Ryerss Farm sets Run for the Horses, Easter egg hunt BY FRANCINE FULTON
Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, 1710 Ridge Road (Route 23), Pottstown, will hold two special events in April, including the 13th annual Ryerss Run for the Horses on Saturday, April 12, followed by an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 26. Proceeds
from both events will benefit the rescued and retired horses that reside at the farm. To register or for more information, visit www.ryerssfarm.org and select “Events.” The Run for the Horses will feature 10K and 5K runs and a 1-mile walk. ike golfers who win the Masters Tournament and the green jackets tailored for them, Good Samaritan Services (Good Sam) and Engle Printing & Publishing Co., Inc. (EPC) are ideally suited for one another. The two community-minded organizations are once again linking up for the 18th annual EPC Golf Outing benefiting
Good Samaritan Services. The charity event will be held Friday, June 6, at Crossgates Golf Club, 1 Crossland Pass, Millersville. There will be two sessions of golf. The first will tee off at 7:30 a.m., and the second will start at 1:30 p.m. A light breakfast and a chicken barbecue lunch will be served to the morning groups; the afternoon groups will receive a light café lunch and a chicken barbecue meal for dinner. The

Hopewell announces “Pursuit of Happiness” writing challenge BY FRANCINE FULTON
Even though the Fourth of July seems a long way off, the time is now for local students in grades six through 12 to submit their essays for the annual Independence Day writing challenge that is being sponsored by Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site in collaboration with the Friends of Hopewell Furnace. Students will read their
winning essays during the park’s Independence Day program on Friday, July 4. The contest is open to students who attend schools in the counties surrounding the historic site - Chester, Montgomery and Berks counties. Locally eligible students include those who reside in the Coatesville, Daniel Boone, Owen J. Roberts and Twin Valley school districts. Homeschooled students in those districts are See Hopewell pg 4
