Twin Valley cheer team wins national competition BY FRANCINE FULTON
The 2022-23 Twin Valley Youth Cheer Team, made up of 12 studentathletes in third through seventh grades, was recently named national champion at The ONE Cheer and Dance Finals. The team competed in the Recreation Cheer Level One division.
As part of the competition, the team was given the opportunity to perform its cheer/dance routine in either Virginia Beach, Va.; Sandusky, Ohio; Las Vegas; or Orlando, Fla. The team members from Twin Valley competed in Virginia Beach, where they received first place, advancing them to the Virtual Global Finals to be judged against the top See Cheer team pg 3

Phillips said having a car show not only showcases the scenic location but also encourages visitors to shop or dine at the small businesses. “I have always lived here and wanted to bring car culture to the village,” said Phillips. “And, of course, I love helping out the village and helping it gain popularity.” During the car shows, visitors are See Cars and Coffee pg 8

Caernarvon Historical Society to host Churchtown Day BY FRANCINE FULTON
The Caernarvon Historical Society will present Churchtown Day, featuring community yard sales along with breakfast and lunch items prepared at the Caernarvon Fire Company, on Saturday, Aug. 5. The event will be held rain or shine. Yard sales will begin at 7 a.m. on Route 23 in Churchtown, as well as in neighboring communities. “Churchtown Day is a big thing. (People may find) something they really want (or a) treasure,” said Yvonne Styer, historical society
president and historian, noting that the Churchtown Day tradition began in 1984. “The only time we did not have it was in 2020 because of the (pandemic).” Caernarvon Historical Society will also host a flea market at its property, 2148 Main St., Narvon, and at the property next door, at Caernarvon Township Park. “We use the property where the (Caernarvon Elementary) school was and in front of our building,” said Styer, noting that sales will be held both inside and outside the historical society building. “We will See Churchtown Day pg 2
