animal and $5 for meat pen entries.

12. YOUTH EXHIBITORS MUST BE PRESENT A THE TIME OF SHOW - Monday, 5:30 p.m. in the arena. Youth exhibitors are responsible for bringing their animal(s) to the show table when their class is called. If the animal is not presented by the exhibitor when called for, they will be considered a scratch.

13. It is strongly recommended that animals are groomed and have their nails trimmed prior to arrival at the show Contact your 4-H Leader of FFA Advisor if you need help.

14. Although not a sanctioned show, all animals will be judged according to ARBA standards.

15. Animals not conforming to a specific breed standard should be entered in the “Pet” breed category.

Assistance is defined as a learning situation where the person doing the assisting is teaching the exhibitor a technique in clipping or fitting. B. All equipment, feed, and show boxes must be store in designated areas.

C. Wheelbarrows and spreader are available for cleanup during Farm Show Week.

D. All animals entered in this show will be sold Friday at 5:15 p.m.

E. Exhibitors are expected to be present during the feeding, grooming, showing, and selling of their calf.

OWNERSHIP

1. All market and breeding sheep must be owned by JULY 1st of current year.

2. Each exhibitor may not show more than two market lambs (2 sale). *Lambs must be slick shorn or have ½" or less of fleece and be dry at weigh in. All sale lambs must weigh at least 90 lbs. and no more than 170 lbs. Buy-back prices for heavy weight market lambs may be reduced depending on current market conditions.

3. All sheep must be in the care of the FFA or 4-H exhibitor. Each member is to provide feed, trough, water bucket and have entire charge of his or her animal(s).

4. Only three breeding sheep per class per exhibitor.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:

1. Identification - Purebred animals must be identified by registry name and number, corresponding to the ear tag or tattoo number.

2. Flock inspection - Flocks must be examined anytime after May 1. The veterinarian who has examined the entries and the flocks from which they come must certify on the health certificate that he has found no evidence of transmissible disease and to the best of his knowledge, no exposure thereto, and are not subject to any quarantine restrictions.

3. Certification by owner and an accredited veterinarian that the identified animal(s) is (is not) known to have been exposed to scrapie.

4. All sheep must bear official USDA/APHIS eartag to be exhibited at the show. Sheep from flocks on the Voluntary Scrapie Program must bear the official eartag, tattoo, or electronic ear implant.

5. Registration papers must accompany all breeding sheep, except cross bred class.

RULES AND REGULATIONS CONCERNING VEGETABLES

1. In selecting vegetables for exhibition, choose such specimens that will bring the highest market price. Do not select the largest; select medium-size specimens. If at all possible, do not mix varieties.

2. Judging Criteria:

A. Trueness to variety type. If at all possible, pick the specimens from one variety.

B. Uniformity in shape, size and color.

C. Be sure to pick out a perfect specimen, then select the others as similar to it as possible. Never mix specimens of different maturity.

D. Protect from dirt, disease, infection, and mechanical damage. Select specimens that are perfect and show no blemishes of any kind.

E. Condition and maturity. Be sure that exhibits are of high quality.

3. Read premium material, carefully following all rules and their regulations. If any entry calls for 5 specimens, be sure to exhibit that number; do not enter 4 to 6. In any instance, your exhibits will be disqualified if the correct number of specimens are not entered. Entries such as root crops can be displayed with tops on if no class should contain both root and bunch breeds.

2026 KING ARTHUR BAKING COMPANY CONTEST Iced Layered Cake

RULES:

1. Open to adult and youth (up to 18 years as of Oct. 1) exhibitors residing in Lancaster or Lebanon Counties.

2. Contestants must submit an iced layer cake (at least 2 layers) of any flavor combination, made using King Arthur Flour. No cream cheese or perishable icings or fillings. Entries should be submitted on a disposable plate, tray or box, no dishes will be returned to contestants after judging.

3. Exhibitors must bring the opened bag of King Arthur Flour or submit a UPC label from the flour bag at entry.

In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of our Country's formation and our first president.

Contestants should bake a homemade cherry pie and are encouraged to be creative and patriotic in the design and topping. Pies may be crust or crumb topping. Recipe may contain a mixture of fruit, with the mixture being at least 60% cherries.

All ingredients and decorations must be edible. No pre-packaged ingredients are to be used.

Crust and filling must be homemade (fresh, frozen or home canned filling). Items should be submitted on disposable tin. Pie dishes cannot be returned after judging.

2. All canned goods must be in clear, standard (half-pint, pint or quart) canning jars.

3. Jams, jellies, butters, preserves, conserves & marmalades may be in standard jelly jars and must be heat sealed in boiling water bath. Because different fruits require different processing times, consult a current Ball canning book for proper times.

