Greetings Greetings
Welcome back to the best week of the year!
If we learned anything the past 2 years, it's the value of relationships and working together. And in today's crazy world, it's hard to find a time or a place where relationships and working together are displayed more than at the Manheim Community Farm Show.
Literally hundreds of volunteers work together thousands of hours to make everything happen. A lot of this happens behind the scenes months in advance of farm show week. As farm show week approaches, more and more people work together to do more and more projects. And when farm show week finally arrives, it's anybody's guess as to how many people are involved and how many projects are being done. Along the way, the volunteers renew and strengthen friendships, and at the same time the community benefits.
The people and organizations in the community can reap the benefits of all the hard work the volunteers do. Churches and civic groups work together in the food stands to raise money for their organizations. Friends and family eat together in the food tent and then spend hours together looking at all the displays. One phrase that is heard repeatedly during the farm show is "it's great to see you again!" If you live in the Manheim area, you know that farm show week is the time to see people you haven't seen for a while!
And of course, there are all the displays showing the talents and hard work of all the entrants. Whether it's a kids' coloring contest entry from a first-time entrant or a sewing project from someone who has been sewing for decades, it's great to see everyone bringing their best in the hopes of getting the blue ribbon. You can feel the excitement building as the entries roll in!
While you're here, be sure to see all the animals. The kids spend up to a year feeding, watering, grooming, and doing everything else involved in raising a show animal to get it ready to show in October. Take a few minutes and ask the kids about their projects. You might be amazed by what's involved in getting an animal to the show. And you might be amazed at how many great kids we have in the Manheim area. There's something about raising an animal that teaches kids lessons about hard work and responsibility that will help them the rest of their lives.
One more highlight of this year's show is that our queen, Anna Haldeman, is also the PA State Fair Queen for the year! Congratulations, Anna, and thanks for representing Manheim so well!
Thanks for coming to the show, and I hope you'll agree that it's the best week of the year!
Glenn Stoltzfus - President of The Manheim Community Farm Show

The animals represent an effort undertaken by the members to learn about the livestock industry and farm management skills. The support of buyers makes it possible for the members to continue their projects in the future and become more proficient in raising livestock.
Any company wishing to buy an animal but not keep the animal may sell it back to a designated buyer at market price. See auctioneers for more information.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Rabbit and Cavy exhibitors must complete a Show Ring Code of Ethics form at check in and sign the Animal Owner or Caretaker's Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) on entry form. The VCPR simply means you have a veterinarian who cares for your animal if needed.
2. To prevent the transmission of RHDV2 among rabbits, animals that have traveled to another state within the last 90 days, whether purchased or shown there, must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection from an accredited veterinarian, dated after September 25, 2022.
3. If any animal presents with signs of illness upon entry or at any time during the show, exhibitors will be asked to remove the animal(s) from the grounds. The Manheim Farm Show is not responsible for any animal that develops illness following exhibition at the show.
4. Single rabbit entries will be received on Sunday from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m.
5. New for 2022: A Meat Pen consists of three rabbits of the same breed, weighing between 3 and 5 pounds each, and not older than 70 days, or 10 weeks in age. All meat pens will be sold at the livestock auction on Friday, October 7. As such, exhibitors MUST show their 4-H or FFA record book at the time of entry. Furthermore, Meat Pens now count as part of the exhibitor limit on small species that can be shown and sold at the Farm Show for 2022.
6. Non sale rabbits and cavies must be picked up on Thursday between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
7. Coop numbers will be temporarily marked in the animal's right ear at the time of entry.
8. Exhibitors will be responsible for feeding/watering their own animals at least once a day, or planning with another exhibitor to do so. They will only be watered by the Farm Show volunteers in the case of an extreme emergency.
9. Exhibitors are required to clean their pens. Bedding will be provided.
10. YOUTH EXHIBITORS MUST BE PRESENT A THE TIME OF SHOW. Youth exhibitors are responsible for bringing their animal(s) to the show table when their class is called. If the animal is not presented by the exhibitor when called for, they will be considered a scratch.
11. It is strongly recommended that animals are groomed and have their nails trimmed prior to arrival at the show. Contact your 4-H Leader of FFA Advisor if you need help.
12. Although not a sanctioned show, all animals will be judged according to ARBA standards.
13. Animals not conforming to a specific breed standard should be entered in the "Pet" breed category.
14. ABSOLUTELY NO SALES OR SOLICITATION OF ANIMALS.
15. Only 4 classes per breed will be offered. Seniors are animals over 6 months, and Juniors are under 6 months.
a. Rabbits: Senior Buck - SB, Senior Doe - SD, Junior Buck - JB, Junior JD
I attest and affirm that a "veterinarian consultation relationship" - as that phrase is defined in the Animal Exhibition Sanitation Law found at 3 Pa. C.S.A. 2501 et seq. and any amendments thereto - exists with regard to any animals I will be exhibiting. (You have a veterinarian for your rabbits if needed) Exhibitor
