A Strawberry Festival, featuring strawberry dishes, live music, children’s activities and craft vendors, will be offered on Saturday, June 7, from noon to 5 p.m. at St. Mary of Providence Center, 227 Isabella Road, Elverson. grounds of the historic property. “There will be face painting for children and all kinds of strawberry (dishes) - strawberry shortcake, strawberries with ice cream and chocolate-covered strawberries,” said Jacqueline Guerra, the site’s retreat reservation coordinator. “We have 12 vendors so far selling crafts, jewelry and trinkets.” Other food items offered for sale will include hamburgers, See Strawberry Festival pg 6

istoric Joanna Furnace is well known in the community for its annual events, including the Hay Creek Festival, the Apple Festival and Christmas at Joanna. Now, another celebration has become a tradition at the historic site - Music at the Furnace. This year’s Music at the Furnace, which will feature live music and food, including menu items homemade by volunteers with the Hay Creek Valley Historical Association (HCVHA), will take place on Friday, June 6. Food will be available for purchase starting at 4:30 p.m., and the music will begin at 5 p.m. While there is no admission to attend the event, a

donation will be received at the gate. Food available for sale throughout the night will include macaroni and cheese, pulled pork, hot dogs and french fries, as well as hot and cold beverages, ice cream sundaes and root beer floats. Stampede Barbecue and Ale House of Mohnton will also have homemade ale available for purchase. “There will be something for everyone in food choices, so (guests may) come for dinner, stay for music and then have some dessert,” said Mark Zerr, HCVHA executive director. The opening act will be Elliott Christ, a singer/songwriter and multi-instr umentalist from Phoenixville. He has performed