4. All entries must be sealed and include rings and lids that are clean and free from rust.

5. For the most part, judging will be done on general appearances such as uniformity of food size, color and clearness of liquid. Jars may need to be opened, however when spoilage is suspected or differences among entries is very small. In that case these items will be marked “opened” by the judges and should not be eaten when the event is over. The fair management is not responsible for spoilage of any canned good during exhibition. Any foods that are considered hazardous to consume will be disposed of including the jar that contains the food. NOTE: Jams, jellies, marmalades, conserves, fruit butters and preserves will be opened and tasted for judging. *Note: Fruits, berries, vegetables, juices, pickles and pickle products, vinegars, sauces and meats will not be opened and tasted.

6. It is suggested, but NOT required, that exhibits be labeled with the name of the product, date preserved and method of preservation. Example: Peaches, hot pack, boiling water canner, 20 min., July 2026; Spaghetti Sauce, hot pack, pressure canner, 11 lbs. pressure for 45 min., July 2026.

1. All art work must not be made from a manufactured object/kit. Paint by number, diamond painting and model kits will not be accepted. If a custom design, process photos are encouraged to show your process.

2. All Youth work in Class 1-4 must not be framed.

3. Stretched canvas & framed work must be wired for hanging with a sturdy and reliable wire.

4. All paintings must be dry. All chalk, pastels, and charcoal drawings should be sprayed with fixative to avoid smudging.

5. Should these guidelines not be followed, the committee will assume no responsibility if the piece is damaged.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD

3. Farm Show visitors will be able to cast one vote per day per category.

4. Voting will be from noon on Monday until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winners will be announced at auction on Thursday evening.

5. All baskets will become the property of the Manheim Farm Show and will be sold at the Thursday Night Benefit Auction, with the proceeds going to the Manheim Farm Show Treasury.

6. The container does not need to be a “basket”; another appropriate container will be accepted.

7. Baskets must be wrapped in clear cellophane before entering.

8. All baskets must be named.

9. Attach a typed list of contents that can be easily read and a second copy for the auction night.

10. Individual name of entrants will be hidden from the public. Business & Non-profit categories may display names.

11. All contents of basket must be family-friendly (no alcohol, etc.)

PURPOSE: Manheim Community Farm Show Parade exists to promote a positive, wholesome family activity. RULES:

1. Throwing of objects from vehicles is prohibited; however, objects can be handed to the crowd, and all food or candy must be in original wrappers.

2. The Parade Committee and/or the Manheim Community Farm Show Board may refuse any entry. Decision of the Parade Committee is final.

3. Liability - Each exhibitor will be solely responsible for any loss, injury, damage done, or arising from any animal, vehicle, or participant.

4. A responsible adult must accompany a group of participants under the age of 18.

5. Cleanliness - You are responsible for any trash or manure.

6. No alcoholic beverages may be consumed before or during your participation in parade activities.

7. All participants driving in the parade must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.

8. All tractor safety rules must be followed while participating in the Manheim Community Farm Show parade. This includes no riders policy.

CHILDREN’S PARADE RULES

1. Judging will be based on: decorative creativity, work and effort, theme and appearance and costumes worn

2. Past Manheim Farm Show Parade entries are welcome, however they will be scored lower in the creative category.

3. Any child, 7 years and under (as of October 3, 2026), is eligible to participate. Costumed adults are welcome; however, they are not considered in the judging.

4. Only one entry is required for a pair or group of children.

5. A contestant may enter any division desired; however, that division must be selected by the contestant.

6. The committee has the right to combine or eliminate categories based on the number of entries.

7. No live animals are allowed.

8. All contestants in WALKING DIVISION MUST WALK OR BE CARRIED. If a child is being pulled or pushed by another child or adult, he or she cannot enter a walking division.

9. DIVISION F (wagon with platform) — Platform not to exceed 4' by 4'. Any platform bigger must be entered in a float division.

10. A float with any moving part must enter Division J (Mechanized).

11. All vehicles must be hand-pulled (no motorized vehicles will be allowed in any division).

12. No entries will be allowed to change their division after 9:00 p.m. on October 4.

13. The committee reserves the right to reject any entry not meeting their approval.

14. Contestants should report for judging at Island Field (Memorial Drive - behind football stadium). If need be, a decision to cancel the parade on Monday because of inclement weather will be made by 1:00 p.m. Monday and be rescheduled for Tuesday at the same time. If there are any questions as to whether the parade is canceled, call 665-7480.

15. All entries must be ready for judging by 5:30 p.m. Any late entries (after 5:30 p.m.) may not be judged. This decision will be at the discretion of the judges. Entrant may still parade, however.

16. All entries must be registered and wearing registration number or they will not be allowed in line of parade.

17. Two people may accompany the entrant on the street during the parade. If more are needed for the larger floats, talk to the chairperson

18. Prize winners will be announced by 8:30 p.m. at the Farm Show on Adele Avenue.

19. All grand prize and first place winners in all divisions will be invited to participate in Wednesday Night’s Farm Show Parade.

20. Ribbons can be picked up at the Farm Show Office throughout the week or Saturday PARADE ROUTE: North on Memorial Drive, cross over through the park to Adele Avenue, west on Adele Avenue to Oak Street, south on Oak Street to Gramby Street, east on Gramby Street back to Memorial Drive.

MANHEIM COMMUNITY FARM SHOW QUEEN

The purpose of the Manheim Community Farm Show Queen Program is to enhance and enrich the lives of young girls and women in our area by the promotion of agriculture and the representation of our community at a local and state level. By doing so, we want to instill valuable life lessons to the girls such as self-esteem, leadership, teamwork, public speaking, responsibility and above all a sense of pride in our rural community and its heritage.

ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR LOCAL AND STATE QUEEN CONTEST:

1. Be a female who is a U.S citizen, and a resident of PA, resides or attends school in Manheim Central, Donegal, Hempfield, Elizabethtown, Manheim Township or Warwick. If your legal residence is outside of Manheim Central School District you must declare Manheim Farm Show as your predominant Farm Show and not enter any other fair queen contest.

2. Be at least age 16, but no older than 20 years of age as of June 1 of the year entering the local contest.

3. Be the certified representative from the local fair where she was crowned.

4. Have not been a former local Fair Queen winner, not a former State Fair Queen.

5. Not hold any other title for any other commodity group or pageant.

6. Must have her parent(s)/guardian(s) consent to enter the local and state contest.

7. Be single, have never been married, have not been pregnant nor given birth.

8. Be of good moral character (at the discretion of the Queen Committee).

9. Be able to meet all the time commitments, Queen obligations and dress code as set by the PA State Fair Queen program, which can be found at: www.pafairs.org/p/convention/queen-contest.

10. Must exhibit something in the Manheim Community Farm Show (in any department).

11. All contestants MUST have an escort for the evening of the ceremonies.

12. All contestants will be given a personal interview, a 3-5 minutes speech to a panel of judges and select members of the Farm Show Queen Committee. Interviews will be held Monday, September 21. Exact time and and location to be announced.

13. Entrants must submit a photo no larger then a 5"x7" with the application. Photo does not have to be professional but should be of good quality.

14. Applications must be submitted to: Ann Moyer, 243 Fairview Rd., Manheim, PA 17545 Must be postmarked by Monday, September 7, 2026 or hand delivered by Monday, September 14, 2026. No late entries or phone entries will be accepted.

15. Misconduct of any contestant will not be tolerated (i.e. cyberbullying, etc.) Consequence will be immediate dismissal from contest and contestant will be banned from participating in any future royalty contest. Judging will consist of:

1. Personal interview utilizing your biographical information and other questions.

2. Knowledge of the Manheim Community Farm Show.

3. Presentation of speech on “Why You Should Come To The Manheim Community Farm Show”.

4. Written essay of 300 words or less on “What The Farm Show Means To My Community”.

5. Poise, appearance, neatness, and ability to communicate.

*QUEEN: $1,000 cash

*1st Runner-up: $250 cash *2nd Runner-up: $100 cash *3rd Runner-up: $75 cash *4th Runner-up: $50 cash

*All other contestants will receive $25 cash

DUTIES OF THE QUEEN:

1. The Queen must agree to promote the Manheim Community Farm Show for one year and participate in events as requested.

2. The Queen will reign over the 2026 Manheim Community Farm Show, presenting ribbons and trophies with the help of her court at all animal shows, family fun night, sale, and participate in events as requested.

3. When she has any free time she must be in the Children’s Farm Show helping to teach them about the importance of Agriculture.

4. The Queen and her Court must ride in the Farm Show Parade on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2026. Rain date October 8.

5. The Queen must be present at the Livestock Sale Friday night to hand out trophies and banners to the winners and buyers.

6. The Queen and her family are asked to come to the Farm Show Banquet which is held in November, and she will be asked to give a short speech.

7. The Queen is required to attend at least 8 work sessions preparing her for the state Queen Contest in Hershey, PA.

8. The Queen will be required to attend and compete in the State Fair Queen contest in January 2027.

9. She must conduct at least one Ag in the classroom session, and teach some aspect of agriculture or submit a request to the committee for an alternate service project.

10. The Queen will be expected to be present at the next year’s swine show (2:30 p.m.) to hand out awards.

11. The Queen will participate in the ceremonies to crown the 2027 Farm Show Queen and will be expected to recount her past year as Queen.

12. Most importantly the Queen is expected to present herself in a pleasant, professional manner at all times.

13. The Queen will be required to present a recap of her State Fair Queen competition experience to the Farm Show board at the February board meeting.

14. The Queen is required to participate in the Pennsylvania State Fair Queen’s booth at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
